The 15 Best Kansas City BBQ Restaurants | Eater

"Thanks to Scott’s Kitchen, travelers with even the shortest layovers have no excuse to pass on Kansas City barbecue. Scott’s Northland location is as close as you can get to Kansas City International Airport without going through security. It’s also one of the only places in the city where you can order barbecue at 7 a.m. If you go for breakfast, try the brisket tacos. If you go for lunch — still try the brisket tacos. The spice-crusted, thick-sliced brisket is just one of many reasons locals without travel plans make the drive to the area." - Liz Cook

The 13 Best BBQ Spots In Kansas City, Ranked 2024

"Located 25 minutes north of downtown, Scott’s Kitchen is far enough out of Kansas City that there are other places for BBQ we’d send you to first. But its proximity to the airport means we’d be mad if you flew into KC and didn’t stop in for their BBQ and pulled rib tacos with Alabama white sauce. Their sampler platters can feed anywhere from two to six people and include charred burnt ends, ghost pepper sausage, and some of the best sides in KC: delicious baked beans loaded with chunks of burnt ends and refreshingly spicy coleslaw with apples and jalapeños. This is also one of the few places in town that does BBQ for breakfast—they open at 7am, so you can have a burnt ends burrito waiting for you after that Sunday night red-eye." - ryan bernsten

Independent barbecue near the airport, known for spice-crusted brisket, breakfast tacos, and smoked turkey. Consistently praised by Eater and Kansas City Magazine as a standout, locally loved pit stop.

I went out for the brisket sandwich at the recommendation of a lot of people. The first thing you notice is the wood smell when you walk into the place. It’s a great smell that should accompany any BBQ restaurant. I ordered the brisket sandwich and asked for the sauce on the side. It does come with sauce on the sandwich, so order appropriately. The sandwich was wrapped in foil. It looked amazing upon opening the wrapper. You could smell the wood flavor and see the sandwich looked great. The brisket was cut thick and had a nice bark on it. There was very little fat on the brisket. The bun was toasted and has a great flavor. The sandwich was delicious all the way until the end. Scott’s is a spot I will be eating at on my way to the airport and leaving the airport. If you like BBQ, this is a must stop at restaurant.

This place is definitely worth a visit! If you are flying into MCI and are hungry, wait until you leave, this place is a mile from the airport and it’s really good! Service was friendly and they have several tables inside to dine in. I tried their wings, which are the full wing (with the tip) and they’re pretty fat too! The smoke on them was great and their spicy BBQ was awesome on these wings! I also tried their burnt ends and they were decent, but I wasn’t too much of a fan of the fattiness, but flavor was great and I did get one that was crusty with bark and that one was excellent! Their ghost pepper sausage is really tasty and definitely worth trying if you enjoy spicy stuff! Overall, I’ll definitely return!

Google
Found this nice place near KC airport. Outstanding pulled pork. The BBQ chicken thighs were good though a little dry. Sweet BBQ beans were tasty. The service, excellent! Alyssa was friendly and courteous taking our order and explaining the menu. Trisha checked on us regularly and Emily was very nice. 5 star service. Regulars streamed in all the time we were there. Cheesy potatoes were ok but I don't recommend. Overall good BBQ.

Google
This is an excellent BBQ spot! It is small so unfortunately in the winter it can be hard to get a table inside if it’s busy around lunchtime. This is a counter serve locally owned spot. Their BBQ is awesome! We loved the bowls/burritos that they serve. The burnt ends are amazing!! We saw a man coming out from the kitchen and greeting some tables. If this was the owner that is a nice touch. This is the closest restaurant to the airport and on a warm day there are some outside picnic tables as well.

Stopped in 10 minutes before closing. We didn't realize it until we had already ordered. We apologized but they never made us feel like an inconvenience. The service and food were EXCELLENT. My husband said it was the best burnt ends he has ever had (and we eat BBQ often). Also, don't miss the cheesy potatoes! I could have made a meal of them, YUMMY! Only down side is limited seating but they had tables outside too.

