"This Pacific Highway taqueria is a Tigard standby for gargantuan burritos, meat-stuffed quesadillas, and its case chock-full of Mexican breads and pastries. However, it’s hard to miss the tacos here, with house-made, beautifully executed white corn tortillas, soft and hearty in size. Fillings include the classics — chorizo, asada, carnitas — but the balance of char and acidity on the pastor makes it a fun option. Those who prefer dorados, or hard-shell tacos, will like the versions here." - Nathan Williams, Ron Scott

"There’s a Hawaiian food cart in Forest Grove called Kuli Kuli. I like his food a lot, it’s so good and soulful. He has this dish called Pork Tomato Onion — it’s like lechon kawali stir-fried in tomato and onion — that’s so us!" - Thom Hilton

Google
I ordered chicken taquitos four of them.. I noticed a little bit of difference in texture that I was expecting and I look closer and it's potato. Like they were using filler for the taquitos cuz I didn't want to put as much chicken as needed so they use potato? It's gross. As you can see in a photo there's more potato than there is meat.

Legit Taqueria & Panaderia out in Tigard! Worthy of the drive from NE Portland! Enough said?!

I’ve been coming to Sanchez Taqueria for over 10 years now, I remember when it was just a small taco spot but always packed because the food is amazing! If you’re looking for small street tacos this place is not for you, these are nice size tacos on homemade corn tortillas!

The food was good, but a lot of it had this artificial butter after-taste.

Google
Greeted on entry. You order at the counter and take a number to your table. Asked a few questions and made our orders. Many people were bringing trays of baked goods to the counter, lots of variety. Chili relleno were really good, wrapped in super fluffy eggs. Loved the tortillas. Beans made from scratch. Everyone else said they liked their taste of relleno best over carnitas enchilada and carnitas tacos. I tried both sauces, both spicy, verde was more spicy in my opinion, red was super earthy. Food came out fast, served with a smile.

Google
Such good food and a variety to choose from. I can't help but order the fish tacos. Two alone are plenty, as portions are generous. The sauces are excellent, too. I can't seem to get enough of the green sauce. It's hard to pick just one thing from the dessert case; pastries, pan dolce, cakes, flan, puddings. I end up heading home with a bag full of sweets. You have to order at the counter, and the lines can get long, but they are efficient, and things move along quickly.

Google
Food was delicious, prices were very affordable, and the service was great. Thank you! I will certainly recommend this place and bring friends and family along next time. I'm anxious to try more of the menu. 😋

I come here whenever I'm in Portland. I especially enjoy the two house specials. I like both but I prefer the huarache. They have two house hot sauces. The one in the yellow bottle is a mild green tomatillo base and the one in the red bottle is a red spicy pepper based sauce. It is genuinely pretty hot. The horchata is good and I regret not getting the milhojas dessert. It looked really good. They are also a pasteleria as well by the way.

Yelp
As is a commonality with all restaurants of different ethnicities, if the people from that culture are eating there, it's reasonably a good sign. That is true with Sanchez Taqueria in Tigard. This past Sunday in the early afternoon, two of us ventured over to a packed parking lot and a fairly full restaurant. Yes, on a Sunday. It was highly unexpected, but I guess that meant the food must be good or lots of people were picking up pan dulce. They do advertise their panadaria right outside. A line to get in, an asada torta for me and an asada burrito for my buddy and we're sitting down and looking over at eight cases full of Mexican pastries with an endless supply of carts coming out of the back to replenish even more of the sweet delicacies. In all of my years eating Mexican food and/ or going to places with Mexican bakeries, I had never seen such an overturn of desserts. Crazy. It also meant that prior to leaving, we would be purchasing some. It's safe to assume that the bread is made in-house and the torta was better than most I've had. The meat was tasty and it wasn't dry. Lots of good seasoning. The red and green hot sauces on the tables are good, but also not too hot, for those that aren't partial to spicy, but there is a chili oil on the table that solved that for the rest of us. It made me sweat quite fast and provided one heck of a zing. The pastries? I got a couple of churros, a concha, flan and a pastry with chocolate. The churros and the chocolate dessert were damn good. The flan, not as great with a little bit much of a alcohol flavor towards the bottom of it, and the concha was as good as any other concha I've ever had. And no, they were not all consumed at once or even not the same day. Shoot, I'd have to be rolled off the couch if I did something like that. All I know, is that in the dozens of times passing by Sanchez Taqueria and only just going in, I have to kick myself and will be back a lot quicker to try more items off their menu. And more desserts. Enjoy. Support local PDX (and Tigard).

