"Sap's is probably the only spot in Austin where you can find pad see ew, kao soi, and crab fried rice when the craving strikes at two in the morning. The menu is massive here, and covers just about every Thai dish we can think of, but if you’re unsure where to start, we’re big fans of the noodle soups and stir-fried noodles here. At the end, make sure to order some homemade ice cream—there’s a roasted peanut flavor that you won’t find anywhere else in town." - nicolai mccrary, matthew jacobs

The menu is massive and covers just about every Thai dish we can think of, but if you’re unsure where to start, we’re big fans of the noodle soups and stir-fried noodles, especially the guay teaw kua gai that comes with pickled radish, a pile of fresh lettuce, and sweet and sour sauce to add a bit of brightness to the savory noodles. At the end, make sure to order some homemade ice cream—there’s a roasted peanut flavor that you won’t find anywhere else in town." - nicolai mccrary
"The Westgate Thai restaurant is now open until 3 a.m. nightly, which means late-night curries, noodles, and rices. The welcoming dining room has a ceiling covered in paper umbrellas and lots of tables that hold large groups. Takeout orders can be placed online or in person." - Nadia Chaudhury
"This reliable Thai spot in South Austin has nearly 20 good soups on its menu—some with noodles, others with jasmine rice, all with customizable meat, seafood, and vegetarian add-ins. We’re particularly fond of the kao soi, a rich, noodle-based Northern Thailand specialty with red curry, pickled mustard greens, and fried shallots. The spiced tofu, should you choose it, melts into the broth like butter on a frying pan." - matthew jacobs, nicolai mccrary
"When the temperature outside finally drops into pants-wearing territory, we go to Sap’s Ver Fine Thai Cuisine on West Gate Boulevard for noodle soup. We like the Kao Soi, the deeply flavorful red curry soup with egg noodles, and the Guay Teaw Tom Yum Moo, their excellent pork broth-based noodle soup. Also, when you see something on a menu called “amazing green beans,” you can’t not order it. Just trust them when they say it’s “Spicy Level 4.”" - Raphael Brion
