13 Essential Downtown Dallas Restaurants

"Sassetta reopened in the Joule Hotel in the spring of 2022, bringing a white tablecloth Italian experience back to the neighborhood. But don’t expect a rerun of the original. The staff calls it “a spiritual successor” to the original with a whole new menu with a flavor profile that extends beyond Italy and into Spain, France, Northern Africa, and the western edges of the Middle East." - Courtney E. Smith

13 Essential DFW Italian Restaurants

"This downtown gem in the Joule hotel leans towards left of center, with plates of lobster spaghetti and duck bolognese alongside ribeyes and beef short ribs, plus pizzas galore. The wine list is long and impressive, even in the by-the-glass offerings." - Courtney E. Smith

Italian Hotspot Sassetta Is Back, With a New Space and Chef - Eater Dallas

"The closure of Sassetta in 2020 left a very chic, Italian hole to fill in the Dallas food scene. Whispers of its return after the pandemic turned into an announcement that the restaurant would open up in the former Americano space inside The Joule hotel downtown, with an interior renovation envisioned by A-list designer Jean Liu." - Rachel Pinn

Where to Eat the Cheesiest Dishes in Dallas

"When the rest of the dinner party insists on ordering the burnt honey pizza, it’s important to make sure there’s still something cheesy on the table. Start things off with the whipped ricotta appetizer—the olive oil and pillowy soft ricotta ratio is spot-on, and grilled sourdough is the perfect vehicle." - Allison Castloo

Sassetta - Review - Design District - Dallas - The Infatuation

"Inside Town Hearth there are 500 chandeliers, a yellow submarine in a fish tank, and a $75,000 Ducati, which all happen to also be on our list of “things we’d own if we were billionaires.” And while you don’t have to be on a Forbes list to eat here, you should be prepared to spend some money. Get a few appetizers, like the hamachi crudo and oysters Rockefeller, and a steak to share. If you’re lucky enough to be using your corporate card, the Battle Axe, a 90-day-aged bone-in ribeye, is a good choice." - Landen Kerr

The food was excellent if I could put six stars down, I would! The service was also exceptional. The waitress was more than helpful. Had great answers to the types of food and what’s in the food and her recommendation was exquisite. The hostess at the front was also welcoming and convinced us to get food here. She exclaimed that the food was great and she was right! Looking forward to when I can come and enjoy the pasta again!! We ordered the rigatoni!!

One of the highlights of my trip to Dallas. The food was absolutely delicious, we were seated quickly without a reservation on a Friday night, the staff was exceptional, but the food was to die for. The lobster spaghetti was so good, and the tiramisu is one of the best I’ve had. Will definitely be back when I’m in town.

Google
We had the best vegetarian dinner for our anniversary! Tay was incredibly kind and provided top-notch service. We loved the pizza, pasta, and the incredible dessert—dark velvet tiramisu (a MUST-TRY!). We 100% recommend this restaurant!

Google
The Margherita pizza was burnt on the underside and the burnt taste was strong. I tried the Italian chop salad for the first time. I did not like the extremely sweet taste. I was disappointed that my waiter took away the salad without recognizing/ mentioning that I hardly touched the salad. The ambiance was nice. I recommend this location as a place for drinks with a pleasant atmosphere. However, I do not recommend this restaurant if you are a foodie looking to delight your palate.

Google
I genuinely don't know why so many people gave this place 5 stars. It's completely overpriced for exceedingly average and under seasoned food. My partner had the lobster spaghetti which was watery and the sauce tasted similar to a 5 dollar canned sauce. The spaghetti was nowhere near al dente and the "super fresh" lobster was overcooked and not good quality. I got the risotto which was under seasoned and almost bland with peas and carrots in it that you'd find better off in a Chinese takeout fried rice. And there's no salt or pepper at the table so I could try to fix it. The one cocktail I had was good at least but I found no ingredient in it that called for the 20 dollar price. Service was excellent except for her recommendation that we share plates when neither of our entree dishes were of shareable size. What an absolute waste of about 80+ dollars... The food looked good but man did it not live up to the appearance.

