The 12 Best Restaurants in Gainesville, Florida | Eater Miami

"Reaching its 20th year in business, Satchel’s Pizza is a hippie’s paradise locals flock to for more than just the food. Its loud mosaic-tile paintings and stained-glass windows are a unique addition to founder Satchel Raye, who designed much of the pieces in his backyard, including a booth made out of his bright-blue 1965 Ford Falcon van after driving it for a decade. The restaurant is known for its over 30 pizza toppings, including four types of tempeh for vegans, and its deep-dish pie, the “Satch-Pan Pizza,” for $35. Guests can order individual slices for $4 or $6.50 for four toppings. Guests can expect live music and entertainment, a personal gift shop, and a children’s playground. The restaurant’s popularity led to Raye opening a sister location, Satch Squared, in 2021, specializing in Detroit-style pizza and waffles."

Was pouring rain during this visit, but it didn't slow down satchels from serving up some delicious pizza in no time. I completely inhaled slice after slice and then went on to explore the cool things and scenery made from junk. The staff here are excellent, friendly and make sure your pizza needs are met. Be sure to explore the property and see all the cool art scattered throughout. 🍕 Will return to eat more pizza when I visit Gainesville again.

Satchels opened in 2003, I believe. It is next to the Repurpose Project and Reuse Renovators, and an obvious fan and partner in creative reuse for its decor. I was wowed by the creative reuse of junk into funky fun decor and a relaxed happy vibe. Our server Rocky is a joy, top notch, very friendly, and an asset to Satchels. My Mamma's Pizza single slice was hugely huge, a great value, perfectly crisp and tasty crust. Quirky dining alcoves are tucked all around the outside of the building and indoor dining is also available. Free off street parking is available. Cash and major credit cards are accepted. Satchels makes its own soft drinks (how about that?). The topping list for pizza was about 20 and very varied. I will be back.

More Than Just Pizza - This pizzeria is a hidden gem—part restaurant, part art gallery, part plant shop, part playground. With a very unique twist and personality. This place has so much to offer, you can stay here and enjoy the pizza and salads and then spend time just admiring all the decor. The menu is creative and delicious, the pizza its 5 stars, all types of toppings. The space is filled with local art, making every visit feel like an experience, not just a meal. A perfect spot to eat, wander, and get inspired.

Google
All-in-all a unique and fun experience at this pizza parlor with a wild flare of fun, artistic antiques, paintings, tile, and paintings. Each menu looks as if it were handcrafted just like their homemade pop! We chose to try the root beer which had the sweetness, yet interesting tartness to it as well. Dinner for 6 was 1 salad (VERY good) with 2 pizzas and 1 calzone: green pepper & onion, sausage, and mozzarella, ricotta, garlic. The crumbled sausage was very tasty with a kick to it. The green pepper and onion pizza we chose was very simple but hearty in its own way. The calzone was packed with cheese and 1 piece alone was enough to satisfy my lactose intolerance! The crust can be described as a chewier dough but with a crunch. The sauce was good; however, I felt it could use a bit more seasoning. Overall this place was great and we had a significant amount of food left over! And the dessert menu was wild and fun 😁! Completely recommend!

This place is just so different. You have to make sure you go through each building to really get the whole vibe. There's also a wonderful little playground around one side, outdoors. Plants galore surround this place and some are for sale. The pizza slices are gigantic !!! The entire atmosphere is incredible.

Google
One of the coolest restaurants we’ve ever visited. Zero complaints and all praise here! My daughter thought sitting in an old van to eat (and being able to “drive” it) was the coolest thing ever! We got the soda flight which was yummy and we were so impressed that it was made on site. Our daughter, again thought this was so cool. It’s not the norm to have a flight appropriate for kids. The pizza and calzone we ordered were delicious and very fresh - actually cannot wait to eat my leftovers. We also got a big bad cookie and bon bons (which, by the way, was featured on a view master! So fun!). My only regret is that we didn’t order more bon bons for later! The atmosphere was so cool. We stayed for a while after we finished eating just to play and explore. The staff was so friendly and helpful as well. I kept telling my husband that it was so clear to me that so much love was put into this place. I doubt we will ever be able to come back and visit, but we will tell everyone we know who is visiting to add it to their must stop list. Thanks for a great experience!