Google
I've been wanting to try this place for a few years and after dropping off my Dad at the airport I thought it was good opportunity to grab some lunch and finally give them a try and boy oh boy I couldn't be more disappointed with this place. I opted to try both the Burnt Ends and Brisket and with sides of thier chili and gumbo for a price tag of $30. Brisket was dry as a bone with little seasoning so I moved onto the Burnt Ends that visually looked very good but once you dig in it was a disgusting goop of fat with a overwhelming amount of salt on it! Literally this is the worst Burnt ends I've ever had in my life, its almost not edible with how much salt is on it truly disgusting. The sides were a joke as well and the sauces are thin almost watery. I will never return to this restaurant and arguably might be some of the worst BBQ I've ever had in my life. My mouth still tastes like salt after 3 glasses of water I swear to god these Burnt ends taste just like giant salt cubes.

Google
Took a customer here who highly recommended the place. I am pretty critical of good BBQ so I had high expectations. Saw that they had awards for best smoked turkey. Which I think is the toughest meat to get right. Coworker and I split the 2 person sampler. It was excellent. Turkey was the best I have had in the country, which is saying something. Ribs were also one of the best I have had. Coleslaw was by far the best I have had. Very tart and fresh. Excellent menu. Something for everyone. Highly recommend this place.

Google
Great little BBQ joint. The staff is super friendly, the prices are more than fair and the food was incredible. I had the brisket and ribs. Both meats were delicious, but the ribs were at another level. Meat just fell off the bones. Baked beans were killer and the potato salad was decent. It had dill pickle flavor.....not really my thing but good nonetheless. If you're near MCI, it's worth a detour.

Yelp
As dedicated fans of Scott's, we have thoroughly enjoyed both lunch and dinner at this establishment on numerous occasions. This has instilled in us a sense of excitement as we looked forward to exploring their breakfast menu. Over our previous visits, we have consistently appreciated the diverse range of options and the delightful flavors that Scott's has to offer. With this in mind, we were genuinely curious whether their breakfast offerings would live up to the high standards we had come to expect. With great anticipation, we made the decision to try breakfast at Scott's, eager to uncover the delicious dishes they had crafted for the morning meal. Upon arrival, we decided to sample the biscuits and gravy as well as the burnt ends breakfast burrito, both of which were simply delicious! The biscuits were warm, fluffy, and perfectly paired with a rich, savory gravy that had just the right amount of seasoning. Meanwhile, the burnt ends breakfast burrito was a flavor-packed delight, featuring tender pieces of smoked meat wrapped with eggs and fresh ingredients, all enveloped in a warm tortilla. Additionally, we were fortunate to have Trisha as our server. Her kindness and genuine enthusiasm added to our experience, making the morning even more enjoyable. She was incredibly attentive and engaging, creating a welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home. Thank you, Trisha, for the excellent service! We left feeling satisfied and excited to return for another meal at Scott's.

Yelp
I ordered the Chipotle Ghost Pepper Jack Cheese Sausage on a Hoagie and let me tell you something, I got a sausage on a hoagie, see pic. It was the saddest sandwich I've ever had. I ordered for delivery so I don't know if had I ordered it there that I would have been presented with options or some sort of condiment bar, but the delivery app (Uber Eats) didn't offer any options, just the sandwich. I also ordered the large squeeze bottle of spicy BBQ sauce that I planned to use on the sandwich and some other food I had in my hotel that I would eat some other day, but the BBQ sauce was left out of my order. So, there was no saving the sandwich. I did eat the sausage by itself and it was fine, but it was far from what I was expecting. I also got 3 lamb tacos that were on a special (not on the menu at the moment). The flavor was Greek inspired but they were really just kind of weird and while I was able to get through the three small tacos I couldn't have eaten any more, not because I was full but because the flavor just became more and more unpleasant. A few of the other people I was in town with for work had high praise for Scott's, but I can only rate them based on what they gave me and what I got was the worst meal I had in KC in the entire two months I was there.

Yelp
Dang good BBQ! Got Togo and headed back to the hotel. Would definitely come back. Staff was super nice.