My wife and I had an exceptional date night at Sassetta! This was our first visit, and we were thoroughly impressed by both the food and the service. The presentation of the dishes was impeccable, and every bite was a delight. The general manager, Tony, made our evening even more special. He was very attentive, making rounds to greet guests and personally welcoming us to the restaurant. It was evident that he genuinely cares about providing a top-notch dining experience. If you're looking for a perfect spot to take your significant other or entertain guests, this is the place to be. The ambiance and atmosphere are fantastic. I highly recommend Sassetta for a memorable dining experience!

Our server, Jessica, was so amazing! Her kindness and generosity made the evening spectacular. The way the chef and bartender brought out our food, made it extra special! The host was very kind and set everything up for a wonderful night. Thank you Sassetta! Great spot!

Google
Top notch pasta … definitely recommend the rigatoni, made with a cream sauce … so GOOD paired with a nice glass of Sancerre

Yelp
I've tired a variety of dishes from their menu, and my top picks are the whipped ricotta and rigatoni. The rigatoni is creamy with just the right amount of spice--I could easily eat the entire dish! The ricotta is simply perfect; I always request extra bread. I also tried the mushroom pizza a try, and while it was tasty, it doesn't quite top my favorites from the menu. The restaurant is beautiful design and the staff are all friendly and nice. Can't wait to go back again :)

Yelp
This was pretty good for a hotel restaurant. Ambience was pretty low key, nothing too memorable or special. The service was really great. I appreciated the attentive service at the bar and the great recommendations. Their star dish is the lobster pasta so I got that and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very tasty and a bit unique. Love that they have a happy hour too!

Yelp
Came here with a friend for dinner on a Thursday evening. The restaurant is located downtown but there is valet offered (complimentary for 2 hours, $20.00 flat fee if you go over that). You'll most likely go over the 2 hours so plan to pay the fee. We did want to be seated near a window but that didn't happen but nevertheless the customer service (servers) were amazing! Our waiter described the drinks/food perfectly and we ordered various options. For appetizers, we ordered the ricotta montata, gnocco fritto, and cozze al vino bianco (mussels). For drinks, we ordered the melone martini and frozen bellini. We enjoyed these appetizers and drinks but I did have issues with my mussels. I kept biting into tiny pearls and I had to send the meal back. They did remake it but the same issue was there and I couldn't risk cracking my teeth. Outside of that issue, the broth was tasty. For the mains, we both ordered the pasta di agnello alla bolognese. The pasta was cooked perfectly but the sauce wasn't savory as I expected it to be. The aged balsamic overpowered the dish and that's really all I could taste. I definitely wouldn't order this dish again, unfortunately. For dessert, we ordered the olive oil lemon cake and créme fraiche panna cotta. The desserts made for a nice ending and I really enjoyed the panna cotta. Overall, the service was excellent but the food fell a little short on a couple of items.

Yelp
Sassetta has lots of options for Italian food, like pasta, pizza, and salads. All of the pasta was so good! I substituted the pappardelle to the lobster spaghetti and it added a smooth texture that contrasted the crunchiness of the pistachios. The red, tomato based sauce had an earthy, nutty flavor. The bolognese and cacio e pepe were also great options as well. The tiramisu was deconstructed with a chocolate mousse alongside a beautiful chocolate and coffee flower cake. It was smooth and sweet with a slight bitterness to it. The flower was edible too! The interior has a bright and modern feel to it with candle lighting to create a soft mood. The servers were super friendly and great but service was on the slower side so it's more of a leisurely dining place. Shoutout to the server who gave us complementary champagne so we could celebrate a friend's promotion! Parking is street parking only which can be hard in the heart of downtown but thankfully they offer complementary two hour valet

Yelp
I stopped in here with my friend for half price pizza after visiting the eyeboretum across the street and was pleasantly surprised. When we walked in the hostess, Danielle was beautiful and so pleasant. We were seated right away and our server was Jose. He is an amazing young man who also provided some of the best service I've experienced. Now it's one thing to have great service, but i know you want to know if the food was any good. I'm happy to inform that we started with drinks- my friend had scotch neat and was so pleased with her 16 year old scotch that she ordered a second. She had fun chatting about scotch with Jose. I don't drink much alcohol so i was happy to see they had some fun Mocktails on the drink menu (very last page). I tried the passione because im a big fan of all things passionfruit. I wish this was a bit more passionfruit forward- it was pretty heavy on the ginger. The drink was beautiful and def worth trying out. We shared the salsiccia de pollo pizza with calabrian chili oil. Its a chicken sausage pizza with fontina, mozzarella, roasted peppers, Calabrian honey and onion fritto.it was so good. Definitely get it with the chili oil. I wished we had more room so we could try more things but we'll definitely have to come back! This is apparently a newly rolled out spring menu. Love it. We decided to spring for dessert and shared the tiramisu entremet- it was soooo good! I don't even like coffee so i don't usually live tiramisu things. The entremet itself was very light coffee flavor and so silky and delicious. It was served with a coffee crumble, coffee gelato and a marsala cream. It was heavenly. Would also love to try the creme fraiche panna cotta. It sounds delightful! The ambiance of this place is lovely. I love the big window looking out into downtown. The waiters have interesting aprons with beige outfits. My friend said the aprons remind her of home depot. They are much nicer but i thought it was funny. Loved everything about this place. Several others stopped by our table and they were all delightful.

