"Open for: DinnerPrice range: $$Chef-owner Peter Reuter launched separate pasta and pizza concepts in the Van Aken District food hall a few years back, then used the success as a launch pad for this permanent restaurant, a neighborhood pizza and pasta joint that punches well above its weight. Reuter prides himself on making meals from scratch, from naturally fermented pizza dough to house-made pasta. Orecchiette is tossed with crisp-tender broccoli rabe, Kalamata olives, and chunks of zesty sausage, and capped with breadcrumbs and grated cheese, while the mortadella pizza blends mozzarella, lemon zest, pickled shallots, dollops of pesto, and crisp-edged slices of mortadella. If pizza and pasta aren’t your thing, the chef bolsters the menu with a few Italian mains such as chicken parm and braised short ribs with polenta. Best for: The attractive bistro is casual enough for a family pizza party, but sleek enough for a date-night dinner." - Douglas Trattner

Google
Great service and good for a nice sit-down dinner with friends. Accommodating for a kiddo on the patio. The food is incredible - we got the duck, gnocchi, and pizza. All delicious. The kind of Italian spot with a rotating menu, where you want to try different stuff every time. I think I’d want to get a pizza for the table every time, though. Napoleon style crust, we got the sausage pizza and artichoke pizza. Cocktails were great, too.

Amazing food and drink. The service was great. Our server was so nice and attentive. The atmosphere was great. We had spring mushrooms pizza and tagliatelle.. the food was delicious. Highly recommended and I will come back.

Scorpacciata Pasta Co Is a true hidden gem we recently discovered in Larchmere. After building a loyal following at the Van Aken Market District, this cozy spot opened its own doors last year—and it’s been serving up fresh, inventive Italian fare ever since. The name Scorpacciata translates to “a big feast,” evoking images of generous platters shared among friends and family. True to its name, the restaurant focuses on abundance—with a commitment to scratch-made dishes that are never frozen and always seasonal. Their guiding mantra, “Abundantly locally sourced and in season,” is reflected in every plate, with ingredients sourced from local farms. Some standout dishes we tried: 🍝Orecchiette – Tossed with Kalamata olives, sausage, and broccoli rabe 🍕Kale Pizza – An off-menu delight with white sauce 🥗Burrata – Creamy burrata cheese, prosciutto, strawberry preserves, and candied nuts over a bed of arugula 🍛Arancini – Crispy breaded rice balls served with marinara 🧁Cannoli – Classic vanilla filling with chocolate chips Drinks not to miss: 🍹Negroni 🍊Spiced No-Loma 🍷Wine selection 🍋Limoncello – Made in-house using a cherished family recipe Extras to keep on your radar: 🎉Happy Hour: -Tue–Thurs: 5–7 PM -Sundays: 4–7 PM 🎉Special Events: Wine tasting nights and “Tour of Italy” dinners 🎉Ever-changing seasonal menu Whether you’re craving a casual night out or planning a special evening, Scorpacciata delivers with heart, flavor, and an atmosphere that makes you feel like famiglia.

The drinks is good, it’s sweet and smooth I forgot the name, ‘something no 2’. Wanted to try the Caesar salad but was told by our server that they’re out of it. Maybe because we came too early because when we’re about to finish our meal, another customer next to us can order the Caesar salad. Mushroom pizza is really good as well as tagliatelli. Orecchiette is too dry and salty to my liking, added the meatballs in it but the whole thing is just too dry. Tiramisu was disappointing.

Google
We were craving takeout Italian and so gave Scorpacciata’s new storefront a try. In general the food was top quality, albeit pricey (especially considering the small portion sizes). The Caesar salad was merely okay - I don’t know what a caper gremolata is, other than it contributed nothing to what should be a simple and straightforward classic. The pizzas, however, were outstanding. It was all about their thin and super chewy crust, which was blistered to perfection. The pizzas were delicately (some might say meagerly) sprinkled with a measured amount of cheese and fresh toppings. Although, for better or worse, everything we ate had a strong taste of fresh lemon juice. I do regret not dining in, since the atmosphere seemed chill and welcoming. But the pizza was good enough that I would certainly consider returning to sample the pasta dishes.

Google
Really exquisite place. Glad to have finally made it in. Had the duck confit for fun. Really nice, kinda quirky flavors.

