A brick‑oven classic since 1994 with thin‑crust pies, pastas, and salads. Beloved by families for consistency and its signature torta di mele, it’s a Northeast Heights standby with deep local roots.

Brought the family so we could try something new.. not a good choice. Our server was great and polite.. she is definitely underpaid for having to work there. The place was so hot and uncomfortable. Just waiting for our food, I had finished three glasses of water, that’s how hot it was inside.. The food was very good, but couldn’t enjoy it because of how hot it was in the building. If you decide to stop in and eat here, wear shorts and a T-shirt and bring a small fan. For the price, go somewhere else, like where they actually have air-conditioning. This might be a good place to eat during the winter.

Google
Scarpa’s has been around for a long time. When you have food and service that is consistently good, people will continue to support them. The main reason I go is for their dessert though! I would recommend eating only half of your large portioned dinner and take the rest home so that you’ll have space for their torta di mele! It is DELICIOUS!

We came twice in quick succession, the first time for dinner and we got two pasta dishes. They were very good but there was barely any shrimp in one of them. The second time we came for an early lunch. The host did not greet us and seated us without a single word. The restaurant filled up VERY quickly for lunchtime and there were only two servers for the entire restaurant. Our server did his best to be quick and efficient but at one point he had 10 tables to take care of at the same time. He said it is always this way at lunch time which I find sort of silly. The tables are also piled so close to each other that it is a struggle to even walk between them. Set-up and service could be better!

Pizza Margarita was good, has garlic so if you are not a fan maybe ask before to take it out. Strong flavor. recomendado

I hadn’t been back to Scarpas in over a decade but am glad I decided to try to go again! I forgot how good their pasta was but their pizza was also delicious! They had vegan cheese available for their pizza too!

Google
8/5/25 - love the pizza at this restaurant. The staff is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is great and the dining area is clean. The food comes out relatively quickly and it is always great. They easily cater to my vegan ways. Even without cheese or other animal products, the pizza is absolutely delicious. Parking can be a little tricky during busy hours

We arrived for a late lunch and were seated very quickly. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and was very clean. Our server arrived and got our drinks ordered quickly. We didn't have to wait long for our drinks and to place our order. We ordered 2 kids pizzas (1 cheese and 1 pepperoni), a BLT pizza and a Pizza Primavera. The wait time was very minimal and everything came out fresh to order. Every bite was delicious and we had plenty left over to save for later. Excellent service and food!!

Google
Had take out, been quite awhile since I’ve eaten here. I got the pepperoni and garlic pizza, very disappointed. I was expecting fresh garlic but it came with a ton of garlic powder/salt. Not the same guys. The minestrone had no flavor and seemed undercooked, as I believe what looked like barley was firm. Salad was very nice. It’ll probably be awhile before I go back.

Yelp
I went to Scarpa's for lunch with coworkers today and had a delicious wild mushroom pizza with pancetta. The crust was crispy and chewy, topped with truffle oil, fontina cheese, a good amount of mushrooms, and the right amount of pancetta. My coworkers' pastas looked great, and the salads I saw on other tables were big and filled with tasty-looking toppings. I might get a salad on my next visit.

Yelp
With 12 friends, we spent a Monday lunch enjoying pasta dishes and pizza that was wood-fired. Their salads are commendable. It was under $400 for 13 at our table.

Yelp
We were looking for some Italian food and wanted to give this place a try. The service and atmosphere were great but the food was just ok. I had the chicken carbonara and the garlic cheese bread . I also thought it was weird they didn't have chicken parm or lasagna.

Yelp
On our last visit here my wife and I shared a half Al Arancia salad. We both had Red Chile Cream Pasta. Her with shrimp and me with chicken. My son had a pepperoni pizza It was all fantastic. Our server was excellent. Always a pleasant visit when we co.e here.

Yelp
We had an overall pleasant experience at Scarpas, we have lived in Albuquerque all of our lives and had never stopped in to try it. The inside of the establishment is like walking into a small Italian town. The decor and ambiance is welcoming and authentic. Okay, so about the food. My wife and I shared the red chili sauce pasta which was very tasty and unique, a hint of Italy, a hint of New Mexico. We also shared a salad and pizza, both of which were surprisingly delicious, I'm a huge fan of bold and distinctive flavors, so this was right up my alley! Service was great, the waiter explained the common favorites, and made suggestions for us. We will be back some time in the near future!