Yelp
So, what do you think of when someone says let's go for barbecue? Is it ribs so tender that the meat falls off the bone? Is it the tips of the brisket that have gotten all charred up and then cut into burnt end pieces, and served either in a sandwich or on a meat plate? Is it sliced brisket on a huge bread roll with a little bit of slaw and some barbecue sauce on it? Or maybe pulled pork on a bun smothered with barbecue sauce and topped with string onions? All sound good but it's not usually what I think about when I think about barbecue. I think the best meat out there for barbecue is sausage! Now I'm kind of a nut for sausage, but I don't really care for beef, chicken, or turkey sausage it has to be pork sausage! I have had kielbasa, Polish sausage, and ghost pepper sausage. And one of my favorite places to get sausage at is at a kitchen they call Scott's up by Mid Continent Airport! And as I was sitting around the house today thinking about what I would cook for my evening meal, coming across my screen was this beautiful link of sausage and a nice bread roll smothered with slaw and a good drizzle of spicy salsa! It was a Halloween special they were serving up a Scott's Kitchen. Needless to say, I knew right away where I was going to be eating dinner tonight. So around 4:30 I drove up there and look at what I snagged! Just look at that beautiful piece of sausage nice and red from all the smoke, plenty of bun overhang a good smother layer of slaw and then that spicy salsa to boot. You can't pick it up! Believe me I tried because I'm not afraid of getting messy, but this thing is so big I could not get my mouth around it, and I have a very big mouth! I don't know who Scott has make his sausage or if it's made in house but whoever is doing it is getting the right content of fat to meat to cheese and to the spices and seasoning. While ghost pepper does indicate that it is hot, it isn't so spicy that you'll have to have your tongue recovered tomorrow. If anything, the heat in this sausage does nothing but enhance the flavor! And then there are the beans, sweet with lots of meat chunks in there and just as good as you can ever imagine. Nice and saucy they're not baked, and it's not dry like some baked beans get. Scott, if you're reading this post, I would love to see this as part of your regular menu! Well done Scott's kitchen! Well done indeed! On a rainy afternoon I am stuffing my face with one of the best sausage sandwiches that you can find in this town at Scott's Kitchen!

Yelp
We were driving through KC so had to find some bbq. This was the perfect quick stop. You order at the counter so the service is quick with top notch quality and freshness. The meat had great smoke flavor and was tender. The sides were delicious and clearly homemade. I appreciated that the potato salad wasn't overwhelmingly mayonnaise, you could actually tell there was potato in it. The slaw went perfect with the brisket. The place was busy, rightfully so and the service was great!

Yelp
Our favorite stop before the airport. Food is consistent and staff are friendly. Love their burnt ends burrito. I get this every time we're in town.

Yelp
Nice little spot I'd heard about and been wanting to try for a while. I liked being able to sit outdoors even though it was pretty busy on a weekend. Great burnt ends. Brisket was fine, if a little dry. The gumbo had a flavor neither my friends nor I could place and we all found overwhelmingly weird (banana???). Cheesy potatoes were good.
google avatar

Tracy S.

Yelp
Can I give 6 stars? Once again, this place hits a home run! I love the consistency for really exceptional food. My hubby had the two meat/two sides combo. He had excellent burnt ends and tasty brisket. The beans were great too!!! My tacos were just to die for. Did you know, you can order any "spicy" taco as mild instead? That makes me so happy! My two favorites are the Buffalo chicken taco, and the Pulled Pork (mild) taco. They are like the gold and silver medalists in the bbq-taco-Olympics of life.

Yelp
We stopped here after leaving the airport and shared a really good meal. We had Jalapeño apple slaw, Beans, Brisket and Burnt ends. Everything was as good as we expected and service was fantastic! Had the weather been just a little nicer, we could have enjoyed their outdoor patio area.