Google
So delicious! It took us so long to try this restaurant, and we truly have been missing out. The patio had a great atmosphere, and the pasta was the best we have had in Cleveland. Arguably, the gluten-free pasta was the top 3 I've had outside of Italy.

Dan OHara

Google
Had the Tagliatelle & a couple of the Italian beers. Entree was very good & plentiful. Itslian bottled Beer was tasty, but they were out of cold glasses - drank from bottle. Would like to have had a small side salad available, as well a roll or bread for sopping Lead over the heat Settle up the sauce, but no such luck - disappointed. All good otherwise. 60

Yelp
Updating for the new Larchmere location. Service was quick and friendly. Ordered the meatballs, Caesar salad, penne pasta and orecchiette. Would come back to order the orecchiette again and try the pizzas. Hoping they mix up their pasta menu and bring back some of the options they had at Van Aken. FYI Not young kid friendly -- no high chair or booster seat options nor a dedicated menu, but there's simple pastas and pizzas.

Yelp
I came here with my family to Scorpacciata's brick and mortar and had a lovely time! We have been fans since their van Aken days, so we were pumped to try out their restaurant! The servers were accommodating and nice. The ambiance was more modern Italian American restaurant with a cozy vibe! We enjoyed all the food we ordered and had leftovers we enjoyed the next day!

Lauri J.

Yelp
Ambiance is nice and it's a cute space- female greeter was professional and polite. We were sat at a high top table by the bar tight in the corner and tiny bugs from the herbs that hung in the wall swarmed our table attracted by my wine. Service with a young man name started with "j" started out fine but we were never checked on and had a hard time getting our server back for the check. He took our order and we never saw him again. I would have liked another glass of wine and salt and pepper. It was very busy and we were ready to leave . I ordered the chicken with spinach sweet potato risotto with goat cheese and I was not a fan of the flavors. It did not work for me. My friend liked his meal. Would not return for the poor service.

Ashley B.

Yelp
Good food, ok service. The pizza, mac n cheese, polenta fries, chicken parm, and cannoli were solid. The linguine was over seasoned, over salty, and greasy. Services was just Ok. Fun atmosphere, relatively noisy which was a plus for our family with kids.

Jason L.

Yelp
Came here for the first time and grabbed a tall table at the bar at 745 on a Saturday night. The place was jammed but thinned out over the course of the night. We split a delicious bottle of gruner, the burrata salad, seasonal butternut squash gnocchi, and a really tasty pizza. I was so full but we did manage to split a cannoli as well. A good spot for good pizza and pasta.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this new restaurant on Larchmere. Unfortunately the food is just not that good. Italian food is a blend of subtle seasonings. The few times I've been there my choices are so highly seasoned it is worse than Olive Garden and that is pretty bad. A little bit of herbs/seasoning goes a long way. I've been to Italy more than 20 times and the version of Italian food here is not real Italian. I think it is what Americans think Italian food is supposed to taste like. The renovation of the old Larchmere Tavern is fantastic. Beautiful ambience. I really want this restaurant to make it. Please, please rethink your recipes!

Amani I.

Yelp
Over rates and over hyped place. Terrible service . We have been waiting for more than an hour for our food, not to mention the time to be seated although there was an empty table

Aiden L.

Yelp
The food was very good and very tasty. The service was very nice but slow and the salsa came out first and I ordered two appetizers. The ambiance is like a modern restaurant and a comic book a the wall.

Adam M.

Yelp
Fantastic! The new location is gorgeous and much-needed in the area. From the decor to the music to the staff and obviously the food, this place is top notch. Can't wait to go back.

Amanda L.

Yelp
Usually I like this place, but not over the holidays! Came to get two pies over x-mas break to-go. They were only selling by the slice. $5 for cheese and $6 for pepperoni slices. $7 for special (kale). I asked if they could make me a fresh pizza and pay by the pan. They declined. Although they had the dough and ingredients right in front of me, I ordered slices to make a full pie as I had 4 kids starving at the rock gym across the street waiting to eat. I asked if the pizza was from that day, as it didn't really look fresh/ what I usually see when I order their pizza. The service lady said, "yes it was from that day." After paying $68 (cause I had to pay by sliced for 2 pizzas) and eating it with my kids across the street at the gym, I realized I made a huge mistake spending money on it. It was cold and old pizza. Not worth the money at all. Total waist. We didn't even finish the pizza because it was wax like. Horrible price for an old product. They should let you order a full pizza and pay for the pan if they have it regardless if it's the holidays. I hope they don't carry this service over to their Larchmere restaurant. In the past, myself and family love this place but this was a total rip off this time. I like trying to support local business and the VAD but this was disappointing.