Yelp
Sassetta was on my list for a long time and I'm happy I stopped by. We initially got there for a late lunch but ended up doing an early dinner. We were seated quickly and the hostess was friendly. Sassetta is a really beautiful space and I enjoyed sitting by the window for the views of downtown. Our server was great! Super engaging and gave us great recommendations for wine pairings. I ordered the gnocchi and was pleasantly surprised, it was super tasty. Also the focaccia and olive oil was so good! For our 1st time visit everything was great! Cant wait to come back!

Yelp
We had a wonderful evening at Sassetta. The climate was cold in anticipation of the crown that didn't arrive on this Friday night. Service was impressive and outstanding. The tempura squash blossom was a delight with a bit from the spicy mayo and finished off with a small pickled onion ring. The pollo pizza had a touch of honey that complimented the chicken sausage. The Parpadelle was undercooked yet the ground lamb as impressive which was difficult to make an opinion. Overall, this was a wonderful evening with such attentive and friendly service throughout the evening.

Yelp
Used to come here all the time before they moved, back when they were in the design district. It was a nice big open space with outdoor seating even before the pandemic. Loved all the pastas and their chocolate budino. It had an upscale yet chill vibe, and it was one of my favorite places in the design district. I miss it!

Yelp
Sad to see some single star reviews for this place because of the food was amazing, and my service was great! I ordered the mussels as an appetizer and the Bolognese as my entrée. They were both delicious and came out quickly. My server and the hostess staff were also very accommodating and the pleasure of my meal. I was supposed to be a party of two, but after my friend canceled, I told them I didn't want to be a bother and sit at the bar. However, the hostesses were so sweet and gave me a table anyway with a view. My only complaint would be that the place was a little pricey. Being from Nashville, I don't mind spending money, but a three figure meal seemed quite a lot when I only had two drinks.

Yelp
The good: Easy to get a reservation, very friendly service. Excellent rigatoni and salad. The bathroom hand soap smells really good. The bad: skimpy wine pours, very over priced for what it is, small portions, long wait times. Food took over an hour to come out. They ran out of lobster for the lobster spaghetti and swapped in shrimp. No problem, but they charged the lobster price.

Jillian B.

Yelp
Our server was fantastic! The food was amazing and very fresh. We enjoyed our drinks and the ambiance of the restaurant. I highly recommend!

Yelp
This review is for January 30th. I live seven minutes down the street, and never once paid attention to this place let alone the hotel connected to it. They offered a very generous lunch special that my friend and I took advantage of. I ordered the brut Rosè along with the gem Caesar salad and burnt honey pizza (I ordered a side of pepperoni, not pictured, forgetting to ask the server to add pepperoni to it). Everything was extremely tasty. The salad was a very nice portion and made well as well as the burnt honey pizza. I will honestly say with the vibe of the restaurant as well as our server, and the food, everything deserves five stars. I'll have to return alone to try other items on their list. They certainly have a repeat customer.

Yelp
I've been meaning to write this review for a while. Sassetta is a hidden gem of all things yummy! The service is incredible from start to finish. Not too in your face but attentive enough when you need them. The waitstaff always makes the best recommendations for drinks and food. I love that their food is aesthetically pleasing and appealing while being delicious to boot. The Cin Cin is an excellent drink with a strawberry foam on top. I also recommend the tuna tartare and the catch of the day! The restaurant is inside of the Joule Hotel and is very classy yet not very busy which I like. No seat (or dish for that matter) is a bad one!

Orenthal James S.