Yelp
Now I know why over 600 Yelpers give this restaurant a 4.8 rating. Scott's is what makes KC famous for barbecue and it's located right by KCI. As a Northlander, I'm shocked I haven't been here before! For my first meal, I did a meat plate to taste the fabulous burnt ends, plus some chicken thighs. Perfectly cooked, juicy and awesome flavor. The slaw with jalapeño was unique and simply great. The cheesy potatoes were yummy. Loved the spicy sauce and the superb lemonade. Service is super fast. The dining room is cozy and clean. I found the wait staff to be friendly and helpful. Can't wait for my next visit, probably to try their breakfast. Simply a great meal!

Yelp
Scott's bbq was so good. I see exactly why they almost have 5 stars. The sauce was good both the sweet and spicy. All of the meats were smoked to perfection. The brisket was so tasty. The ribs were tender and well cooked. The beans and turkey and sausage gumbo were delicious. My friend had the pulled pork tacos and a turkey chili bowl. The combinations of tacos and burritos were great. Service here was quick and very good. This place is right outside of the airport. So make a stop here once you land.

Yelp
I found this place on a whim. I had just dropped a friend off at the airport and was absolutely starving. So I stopped in here having no idea what to expect. This small BBQ restaurant has some big flavor. Kansas City is known for BBQ and Scott's did not disappoint. It is among my top 5 favorite BBQ joints around the area and I now make an effort to swing by every time I'm in this area. I have tried all sorts of things on their menu and none of it has been bad! The gumbo is a favorite. I love how they are all about some flavor around here. Gumbo is one of those dishes that is a little of this a little of that and you can appreciate all the different ingredients coming together. This recipe is one of the best I've had and their smoked sausage is amazing. It makes this gumbo something so delicious that just can't be replicated. Another one of the things I find myself ordering again and again is the BBQ tacos. I usually go for the pulled pork or brisket but you can't go wrong with any of the ones they have. Flour tortillas loaded with BBQ meat, slaw, cheese and a bit of salsa on top. I liken it to a BBQ slider sandwich without the bun. Just one taco will fill you up and the plate of three is a very hearty meal. If you request a to go box after taco 2 you'll be good to go and have one for later but it's hard not to eat the 3rd one too (which I don't recommend doing if you need to run through the airport!) I tried their margarita to go with tacos and it was just as good as everything else had plenty of kick. Speaking of which, I like spicy food and I order the mild tacos here. They have some heat to them even though they're supposed to be mild. If you do not do hot stuff try the meats or anything not a taco. Stick with the sweet sauce not spicy. Scott's is a must do for friends from out of town looking for Kansas City BBQ. Hope you like it as much as I do

Yelp
I really can't say enough positive things about this establishment. The staff are very welcoming and seam to be truly happy in what they are producing. And the product they produce is very good. Great atmosphere with cool aero inspired pictures. I've been there for dinner and was pleasantly surprised to see they're open for breakfast as well. The breakfast is very good and reasonably priced. The breakfast bowls are hearty! The lunch/dinner fare is all delicious. I would strongly suggest the ghost sausage and the jalapeño/apple slaw. But no matter what you order, you will be satisfied. All of their fare is home/hand made. A small business that is most assuredly worthy of praise and patronage. To the owners and employees, please continue to KA-Every day! Be proud of what you are producing and thank you.

Yelp
I've had this place saved for a while now, but their hours never seem to jive with ours. When the husband was craving Bbq for his birthday, thought we'd take a chance. We had seven in our party and everyone ordered something different AND of course, I tried each item. Solid is probably the best word I can give it. Nothing amazing, nothing bad. Sauce is a bit on the sweet side. Meat was a little dried out. We had leftovers that ended up going to the dog. Great service, very helpful and attentive. Little restaurant that would easily fill up inside, but on a nicer day, has an option for outdoor dining. I'd leave this on a try again list, but with the competition in KC being so steep, would decide from that point whether it remained on my list.

Yelp
Scott's kitchen serves some of the best barbecue around! The brisket tacos were out of this world--tender, smoky, and packed with flavor. And don't miss the bowl - it's the perfect mix of spice and savory. Great food, friendly service, and a cozy vibe--highly recommend!