Rich S.

Yelp
At the Larchmere Porchfest, Jul 29 2024, they were selling several varieties of their pizza for $5 by-the-slice. We had regular and meat, both delicious with fresh light-tasting crust. We cant wait to stop by for other varieties and for the pastas and other Italian specialties!

Rita G.

Yelp
We waited too long to order. Once we got someone's attention, the service was fine. I used to love the pizza at their former place at Van Aiken. So, we thought we would try other dishes at their new place on Larchmere. The meatball appetizer was tasty but needed to be hotter (temperature-wise). The pasta dishes were meh. If we come back, I will stick to ordering pizza.

Steven L.

Yelp
Was very excited to try the new location. We were greeted by with a very good greeting from the hostess. She was very pleasant and professional. We did not wait long for our server which was nice but that was the last of the good service. Our server "J" took our drink and appetizers order, then walked away. Then after a brief absence returned and took our dinner order. We ordered a pizza, gnocchi, and two ordered salads as dinners (4 people). Then the dinner salads came out before the appetizer. We made mention of it and we got an excuse after excuse. We mentioned they ordered the salad when he asked for dinner orders. Should not have come out then and got more excuses. It took forever for appetizers to show up. Then dinner showed up and the server had to be asked several times to clear the dirty plates. We asked for a few items and he never brought them. At one point I went in to get my own straw. The gnocchi was delicious, the pizza was mediocre at best. The salads were just okay. The new look of the inside and the new patio were the only pluses. We will not be returning to this new place. Server was poor and food okay but not for the cost.

Sean L.

Yelp
Drove all the way over here to find that they were closed during normal business hours. ‍

Colette B.

Yelp
I was so excited when a friend surprised me talking me to this restaurant. I was a frequent diner of Larchmere Traven. This is a wonderful restaurant that is a great location for dinner. The food was delicious and the staff amazing. I love the ambience that they created in the remodeling. Looking forward to checking out their happy hour.

Maya H.

Yelp
Scorpacciata brick and motar is a beautiful restaurant with great design. I wish they had more options for pasta. The menu seemed limited. The fettuccine was decent but I would have loved some other options that included shrimp or chicken. The variety of pizzas on the menu looked interesting.

Kristin P.

Yelp
We were there around 7:15pm on a Saturday and they were already closed :( unsure if they ran out for the day, but disappointed as they were the reason we came to the area. Hope to catch them next time!

Supi S.

Yelp
This review is for the Lee road ghost kitchen branch (which isn't on Yelp). Wow the pizza is incredible!! We ordered their new kale pizza with goat cheese instead of ricotta. It was truly delicious! The combo of toppings were unique but paired so well together. The pizza came out piping hot. It was also such a cool location for a ghost kitchen - they used the diner space of rising star coffee. The staff were so kind and let us eat in the cafe space. I can't wait to try their other pizzas on the menu! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Van Aken's Market Hall is such a lovely place to visit and this is a good place to stop of a bite inside. There's ample cozy seating around the edges of the hall to take a shopping snack break at. This little pizza stall in the center of the hall serves various lovely thin crust pizzas made fresh for you in about 20 minutes! They also have a sister stall for pasta a few steps away. We got a meatball pizza which was good but nothing to text home about. The thin crust was crispy and the sauce flavorful. There's not a lot of cheese on the thing though the ingredients tasted fresh. I tried the orecchiette pasta which was well done and salty with olives. The anchovy intrigued me when I saw it on the menu and I found the flavor to be lightly fishy and not too severe if anyone was afraid to try it! It's a decent staple restaurant in the square but I'm excited to try other stands the next time I go!

Julie B.

Yelp
Just had a wonderful meal. Pizza and orecchiette were delicious! Staff was very attentive.

D J.