Google
Fun atmosphere and great pizza! What else could I ask for? Very cool place. They have a table service side and more of a shot and listen to music, order at the counter side. The pizza was delicious. You could taste all of the ingredients and you can tell they use quality. Such a yummy sauce. I'm already salivating thinking about my next visit. I think it's a great place for kids. Big family and friends tables on the counter service side. They have live music too. This is a must visit if you're coming to gainesville. Parking can be persnickety so be patient but if you've been to gainesville before it won't shock you.

You will not be bored at this quaint and quirky pizzeria/museum/galleria/greenhouse. The salad was excellent with the house salad dressing, the gluten free crust was perfectly crunchy along with the yummy pizza fixings. Be sure you have time to walk around toward the back of the restaurant to see the owners creative mind.

Yelp
Great pizza. Just great pizza. Nice atmosphere too - one of the most unique pizza atmospheres that is as good as the pizza.

Yelp
Title: A Nostalgic Journey with Satchels: A 70s Oasis of Charm Step into Satchels, and you'll find yourself transported to a bygone era, where the vibe of the 70s is alive and well. As someone who adores aesthetics, Satchels instantly captured my heart with its charming retro ambiance. From the moment you walk in, you're enveloped in a warm, nostalgic embrace. The decor is a delightful blend of funky patterns, vintage furniture, and quirky knick-knacks that evoke a sense of whimsy and nostalgia. Every corner is a treasure trove of retro delights, making you feel like you've stumbled into a time capsule from the groovy 70s. But it's not just the ambiance that steals the show at Satchels; it's the incredible food and drinks that truly elevate the experience. Let's start with the pizza! It's not an exaggeration to say that Satchels serves up some of the most delicious slices I've ever had the pleasure of devouring. Each bite is a symphony of flavors, with the perfect balance of gooey cheese, tangy sauce, and crisp crust that leaves you craving more. And let's not forget about their homemade soda flight - a refreshing journey through an array of unique and flavorful fizzy concoctions that perfectly complement the meal. It's a fun and inventive twist on the traditional beverage options, adding an extra layer of charm to the dining experience. One of the highlights of Satchels is the option to dine in a vintage van parked right outside the restaurant. It's a quirky touch that adds to the overall retro vibe and provides a cozy, intimate dining space unlike any other. Whether you're enjoying your meal inside the restaurant or in the charming confines of the van, you're guaranteed a memorable experience. But the delights of Satchels don't end with the food and ambiance - they extend to the eclectic store housed within the restaurant. Filled with vintage toys, trinkets, and treasures, it's a wonderland for nostalgia enthusiasts and curious souls alike. And if that wasn't enough, there's even a greenhouse tucked away in the back, adding a touch of greenery to the retro oasis.

Yelp
I most often go to Satchels for lunch on Fridays with my coworkers and I really appreciate their lunch special (one slice and a small salad). It's cheap and the pizza slice is huge. Also, if you decide to get toppings, they are generous-- prepare yourself, lol. The pizza dough is incredible and the sauce is flavorful (if a little on the zesty side). If you like to dip your pizza in ranch, try getting the "Tammy ranch"-- you won't regret it. We usually go to the back and do the counter order. The same person is always working when we come on Fridays and they are always super attentive and sweet. If you've never been to Satchels, the entire building and interior is filled with quirky upcycled art. There's always something to look at!