Yelp
One of my coworkers recommended this place. As Mexican food enthusiasts, we figured we should check it out. When we arrived, there were many customers during lunchtime. The staff was busy taking orders and delivering food to tables. Some customers dined in while others went to the pastry cabinet to get some bakery items to go. Most reviews mentioned their burritos, so that's what we ordered. I got a burrito con lengua, and my fiance ordered a burrito con carne asada. When the food arrived, the server also brought green and red salsas in mustard and ketchup-like squeeze bottles which were indeed delicious. Our reviews of the burritos are mixed. I enjoyed my lengua burrito. It was big, soft and full of beans, rice, and shredded cabbage. It reminded me of the burritos that I had when I lived in Eugene during my college years. The lengua was tender and tasty, I kept eating more even though I was already full. My fiance was not a big fan of his burrito because it had too much "filler." He prefers "San Diego-style" Carne Asada or California burritos where the meat/cheese/pico de gallo or french fries are not drowned out by beans, rice, and cabbage. He said he would prefer the other fillings on the side, or not at all. As for the bakery goods, we enjoyed the churro, concha bread, and the chocolate ganache-covered mini custard cake. They were soft and delicious, we would highly recommend them. However, we were not a big fan of the flan. It tasted more like jello and lacked the creamy texture we were expecting. Overall, I would come back again for more lengua dishes and get myself more churros next time!

Yelp
I've only been here once so far but it keeps popping up in my head to go back because my first time here was such a pleasant surprise! The prices are INCREDIBLE. And the food is very authentic, well seasoned, and lots of different options. Plenty of places to sit inside and there is even a bakery located inside as well! When we came, lots of customers got baked goods while stopping in and it was very steadily busy. Only alcohol is Mexican beer in the bottle - just an fyi. We got the nachos and tacos. you can tell the taco shells are made in house fresh and we enjoyed getting 3 different tacos. Each were very big!. The nachos were MASSIVE. And so cheap! Great to split for a table and piled high. We were so full. The burritos look incredible and that's what I plan to get next time!

Yelp
It's been hard for me to find authentic Mexican food in Oregon but this place is fantastic! Best in Tigard for sure. Huge portions for a great price too.

Ploy N.

Yelp
Their salsas are FIRE! Some of the most refreshing and flavorful salsas I've had. You could taste the freshness of the ingredients. Big plus that they all pack a solid punch as well. Now the food was also some of the more OG Mexican tacos, burritos, enchiladas in the area. I got the Pastor Burrito and it's heavenly filling, a total comfort item. The tortilla was soft but slightly grilled. The inside was packed with tasty rice, beans, and succulent pastor -- there was no skimping on the inside. In fact, the burrito easily cleared the forearm test (being bigger than my forearm). I ate half and saved the rest for another meal. I also like that the burrito was not salty like at some places. Got to also try their Chips and Salsa which, again, were very fresh. Loved that their chips came out warm and not at all oily. Their Flautas were nice and crispy too and filled with tasty carnitas. They're out of lengua when I was there so that on its own warrant another visit! The inside is simple and homey. You order, pay, and then take a seat. They also sell pastries and treats so this could also be a good breakfast spot. Prices are great as well. I'll be back!

Yelp
A local taqueria/panaderia combo hidden in the suburbs this joint brings the portion size!!! I usually try to be a clean plate ranger but if I would've kicked the plate clean I wouldn't have had any room for the MYRIAD of baked goods they also offer. The handmade tortillas are fantastic with a bit of char. Wait time can be a little long once you've ordered but boy is it worth it. Authentic and clean, I've never been disappointed by going here when I crave Mexican food.

Justin R.