Yelp
Fantastic Pizza at the Van Aken Market Hall. I have eaten the mushroom, Pepperoni and and the plain cheese pizzas over several months and they are always fresh and addictively tasty. There is always balance between the pizza and the topping making this my local favorite.

Nefeterri W.

Yelp
Located inside the Van Aken Marketplace, this is a must try. Their menu is not typical, which is a welcome change for me. All staff were friendly and knowledgable. They give you a vibrating device with your order number programmed into it while they prepare your order. The pasta was cooked to the perfect doneness. Everything was super fresh. I opted for the puttanesca. So many flavors were bouncing off this dish. They all played nice together, with each complimenting the next. I was worried the Calabrian Chiles would take over. I am not a spicy person. They provided the perfect zing, without taking over or making it too spicy. A nice balanced dish. I cannot wait to try the other offerings.

Sheena W.

Yelp
This pasta restaurant is located inside the new Van Aken Market Hall. Basically the Market Hall is a bunch of vendors with their little stations that you can order things at and either sit on a couple of bar stools or move to a bigger communal seating area. So while each dish is made fresh it's still a pretty casual move about environment. I sat at the counter and chatted a little with the owners who seemed pleasant. I enjoyed seeing them work on making pasta and other food prep. *Caesar $10 - This is a pretty big salad. You could even split it with someone if you're both getting pasta dishes as well. It was good, but I would have liked just a bit more dressing, and the croutons seemed a little plain and were so big I struggled to bust them down into smaller bite size pieces. *Carbonara $14 - I thought this was good as well and a great portion size for the price and quality. Enough to satisfy your pasta hunger but not enough to bust your gut. Pasta was cooked al dente. *Gnocchi $14 - I got this to-go so it was reheated a couple days later in my microwave. You'll probably have a better experience eating it fresh as my sauce separated, but it was still good. At first I though the shredded pear was odd, but it really helps to balance out the heavy rich flavors from the gnocchi and cream sauce. If I am ever in the area again I would try more menu options from here!

Angelo C.

Yelp
This savvy new eatery is located inside the recently developed Shaker Market Hall, an indoor venue that is part of the revitalized Van Aken shopping area. Essentially, this place is a non-comercialized version of Piada that adheres freshness and prepares everything daily. I ordered the Spaghetti Marinara, which was roughly 4 ounces of handmade pasta topped with shaved parmesan, what a treat! It was enough to satisfy my appetite while not creating a carb overload. The sauce was perfectly balanced and the noodles were al dente. Whatever the owner(s) had in mind when they conceptualized this place, they did it right! Excellent food and reasonable prices - I will surely return.

Amy J.

Yelp
Holy cow my gnocchi was great! Each piece had a nice browned surface, the truffle oil pervaded all and was deliciously aromatic and flavorful, and the Romano cheese added such a wonderfully soft moist savory profile to the whole dish. Absolutely great all around and I am really not a pasta person at all!

Dana E.

Yelp
Great service and recommendations by the staff. The mushroom pizza is top notch! The pepperoni was also delicious.

Leon D.

Yelp
We were extremely surprised at the great quality pizza we had from this place. They have a very small menu but we were very pleased with what we got. They are located in the beautiful Van Aken District area which is great because we have several other options to choose from for drinks and desserts. We are excited to try their other pizzas on the menu and also try their pasta from their sister company next door.

Mike E.

Yelp
Meatball pizza was all sauce and very little mozzarella. Crust was nice and crispy and the ingredients all tasted fresh but the proportions were off. Not sure if that is the style they are going for but I would recommend not trying the meatball.

Lynn T.

Yelp
This is the best pizza in the area so far. Great dough, cheese, sauce, toppings. So glad they are moving to a brick and mortar!

Zarina S.

Yelp
This is a pretty cute little spot inside the Van Aken market hall. I'm a sucker for pasta so obviously had to check this place out. The menu selection is small but has a bit of everything including beef, pork, chicken, lamb, and stuff for the veggie people. Given that their menu was so small, it was a little surprising that they were out of about 25% of their items so early into the evening at 630pm just at the start of dinner time. They have an option to add on whatever protein you want for a not so insignificant price but they were out of chicken as well so had to go the vegetarian route. I ordered the gnocchi which was delicious- the ingredients were super fresh and there were some really unique flavors added in (ie apple) which created another dimension to the dish. The downside is that the portion size was fairly small given the price, and especially given the more casual location. Overall, the service was great and the food is good, if they're not out of what you want. Definitely expect to pay a bit more than what'd you'd expect from a casual Italian spot.