Yelp
Hot take: their pizza isn't great. Sure the vibes at Satchels are cool, everybody seems to be loving the vibes. Just because a building is cool doesn't mean the pizza is good! If you want a good saucy pizza, go anywhere else. If you want a sauceless, cheese heavy pizza go straight to Satchels. When Satchels used to own Satchels squared, I was quite shocked. Satchels squared was a saucy wonderful pizza, the perfect pan pizza one could say. The waiting staff is wonderful, no shade to them. I do have beef with some of the workers but that's personal beef!! Don't worry about it, because they are willing to squash the beef to provide some decent pizza. Overall: cool tables good pizza. The three stars are for the waiters sake, they don't deserve less than that and if I could separately rate the experience I'd say the waiters are 5/5 stars. Really hoping Satch pays and treats them well...

Yelp
Local pizza spot is well known within the Gainesville community and the surrounding area. The decore of the entire restaurant and bar are full of license plates , paintings for starters then there are the outside tables inside a van and then there is a plane also. Their pizza is amazing , and it can get quite busy here, and their salads !! Wow!! A small salad fed both of us several times. They have their own craft sodas as well. My wife tried the root beer and loved it. We wish we had saved room for dessert. Next time!! Definitely put it on your list of places to try when you're in the Gainesville area.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to go to when visiting Gainesville! The whole place is made of recycled items / super cool decor hanging from everywhere (mobiles, plant holders, art and more). It's funky and fun! The pan pizza is a personal favorite and I had to get it again this visit. We started with their homemade sodas - root beer and lemon lime. Then we got the satchel salad to share. And then we ordered the pan pizza with ricotta, onion, pepperoni and tempeh sausage. The pan pizza takes a while so the salad helped fend off our hunger but the wait is soooo worth it. The pizza has super crispy edges and the toppings didn't make the pizza soggy! A perfect bite every time. You have to try it!

Yelp
Does Satchel's have really good pizza? Yes. You would be hard-pressed to find anyone who would disagree with that. Although, it's not my favorite pizza in Gainesville, not by a long shot. As great as it tastes, it's over priced: paying $2.50 per topping for the pizza is a little outrageous. I got the medium sized Mama, which comes with four toppings and is enough for two people (or one if you're really hungry). What you really come to Satchel's for is the setting: the wild and eccentric art and designs all over the walls, the intentionally mismatched plates, the back yard with metal structures that is a cross between new wave art pieces and scrapyard dumpster pile. Make sure to check out their bar and store located next to the restaurant for all the little knickknacks and Satchel's merchandise. If you have yet to go, I would suggest you get the Satchel's experience pronto.

Yelp
While visiting University of Florida, had to stop and get pizza at a local pizza joint Satchel's Pizza. Pretty cool story how the owner started this restaurant. Pretty cool interior and exterior. We started with salad- pretty big for 4 people. We ordered a pizza and calzone. Both were pretty good and tasted good- nothing extraordinary. Make sure that you make room for dessert- we had carrot cake and cannoli. Service was pretty quick even though the place is pretty busy.

Yelp
This place is eclectic and hectic and I'm here for it :) I first got introduced to this place during a tour at UF, and now it's a must stop every time we're driving through Gainesville. Somehow this place just keeps growing and growing every year, with everything there it'll seem the same and different every time you visit. On top of all that the pizza is amazing, definitely make this a stop when you're in gator country ;)

Yelp
I'm in LOVE!! Our son brought us here a few weeks ago and we fell in love. The pizza is Fantastic!! We had some in-house made balsamic dressing to dip our crust in and almost fought over it !! The establishment is so super cool and has a great vibe. The staff are all laid back and lovely. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
My brother went to UF years ago but told me we HAD to go to Satchels when visiting Gville. This place did not disappoint! Cool vibes, amazing service, and the food was delicious. The guys both got the lunch special w a slice and salad. I had the small salad. It was huge and I ate it later that night for dinner. I could literally eat that salad everyday...EVERYDAY! I also need to mention that they make their own sodas. We all really enjoyed those, too. The decor is cute and eccentric. 10/10 would drive from Tampa to Gainesville to visit here again.

Yelp
Ok I love this place! Their vibe is quirky and fun! The food is so delicious! They make their own soda and you can get a flight if you want to try them all. The pizza was yummy. Our waitress was great and very friendly. I will be coming back.

