Taproom with craft seltzers, beer, and bar bites.

"A bit off the beaten path, Schooner Exact Brewery is down south on First Avenue, among a sea of warehouses and industrial buildings. Schooner Exact is not just a brewery, but also a family-friendly restaurant that offers a selection of delicious food. The brewery is named for the first ship of settlers that arrived in Seattle in 1851. At the SODO brewery, they brew a selection of beers that are available throughout the region." - Starbucks Global Creative

"As a hard seltzer gastropub in Sodo, San Juan Seltzery has begun reopening its outdoor patio seating while continuing to offer to-go and delivery services as part of ESR’s broader efforts to pivot during the pandemic." - Gabe Guarente

"At 3901 1st Ave S in SoDo I found a sleek, minimalist seltzery with 15 rotating flavors on tap (including taproom-only options like cucumber mint and peach rosé), pints for $6, and cocktails starting around $11—such as the Snug Harbor made with bourbon, lemon, aperol, and San Juan Seltzer fuji apple. The seafood-focused menu is from chef Ethan Stowell, and the nautical, San Juan Island–themed space features a fire pit, blankets, and driftwood; the company emphasizes regional ingredients (peaches from Yakima, pears from Oregon) and markets the drinks as zero carbs, no sugar, gluten free, and just 4.2% ABV. The vibe skewed decidedly 30-and-under during my visit, with indie rock playing and an indoor play area and toddler activities to appeal to younger parents, and the brand— which trademarked the term “seltzery”—is aiming to expand with more taprooms if this location succeeds." - Kelly Knickerbocker

"Alcoholic sparkling water fans, rejoice: San Juan Seltzery Taproom, Kitchen & Bar is now open in SoDo. The hotly anticipated partnership between Ethan Stowell Restaurants (How to Cook a Wolf, Tavolàta, and many more) and San Juan Seltzer sits at 3901 First Avenue South inside the seltzer’s production facility at the SoDo Urbanworks. The Selzery serves 12 kinds of San Juan Seltzers plus cocktails made with them (notably The Dread Pirate Katy with rum, lime, orgeat, mint, and Huckleberry San Juan Seltzer), along with beer, wine — including selections from neighbors within Urbanworks — two nonalcoholic seltzer options, coffee, tea, and sodas. The seafood-focused, all-day counter-service menu includes crab cakes, cod and chips, clams frites, desserts like cheesecake, and a kids' menu with chicken tenders. The space is open and airy with seating for about 40 at stools inside or at tables around a fire pit on the heated patio; there’s a brightly colored, game-filled kids' play area and TVs for adults to watch sports. San Juan Seltzer was founded by Katy Enger in 2017, with each flavor representing a fruit grown exclusively in the Pacific Northwest, and Ethan Stowell Restaurants was founded in 2007 and now operates over a dozen Seattle-area restaurants, with a third Tavolàta location having opened in July. The Selzery is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m." - Erin Russell

"A new hard-seltzer taproom from regionally pioneering San Juan Seltzer — in partnership with Ethan Stowell Restaurants and located inside the seltzer company’s SoDo production space — will serve hard-seltzer cocktails alongside a seafood-heavy menu (Dungeness crab cakes, oysters, clam chowder), plus a 400-square-foot heated patio with Adirondack chairs and a fire pit, TVs for games, and a kids’ play area." - Gabe Guarente