Cindi R.

Yelp
They have gluten free options!! ALSO SUPER AWARE WITH ALLERGENS. I ordered the Gnocchi. They used a gluten free pasta that was out of this world. Then the Gorgonzola sauce, spinach, green apple and parmigiano topped the pasta. Awesome. They make their pasta homemade. See my picture. They have a sit up bar area as well as seating in the facility. A definite unique pasta shop worth a vIsit more than once!!

Gary M.

Yelp
I tried their avocado veggie pizza. I ate on location (Van Aken Market House) so the pizza was fresh out of the oven. Upon opening the box, I found a soggy, goopy, dripping mess. Apparently, there are a couple of white sauces on the crust and the few avacodos and few spinach leaves pretty much floated right off the crust, even under a lot of melted cheese. It was not cut through so I had to struggle with a plastic knife to finish the job. If you live on the east side of Cleveland, stick with Dewey's. As they say, "The best pizza on the planet".

J G.

Yelp
I tried the gnocchi and I wasn't disappointed. Flavorful, and the pear and balsamic only made it better.

Gina R.

Yelp
Amazing pizza love it and some of the very best in cle. Authentic Italian , brick oven made

Sameed M.

Yelp
Tried their clam linguine, a nice little Italian food store (or a hidden gem) within the Van Akon Plaza. Love the fresh pasta, nice sauce and clam. Would return for more

Alex D.

Yelp
Incredible. I've been writing reviews on Yelp for quite some time and enjoy the process. This is the first where I would have preferred just writing one word - "Incredible." and letting that stark review speak for itself. Since I "can't" do that, let me regale you with a little more detail, although you REALLY should just be gorging yourself on their pasta creations by now and not read my review... Pasta was _perfectly_ cooked. This is NO small feat. Gnocchi were light and delicious; carbonara was legit. Loved it. Will be back!

Krista S.

Yelp
The gnocchi is just . The flavor, the texture, the everything is amazing. Could not actually be better. Amazing. Grabbed some beer from the craft collective to go with it. Now I want to try everything. Amazing!

Henry L.

Yelp
This little food court style market hall is so fun. Every restaurant looks so delicious it's hard to choose but I'm glad I picked Scorpacciata. We tried the orecchiette and it was so good and flavorful, pasta really al dente, definitely want to try the rest of the pastas. You're left feeling full but not too full like you might with some heavier pasta dishes - it honestly tastes as great as it smells. Supa pasta

Michelle P.

Yelp
I have been working my way through the Van Aken market and yesterday I got to try Scorpacciata! The caesar salad was really good - I think the dressing was what got me. Also ordered the carbonara which had basil pasta, something new to me! I thought that the carbonara was good but I'd like to try a different pasta next time. I'd rate Scorpacciata around 4.5 stars, minus 0.5 because I do think it is slightly overpriced. However, the food is good and definitely worth a try!

Natalie S.

Yelp
The spicy pepper and sausage pizza was so good! It was a good portion for the price and the hot honey dipping sauce was good, although a bit pricey for $2 I will definitely be back to try other pizzas and pasta

David B.

Yelp
Decent pie. Shouldnt take 1 hour 20 for 2 slices though. Second time i've made a to go order for 2 slices and have been quoted 60+ minute wait time. Need more help? Hire more people. Not enough ovens? Get a bigger kitchen.

Courtney H.

Yelp
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE at the pizza stand. My family and I used to come here on a regular basis but after the way I was treated today we will NOT be returning.

Neha K.

Yelp
Food is good but service is awful , that really leaves a bad taste... whoever was working on Sunday (8/4) was not nice and didn't care to be there . Was treated differently and I didn't appreciate that . I definitely heard her greet some other customers and even ask where she's sitting . When my turn came, didn't say hello , or what I'd like . She literally waited till I spoke first ! I order my food, shows me the screen and flips the screen . Didn't hand my card back (I pulled it out myself) and just handed me a number and turned . So I told her BTW this is where I'm sitting . When she brought the food out , just handed the bowl without saying a word , took the number and walked away. Please treat people with respect and show some appreciation to your customers .