Yelp
I recently ordered delivery from this place on a Friday night with my roommates, enticed by its reputation as the best pizza in Florida. We opted for a large pepperoni and hot honey pizza, a medium pizza with banana peppers, Spanish, onions, and green peppers, and a large salad. The portions were generous for our group of 6, and surprisingly, the delivery arrived in about an hour. The delivery service was commendable, offering a live route tracking feature and confirming our address with a friendly phone call after a minor mistake. However, the food, while satisfying, didn't stand out. The salad, in particular, was a highlight and worth recommending for both takeout and dine-in. While the crust of the pizza was nice and fluffy, I would recommend asking for some marinara sauce or something to dip it in since it lacks flavor on its own. Having dined in before, I believe the charm of this place lies in the unique experience it offers. The eclectic decor, including seating in a greenhouse, airplane, and bus, adds a distinctive touch. The dessert menu presented on an old-school picture slideshow toy is a delightful detail. The restaurant also features a quirky store with oddities at the front. While the food may not be exceptional for delivery, I'd recommend dining in to fully appreciate the fun and distinctive features of this restaurant.

Yelp
Super cool pizza and salad restaurant in Gainesville! Very eclectic and artsy. The kids enjoyed the soda flights- I wish more restaurants would do this for the kids. I love unique places and this place is definitely out of the ordinary with the decor and neat places to sit. The service was very good and the jalapeño pizza was really good. I prefer super thin crust pizza but their crust is delicious.
google avatar

Alyssa M.

Yelp
Satchel's pizza has the cutest atmosphere ever and the most delicious pizza I've had in Gainesville!! The crust is so perfect and I love all the topping options they have. Their side salad is also to die for, highly recommend getting the lunch special if you come!! The parking is usually a pain especially when it's busy, but that's the only downside. The service is usually pretty good and they're very quick to bring out food. It's a super cute vibe and I recommend checking out the little store next door as well. My favorite topping combo on my pizza is the "sausage" tempeh and hot honey, sooo scrumptious!

Yelp
A must to visit in Gainesville. The food is always great. The small salad is filled with veggies and apples. We decided to add feta for this visit. The salad feeds 2-4 people. You can add any toppings you like to the cheese slices. They are huge slices and I was expecting them to be a bit smaller. My kid enjoyed the calzone and had some leftovers. Service is great, the waitresses and waiters take a team approach. There is a lot of really cool and unique touches throughout the restaurant and the exterior.

Yelp
Ambiance is quirky fun, but most of all their pizza is amazing. Just the right amount of everything . Highly recommend

Yelp
Loved every bit of our experience at Satchel's. Super eclectic ambiance with something interesting to see at every corner, literally. The decor is eye catching. There's a gift shop and stage for performances. Highly recommend and plan to revisit. A lunch visit so we grabbed the lunch special which is salad and a slice. Just about everything is fresh and homemade even the soda, had the ginger ale super refreshing ginger kick. The salad was dreamy filled with toppings which you can alter if any allergies. Nice NY styled slice that you can add the toppings of your choice. I had bacon and pineapple. And vanilla cannoli to top it off. DELICIOUS! Everything tasted soo good! Friendly, warm, and attentive service. My littles ones joyfully explored the play area. Definitely a play at your own risk as the sign read.

Yelp
Best pizza I've had in years. I love the Sicilian style and the eclectic vibe. I never miss a chance to stop by Satchels! Call ahead if you want the Satch Pan!

Yelp
Place was great and quirky. we luckily got there before the rush. Pizza was great. place is great for families. I drive for ocala to here for pizza. some of the best I hav had in Gainesville

Yelp
Even before you get your food you know you are in for a good time just by the atmosphere here. From outdoor seating in a converted VW bus to their stained glass patio, thi place just oozes personality. We stopped in for lunch and got their lunch combo (a salad and a slice of pizza). The pizza was good but the salad was outstanding with a perfect mix of sweet, tangy, and savory. The amount of food was amazing for the price. We finished up with the cannoli and their apple crumble cheesecake for dessert. Both were delicious. Everything hit the spot and left us full and ready to tackle the rest of the day... right after a quick nap.