Yelp
Hotel: awesome. Restaurant: nice atmosphere. I stay here often and 100% of the time the waitstaff seem off put by my presence. I don't know if it's a race thing at the hotel or a race thing in Dallas but everywhere you go here waitstaff act like they don't like to serve black people. It's kind of crazy to spend $700 a night staying in a hotel where people treat you like you're homeless. Dunno. I like the hotel so will stay there again but I just got another example of how weird the staff is here toward blacks. It's unpleasant.
google avatar

Anastasiya T.

Yelp
There's a lot of things to unpack here, let's start with parking they do have complimentary valet from the Joule covered for 2 hours and there's also street parking since it's located across the street from the Eye. When you walk in the hostess will take to your table, last night which was Thursday night at 6 pm the place was empty, however we did not get the window table at first I thought it might be due to waiters zoning but then a couple walked in right behind us and were seated near the window so I'm not sure how that was decided but it felt a little racial to me but let's not go there. When it comes to service it is absolutely phenomenal, very attentive and efficient, drinks were good, appetizers are bland to my taste but it's also Italian cuisine which is not famous for their spices, overall this review is mostly for food, it is not impressive I specifically ordered multiple items from a menu to give it a good judgement. They do use aged balsamic sauce as a base for pasta Bolognese and it makes it sour, which is definitely not my favorite choice of flavor. Desserts are good as well. I don't think I'll be returning.

Yelp
Sassetta was a conveniently located restaurant close to the hotel we were staying at. They were kind enough to fit in our party of 15 for a Saturday night dinner in a semi private area with only a few hour's notice. Our waiter was excellent. He was very attentive, personable and gave some great recommendations. We ordered four pizzas for our table and some appetizers to start. We had the whipped ricotta, salami plate and Tuna Tartar. The tuna was by far my favorite and the best appetizer. The pizzas were good, I preferred the Italian sausage over the pepperoni. The Burnt honey is an acquired taste. The salty cheese with the mildly sweet honey was not something I would choose again. The appetizers are mostly small plates meant for 2-3 adults, so plan accordingly. The pizzas were larger and would easily serve 3-4 adults as a meal. For dinner we had the duck Cavatelli which was good but not spectacular. The portion sizes are reasonable for a single serving size. Italian restaurant serving sizes can vary from single serve to family style, so if you are planning to share, just get your own dish. For desert we share an interesting chocolate covered tiramisu. The wines were very delicious with some unique decanters. The restaurant was modern with minimalistic decor and very clean appearance. It was nice and quiet and perfect for a date night, or a company dinner.

Yelp
I had been to the old location of Sassetta a number of times and was a big fan. After reading the mixed reviews of this location, I came into our dinner skeptical but still hoping the quality of food would present like I'd experienced before. We had a party of four and dined at 6:30pm on a Saturday. The semi-new (almost a year in) restaurant in the Joule is beautifully decorated and a classy, upscale yet trendy feel. We had no problem getting a reservation, but the restaurant did get somewhat crowded closer to 7:30/8. The first and main negative driving a loss of star is that the service is as slow as many reviews have claimed. We had two waiters, both extremely friendly, but were slow to take our orders and left water glasses empty for too long. Our dinner ended up taking just shy of 3 hours for drinks, appetizers, meals and no dessert. For food, overall still very impressed as I had hoped. We had the meatballs, Italian sausage pizza, rigatoni and gnocchi. The meatballs had good flavor, but were cold and quite small for the price. The Italian sausage pizza was fantastic, and the rigatoni ever better - highly, highly recommend these dishes. We all ordered a side of chicken with the rigatoni. The gnocchi was alright, but was also cold and not near as delicious and flavorful as the rigatoni. Overall, our experience was a 7.5 out of 10 (about 4 stars). Great food for the most part, slow service but with expectations set it will be a good experience.

Yelp
We decided to celebrate our 25th anniversary at The Joule, including dinner at Sassetta. And it was a perfect celebration! The service was fabulous! Audrey addressed our every question, and worked hard to make sure we had the perfect experience. The Filet Mignon was the winner of the night! It was so tender! It has set the standard for what I hope my meat to be! We loved the chopped salad (one was enough for both of us). And that whipped ricotta is to die for! After dinner, I had the lemon cake (fabulous) and my husband enjoyed the Tiramisu. Heidi, the manager, came by several times to make sure everything was perfect! And it was! Well done Sassetta!

