Sandwich Girl Cafe

Today I set out to ​compare the two different philosophies of sandwich-making and their chicken cutlet sandwiches. ​Defonte’s of Brooklyn (The Classic) ​Defonte’s is the "old guard" and the Sandwich Girl Cafe was the challenger. If you’re looking for a traditional Italian-American "gut-buster" that tastes like 1922, Defonte’s usually wins. But if you want a perfectly seasoned, modern cutlet with a bit of a "zest" from the pico and aioli, Sandwich Girl made a very strong case for this five star review.

Ok, the hype is real! I’ve been frequenting this beautiful spot to try different sandwiches, and every item on the menu is just perfect. Amazing food and even better customer service—this is easily the perfect neighborhood go-to. Pictured: the egg quesadilla that keeps bringing me back every single time.

Nice friendly cozy establishment. Reminds me of Manhattan. A little too cozy to have a table in the front by the register. Thought this place was larger from the amount of people sitting outside when the weather was warmer but sadly mistaken. Great place for grab and go but may feel cramped while you have a coffee and pull out your laptop. Food was ok service was excellent. Fries were great and sandwich was pretty good. Will have to get more items on the menu but everything looks promising.

Had Mac Momma, Disco Fries, and Po Girl. All tasted amazing! Even the side salad was great and flavorful! No pictures because we inhaled it so quickly. Would definitely go back!

Came here for the first time and it didn’t failed. Got the recommendation to get the BB sandwich with disco fries and their were both delicious. Fully recommend. I will come back here again for sure. Good service👍.

This place is exceptional. We had breakfast here, and the food was cooked to perfection. I had the sandwich with just egg, bacon, and cheese, very simple, yet somehow one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. Also tried the French toast and it was amazing as well. We were surprised that both breakfasts we ordered came with a tomato, cucumber, feta, and greens salad, but the flavor worked remarkably well for breakfast. Quality ingredients, great service.

At first bite, I immediately knew this sandwich was something special. I had the chopped cheese, and it came with a little side salad that I used inside the 'which. My server also offered to let me try their Guava sauce, which they are bottling and selling soon, and that was delicious! Such a cute little cafe, and I look forward to trying a new sandwich before long! Bonus, the weather was amazing for a seat at their outdoor tables, so it was a wonderful experience.

I was craving Mexican food m but drove by this small,eye-catching, cutesy place and went here instead. So worth it! Everything on the menu sounds yummy. We got the Fit for Goddesses Burger & Mac Momma. INSANE. Definitely coming back to try breakfast and everything else!

Honestly, $11 for a fresh chicken sandwich is park slope is robbery. Not from us, from them. It is priced super low for what it's worth. I am very impressed with the crunch on that cutlet. It was hot and freshly made and fried. Bun was soft, fresh toppings! I'm blown away at this hidden gem! The place is small and a take out place. Looks like it is run by one person, which is impressive. She was friendly too when I walked in- despite her having her hands full. I will definitely be back

Ok so I ordered from here yesterday. The kahila, which is described as having crispy chicken as the protein. I believe I selected the spicy tsaziki sauce because it sounded interesting! I was excited about this place. So I get onto the street and had to double park, plus I was heading into work so I was trying to be quick. I walked in and a young lady emerged from the back, was very friendly, I smiled and Said I was picking up an order and she handed me the container on the counter. I thanked her and told her I was really looking forward to trying it. So I get to work and open the container and it was definitely not the correct sandwich. I believe I wound up being served a tuna sandwich. It was on a rosemary sandwich bread, with pesto and greens and avocado. And onions. So however, while I am disappointed that I did not get the correct sandwich, I still ate the one I was given. The tuna was very tender, and that bread was very good. I'm not a huge fan of pesto to begin with, but it wasn't bad. So I'm not really disappointed with the entire experience and I probably will try it again (to get the kahila for real!), I'm very glad this happened to me and not someone who was allergic to seafood! Also I work in fort Greene, I start at 6pm, and the establishment closes at 630 pm. Due to my work obligations and the time constraints I was unable to contact the business last night.

Great sandwiches very unique experience! I love dropping in here for breakfast or lunch after dropping off my kiddo at school.