Yelp
Sanchez Taquería gives me a lot of conflicting thoughts. For being so close to me, this is such a great spot of Mexican food. I have been twice now and my two dishes varied in quality very much. My first time dining I had ordered the chicken enchiladas (accompanied by rice and beans, of course). Enchiladas tend to be one of my regular go-tos for Mexican restaurants, so I know what I like, not to say I'm picky about them or have high standards. Overall, though, they tasted a bit dry, which is wild considering that enchiladas are usually doused in sauce. Yet, I felt that the quality and quantity of sauce was particularly lacking. Perhaps it was a bad batch or off day, but I would not recommend it nor have it again. However, and I really should've stuck to my initial plan of getting one the first time around, their burritos are beastly good. Other than the fact that I drive by the place all the time, I heard of Sanchez through a coworker who brought in quite possibly the most massive burrito I had ever seen. You better believe I got one my second visit. These monsters wrapped in tortillas are practically the size of your forearm, an absolute insane size for being around only $10. I chose the pastor for my meat of choice, which was packed with juices. I honestly can't believe I ate it all in one sitting, but I had to with how good it was. If there was one negative about it, I'd say that I wish that all of the ingredients were more evenly distributed throughout the burrito rather than sections or bites being dominated by one or two fillings... but that's bit of a stretch for a complaint when many places don't do that. To be frank, I do wish this restaurant were more of a "proper" sit-down restaurant where we had table wait-service. Instead, you have to first order at the counter and then they will deliver it to you. Because of that, don't expect anyone to come to your table to assist you further once you've been delivered your food. I can understand that this may be a personal preference of mine. In short, go to Sanchez for their burritos. They are filling and practically a two person meal. I can't speak for the rest of the items on the menu other than the two I reviewed, but do yourself a favor and just go with the burrito.

Yecenia P.

Yelp
AMAZING- this place is pact so just know you have to wait in line then try to find a table then wait a while for food. Food was hot and great the burrito was delicious I haven't tasted one this good in a while. Some platters come with hand made tortillas many different restaurants have stopped doing that and give out store bought. The bakery is great they bring out fresh batches by the hour selling out on bakeries. The only con is that I noticed they don't clean there windows it's un appetizing eating by a window with a bunch of nasty hand prints and grime. The little things like taking the time to clean windows make a big difference on showing how your business runs.

Unca T H.

Yelp
Great food served in a nice atmosphere. They also have freshly made Mexican breads with a good variety of items. Mexican beers and sodas as well. Food is served pretty quickly, even when they are busy.

Bink W.

Yelp
Look at this beautiful Tres Leches cake! They did a spectacular job and it tastes phenomenal. We got the mocha flavor and my husband, who is Mexican and a big Tres Leches fan, highly approved.

Breanne A.

Yelp
The burrito was roughly the size of my left thigh and I couldn't be a happier customer god bless u 4ever

Johnny C.

Yelp
These tacos are not it. They don't even have salsas, cilantro, or onions to go with them. Just flour tortilla and dry meat

Charlie T.

Yelp
Still a great spot to go for some authentic Mexican food. The portions are generous, and the flavors are amazing. Haven't had a bad time here yet. We got a combination plate, breakfast burrito, pastor taco, and churros for this visit.

Steven K.

Yelp
4 taco plate. Home made shells. Bug tacos. Great tortas too. Rest here whenever I can.

Mitzi K.

Yelp
" Just had the most amazing meal at Taquería Sanchez, The flavors were incredible, and the service was top-notch. Highly recommend trying their tacos and micheladas. Can't wait to go back! "

Chris L.

Yelp
Really good, authentic Mexican food. I've been once so far and enjoyed a pork, chicken, and beef taco. But I need to come back again to try other things. Their case of postres also looked really interesting, so definitely need more time here. I'll be back!

Austin G.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and a large selection. I've tried many items and everything is done well and consistent. This is one of the few places that get sopes the way I like them. The amount of food is great for the prices. My kids spilled a drink and they were fairly responsive to clean it up. The enchiladas and huaraches are cooked in a deliciously unique way.

Juan S.