Yelp
I went to Sassetta for my birthday and enjoyed the atmosphere! The waitress greeted me by name and we connected on our birthdays being close in date. The food was very well prepared and seasoned.

Yelp
I was here for dinner the service was absolutely fantastic, I had the CRISPY SQUASH BLOSSOM that were absolutely delicious, the PASTA DI AGNELLO ALLA BOLOGNESE that was very good and the SALSICCIA DI POLLO, I would definitely come back
google avatar

LaTasha L.

Yelp
A group of 10 of us went to dinner for a friend's birthday. I can honestly say the cheapest thing on the dinner menu was pizza. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and the Italian pizza. They were both delicious. We also ordered the appetizer. Italian meat balls and the meat tray. The meatballs were delicious and were served with bread to scoop the sauce up with. the meet tray came with crackers it was delicious also. A few people at the lobster spaghetti, it was lacking on the lobster. The water was a nice gesture, but is is served without ice and wasn't the most pleasant taste. The service was really good. The restaurant was very nice and accommodating. The only downside for me was the placing all of the food on one ticket. I know that the policy is they will only split it 4 times (I don't understand that) but ask us before you print the receipt to save from having to go back a second time. Overall this is rather pricey, serving sizes are ok. I wish the water came with ice. I probably will not go back with a large crowd. The location is nice. located inside a hotel.

Yelp
Decided to try this place out after checking out an event at the Eyeball. It was super convenient since it was located right across the street. The restaurant is located in the Joule. We didn't have a reservation, but we were seated immediately. Our waiter, José, was energetic and kind. I ordered a seasonal pizza that had chicken sausage, peppers, jalapeño and drizzled honey. My significant other ordered the filet mignon with whipped potatoes, broccolini, and appetizer mushrooms. For drinks, an old fashioned for him and espresso martini for me. We waited nearly 40 minutes for our food, as the look on my face expressed impatience, we were finally told that there was a mishap. The chef accidentally put pork sausage instead of chicken and it had to be remade. I wasn't happy about having to wait longer, but I appreciated the transparency and José recognizing that it was pork because I absolutely do not eat it. When the food finally arrived, everything was tasty! The manager came over twice, apologized and comped my pizza and martini. That's great customer service right there!! Some other restaurants can certainly take note. Overall, I will be back to give them another try.

Yelp
We hadn't visited this restaurant since it established its new presence in the Joule Hotel. In retrospect, it would have been better to hold on to old memories. Almost every aspect, especially the food, was a big disappointment. To name a few of the dishes, the "calamity" pizza, the "debacle" meatballs, the "tragic" tomato sauce and the "misery" sour espresso. One thing was far above average, that was the pricing for the dishes. In italiano diremmo "triste". I rate it an "avoid".

Frank R.

Yelp
Service is outstanding. The mussels were perfect with a hint of heat but not overwhelming. The wine pairing went well with our pasta dishes. I would order the spaghetti bolonaise again. Our server Tay was attentive and knew the menu and how the food was going to be prepared.
google avatar

Gracy M.

Yelp
Delicious! Came here on a Thursday night for a 9:15 pm reservation after an event on my birthday. Ambiance was very nice and easy to chat with my husband across the table. Staff was very nice and explained the menu as it was our first visit. We ordered a pepperoni pizza which was a great size for two people. We also split a pasta bowl with duck and both were full of flavor and cooked to perfection. By the time we finished dinner place was preparing to close. The hostess came over and apologized that the kitchen was closed and they would not be able to bring any dessert even though they knew it was my birthday and she apologized and walked away. I was a little put off but shortly after our waitress said that wasn't true and of course they could bring out any dessert I wanted for my birthday and they delivered. Overall, I had a wonderful dinner and dessert. I will definitely go back.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite spots downtown Dallas. Try the chopped salad. It is perfectly dressed. We also always get the pepperoni pizza. It has a perfect crust and toppings. The service is great and the atmosphere is quiet but fun.
google avatar

Hanna B.

Yelp
Mushroom salad was over seasoned and lobster spaghetti was overcooked and clumped in not edible. Food was mediocre and service was lacking. Pizza is only thing I would recommend.

Adriana J.

Yelp
They uncharged our total by $10, and charged us for refills on water without telling us.

