15 Excellent Dallas Breakfast Destinations

"This gorgeous bakery also serves a mean sit-down breakfast. Highlights include poached eggs with prosciutto and arugula on an English muffin with Hollandaise sauce, a Belgium omelette with black beans, and a cup of oats with almond milk. Add on a basket of freshly baked bread just because you can." - Courtney E. Smith

9 Best Brunch Spots in Dallas | Condé Nast Traveler

"An out-of-the-way Uptown block facing the peaceful expanse of Greenwood Cemetery might be an unlikely place for a world-class brunch, but San Martin Bakery & Cafe, a soaring temple to Guatemalan pan dulce was never going to remain any kind of secret—it's just too much fun. Come for a quick cafe con leche from the bar, to fill your basket with reasonably priced breads and pastries, or for a full breakfast (you can choose from a wealth of seating arrangements). There's nothing quite like this place, in Dallas or beyond." - David Landsel

Guatemala’s Favorite Pastry Shop Will Soon Arrive In Uptown - Eater Dallas

"San Martin Bakery, a Guatemalan sweet shop known for its perfectly flaky pastries, will soon open its doors in Uptown Dallas. The bakery will arrive in the coming weeks at 3120 McKinney Avenue, according to its Twitter account, bringing a brand new destination for coffee, croissants, bread, sandwiches and more to the neighborhood. Founded in 1974, San Martin Bakery operates nearly 40 locations across Guatemala and El Salvador, where its earned a loyal following for its pastelitos, empanadas, palmeritas, and French breads. In addition to the pastries, San Martin Bakery will also serve a menu of sandwiches, salads, soups, and of course, burgers. The bakery’s cold brew coffee is reportedly famous, and a menu of boozy options like sangria will also be on offer. Assuming that the Dallas location is like San Martin’s other outposts, expect for it to become an all-day destination in Uptown. Uptown will have to wait a couple more months for the arrival of San Martin Bakery — it’s expected to open in “mid to late” July. Stay tuned for an official opening date." - Amy McCarthy

My server Laura was absolutely incredible! She always makes sure my friends and I have a memorable dining experience. In addition to having the sweetest server ever, the food is always fresh and undeniably delicious. The vibrant atmosphere and presentation at San Martin breathe elegance and vitality. I cannot say enough great things about this place! The coffee is arguably one of the best in Dallas, the bakery is phenomenal, and the staff are some of the kindest people you will ever meet!

Google
We came for brunch on Sunday and it was PACKED! Should have known 🤦🏻‍♀️ Parking was nuts and valet was backed up, but thankfully we found a free spot in the street a couple of blocks away. We requested to sit on the patio and were told the wait would be 35 minutes, even though we had walked right by the patio and there were 2 empty tables. I was told that they couldn’t seat us b/c there were other people ahead of us. Understandable. We browsed the bakery while we waited, and our mouths were watering. I don’t think we waited the full 35 minutes, but we were seated at one of the empty tables we had seen earlier. There seemed to be a little confusion about who our server was because we were approached by two different ones. Service was a little slow but again, it was crazy busy inside - very loud inside the restaurant. Patio was pretty peaceful. Food was mid - we had egg white veggie omelette, berry French toast, avocado toast, and a side of pupusas with coleslaw (they looked very interesting on the menu). BTW the menu is extensive - like 35 pages! But colorful pictures of every single dish, which was very helpful in deciding. Overall a good vibe, so-so food, and a little slow on the service.

Google
Nice atmosphere and friendly customer service. There are several drinks to choose from and most you can get an alternative if you can drink milk. I ended up getting a matcha latte with oat milk, which was super delicious. I did also try their agua de jamaica and horchata they were also pretty good. I would recommend trying those as well. We had the salmon and tostada as an appetizer. Those were also good. There are several food options to choose from, but I ended up ordering their signature burger.

Google
The atmosphere of the place is really good, lots of people, the food was very good, we waited up to 35 minutes at the entrance but it was worth it. But my favorite thing about the restaurant is that there are pictures on the menu. I will come back here 🙏🏼

Google
Food options are many. Place is beautiful pancake was great, however, In one of our dish egg was raw. Avocado toast is plain, and avocado was warm. The egg was cooked well, and that barely had runny yolk. I recommend visiting it and i will give it another chance.