Yelp
From the exterior, there's nothing really standout about the place other than it clearly being a Spanish styled restaurant. However, the two-in-one combo of panaderia and restaurant is awesome. The pan dulce (I haven't tried) looks amazing and the food, which comes in large portions, is awesome too. And it is all made in house! The Jamaica is pretty good and paired with the chicken quesadilla that I had, I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. The prices are fair and there's plenty of seating space accompanied by a relaxed, Spanish vibe. Overall, an underrated, great location!

Mollee S.

Yelp
Great Food. The employees are very nice and helpful. Love the Chili Relleno Burrito ... So Good

Arturo R.

Yelp
Very amazing food and great customer service definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants in Tigard. Food also came out very fast and store also had sweats and bread and they are something you can not miss out on.

David F.

Yelp
The reviews run hot or cold. I understand that as I liked this place a few years ago and I liked it very much. Then it went downhill. BUT, stopped in as a better choice than Jack in the Box next door! And, it was as good as I remembered. Fresh food and a nice bakery selection of Mexican delicacies. Will come back again.

Jonathan Y.

Yelp
The workers were very nice and there was an amazing selection of pastries. I really enjoyed the caramel churros. I got the 4 tacos of al pastor and the taco shells held their crunch so well. Most crunchy tacos I've had will get soft very quickly. The flavor of the Al pastor was good and the fixings on top were abundant that after eating the tacos, I took a tortilla from my wife and made a small soft taco with the extras with it. The tortilla was very soft but didn't get soggy from the sauce either.

Anna M.

Yelp
This place is like the Super Bowl of tacos. Awesome people, very friendly....NEVER had any problems. All of their food is home made....and you can taste it. Especially their hand made tortillas!!!! You haven't experienced quality of food like this until you have tried a hand made tortillas. It's changes the taco. Trust me once you do this, it's hard to go back to store-stinky tortillas. And they even make their own Mexican bread ...freshly....you notices it as soon as you walk in...smells like you're in heaven.

Chely C.

Yelp
why dont they make more menudo on the weekends! such a disappointment to drive all the way here and they always run out.

Harmony G.

Yelp
I have heard how authentic this local place is on Barbur so we went yesterday for a late lunch. The place was pretty busy. That's good. We both ordered different enchiladas, mine with rice and beans my friend ordered just rice with hers. They pretty significantly over charged for lunch, and were willing to refund the excess. The rice and beans were luke warm and bland. They brought my friends plate with beans, which they corrected, but it took a few minutes. Both plates had the same enchiladas on them in spite of ordering different ones. The enchiladas were dry and uninteresting. Maybe we just ordered the wrong items. Not in a hurry to go back.

Desmond V.

Yelp
Honestly the best Mexican food I have had in my life. They have an extensive menu featuring authentic Mexican food, including many vegetarian and vegan options. It has a very authentic feel to it.

19jpa86 ..

Yelp
Sanchez is always so good but so expensive for Mexican food so we rarely go anymore. We were craving menudo today and it was truly disappointing, and pretty gross to say the least. We're used to menudo having "some" hair as it's impossible to remove all of it, but this was way too much! And for the whopping price of almost $20 a plate...we won't be getting menudo here anymore.

JeffDeb P.

Yelp
Food is good here and very authentic. But if you're not authentic then you may be ignored! I have been here to times and both times my order took longer than the people who ordered before it after me. Suggest going to another play if you don't want to be ignored.

Cindy G.

Yelp
The restaurant was bustling and the reviews had us anticipating some tasty Mexican food. They make their pan dulce on premise. The concha was delightful; fluffy, sweet, and satisfying. The ojo del toro was dry and rock hard. The coconut macaroon was very dense and tasted artificial. The custard filled version of the raspberry and coconut mini cake was tasty and moist. Hubby has the two fish tacos (soft) with a side of refried beans. The fish is tilapia and the flour tortillas are homemade and soft. The tilapia wasn't over cooked but lacked in flavor. The refried beans were runny and salty. I had the four hard taco plate. 2 carne asada, one chicken, and 1 carnitas. The plant is only tacos. Mostly a la carte menu with a few combo plates that come with rice, beans, tortillas, and roasted jalapeño. The shells were super crispy, all the protein was DRY and each taco had shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and sprinkling or cotija cheese. Really hard to choke down and didn't finish. Lacking in flavor and disappointing. Also ordered the chips and salsa. Chips super crispy, needed salt, and the salsa tasted like watery tomato paste. All in all, pretty disappointed with the food. I'm not feeling good about this review as I love supporting local and small businesses. Will try to give it another go and update.

julie l.