Yelp
We have heard amazing things about this restaurant and decided to check it out. We had an 8 pm reservation but our table wasn't ready until 8:15 so we stopped by the bar to wait. Amazing cocktails and great staff. Caroline was our waitress and she was attentive and warm. She really made the meal great. We started with the fall burrata which was delicious and then had the blue cheese sweet potato. These were our favorite dishes of the night. Our last two dishes were the duck bolognese and the crab pasta. While the bolognese was tasty, it tasted more like beef than duck. The crab pasta was so lemony that it was hard to find eat. Overall, we had a nice evening with a few hiccups.

Yelp
Sad to say that the reviews on here are accurate. Had dinner here last night. Service was friendly but exceedingly slow. From receiving our first drinks (twenty minutes after being seated), to actually getting our order taken (40 minutes from being seated), to actually getting the appetizer (one hour after being seated). Two hours of valet is included with your visit, but as you can see, the two hours will likely burn fast if you're planning to have a three course meal, and then it is $20 after that. Good luck speed eating. We ordered the steak tartare which was a tiny scoop of beef served aside a massive warm flatbread (essentially the pizza crust, but griddled). The steak tartare was fine, absolutely not notable in the least. The two tables next to us both ordered the cacio di pepe bucatini dish, and both left their plates pretty intact. The dish looked incredibly dry and not flavorful. We ordered the lobster fra diavola, which was very sparing with the lobster (maybe a few chunks intermixed with the pasta). The pasta itself was nice and chewy, but the sauce was fairly tart, but otherwise fine. The value is not, at $32, since the portions here are small, and the flavors unimpressive. We also ordered the pepperoni pizza with smoked mozzarella. It was completely overcooked so that it tasted mostly like carbon and salt. All in all, an incredibly overpriced and underwhelming meal. Avoid and eat anywhere else!

Yelp
Nice brunch spot with a short menu. Everything is great but the Venito's Old Fashion is delicious! Nice ambiance and would return when back in Dallas.

Yelp
Had such a lovely experience here tonight. Our server, Brie, was so incredibly kind, attentive, and knowledgeable of the menu. She really elevated an already great experience. The restaurant is also stunning with gorgeous interiors and a fabulous ambience. The food was equally impressive and we loved everything we ordered. The caesar salad was the best I've had, and the pasta and pizza were both amazing as well. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend Sassetta to anyone!

Chastity W.

Yelp
Honest review. The drink is what got this place the stars. It's a funny I can't really remember the name, I believed the second word of the 2 part name is Tutto. Strong, creamy, and sweet. Very delicious. Our server was nice, she explained the menu but her descriptions didn't match the food in my opinion. I ordered the lobster spaghetti and boy did it taste like some basic spaghetti. The sauce tasted like something from the grocery store, poorly plated like I was going to sit in front the tv on a tv stand tray. The few cubed pieces of lobster were bland. Overall basic dish. Not worth the price at all. The lasagna my friend ordered, she did not like, small square drowned in sauce. She ended up sending it back. Know you will be there longer then 90 mins so if you used valet expect to pay $20. The service isn't fast so it's really not complimentary. Overall, I won't be back unless my job brings us and foots the bill.

Yelp
The old sassetta was one of my favorite restaurants. When they closed, I was super bummed. I was very excited to see it would be in my favorite hotel, the joule. It is a very pretty spot for sure. Their wine selection and glasses are just sexy. The staff we met were all very nice, however, our service wasn't great. Our server came by only a few times to take our order and then to ask if we wanted the bill. At no time did she fill our waters, fill our wine glasses, bus dishes/ silverware or check on us. I guess it's the old fashioned part of me that wants someone to fill the wine glass. It's appropriate for a restaurant that's supposed to be of this caliber. And if we ask the server if there is a sommelier, I'd prefer not to hear that they can give us recommendations unless they actually do really know the wine list. The beef tartare was very disappointing. There was less than a small palmful of actual meat, with a super large piece of bread. It didn't make sense. It also needed an acid. The meatball appetizer was good. The pizza also was OK. The star of the show was the ricotta agnolloti. Now the pasta did not come out hot. It was lukewarm. Lucky for them, the flavor was so amazing that the temperature is forgiven. That was a darn good pasta. I drive very far to go to dinner. I likely won't be back unless I'm staying at the joule. I honestly was a bit bummed by the experience.

