Nestled in Austin, San Ginés captures the charm of Madrid with its chic vibe and delightful hot chocolate, though the churros are a mixed bag.
"Take a mental trip to Spain with this all-day restaurant known for its churros. The back patio is gorgeous, with lots of plants, Spanish language tunes, umbrellas, comfy couches, large work tables, and a few fire pits. It’s open from coffee and pastries in the morning to salad and cava with lunch to evening cocktails. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the indoor bar and seating area is equally vibey." - Erin Russell
"Originally from Madrid, San Ginés is a small chain of chocolate and churro restaurants that has now expanded to Miami and Austin. In addition to sweets, this South Lamar location also serves as a Spanish restaurant with paella, croquettes, and more. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation
"San Ginés is a Madrid, Spain-based churro shop known for its churros and chocolates. It is opening its first Austin location on South Lamar and has been running a food truck until the store opens." - Nadia Chaudhury
"San Ginés will be opening in the Zilker neighborhood 2072 South Lamar Boulevard starting on Friday, November 15. The Austin location will work much like its Miami one, featuring signature churros with sauces and toppings like chocolate, dulce de leche, and rainbow sprinkles. The cafe offers Spanish tortillas, paella, croquettes, breakfast dishes, croissants, and sandwiches. Drinks include coffee, hot chocolates, and juices. The layout includes a main building and a food truck for churros, chocolate, and ice cream. The first day of service is limited from noon to 10 p.m. A food truck, Olé by San Ginés, opened in the spring at Padel Club Austin, offering cafe dishes but not churros, operating from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily." - Nadia Chaudhury