Nancy W.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places inside the market hall. I've tried the following: Orecchiette (Celery, Roasted Kale, Spicy Sausage, Anchovy, Young Romano, Breadcrumbs) - the kale is so good in this Orecchiette (fennel sausage, Calabrian chili, broccoli rabe, hull's trace) - this i believe is no longer offered, they switched up the ingredients (seasonal) Cassarecce (Roasted Kale, Killbuck Valley Oyster Mushrooms, Tomato Cream, Pecorino Romano) - very saucy kind of wish i had bread to go with this so I can dip it in the sauce Spaghetti and Meatballs - ordered multiple times Seared Gnocchi (Broccoli Rabe Pesto, local tomato, parmigiana, mascarpone) - LOVE PESTO, not on the menu anymore, they've replaced with the sweet potato gnocchi which I haven't tried yet Carbonara (Herbed fettucine, seared mushrooms, local peppers, yolks, parmigiana) - this wasn't my favorite but it was tasty all the same, I don't believe its being offered on the menu anymore I like that they change their menu so I am always going back to try a few new things. I usually head over during my lunch break and it does take a bit of time to prepare the order. So if you are in a time crunch this is something to be aware of. I did ask one of the employees if they take orders over the phone and they do. I really enjoy the strong flavors and the pasta is sooo good. One thing to note is that their choice of veggies for these dishes are soo good that I kind of wish there was more in the dish. The dishes are filling and I'm always craving more. Will probably be going back for lunch again soon.

Vibhu C.

Yelp
Picture this - it is Saturday night and you are hankering for some fresh made pasta - what do you do?!? You check your friendly yelp and this wonderful place pops up on your radar. You check the clock and it is 7:30 and the place closes at 8:00! Race there! 15 min to spare. Order the WHOLE menu. Oh boy was this a success. Suprisingly amazing dish was the beet salad - yup, you heard me right. We had ordered 3 of the pastas that were each delectable. Staff was friendly and helpful. We took it to go but the area seems fun to stick around and grab a drink. Excited to go back again soon...

Marissa C.

Yelp
This delightful pasta and salad place is located in the Van Aken Market Hall. On our recent visit, we ordered the seared gnocchi with meatballs - note that chicken, meatballs, fennel sausage, and pancetta are extra, so you can customize that portion of your dish to taste. It was flavorful and delicious and was very much enjoyed. When you order at Scorpacciata, they give you a number and then deliver your food to you. I was impressed by that, since there is a lot of seating in and around the Market Hall, and quite a bit of it is not visible from their restaurant. The server found us, though, and was quite pleasant and friendly!

Barbara D.

Yelp
I would not recommend Scorpacciata pizza! Hopefully their pasta is better. Ordered 2 pizzas last night. Their pepperoni pizza was over cooked, so consequently was tough and chewy. Note 1 to chef: if you can't fold hot, thin sliced pizza in half lengthwise, it's over cooked. But the worst was the mushroom pizza. If you like a little pizza with your garlic then you would love this. Note 2 to chef: too much of a good thing is not a good thing. After my first bite i knew something was off. I took the arugula off of 1 slice to see what was under. 4 thin mushroom remnants, almost no cheese & 10 clove-sized blobs of garlic on a single slice! Horrible. See my photo. If someone asked for extra extra garlic, this would still be double the amount of garlic they should get. Were they out of cheese and running low on mushrooms and decided we couldn't tell the difference? Note to Van Aken manager: get a new pizza maker.

Akshay K.

Yelp
We went here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. Surprisingly it was kind of empty for lunch time. We stood in line and the waitress did not greet us or say anything before she started to take our order. We were dining in the food hall so she gave us a number so she could bring our food to us. She ended up bringing our food. When was giving the food again she was silent. We were not sure what was going on. Advice to management , please train your staff to be friendly to customers otherwise you are not gonna get repeating customer. Food quality was pretty good actually. We all liked the fennel sausage. It's just that service sucks at this place.

Sarah M.

Yelp
Amazing. Definitely one of my top 5 places for pizza in the Cleveland area. Found this little gem while browsing Instagram and immediately added it to my list of places to check out. Everything from the crust to the tomato sauce was fantastic. Definitely a must try!!