Yelp
It was okay. Drinks and Cesar salad were fire. Our service Jessica was absolutely fantastic. Location a little loud due to outside area. Valet kept speaking about a $20 fee after 2 hours. So that was a major issue for me...My thing was like "Dude ok I heard you" But all in all it was ok.

Yelp
I'm torn on the rating . The service was outstanding and the food was ok. Our friend made the reservation for the wrong day, but the restaurant was still able to accommodate us. Our waiter Pierce was friendly, knew the menu and was patient with our inquisitive friends. They had a beretta salad which was amazing!!! Order 2 it's so good. We also had Gigante Beans, these were cooked al denote with little flavor except from the relish it was coated in. Highly recommend the Cauliflower Salad. Full of flavor and texture. The ice berg was simple but tasty. The Pork Coppa Steak was interesting, I'd eat it again. It's not what you expect. Chicken Milanese looked like 2 Chic Fila breast's coated in Sriracha sauce and had similar flavors. Tagliatelle Bolognese looked and tasted like hamburger helper. Crab ravioli had a weird flavor , we sent it back but we're still charged for it (was later removed) Lobster FRA Diavolo replaced the crab ravioli and was delicious!!! We had several drinks, expect slow bar service.

Yelp
Valet is only free for two hours, then they charge you $20. We were 10 minutes late on a Tuesday night and they still charged all 4 people in our party. Food was good. Service a tiny bit slow. I would recommend. I think pricing was reasonable and the room on the Main Street was a good vibe to see the pedestrians. Without valet issue it would have been 4 starts.

Yelp
The only reason I'm giving this place a 2-star rating is because of the way the manager handled a customer-service related situation. We were a large party of 11, and one of the individuals had to leave early for a personal emergency. Before the plates had come out, she asked to cancel the order and hurriedly left, thinking it was all taken care of. However, the waitress still brought out the plate while we were all in the middle of eating, and mentioned that the food had already been made and couldn't be taken back, and they still needed to charge for it. Since I had planned the entire event (it was a birthday dinner for a friend), I took on the responsibility of figuring this out, so everyone else could enjoy their night. This was now MY food, and I'M the one who had to pay for it- which was understandable. But, I tried the plate (it was the crab linguini), and it tasted awful. The pasta was far too sour from the citrus, the chili flakes were tacky and too strong, and the crab was rancid. Overall, I wasn't happy with this plate, and I definitely didn't want to pay $36 for it. I brought the waitress back and explained that I understood the extra plate would be charged to me, but now it was an issue of not liking the food itself and wanting to possibly swap it out for something else. You would think, any restaurant that wants to keep its customers satisfied and comfortable would gladly offer this- it wasn't food I was okay with eating. Instead, the manager came out and bluntly placed the food back on the table, said there was nothing that could be done. "The plate was already made and it needed to be paid for". Not only was her tone upsetting and extremely unaccommodating, but it was a horrible way to handle what could've been an opportunity for kindness and top-tier customer service. The way I see it, it was a bad plate of food; It doesn't matter if it was a cancelled order from someone else or not. It wouldn't have been an issue paying for it if the food was good. Overall, this ruined our night and we won't be recommending this place to anyone. I would, however, like to point out that before this situation, the waitress and hostess were really kind and accommodating, especially for such a stressful amount of people at once. The ambiance of the restaurant is very aesthetic and a solid dinner spot for a nice atmosphere. They even used the candles I bought for the dessert we chose for the birthday. Just wish they would've met basic customer service needs and expectations, so I could recommend it to others.

Yelp
What an amazing experience!. I had lunch with my boss. I arrived early and asked for a drink to be named after her. They were so accommodating and welcoming. The salad I ordered was very fresh! Highly recommended

Yelp
Recently moved to Dallas from New York City and found this gem of a restaurant downtown. Great ambience, great staff, and wonderful food. Had the meatball appetizer and the short rib both of which were excellent. Relaxing dinner, not rushed, and just a great overall experience. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
This place is ridiculous - they enforce 20% gratuity for a to go order. The manager then make thing up saying this is for package fee????