Delicious. Absolutely delicious. That's it. Not much seating, no fancy decor, but one of the most delicious and affordable sandwiches I've ever had in my life. I had the Kiki. Also, the ladies behind the counter were super nice...great customer service too.

This is a very cute artsy cafe with 2 tables and a 4 seated bar table. While waiting for my food I noticed the superhero comic on displayed, books, and photographs for sale. I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast burrito as it was filling and and flavorful. Those home fries were seasoned, best home fries I ever had. I feel like the food gives up class bodega feels.

Only thing is you will be blasted by the smell of fried food the second the door opens. No escaping it clinging to clothes and hair even if youre just in there for two minutes.

Was quite blown away by just how good this place was. The flavors and ingredients were top notch and you just can't beat the prices. Their tacos are fairly unique and each one was delicious. Will have to go back and work my way through the menu but everything I ate I would happily eat again.

Ordered a chicken sandwhich and it was SUPER mediocre. My mouth watered looking at other customers' pictures and naybe that's why my expectations were so high. The chicken had no flavor. I had to use BBQ sauce from my fridge just for me to enjoy it :/ Fries were good ofc.

HALAL chicken option in Park Slope! We ordered lunch from here for pickup on a weekday. We all got the BB Sandwich. I was excited to find out that all their chicken is halal and cooked separately from other meat. The inside of the spot is small but cozy, I think about 4-5 seats and there's some outdoor seating as well. The owner was very sweet, we had to rush to make it to a meeting so she did the best she could while being cognizant of our time. The sandwich itself was good and had a fresh component to it. Unfortunately, I was only able to eat it after said meeting so it was slightly cold (at no fault of the restaurant). You can tell it was made fresh. Overall a good sandwich. I could've used a little more chicken in the sandwich to balance out the size of the bun. However, for me, the convenience of having something halal & fresh nearby is what will keep me coming back here! After our initial visit, we ordered from here again, this time delivery. We got tacos and a quesadilla and they were both really good! The tacos are a steal! Very well priced and a good portion! Will definitely be coming back here!

Ordered the BB and some fries and it was sooo good. I almost ordered another one. The breading on the chicken is very light so even though the sandwich is packed with it, it holds together and is so moist. Everything was so fresh. Staff is also super friendly!!

Got the baddest bitch sandwich and it was PHENOMENAL. Will be coming back. Service was great too - quick and nice!

This establishment and the workers are giving me "dirty" vibes. Don't waste your time or money. I noticed specs of dirt in my order which is surprising given the area it's located. I would rather walk further for better quality and service.

What an awesome chicken sandwich spot! This place is worth the trek with limited indoor seating and outdoor seating. It's small but packs a punch. They have super interesting sandwiches and I'd love to try them all. The staff here seem super wholesome and experts in their craft. I felt very welcome here and notice that repeated locals come here daily!

The person that owns the restaurant was super nice and gave great recommendations. Everyone either dining in or picking up all said the food was great. The cafe is small but cozy. The decor is unique in its own way, and I'm sure reflects the owners style. The food was delish. I got the "burrito" which I went off of her recommendations. It was the perfect amount where I left full but not stuffed. Will definitely come back again for a lunch.

I traveled to Sandwich Girl Cafe at the suggestion of Wes and Nicky. Sandwich Girl is a tiny shop in Park Slope that is run by Antigone and Elektra. I ordered a Chick Grilla sandwich and a bottle of water. I sat outside and dined on a sunny afternoon. My sandwich was very tasty. The Chicken was very tender, and the Ciabetta bread was very fresh. The only prob is that I was overcharged. I was charged $17.42 for $16.31 worth of food and beverage. Thank U next!

I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of the Goddess Burger . I had it atleast 3 times now and it's always consistent and mouthwatering. Couple that with the strawberry Lemonade. Hit the spot!Service is always on point. Definitely my go to spot now.

Well-constructed sandwiches. The Goddess burger was very tasty w/two seasoned beef patties, caramelized onions, aioli mayo, topped with a fried egg on a wonderful pretzel bun that held up perfectly despite all of the ingredients! Can't wait to come back to try other menu offerings.