Yelp
Big fans of food but the prices have gone way up and the portions are smaller. The markup on just beans and rice is crazy. Bummer.

Amanda L.

Yelp
Authentic tacos, tortillas made in house. Everyone was kind to my gringo self. A little expensive but everything is now so I don't blame them. The tacos were so big I couldn't finish three for dinner (which I can usually do!). Was nice to have leftovers though. The place was clean and inside is pretty large. Food came out quick even though it was busy. Will come again. Panderia looks amazing but I was too full this time!

Karla F.

Yelp
I Order a Tres Leches Cake on Oct 3 to pick up on the 6 of Oct. The cake was not Tres leches it was dry a total of $65. Usually every one wants cake to go, I have dry cake no body wanted. I talked to the Boss about this and they claimed if I would have called, they would make another for me?. They refuse to reinburst me or apologize for there mistakes. The owner blamed me from making the mistake of not calling them so the could make another one right away. It's the last time I step in to that business in general, Don't order cakes they are not Tres Leches their cake are dry as Hell!

Yahir G.

Yelp
Los tacos aquí son tan, tan buenos para existir. La panadería también es demasiado buena para existir. Es tan bueno que exista TODO este LUGAR. Aunque puede estar lleno después de la misa, es un 5/5.

Madzia A.

Yelp
I don't quite understand some of the bad reviews here!? My partner and I ordered take-out via phone call for the first time here tonight and we had no issues/the young lady speaking was very nice! We just love Mexican food and this food was amazing!, so much so, that I felt inclined to immediately share our takeaway! Seeing that we recently re-located to Oregon, this is hands down our favorite Mexican food thus far! I read about this restaurant on Reddit (out of all places), while we still lived in MA, and this food surely did not disappoint! I took a Yelper's recommendation and ordered the fish burrito, wet, with green sauce. Oh my gosh!, it was soo so good! The flavors were spot on, and it certainly was not bland, as some other Yelpers have stated about their orders. It was a big, happy, burrito filled with protein, rice, beans, cabbage, etc. I ate each piece smothered in sauce, and a bit of pico! Heaven! It was big enough to save half for tomorrow to savor! :) We can't wait to eat this Mexican food again! Next time we will stop by and dine in-person, and try the pastries that everyone raves about in the reviews! My partner is asking his Mexican gaming friend for recommendations as we speak, as he was quite clueless/ wasn't sure what to get while in the state of awe at the enormity of the bakery wall while waiting for our order! We've never seen so many pastries/nor are we knowledgeable of them aside from the standard flan, tres leches, churros, fried ice cream, etc. :)

Susan S.

Yelp
Their food and catering, amazing! I had a party for 12 people and they went above and beyond. The price was so reasonable and food was fresh! Their packaging was very poor, the beans and salsa spilled all over. And they don't offer delivery which is a huge bummer!!!! Sanchez Please offer delivery service!!!!

Taylor B.

Yelp
After driving past this place for 3+ years saying "oh man, we should go there sometime" we finally came in for lunch. The place seems like a total hole in the wall but it was JAM PACKED. After reading Yelp reviews, we decided on carnitas tacos, a carne asada burrito with potatoes added on, and then al pastor tacos (this wasn't suggested on Yelp, I just love Al Pastor everything). We waited about 25 minutes for our food to come and spent some of that time perusing the huge selection of baked goods they offer from the panaderia. While we waited, we noticed almost every table had soup going out to them. I'm not sure if that's the "shrimp soup" on the menu or a Sunday menudo special, but it was the place to be to get some rainy afternoon soup. When our order came out we were happy to see the portions were huge. We also received a red and green salsa with the meal which were both spicy and delicious; we drenched our food in it. The food was delicious- the tortillas had a really nice chew to them and were very fresh tasting. The tacos were pretty big. The al pastor tacos were awesome and I would eat them every day if my waistline would allow it. We decided we're not carnitas people because we like more seasoning on our meats, but if you ARE a carnitas person you'll love the carnitas tacos because they do not skimp on the meat. My partner is a big burrito guy so he loved it. I thought it could have had more carne asada in it. We grabbed two baked goods on the way out- a churro and a flaky pastry with filling in it (not sure what it was called!). We found the churro had a filling on the inside and the pastry filling was a coconut cream of sorts. Both were delicious and didn't last a full day out our house. We will 110% be back to try more items from both the taqueria and panaderia. If you are like us and have always wanted to stop in, just do it! You won't regret it.