Yelp
Love this quaint little Italian spot on the Eastside. Was pleasantly shocked at the overall feeling and ambiance when I stepped thru the door! I was warmly greeted and I felt like I was teleported to Tuscany! Moving onto the food... Superb! I'm all about a lunch special and for $10, I got a mini pizza and a salad! Husband got a pepperoni and garlic pie, both prepared fresh in the brick oven and cousin got a salad w/bacon, blue cheese and hot pecan's. We topped our lunch off with the one and only dessert served and it was INCREDIBLE! Can't wait to go back for more! Minus one star because they really need better parking. The lot is TINY!

Yelp
Hands down to this wonderful little restaurant! Its she classy and it surpass my expectations! Started with with the slad and the complimentary bread that is buttered and with some pesto/basil in it. Then the pizza was oven cooked and each person in my party got what they wanted and they rated each plate 10/10 for fullness, quality and flavor! The server was a hardworking gentleman and he was very kind to give us suggestions and was very knowledgeable. Overall a very romantic place to go with your loved ones! Definitely worth each cent I spent at this place. Non-alcoholic drinks are limited but plenty of alcohol drinks to choose from!

Yelp
I can't have too much tomatoes due to health issues, so I was so excited to try Scarpas. They have so many kinds of pizzas! I got the wild mushroom pizza with pancetta bacon. I just love simple olive oil based pizza. I love the drizzle of truffle oil as well. The service was nice. It had a warm homey vibe in the restaurant. I'd love to have that pizza again!

Yelp
We came here during the Balloon Fiesta for my mother in law's birthday dinner. I told the host as we were seated that it was her birthday and she said we'd get a free birthday dessert and to tell the waiter it's her birthday. Some dishes were good and some weren't great. The pasta with red chile cream sauce was excellent but the caeasar salad pizza lacked flavor and sauce. It literally tasted like cheese, lettuce and tomato was put on the pizza and heated. Would not recommend it. We ordered the only dessert on the menu which was good but when we received our bill the server told us the dessert wasn't free even though the host told us so. It wasn't a big deal but I would've appreciated if they comped us the dessert seeing that it was someone's birthday and they had mistakenly told us the wrong information. Wouldn't come back here

Yelp
Had a great meal, ordered the Caesar pizza, a pasta and the house salad, all were very good, and the Torta Di Mele dessert is one of my absolute favorites, it's out of this world. The prices are very reasonable and the service was great. So glad we decided to stop in on our visit to Abq!

Yelp
We had another great meal at Scarpas last night. It had been a while scone we had been there for a meal. I had been craving some noodles so we went before the crowds started. We got some cheesy bread to start and as always it came out hot and fresh. I ordered the pasta aragosta and my husband got the red Chile pasta. Mine was super creamy and delicious. My husband who always orders this dish was a little disappointed. His dish tasted ok, but was not the same creamy and spicy dish as it always was. We chalked it up to it being a different cook making it a different way. Either way the food great and the service was amazing as always.

Yelp
Had the Green Chile fettuccine chicken Alfredo, was so good, it wasn't too spicy. The ambiance was nice, but gets packed quick! The portions sizes are definitely worth the price.

Yelp
Scarpa's used to be one of my favorite brick oven restaurants here in Albuquerque. Yesterday, when i went in I was pretty offended by service. I went in and waiter instantly made me feel rushed. "Well, we got to put in your order, the kitchen closes in 6 minutes" Um ok. Granted i already knew what i wanted. Thought I was gonna have a nice comfortable dinner but if the waiter could have told me hurry up, he probably would have. The same waiter also turned down three separate people. I know this because they sat me directly across from entrance of the door. Just thought maybe the restaurant could have been more accommodating to people that roll up a little late or maybe extend hours?