Tiny place, but the food is actually very good. The only miss was the lack of seasoning. I'm no salt fiend, but everything I had was under-seasoned. My wife thought so too. Don't be too afraid to use salt, ladies! Try your food!

By far one of the most delicious sandwiches and tacos I've ever had. I ordered the BB, the Kiki and the Princess morebucks taco. Everything tasted great.

Love mac and cheese so the sandwich was ok. Presentation is excellent. Very little chicken in the sandwich. The baklava was sort of dry. Service was good. Will try some other stuff in the future.

I just had the "BB" sandwich paired with a strawberry mint lemonade, and both were exceptional! The "BB" may be the most delicious chicken sandwich I've ever had. Plus, the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you!

Spunky and unique little place. Dishes are obviously made with care. Playful but not goofy twists on traditional sandwiches. The "Kiki" tuna salad is really nice.

My friend and I stopped in for a quick lunch on a Thursday afternoon. And we were blown away by how amazingly delicious the food was. Every bite just hit the spot. It was full of flavor and we just devoured everything. and we only the disco fries were especially delicious. I love the crunchy melted cheese on the bottom. If you have the opportunity I highly recommend that you go and check out the spot it's definitely a hidden gem.

I dined there on a Saturday evening a little before close. The owner and Diego were very nice and the food was delicious! I had the BB (Fried Chicken Sandwich), a macaroni popper and a homemade fresh mango juice. I sat down at a high-top inside and saw the owner wave at a few people as they walked by. It definitely feels like a neighborhood spot. The decor was nice as well. I will definitely be back.

One of my favorite new places. Tiny spot with really creative, innovative sandwiches. A really personal vision! The service is friendly and the food is delicious.

Tiny place but great sandwiches. Most people do takeout but my friend and I ate there. Charming fit a neighborhood lunch if you're not in a rush and just looking for an inventive and delicious sandwich.

Nice quick option in Park Slope. My friend ordered the avocado toast (2 big slices covered w pesto, sesame, salsa verde and eggs) and I tried 2 breakfast tacos. They were light yet satisfying, but could have used pickeled onion or jalepeno (some acid). Friendly service, good-sized portions. I will return to try the lunch/dinner options.

This cafe is defiantly a hidden gem in park Slope. Super nice, delicious quesadilla and stellar customer service. I'm looking forward to coming back.

J tried using their Groupon, which is valid for another 56 days and was told over the phone (when trying to place an order) that they no longer accept them. So why is their establishment still listed on Groupon's app with discounts still available for purchase?? Not a great start to get new customers for sure!

I've dined here multiple times and have always been impressed by the food and friendliness. The fried chicken sandwich and falafel are both great! It's a perfect option for a quick, tasty bite on your lunch break.

Had the pleasure of stopping in to try this spot. The ambiance was so unique an beautiful. It fits the neighborhood so well. The chef and staff was so welcoming an friendly . She definitely cooks from the soul cause the young choppa sandwich I had was amazingly great the flavor was everything a sandwich of this level should have and more . My gf had a chickgrilla sandwich an that didn't disappoint omg I tasted her sandwich an it was just as great if not better. To say u should run over there is an understatement but do stop by an try the sandwiches ,pastries ,fresh juices and support another young sister who is leaving her legacy touch an love in every bite. I will be returning soon. Ps y'all she serves breakfast all day if that's not a win win I don't know what is. Thanks for a great meal ladies

I popped in with my boyfriend last week to grab something quick for dinner and we were really impressed! I had the Kiki and he had the Young Choppa and they were both delicious and the portions were large. The cafe is very cozy and besides sandwiches, they also sell pastries and coffee-- everything looked really, really good. Can't wait to come back and try something new!

Keep coming back for chicken tacos! Very convenient that I can just grab a bite and run back to work, doesn't take much time to prep and check out, and the food is delicious! One of my favorite spot in the neighborhood now.

Me and my son walked by after his Jui jitsu class and it was great! I had the egg tacos and he had the burger. The owner is really nice and the food is great. Falafel is for the next visit for sure. This will be our after class spot. Excited they deliver!!