Kristen Z.

Yelp
Homemade tortillas... big tacos... amazing burritos. No grilled chicken or guac.. but they have shredded chicken that's marinated and seasoned very well and they have sliced avocado. For dessert the tres leches cake is so good!

Gita R.

Yelp
Best torta and taco salad, never disappoint. The bakery is really good too. Have tried the other close by restaurants none of them as good as Sanchez.

Jackie H.

Yelp
I've only had the pan dulce from here but it's good. The rest of the food smells really good but I don't know. And these write ups require more words so it's hard just saying what I experienced lol.

Raeleen S.

Yelp
Funny how Chipotle is what I equated as Mexican food until I stepped through the doors of Sanchez. I honestly felt transported to the other side of the border. A walk-up counter with a vast menu to order from. I had no idea what I wanted so I asked for whatever was their favorite - received a chili relleno burrito that was fantastic! Loved the cultural diversity - my only regret is not ordering any of the pastries or bread. Hoping to visit again soon to remedy that faux pas.

Ben A.

Yelp
I ordered take out and they got my order wrong. Gave me items I didn't order. The enchiladas were dry! It was so crowded with people when I got there, in such a small lobby, I didn't even look at my receipt. I just swiped my card, signed my receipt and got out of there. Plus they are pricy. I won't be going back here again!

Chris G.

Yelp
This would have been a four star review based on the food but I took off one star due to getting nickel and dime'd. Ordered a Carne Asada Burrito for take out with a grilled jalapeño on the side, and three of their red sauces. Guess what, for take out they add a charge for each sauce, however if you eat in, no charge... I call BS on this. The actual Burrito was tasty, and the jalapeño adds great flavor. Service was good for take out. Plenty of quality steak in the Burrito and a great home made tortilla. Their red sauce is very good, and very So long story short, don't screw folks on take out and you get a better rating.

Larry T.

Yelp
Breakfast booooorito is bigger than yo head. Taste pretty damn good too. The salsa is amazing, has a good kick to it and if i was a criminal i def wouldve stole the bottle. My regret is that i was too pre occupied with the breakfast burrito that i forgot to buy them churros before leaving. #churroiwillbeback

Nancy T.

Yelp
Good food and a good pastry highly recommend they have a great service and very efficient staff Is a big restaurant

Chris D.

Yelp
Best ever carnitas. I love this place. Easy parking, easy pickup or eat in. Love the verde burrito or tacos. Meal plates are huge.

Dorinda M.

Yelp
Their pollo super burrito is delicious and portion is huge! Enough for two meals. They have in house bakery.

Teresa Ivonne C.

Yelp
Really good food, a bit disorganized but worth the wait, the tacos and tortas of milanesa are the best!!

Sasha P.

Yelp
Food is CONSISTENTLY amazing. Whole menu is fire but I stick with tacos or carne asada plate. Homemade tortillas and the tacos are full size. None of those teenie tacos BS you get at other taco places. Prices are fair and SAVE ROOM FOR pan dulce/dessert!

Len L.

Yelp
Parking lot was full. It seems promising. Ordered my tacos to go. I vaguely remember ordering their tacos a few years ago. But after my first bite, I realized why I avoided this place. Tacos were dry, lacks flavor and unappealing. The salsa verde and rojo, nothing remarkable. Writing this review for my own reference. REMINDER TO SELF: Don't come here again. EVER!

Grant W.

Yelp
Got a carnitas burrito, it was huge and reminded me of a good burrito from San Francisco. They will assume you want one red and one green salsa with your order and charge for extra so be sure to specify what you want because they are weird about it. Otherwise good food.