Yelp
We came in on a Saturday afternoon before the evening rush. We were greeted and seated promptly. It was that but busy. The half house salad is pretty big, but it was just a basic salad. The garlic cheese bread wasn't bad and the marinara for dipping paired well. I did wish it to be a bit thicker, but that's just a personal preference, but it did taste good. My girlfriend had the green chile alfredo and she enjoyed it. I had a taste and you can taste the green chile in the sauce. I had the carbonara and I really liked it. Portion size was on point, but a little too much sauce for my liking, but would order again. I would come back to see the pizza offerings based on what I saw others ordered.

Yelp
Always dependable good food great food, wonderful service, clean and attentive. It's always been a good time and good food.

Yelp
Good food but not the fastest service. We did get bread with our salad, which was good and tasted fresh. I ordered a half salad for me to share with my bf, which was delicious. We also shared a pizza before we went to the movies, which was perfect for us not to have any leftovers. Due to the slow service, we had to rush out and ask our waitress if we could pay. Later, I looked at my receipt and realized she had charged us for two half salads. It was too late to fix the charge since I gave her my card first before looking at the receipt. I'm not sure if it was a typo or if we ordered two half salads that came out on one plate? She could have just charged us for a full salad, and it would have been cheaper. Well lessons learned make sure to look at the receipt before paying.

Yelp
Crowded parking lot because some of the best food in town. I love the pasta with the artichoke hearts, capers, sun dried tomatoes, and mushrooms. Starting off today with their wonderful minestrone soup. You cannot go wrong with anything on their menu.

Yelp
This was the first time my husband and I came to Scarpas. We were greeted and seated promptly. It was a little wait for our server to approach us but in all fairness there were only two servers and it appeared many entrees were coming out at the same time, no big deal. Our waiter came to our table and was very friendly, and cheerful. We ordered a bottle of wine and our Entrees which we both enjoyed. The ambience was great and overall a fantastic experience. We will definitely be going back in the near future and be putting this in our rotation of favorite restaurants.

Yelp
Terrific time today celebrating with my nephew! It was supposed to be his birthday, but that was in May. We had a great lunch, excellent quick service, nice table, good food. I had the chicken Alfredo since Lee recommended we get Italian instead of my usual salad! I was not disappointed! He had some pasta dish also, sorry, I can't remember. But everything within our 45 minute time frame! Thank you Scarpas. (Sorry I put my other review meant for you at Scalos by accident last time!)

Eric G.

Yelp
We got here and got seated within a few minutes, we sat down and got waited by a really nice and fast waitress. The inside of the restaurant is really nice and I liked the old woody feel of the Inside. When we got our food it was incredible, I got pasta and it was incredible.

Yelp
Great gluten free pizzas! I want to try every one but I have my faves! The staff is always very nice and quick.

Yelp
THANK GOODNESS this Restaurant on Academy survived the Covid Shutdowns!!! It's been my comfortable "go-to" for Yummy Italian for years. Everything I've had has been DELICIOUS! Great salads, delicious thin crust pizza, and fabulous pasta dishes. All servings are large enough for two. Try the Pasta Carbonara because it's AMAZING! And the Half size salads are still huge. The staff has always been very friendly and willing to accommodate the customers. Very casual environment with a Tuscan design touch and I LOVE THE SMELL of the WOOD used to cook the Pizza!! Beer and wine only.

Native A.

Yelp
The food was absolutely wonderful but the service was....not. I am an indigenous person and there were 4 other tables around us. Various arrivals and departures...k? Three were NON-indigenous....with very fair skin and were not only catered to, but served first. what is this? Are we back in the 60's? I'm a big tipper....I worked in the service industry for years and know the importance of tips. This young man who served us...has potential to excel in this industry. I am a 25% MINIMUM just for service, tipper and it was so probably mother only crime I tipped 15%....if only for the food. Do better guys...some of us dress in sweats and hoodies.

Yelp
Food was great and quick! Great place to have a bite with friends. Very friendly staff. Definitely a place I'll come back!!

Yelp
We were visiting Albuquerque from Texas and found Scarpas. Me and hubby ordered a half side salad to share and the Pesto Shrimp Scampi. Delish!! We ordered buttered bread for the table. Our kids had a pepperoni pizza and both loved their pizza. If you are in the area stop by and if we are ever back in Albuquerque we will be visiting again!

Melissa A.