Ally A.

Yelp
I wish I had taken a photo of the calzone we ordered - omg it was so good! We started with the salad which was delicious. This was my first time here and it was just so cool. I loved the little gift shop and even got a fortune from the fortune teller machine.
google avatar

Yelp
We always have to stop here when we are in Gainesville. The pizza is awesome and the salads are the best ever!!!! We always eat in the bar area out back. This way service is much quicker and you don't have to wait for a table. In the evenings they usually have a live band. The place is decorated with all the things from your past. They have toys from years ago. They have outside seating too. It's far from fancy but look at the pictures I posted and you will get a feel for the atmosphere. If it's a game weekend be prepared to wait. Go Gators!!!

Yelp
Heard great things about this place to enjoy a slice of pizza. They do offer a lunch deal that comes with a slice of pizza and their famous salad. I went to the bar/to go order side of the restaurant. I did order a slice of pepperoni pizza and did get their salad. I enjoyed their pizza it was thin, crispy, and the right temperature. Their salad was refreshing and good. I would come back again. It was a decent deal. The lady at the bar was a little stand off ish. I had to asked her for a soda cup since I did purchase a soda, but she forgot and asked me if I wanted to purchase a soda.

Yelp
I don't understand this super high rating people keep leaving. I am visiting from out of state and have heard about how great satchels is from multiple people. Sure, the building is unique and there was live music. Sure, there is quite the kids play area. But that's about it. The pizza was not great. I blotted a napkin full of grease off of my slice of pizza. The drinks were gross, I had a fountain drink and just poured it out and had water. I got a salad which was good but the box was so full it was difficult to mix the salad. It was so loud and so crowded inside. There were wild kids running all around unsupervised. The best seating is outside practically in the parking lot, which is also extremely crowded. It's like a grown up chuck e cheese with some alcohol and neat decorations.

Yelp
OMG Satchel's. In a world of minimalism and farmhouse chic, Satchel's is an exercise in brilliant maximalism and I am here for it. I found this pizza place online, while looking for a restaurant near UF. We have some dietary restrictions in my house, and this checked a lot of boxes. I wanted to sit outside in the fun garden/patio, but it was still a little warm, so we opted for the dining room. Satchel's makes all their own soft drinks, so I asked for their version of a diet cola. The server asked me if had tried it before, and if she could bring me a sample first. I'm glad she did. It was good, but I preferred an unsweet tea as the flavor was just a bit too strong in comparison. We went back and forth on the menu until I advised my husband to order a pizza customized to his needs and we could take the rest home. He went for a pesto base with feta and some veggies. I wanted to try their regular pizza, so I ordered a slice of cheese with their house salad to split. Honestly, next time, I wouldn't share. It was delicious with all sorts of "stuff" and a yummy vinaigrette. That being said, the small did easily serve the both of us with some extra, so great value. Service was great. Vibe was immaculate. Small menu, but the pizza was thin and crisp with just the right amount of sauce and toppings. We would visit again if in the area.

Yelp
This has to be some of the best pizza I've ever had. I love the vegan/vegetarian options. The soda flight was fun! The pizza took a while to come out but it was a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. We had a 25 min wait to be seated which was fine. I enjoyed looking at all the decor. Very cool place.

Yelp
AMAZING pizza place here in Gainesville. such awesome vibes. best calzone i've EVER had in my life. and the most amazing staff here as well. you must get the calzone and satch salad. but you honestly can't go wrong with anything!