Google
One of my favorite places for breakfast or brunch. Beautiful open space with charming touches. The food is flavorful and there’s plenty of options. Central American, Mexican, and some basic American options. The atmosphere is energetic and positive. Very good overall. Parking is a challenge, however.

Google
Fantastic food and service!!! Michelle our server was so sweet and welcomed us warmly and was very attentive. Oatmeal was delicious as was the Belgium omelet. We will be back!

Google
First time here and I really liked it. Reminds me of going to resorts down south... Definitely makes you feel like your somewhere else with the decor. Love the fact that you can see the kitchen, bakery and drink station. Lucia seemed to be the manager at the time and was very attentive to the restaurant operations. Magaly our waitress did a great job as well. She was quick and attentive to our needs.

Yelp
Great casual place to have happy hour or dinner. The food was so good. Portions were big, meat portions were generous. The pasta sauces were also sooo delicious. Many tables and booths inside and outside. There's also a bakery too. Happy hour has really good prices. The frozen marg was amazing. Sweet and fresh. The appetizer bread with tomato sauce was cheesy and good. Menu is super extensive and lots of options. Parking spaces outside that are easy

Yelp
Visited during a vacation trip. Get the sampler of mexican food and the carpaccio ~ The carpaccio brought me back the streets of Guanajuato. Will come back! Bakery is very pretty but had better skip dessert and go somewhere else

Yelp
Our recent trip was perfection. We dined on a Saturday morning for brunch. There were no reservations available so we took a chance and I'm so glad we did. We were told there was a 10-15 minute wait in a very busy and full lobby. We walked through the bakery taking in the beautiful pastries and smells while we waited. No more than 12 minutes and we were seated at a table in the middle of the restaurant. The place was full of life! We were promptly greeted by Roberto, who was an absolute gem. He was personable, knowledgeable, and so friendly. Since this was our first visit, he offered up some recommendations and gave us a few minutes to decide while he grabbed our drinks. Our food came out quickly, was perfectly cooked and omg was it yummy! Throughout our visit Roberto was attentive but never hovered- checking in on drinks at exactly the right times. I can't remember the last time we had this level of service. Our experience was so good we grabbed takeout for dinner that evening. Their brunch menu is huge, so we'll definitely be back to try more entrees.

Yelp
Came here for brunch in the middle of the week and it was packed! The aesthetics were beautiful inside with big windows and plants all around. We ordered the crab Benedict, huevos rancheros, and French toast. They were very accommodating to dietary restrictions and the food was fresh and tasty. They also have a cute bakery attached to the restaurant which had a variety of sweet treats!

Yelp
I arrived to this fantastic Guatemalan bakery franchise much much earlier than my friend, so of course I started with coffee and pastries. This was not my first time here, but it was my first time dining in, so I got myself a lovely little window seat at a high top bistro table. I ordered an Americano, which was done right, and I tried one of the healthy smoothies. If you don't drink them fast enough, they do start to separate in a rather unappealing way, so if how it looks matters to you, I don't recommend them for bringing to the office or a long car ride. The pastries, as usual, were delectable, and I highly recommend the vanilla croissant and the guava strudel. I will eat conchas any where I can find them, so I'm happy to say these were on point. Once my friend finally arrived with hugs and chisme, we switched gears and ordered a margarita and some real food. I appreciate an establishment that provides both your uppers and your downers in the same place! I ordered the black bean soup, a satisfyingly salty soup, and beef carpaccio with avocado and capers, which was a tangy, delightful tapas. Service was stellar. My waitress was super friendly and I enjoyed talking to her when she had the time. After a delightful visit, I ordered a bunch of desserts from the case and picked up a lovely floral coffee mug to remember my trip.

Yelp
Wanted something memorable and cute before I left Dallas and this was the right choice. The restaurant has a beautiful interior greenhouse/cathedral feel in the main room that was really so perfect with the morning light. The menu had so many great options but we went with our waiter's recommendation on his favorite dishes. Staff were all super friendly and the restaurant overall just had good vibes.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome bakery/restaurant for a full meal and pastries! They start you off with a complimentary bread basket and their breads are delicious! For the main courses, we tried the Mexican mollette which is an open faced sandwich with beans, cheese, chicken, and avocado. The bread was nice and soft and everything worked well together. I thought the french toast was really yummy too. The sampler plate was good for sharing - it had pupusas, sopes, and more. The service was great and there was complimentary valet parking which was a great feature. The vertical living wall inside was beautiful too. Overall, it is a great brunch spot!