Yelp
We ordered the Red Chile Cream Pasta and the Pasta Veneto. Both were terrible! The Red Chile Pasta was drowning in oil, the chicken was like leather, and the flavor was disgusting. The Pasta Vento was also terrible. On top of the horrible flavors, the employee at the register attempted to keep one of our gift cards that clearly still had a balance remaining. This was our first and will be our last visit to Scarpas. Update: We tossed the pasta in our kitchen garbage. It's stinking up our house, so we had to take it outside. Yuck!

Yelp
Great food. The spicy salad was excellent! Friendly staff! I will definitely go back.

Yelp
This is a confusing menu, but unique for sure. New Mexico and Italy in one dish. Seems like an odd combo, but green chili can be added to just about anything and be delicious. Seemed like a popular mid week lunch spot. The wait staff was friendly and the brick oven pizza hit the spot.

Yelp
I took myself out for lunch at Scarpas recently because I saw an article on the 26 best pizza restaurants in Albuquerque, and Scarpas was on the list. I also had a coupon that I wanted to take advantage of. This was my first visit. The restaurant is not huge, so it's quaint with a rustic Italian vibe - including the music. My wait staff person approached and offered me a table at a comfortable distance from other diners. I asked for water and perused the wine list. I ordered a margarita pizza, a small minestrone soup, and a glass of wine. The minestrone was hot on arrival and came with a buttered piece of bread which I thought was a nice touch. The soup was wonderful - not too salty, and was definitely homemade. The pizza was DELICIOUS. The crust was VERY THIN which I love. I ate 2 of the 6 slices and had the rest boxed to take home. The wine list is ok - a lot of reds from Napa if that appeals, and the whites were a bit more exotic. I was able to get a glass from New Zealand and was happy with the selection. Prices are far and the food delicious. My only constructive bit of feedback is that the window plantation shutters need a good cleaning. While the restaurant is overall clean, the windows are not, the shutters are not, and the floors needed more attention - bits of paper and dust bunnies were under foot.

Yelp
Got the $18 shrimp scampi.... and it certainly was skimpy. Only 4 very small shrimp on the plate. When I asked if I could have more shrimp, the server said no very rudely and that the kitchen was closed. She was very snippy and unprofessional. $18 for basically a bowl of penne. I will not be going back ever again.

Yelp
After living in Albuquerque for 3 years, I finally had dinner at Scarpas. Now I am sorry I waited so long to go there. The pasta I ordered was amazing. And I tasted my husband's entree and it was even better than mine. So needless to say I highly recommend Scarpas. I can't imagine any dish being less than excellent coming thru that kitchen door.

Melissa D.

Yelp
We LOVE scarpas . We've been patrons for 15+ years, and get takeout weekly! I can't live without the chicken Cesar pizza !! Support this local business

Ang O.

Yelp
Food was fine but all the chairs were filthy. They were going around wiping the tables but not the chairs our servers cloths were also very dirty. It was a turn off.
google avatar

Yelp
Since their other location closed we have had to come down to their first location. The food is just as good, just hate how far we have to go to get there. We love the pizza the Greek and usually add kalamata olives and get the Spinachi Salad! The house desert is also a fav. So good!! We have had great services, quick and friendly each time we have gone! We also love their point system and have earned $20 off cards when we fill the stamp card!! Pretty sweet! Overall recommend for veggie not great if you are vegan.. they have a few pasta options you can get without cheese.

Yelp
I was introduced to Scarpa's by a friend over 15 years ago and liked the food very much, but since I retired (and live in Rio Rancho), I didn't have much occasion to be in that neighborhood so had not been there for several years. Then recently another friend asked me about it, so we had lunch and I was reminded of how good the food was then and wondered if it had changed. Nope!! Not at all. If anything, it has gotten better. Hubby and I decided to have dinner there last night--it was Hubby's first visit and he left impressed and sated. We arrived there about 5:40 and were able to be seated immediately. The server took our drink orders and allowed us a few minutes to scan the menu--I had already made my choice but Hubby was vacillating--he finally chose, and he had no reason to regret it. I ordered the Pasta Aragosta - garlic shrimp and linguini in a lobster cream sauce. I first ate this dish nearly 20 years ago and loved it then, and I still love it. There is nothing to say about it except that it is DELICIOSO!!! Hubby had the Pasta Carbonara and the only reason he didn't finish it was that he was too full! He loved it and as we left, he said that we'll have to come back. The cheese garlic bread is a terrific accompaniment to the pasta dishes, but it is pretty pricey ($7.00) for 8 small pieces of bread. We did order it, but that won't be a regular thing. The house bread and butter is sufficient. We'll be back!! Scarpa's has now been added to our rotating list of Friday-night dinner spots.
google avatar

Beverly R.