Yelp
What a fun spot! I've been here twice and still feel like I'm missing things that I should look at! Upon entry, you see the van parked in the front yard, and as you pass it - the doors are open and people are sitting inside eating pizza. It's super cool! But, that means your eyes are up and not looking down at the entry sidewalk - it's paved in Pennie's and occasional keys - another fun find! We had the Satch salad and added feta and ham. Food was delivered promptly and three of us split the salad with some leftover. It's huge and their dressing isn't overwhelming - the perfect amount. If you love it like me, you can buy it afterwards. This time we ordered a deep dish with mushrooms, artichokes and extra cheese - I love me some cheesy za! It was heavenly - and again, the three of us split it and had 3 slices leftover! Two were so full after 1 piece that they split the other. I'm not saying who ate two whole pieces...Leslie. ;-D If you are here, the visit isn't complete without going to the back bldg and seeing all the fun things they sell. I bought 5-6 Christmas gifts and it's months away! There is also a full bar back there with live music - and even further back is a plant shopping area! Be sure to look up in the trees at the fun things hanging and an unbelievable fountain in the parking lot made up of recycled things that just brings a smile to your face! Obviously, I have had nothing but wonderful experiences and food here, so don't miss out!!
google avatar

Mary Lou N.

Yelp
First time here. Fun, kitschy location. Live music on a Sunday evening. Delicious pizza and toppings. 4 of us split a large with half and half all fresh toppings, and still took one slice home. We loved the crispy, yet not hard crust. All the people working there are so nice. It's a must visit location if you're in the area. Oh, and the shareable salad is everything!! If you fill up fast, it's worth having a little less delicious pizza to have room for salad.

Yelp
My husband and I were in town for the Kentucky/Florida football game and found Satchel's on Yelp. It was a fantastic experience. The entire property is incredibly eclectic and visually interesting. Our server was so kind and recommended the lunch special which is a slice of pizza and side salad, and both were perfect and filling. I'm sad to live so far away because I would definitely come back!

Yelp
I was down in Gainesville for an appointment at Shands. My niece met me there for the appointment. She lived in the area 10 years before and suggested we go to Satchel's Pizza for a late lunch. Her memory was spot on - even after 10 years!!! It was a little cold for us to eat in the converted van so we grabbed a table inside. The service was wonderful, the pizza tasty and the homemade Ginger Ale - aaw-licious! Although we didn't partake of the desserts they looked yummy and the way they have for you to browse the dessert menu was unique!!! Hopefully it won't be 10 years before we get to return!

Yelp
Doing a weekend getaway in Gainesville and heard a lot of hype and great reviews of Satchels. I saw various pictures of the atmosphere and it looked fun, so I waited to try it out myself as well. It was about a ten minute drive from my hotel near the university, and when I arrived, the main parking area was full. Luckily, there was another parking area with spaces, so I parked over there. When I arrived, I was quoted a 20 minute wait, which I didn't mind since I can explore the area. Saw the store, the playground, bar, and entertainment area, then came back to the waiting area 10 minutes later. They had a seat for me so I didn't have to wait too long. I was seated inside the main restaurant, which didn't have a live singer, but it still has a nice vibe without being too loud. For my drink, I went with the secret menu that had grape soda (that my hotel suggested to try... It was 3 dollars). It was homemade with real cane sugar. The grape flavor wasn't too intense and it wasn't too sweet either. My server recommended two slices, so I did both slices with meatballs, ham, bacon, and anchovies (6.50 each slice). It came at a reasonable time, and was a bit bigger than I expected. The toppings were generous, but I found the anchovies a bit salty and meatballs lacking flavor. The sauce of the pizza tasted basic, but nothing bad. The bacon and ham were fine. Even though the pizza wasn't extraordinary, it was still decent, especially for the price paid. The server packed the other slice for me to take back to my hotel. I also ordered a chocolate chip cookie togo, and for 2.50, it was a great size and tasty as well. Just the right amount of chips too. The service was friendly and did a great job packing my food to go. They followed up quite a bit, making sure I enjoyed the food and atmosphere. A generous amount of napkins were provided when I asked for them. However, it seems the hype is from the funky and fun atmosphere. The indoor portion has various artwork, which some you can buy. There is another area that has a toy store and bar, as well as live music. The outdoors area is more fun, with a Volkswagen van you can eat inside, a playground area with various equipment, an airplane that you can explore, and even hammocks to relax in. There is plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, and it is pretty entertaining no matter where you sit. Once you are done eating, you pay at the counter. Previously, it used to be cash only, but now they do take credit cards as well as Google and Apple pay. I am glad I tried to place out. While the pizza was nothing special, it was still decent enough to enjoy the fun atmosphere. The prices are reasonable and the service was great. This is definitely a place to take the kids as they can have fun in the playground and climb in the van or airplane. The adults can enjoy the great vibe too as well as live entertainment when available. Parking and waiting can sometimes be a bit difficult, so best to go in the less busy season and weekdays. But it is definitely worth visiting at least once for the great vibe and decent pizza.