Coco C.

Yelp
Good service and beautiful dining area with high ceiling. We ordered coffee, Italian cappuccino and they were standard. Salad with steak and the taco sampler were both yummy except the steak was little bit salty, but it was very tender! My friend asked if we like the complimentary bread that came with the meal, we didn't get any, maybe they no longer served it. We also bought some pastry. Almond croissant was so good that you must try it! Guava strudel must be tasty that my kids finished all. Keylime tart? Lemon tart ? The custard was too sweet, lack of desired tartness and the meringue was also very sweet, you can skip this and just get a trader joe frozen passion fruit tart instead.

Yelp
Revisited after many years and kind of disappointed. Food was bland, service was subpar. Still a cute restaurant though

Yelp
The food landscape across Texas is dominated by Mexican restaurants for as far as the eye can see. So, finding a Guatemalan restaurant brought immediate excitement, as I'd never had the opportunity to sample food from that country. The restaurant is fairly large, with an amply sized dining area as well as a coffee shop, bakery, and small store. Upon my arrival it was pretty busy, with a wait of roughly 20 minutes. I figured surely this place had to be good! Once seated I was given a rather extensive menu that had a multitude of options I wasn't expecting. Let's start with the drinks; they have a large selection of hot and iced coffee beverages, from regular coffee to specialty flavored and seasonal lattes in addition to fruit flavored creations and smoothies. Essentially, whatever kind of coffee you fancy, they have it! The food menu is vast, and there are an abundance of traditional as well as American breakfast items ranging from enchiladas and chilaquiles to omelettes, French Toast, and pancakes. Although it wasn't on the menu, the server was accommodating and allowed me to get a mocha. After a long hard look, I decided on the eggs with loroco and cheese. The mocha was a creamy blend of chocolate and espresso that was quite satisfying, while the eggs came with plantains, refried black beans, salsa, and a slice of cheese. Wow, the infusion of flavor was something to behold! The eggs were perfect, while the black beans and plantains delivered a boost of savory satisfaction. The best part of it all? I left feeling satisfied, not uncomfortably bloated. If you're in the Dallas area and want to step outside your comfort zone, check this place out. I will be sure to

Yelp
So glad we found this place via Yelp. While my SIL was in town, we were on the hunt for a good (and authentic) Latin brunch spot. The ambiance was great-- the place reminded me of a recent trip to Mexico City. The service was also fast, and attentive and our waiter was pretty great! We also took a trip to the bakery that they have directly in the restaurant and enjoyed our pickups there.
google avatar

Kayla T.

Yelp
I went in today to pick up a order. The staff was extremely nice and attentive while I waited for my order. I really enjoy the options to grab bakery items to take home and also the atmosphere is beautiful with all the greenery.
google avatar

Yelp
Love the family friendly vibe. There is a restaurant and separate bakery section, depending on what you're looking for. We arrived around 10am on a Saturday. There was a 20 minute wait to be seated, so we poked around the bakery and picked out some pastries while waiting. I also came back on a separate occasion to get more from the bakery. Everything is freshly made and delicious!
google avatar

Alan R.

Yelp
I tried the chocolate croissant and a small bread loaf. I enjoyed both items and would come back to try their dine in restaurant

Yelp
San Martin is a delightful place for many occasions. I stopped in for dessert and coffee on a Saturday night . There was no wait and plenty of tables. My server Isabel was nice and attentive. I enjoyed the Rustic Apple Tart a la mode and a white chocolate latte. The tart was warm and buttery, the apple chucks were the perfect size. I would definitely recommend getting it with ice cream. I will be visiting San Martin again. The brunch looked delicious. PS- check out the bakery (great prices)!
google avatar

Raymond M.