Yelp
I didn't know what to expect coming here (I picked a random restaurant that was located downtown), and I ended up enjoying it immensely. I made reservations in advance, and we were seated upon arrival. The location is cool in general as it's inside the Joule. And the atmosphere inside the restaurant, I really loved. It was beautiful. Our server was attentive and friendly. The drinks we had were strong and packed a punch. I ordered a pizza, and I thought it was good, but I'm curious about the rest of their menu offerings. Overall, had a great experience.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our dinner this past Valentine's Day at Sasseta. The food was surprisingly really good for a hotel restaurant but the service was a tad slow. Waited almost 45 minutes after my salad was picked up for my main entree to be served.

Yelp
The worst 3 hour meal I've had in a long time. The food was terrible, service slow- 3 hours and then valet charges $20

Yelp
We started off with their meatball appetizer. We really enjoyed it and thought the meatball with the whipped ricotta and sourdough was such a great combination. The pizza was very disappointing. The bottom of it was soggy and the smell each time we took a bite was off putting (it was a weird burnt smell, not like a yummy brick oven pizza smell). The Lobster Fra Diavolo dish was okay. I don't have much to say about it. The ambience was 10/10. The restaurant is very pretty and romantic. I loved where we sat because we got views of the inside and outside. Our waitress was nice and attentive. The manager was going around the tables to check in with everyone, which I thought was nice. We utilized their complimentary valet. In short: the food was "meh", inside of the restaurant is really pretty and staff is nice.

Yelp
For the fans of the old Sassetta that used to be in the design district, look no further than this review for confirmation that Sassetta is back baby. Everything on the menu is not only as good as it was before but I would argue better. For starters the drinks have been overhauled, don't get me wrong the previous Sassetta had amazing cocktails but this new one's are even better the - Sassetta in Rosa is a must have. The meatball appetizer was what we ordered and it turned out great. Highly recommend the bolognese and the lobster diavolo. But we all know what you're looking for. Let's talk burnt honey pizza. I can thankfully say it is back on the menu and almost exactly like the original. We had some contention at our table some believed it was exactly like the old Sassetta and others believed it was tweaked a bit and tasted a little different, regardless we all agreed it was a must have so don't miss out next time you visit!

Yelp
Perfect evening! 11 of us and not one complaint. First off, our server Melinda was profoundly a part of why this evening was so enjoyable for our group. Melinda was very knowledgeable about the food, proficient and able to keep up with our gregarious group with her wit. The ambience was perfect for our 50th birthday celebration. A long table by the large window overlooking the bustling street on a Saturday evening in downtown Dallas was the perfect way to people watch and our loudness as a group felt tucked away from those having a quiet, romantic dinner deeper inside the restaurant. To start: the selection of specialty drinks were less on the sweet side and more leaning towards spices and flowers. Ok, the food. WOW! We were given some delicious appetizer recommendations for the table to share. Although the plate was small, the flavor of each tomato braised meatballs with whipped ricotta well made up for its lack of size. The Burnt Honey pizza was fabulous but this could also be considered more of a dessert pizza bc of its sweetness. Although, we had no problem devouring the 2 that we ordered before our meals. Not necessarily something I'd want as my meal, but don't miss it as a sharable! The Caesar salad was so fresh and made with a butter (or bib) lettuce, not your typical romaine. The taste of the dressing was spot on. Just enough peppery bite. The smell alone is noteworthy. Now on to the entree's. My lobster spaghetti was probably the best meal I've tasted in a very long time. The same sentiment was heard by all 6 of us who ordered it at our table. The pasta was cooked to perfection. The small bites of lobster were the perfect texture (not gummy). The sauce was light and delicious. The piece de resistance was a sprinkling of pistachios on top, giving it a hint of a nutty flavor with an occasional crunch. Conversations I heard across the table about our food selections...the lasagna (which had a very nice heavy red sauce) was 'the most tasty lasagna she has ever had. Perfect amount of kale'. The Rigatoni had a 'spicy kick but deliciously plain.' Fish was 'fabulous' and the steak was 'tender'. The steak does not come with any sides. The restaurant was out of a few items (table bread and only 2 ribeyes left) but Melinda and the chef made sure that we had something of a sliced garlic bread to enjoy. I think it's pretty obvious that I would highly recommend Sassetta and it will become a top choice on our favorites list. Noteworthy: parking is valet-first 2 hours complimentary-$20 flat rate after that. Drop off car in front of the Joule (Main St). Pick up in the back (Commerce St). Inside the beautiful, narrow Joule lobby, you are just steps away from the speakeasy Midnight Rambler, also a quaint lobby bar and a very good restaurant called CBD Provisions.