Yelp
Absolute gainesville staple. The interior ambiance is like no other i've ever seen. My table was a bunch of old samsung phones casted in resin/epoxy and was super cute. They even had an outdoor van you could sit and eat in. Their menu has a huge variety of pizza, calzones, drinks, and even house-made cola! I got the calzone based on simone's recommendation and it's the best i've had anywhere. It had ricotta and mozzarella inside and the thing was stuffed to the brim with cheese. It was a huge portion too that fed two people. I also got a slice of pizza which was great too, especially when loaded with parmesan cheese from the shaker. I absolutely recommend satchels and am glad I got to experience the hype that everyone talks about!

Yelp
Okay let me preface by saying that I'm from Chicago so it's VERYYYY hard to impress me when it comes to pizza!!! SATCHELLS IS PHENOMENAL, to say the least!! I'm a UF alumni and I've eaten satchells all of college yet somehow it says better and better every time I have it!! We went on an off season Thursday for lunch and got a medium pepperoni pizza and a medium pan pizza with onions, green pepper, and jalapeños! The pan pizza is absolutely amazing with the caramelized crust!!! We got this pizza well done and omgggg IT WAS PERFECTION! The sauce, the bread, the toppings were just so so flavorful together! The jalapeños could've been more spicy, but that's just my preference haha. The pepperoni pizza was not pan but still was crispy enough yet soft enough! The vibe is always amazing, the staff is always friendly, and now they take credit cards instead of just cash!!! So even more reason to go!! LOVE SATCHELLS SO MUCH!! 1000000/10!!!

Yelp
I do not get the hype around Satchel's. Very basic pizza, the reviews on here sound to me like everybody goes to Satchel's for the decor. If you actually want pizza, go somewhere else. Not to mention that the menu is very basic with only one salad, pizzas, and calzones. Nothing. Else.

Yelp
It's a interesting place to visit. Lots of recycled art pieces that is unique and nice. Lots pictures opt to do. The souvenir shop was good too. The food was a simple pizza and salad. The drinks sample definitely try. The story behind it is inspiring and nice. The price is okay. We enjoyed our visit. ...

Yelp
Disclaimer: Parking can be very tight, extra parking can be found in the western Adjacent lot. Atmosphere is amazing, very artistically unique (especially the tile mosaic theme). Their signature Satch Salad was refreshing, and their pizzas were well-cooked with fresh ingredients. I had a table of 6, no complaints from any of them. The only issue is that they're closed Sundays and mondays, which meant I couldn't go again during my trip! Overall recommend.

Yelp
SUPER long wait here but the pizza was good, although I really wish they had already decided specialty pizzas to choose from. We got a white pizza that was very tasty - the ricotta was fresh! Parking was a bit of a hassle but we ended up parking in a lot across the street. There was plenty of outside seating so we ordered a pizza for take out and sat at the picnic tables out back by the cool plane. The whole restaurant is very eclectic and fun.