Yelp
Outstanding customer service by one of the waitress'. She was respectful and polite. Food was basic, you can get these type of meals elsewhere with so much more flavor. Spanish latte was good, but way too sweet. Coffee to milk ratio was off. 3/5 stars for the restaurant. The bakery is where it's at. Great selections of sweets. My favorites are the beef and chicken empanada! 5/5 for the bakery. Plenty of parking. Valet available. Parking garage available.
google avatar

Yelp
OK, this place is amazing. The service was incredible. The food was incredible. They have fast service. It's a lively atmosphere. It seems like all of the servers are trying to get you in and out. We didn't have a reservation we just showed up and magically were able to get in which is shocking! The prices are pretty darn good the beef carpaccio is what I recommend! Y ou will not go wrong with that.!
google avatar

Grisel A.

Yelp
A must try in Dallas. The views the ambiance The service is great The drinks fantastic The bakery well don't get me started everything you could think of. Can't wait to try the tarts Cool mimosas with hand made bracelets to take home. Can't wait to be back
google avatar

Yelp
I've been there twice now. So so delicious! And I love that they have valet! The environment is so nice & pretty. I believe their staff is very friendly & the bakery is amazing! The pizza is delicious! Really enjoyed the eggs Benedict, the farmers breakfast is also very good. Highly recommend the Guatemalan hot chocolate
google avatar

Tamera B.

Yelp
I've tried San Martin a few times and I would recommend! The experience is always nice and the food good. The ambiance and natural light creates a really bright and airy vibe. The service has been challenging sometimes with timeliness, but otherwise good. A couple times we got lost in the shuffle and it took awhile to get our dishes. The food has been done well in the restaurant and the bakery. I've had the breakfast enchiladas, chilaquiles, and molletes. All were delicious. We always grab a few baked goods like cookies and pastries before leaving and they always hit the spot.

Yelp
The place is really cool and has a nice selection. But the set up is kind of weird. We really just wanted to have coffee and pastries and sit down at a table. The hostess told us that we can just tell the waitress what we want and she will grab it for us from the bakery side. I took pictures of the items I wanted and started to show the waitress what we wanted. She didn't really know, and it seemed more like an inconvenience for her. She ended up grabbing the wrong thing. We asked for a guava strudel stick, and she came back with an apple one. Then we asked for the mini sausage rolls and instead we received breakfast sausage. She corrected the guava stick, but after I asked her twice. The first time she said there was no guava even though I was already over there and saw them. The sausage I didn't want to even tell her about because I felt like I was bothering her. The staff was all really friendly, but just a little misunderstanding when it comes to how the restaurant works. We both didn't really enjoy our drinks. I got a Spanish latte, and my husband got a Nutella cappuccino with an add shot. His just tasted like milk. Mine was mediocre. The complimentary bread was really good. And the guava stick was good when we finally got it. We didn't care much for the Dulce de leche roll. I wish we tried other things instead. This place has potential. The parking situation is a little weird. But they have valet. I would try other things next time.
google avatar

Kristy S.

Yelp
Have only had their savory bakery items and they were okay...nothing to write home about. Skip the beef empanada and try the chicken. The ham & cheese croissant was extremely dry. However, the service is excellent.
google avatar

Margaret S.

Yelp
The huevos rancheros were so good!!! The service was a bit slow. It wasn't cold like the reviews say. It was a bit noisy. I will be going back to try some bakery items.
google avatar

Marie N.

Yelp
Had a little brunch with my girlfriends at this beautiful restaurant. It started to rain outside and you could see the magnificent downpour from the large windows inside. We didn't have a reservation but we only had to wait about 10-15 mins for a party of 5 on a busy weekend! Staff were very nice and attentive. I ordered the Santa Fe salad and the beef was really tender! Solid salad in my opinion. We all ordered a Spanish latte and it all tasted different. Some had more milk and then some had a stronger coffee flavor. Wouldn't recommend getting if you are a coffee lover. Parking is a little difficult but they do offer valet!
google avatar

Amy Caroline Y.

Yelp
Food is always delish and service is great! Love their bakery! Ambience is nice. Price point is not too expensive...

Yelp
google avatar

Yolanda L.