Yelp
We were seated immediately and enjoyed a dinner that did not disappoint along with a fabulous dessert! Definitely a must the Torta Di Mele desert is large enough to share but if you want to I believe you can eat it all by yourself. Unfortunately I shared it with three others.

Yelp
We've been going to this location after they had closed down the Montgomery location, never had an issue til May 29th. My kids & I wanted to celebrate my birthday so I decided Scarpas. Upon arrival, the restaurant was a full house, so they told us a 30 minute wait for more than party of 6 and it was 3 adults with 2 older kids with a toddler, which was fine but what irritated me was how the reservations get priority when their party was legit 30-45 late, so unfair when the restaurant could accommodate those who were there and we had complained this to the restaurant manger, whom we did not get his name. Waitress named Jesse, took our drink order, cool she was nice at that time until I noticed the party next to us literally got their food almost an hour later... so I took it upon myself to pay for the drinks only when we could had took our business elsewhere and that's when Jesse's attitude totally changed when I had asked to pay for the drinks only. She had said give her 5 minutes and she'll do that, 10 minutes past and she comes back saying she couldn't "modify" the drinks because the manager was busy and at this time, at this time they begin bringing out orders when we clearly just want to pay for our drinks. We did not touch the food, right away we wanted to get outta there because of how the restaurant manager was running the place, no leadership and he wasn't taking the role of a busy restaurant. I had told Jesse we just wanted to pay for the drinks, but instead brought the food out! At the point, I was infuriated with how this business was run.. so we got up and began leaving. The restaurant manager ran after us and told us we couldn't leave without paying for our meals and threatened to call the authorities when obviously we did not commit any crime. My husband and I told the restaurant manager, how we had asked Jesse we wanted to pay for drinks only and he was forcing us to pay for the food as well when we didn't touch it at all! But we ended up paying for the whole ticket & took the food to-go! I'm surprised oh now the restaurant manager ran this establishment, being that he also mentioned he has been there for 20 years allegedly when we never seen him, no sincere apology or going to every table and letting them know about any updates on how their orders are doing ahead of time and/or attentive friendly staff!! I am not the one who does bad experiences, but in hopes no one will experience on how this restaurant manager handled everything. We had asked to get the general manager's name or someone who is in charge, and he gave us a "Joe" with the number 505-821-1821 when the store's number is 505-821-1885. So I'm sure it was a made-up name and the number was a different line to the store!

Yelp
Food, service is amazing! There wine list complements their food very nicely. Their Pesto Pasta with Shrimp Scampi is me go to.

Yelp
Half salad served on small plate, stacked and falling all over onto table. I had chix pasta dish, but served with spaghetti NOT the linguine as on menu. Bread slice very small with butter (cold). Ingredients were served cold in this dish. Very disappointed! I would personally not go back. I was invited as a giest

Yelp
My favorite place in the whole wide world!!! My go to always. Love the staff! Warm and very family friendly. Best salads and pizza in the city!!!

Yelp
Tonight I went with friends to Scarpas . I live in neighborhood so have been going there almost 30 years. After dining there tonight I tried to send feedback to them but their website does not list any email contact., I do not want to share feedback to all, but I don't know any other business that will not let you contact them via email/web/internet. Info@. Bounces.. My table left feedback with wait staff/ but she did not ask us for our contact info for reply.. nor accommodation..

Yelp
Always love Scarpas. Soups, salads and surprisingly their shrimp is some of the best in town. Solid pizza, solid pasta. Asparagus soup is my favorite and I like the garlic butter on the bread. Good prices too.

Michael C.

Yelp
Scarpas has THE BEST salads in Albuquerque. I also love their pizzas and pastas. They get really busy so get there at as close to 11:00 as you can for lunch. They have wonderful quick friendly service and a good wine selection.