Yelp
Ordered pizza with extra cheese. Don't know what kind of cheese it was but it was Not mozzarella cheese. It had no taste and no stretch like real mozzarella. Sausage on the pizza also had no flavor. Very disappointing. Will not eat there again

Yelp
Easy solid four ...or five for this super fun bohemian college town arty/creative pizza joint. It's fun just to be here and they're not necessarily expensive. Not a whole lot of places will sell you a slice anymore. Our pizza had the most beautiful crust and was delicious, especially that sauce, whoa! Sell me a jar of that! People seem to go back and forth on the Satchel salad. It's a tossed chopped salad with a wonderful symphony of ingredients I particularly enjoyed but for whatever reason, the wonderful art of having a salad come tossed in its dressing might be lost these days. lol. Delicious. Parking was a beeatch, round and round the outside, until we learned you can park next door but as luck would have it, we found a spot! Ciao!!

Yelp
Funky little pizza place in Gainesville. Tasty artisan thin plus a chicagosh thick. You can also choose by the slice. I tried the pepperoni meatball and it was very good. Great sauce. Awesome vibe and great staff.

Yelp
This was my first time at Satchel's and I was blown away by the decor!! The atmosphere is so neat, there's a van eating area, a plane, a connected Satchel's shop, and live music! The environment is perfect for a date or for a group of your friends to visit. The pizza was delicious, I ordered a Mama's slice (4 toppings of your choice) and then a cheese slice with 2 extra toppings (50c each). The size of each were pretty big, I'd say 1/5 of a large pizza pie. I always heard about the infamous Satchel's salad, and it earned it's reputation!! The sodas are homemade, and I recommend the lemon lime one. However, you can't go wrong with the homemade lemonade either. Will definitely be coming back!!

Yelp
One of my favorite places to go while I'm back in Gainesville. I introduced my girlfriend to this pizza joint, she's from Brooklyn, and she fell in love. The atmosphere is that good old Gainesville hipster vibe we love. They've extended a lot and really added to their location. Service is quick, even though the area is rather large. I highly recommend going there to eat or taking a box or 3 home. Check out the salad dressing they sell in the back!

Yelp
This was my first time here and it was delicious! I definitely recommend. The staff and the food was great. My brother and I enjoyed a medium size pepperoni pizza. The decor inside and outside of the place was also amazing. I have so many pictures from visiting this place. You should definitely try this places

Yelp
40 plus years ago, Leonardo's pizza changed my expectations of a slice. All these years later, Satchel's raises them. The deep dish Satcha-a-pan is magnificent with its buttery edgy crush and its soft pillowy interior lathered in an herby tomato sauce, topped with fresh veggies and cheese. A single slice can fill you up and yet you MUST have a second slice which tastes every bit as good as the first. Satchels also serves a wickedly good salad with apples, almond slivers, sunflower seeds and very fresh greens doused in a dressing so good, I watched a woman buy four bottles of it. And then there is the experience of satchels. From VW vans turned into hideaway tables...to a store filled with toys you once loved...to a bar area with live music...to a totally cool and unexpected playground for children...to a plane mounted so you can sit inside it with a glass of wine...to art everywhere. Even Satchels is a work of art. We loved every minute and every bite. Take cash because credit cards don't work in this hippy-feeling place. Bring patience if you go on a weekend. Just do go. Go.

Yelp
Pizza was delicious. Definitely worth a visit while we were in town. The dough was so good and the crust was perfect. We enjoyed sitting outside in the nice weather. We also ordered a flight of soda to try. My favorite was the ginger ale. Also loved the story sheet that came with the flight! Service was fast and friendly. We went next door to the little shop afterwards and looked around. Also took a peek in the garden area. Really enjoyed our experience here and will return next time we are in Gainesville.

Yelp
Let's just start this off with the fact that I haven't had pizza this good in a very long time. It's a very artistic establishment with beautiful walls, corners and floors throughout. The employees were friendly and the bathrooms were clean. The slices are huge so you'll have your fill with one slice if you go that route. Affordable and lovely. I definitely recommend. They also have a covered garden in back that resembles a greenhouse almost! Being a huge art lover, I was in heaven. So glad I got to explore this spot.