Yelp
This bakery-restaurant is a must visit when in Dallas. The taste on their plates and sweets are delicious. Just make sure what the drinks include because it's not the same as what we are used to. Service from our waitress was amazing. Constantly checking up on our table and never made an unwelcome gesture. Bakery is connected to the restaurant, so you can just go walk and see what sweets you want. The ambiance was great too. Very welcoming.
google avatar

Yara M.

Yelp
We arrive at this place and were surprised with complementary valet parking. We never thought the place was as big based on the pictures from other reviewers. The building is very ample and nicely decorated through and through. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I appreciate it. The nicely made menus with pictures that make you crave every single dish. This added to the delicious smell of sweet bread, freshly prepared at their bakery. Every single dish we ordered was nicely presented and tasted delicious. Plantains and black beans brought me back home in the south of Mexico. The spicy salsa is so delicious and authentic, I had never tried anything like it. This is the must visit place in Dallas.
google avatar

Val H.

Yelp
A nice restaurant to spend a weekend evening with my husband. We had a lovely dinner for two which was nice and romantic. We.liked absolutely everything from the food to the awesome service.
google avatar

Kady L.

Yelp
Second time here. It is always a packed place. The wait wasn't too long. We were seated probably within 5-8 minutes. The service wasn't so great. Breakfast was good. We got a medium hibiscus but it was nothing like the photo we saw. It was alright, nothing amazing. French toast was the best! Cute bakery section near the seating area.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
Easily one of the most 5 STARS places in the Dallas area! The interior is just beautiful and spacious and clean. The decorations are so pretty and everyone here is very attentive and nice. I came on the weekend with a friend and was told the wait would be 25 minutes - we were seated in 10! Upon sitting down, we were given a basket of bread/pastries from the bakery which were good. I got a caramel cappuccino, avocado toast with fruit, and a side of fried plantains (which were INCREDIBLE and only $1.75!!). The food came out quickly, was delicious, and was super affordable for the quality and portion sizes. You are also able to scan a QR code and pay online, which was convenient. There is a small store/bakery connected to the restaurant with many different treats, from savory croissants to fruit tarts to loaves of bread. It is self-serve, and you grab a basket with tongs and fill it with what you want before paying up front. I have done this twice, and everything I got was a hit. I especially loved the raspberry croissant! It was the perfect mix of buttery, sweet, and tart. This area also had items such as mugs for purchase. LOVED everything about it the 2x I've stopped by, and I will be back!!
google avatar

Checos T.

Yelp
We try this place it was our first time there and the experience was great from the food to our server 10 out of 10. We do recommend a visit most definitely. Special kudos to our server on point if every employee is like she is a an employee you won't be wrong going there. We also buy some bread to go great bread.
google avatar

Monica V.

Yelp
I love that this place has a bakery in the restaurant I just feel like the food is alright I feel like the food is not season that well and small portions as well. It is not the best, the service is great they do have valet on site as well. This place is just not for me.
google avatar

Tracy L.

Yelp
WHAT I ORDERED: Sopes, Carbonara, Spanish Latte, Immune Booster Smoothie PARKING: Parking lot alongside the building INSIDE: There is a bakery to the left, which I wish I checked out before I left, and a dining area to the right. The waitress was friendly and food came out relatively quick. Bathrooms are near the bakery area. THE FOODS/DRINKS: The carbonara looked appetizing but I was a little underwhelmed with the flavor. However, for the price and getting shrimp and chicken, it was a decent meal. You get 3 sopes per order which were decent in size and had a good texture with a crunch on the outside. The Spanish Latte was light and had cinnamon-y flavor I enjoyed. I also tried the immune booster smoothie that tasted almost like an orange Julius.
google avatar

Jingwen Z.

Yelp
I enjoy bringing out of town guests to San Martin, which always has impeccable ambience, whether you opt for their spacious and naturally lit dine-in area for brunch or you're just passing through the cafe/bakery area for pastries. They have an array of Guatemalan pastries as well as more general desserts (e.g. fruit tart, napoleons, etc.) and coffee for the perfect combo. They also have an extensive menu for brunch/lunch, mostly featuring large savory plates with generous portions. The staff have all been nice and overall it's been a good experience every time we go!
google avatar

Gordon M.

Yelp
The food was DELICIOUS, the service was great, and the atmosphere was comforting. I got the Strawberry pancakes and a strawberry/ pineapple smoothie.
google avatar

Oso E.

Yelp
The food here is really great, but the parking is an absolute nightmare unless the street parking is open. A massive pileup for valet makes it difficult to get in for brunch on the weekends, but the food makes up for it. The service could use some work, but they are really busy, and I noticed some tables getting different service with different servers. Water for everyone at the table is pretty standard everywhere, but we had to request it and they never got refilled. The food was all great. The chilaquiles, the toasts, the smoothies - everything was good. It was busy, but not overly loud - which is nice.

Ryan D.

Yelp
The service for a to-go bakery was the worst in the area. I ordered an iced americano (espresso, water, ice) and it took 12 minutes, mind you - there was no ice when it arrived. Ham and cheese croissant was okay but we can pack it a little fuller and find away to let the bakery area be less of a cluster. San martín :(
google avatar

Tony T.

Yelp
Not bad place. Very good bakery and the food is good. The vibe is good but it can get busy on weekends
google avatar

Suzie M.

Yelp
There is something for everyone! Flavors galore-not your typical brunch spot. Don't forget to take time to go to bakery after your meal. You won't be disappointed
google avatar

Maggie L.

Yelp
first time visit for breakfast. This is a very popular place. Our server was good, but then kind of disappeared. I had to French toast which was a little soggier than I prefer and my husband had something that was a lot of food. Would come again, but would wait a few months.
google avatar

Nika W.

Yelp
Omgoodness how did I just find this place ! I was so Magical !!! My friend went with me and she's super picky! Her response to the food was "I'm very happy" ! The ambiance was wonderful, valet parking, great food, clean restaurant & our server Esteban was a delight ! I can't wait to come back
google avatar

Jamie T.

Yelp
Great food for cheap! Sort of reminds me of like an upscale Cheddars (but way better) due to the vast menu. Bakery is also great as well, great place to go with a large group! Ambiance is absolutely amazing with the decor. The service was subpar unfortunately, the waiter left us waiting for a long time for our drinks.
google avatar

Ella R.

Yelp
Ambiance was meh, nothing cozy or inviting like I would expect from a coffee shop/ cafe Service was not great, took two people to take my coffee order, and then I was standing by the espresso machine for quite some time, and no one was there , but then someone came out from the kitchen and brought me my drink? Not sure why Drink was just okay
google avatar

Lorena M.

Yelp
Omg. I wish I loved in Dallas just for this place. I got six torta chilenas and they were delish. The staff was friendly, the place was clean and packed there was a lot of ppl waiting for a table so get there early. Prices were reasonable!! Can't wait to go again !!
google avatar

Rosaly S.

Yelp
Had breakfast here around 8 am on a Sunday, not many people. By 11am it was packed! They offer complimentary vallet parking, convenient. The staff were kind and attentive. If you're looking for a Spanish breakfast vibe, this is the place for you! I ordered avocado toast, although I really wanted a breakfast sandwich(wasn't a option) Over all, enjoyed my time here. Spent a few hours catching up with a friend and didn't feel rushed no matter how packed it was getting. Granted, we ended up moving to give others space but we were able to sit elsewhere and finish our coffee!
google avatar

april l.

Yelp
The atmosphere here is everything!!! It's as if you are eating outside on a patio but you are actually inside. We loved looking at all the bakery items. Our lunch was incredible. Server was friendly. We had to ask for a lunch menu. We arrived at 1145 and lunch service doesn't start till 12. We had to ask for our check when we were ready to pay. The valet is complimentary but of course we tipped.
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
Food was a 10/10! We got the chai latte with lactose free milk and the berry drink along with salmon egg Benedict, sampler appetizer, and breakfast enchiladas. Everything tasted amazing. Everything was well seasoned and not bland! The place itself is beautiful and lively. The bakery is next door and their options all look fresh and beautiful. We picked up some bakery items to go and I know they won't disappoint. We will be coming back! The place also had free valet service which was nice too. Our server Esteban and everyone else were extremely friendly and happy to help.

Yelp
I went in for a coffee and ended up buying a lot of delicious bakery items all of which were fantastic. Great find. The store and restaurant has a cozy ambiance, service was excellent.