Yelp
Had the Burnt ends, smoked turkey and pulled pork for lunch and it was AWESOME - everything tasted great with just the right amount of spice - Cole slaw was some of the best I ever had

Yelp
Scott's has been on my radar for quite some time. It is the last BBQ spot that comes up in "best of KC" type discussions that I haven't been to. Their limited hours have made it a harder spot to get to with my schedule. When I pulled up, I wasn't sure what to expect. It is a pretty low key and nondescript building. The interior was small and a bit cramped, but very clean. There is an outdoor area I chose to eat at with a bit more space. The service at the counter was super friendly. I got a two meat plate with burnt ends and the sausage. For my sides I got the cheesy potatoes and the baked beans. I thought the burnt ends were excellent. They were a bit on the bigger side for my liking, but the bark was there and the fat was nicely rendered. The sausage was spicier than I expected. I know it is ghost pepper jack cheese sausage, but I typically don't get the heat level I'd expect even when things say they have ghost pepper in them. Not the case with Scott's. They bring the heat with their sausage. The sides were good as well. I thought the beans had a nice kick to them as well. The cheesy potatoes were probably the weakest of the things I tried, but still good. Overall, I'm very glad I made the trek up north to this place that is just a stone's throw from the airport. It was well worth it. I think I'd put them in top 5 BBQ in KC for sure, but could certainly hear an argument for top 3 or even the best. I'd love to go back and try some of the other meats especially the ribs and brisket.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying, this was a detour that turned into one of the best eats ever. I wasn't supposed to be in Kansas City but a detour sent me here. So of course, in true me fashion I quickly looked up the closest bbq places ( knowing the history of legendary bbq in Missouri ). I came upon a vast selection, none of which you can go wrong with choosing. Scott's stood out the most and it was the closest to the airport so it was a no brainer. I ubered there as fast as I could ( 8-10 min drive), I arrived to the smell of ribs on the grill and instantly knew this was going to be good. The service was outstanding as the ladies at the checkout let me sit where ever with my luggage and got me water asap . I took one look at the menu and already knew what I wanted and that's what we see here on this plate : St. Louis style ribs - 1/2 the star of the show. Crowning them the best ribs I've had to date. Smokey, fall off the bone, juicy and tender . The spicy bbq sauce on top sends them to another planet . Ghost pepper chipotle sausage . 1/2 star of the show. Absolutely delicious. Spicy, Smokey, had that snap a great sausage is supposed to have. Packed with flavor from north to south Cheesy potatoes Gumbo - good, it doesn't give you New Orleans when you eat it but it surely is good. Watermelon Slices of white bread Sweet Tea . All in all I see why this place is considered legendary, classic bbq spot setting and I cannot wait until the day I pass through Kansas City again.

Yelp
We were wanting some breakfast tacos and went in yelp to find that Scott's kitchen had them! Came and was not disappointed!! These were the best breakfast tacos I have ever had!! Topped it off with a mimosa! Thank you Scott!

Yelp
Popped in here after visiting an antique store in Platte City. I'm usually a pork girl at bbq joints but the girl at the counter said they are best known for brisket and burnt ends. I was a little nervous because everything looked spicy on the menu and after radiation on my throat I can no longer handle spice but she said she could make things mild. I got a burnt ends taco and a brisket taco. They were amazing! The burnt ends was my fave. The totortillas seemed homemade. Also shared the potato casserole and it was delicious and a chocolate chip cookie which was also dedelicious! It's an odd little spot near the airport but I think that is a hallmark of good kc bbq!

Yelp
Amazing service. Fast pickup of huge sampler platter for $50 and cashier was so friendly. He threw in a free cookie. The beans were out of this world smoky and sweet. Ideal. The sausage was super savory and wonderfully spicy. The wing in white sauce was great and I don't even care for wings! Brisket very lean so not quite juicy but not bad. Burnt ends just fatty enough with good flavor. Must try!

Yelp
First time having Kansas City barbecue and it did not disappoint! This place super close to the airport and they do to go. I ate here when I flew in and flew out in the same trip. Everyone was very nice and the service was great. The cheesy potatoes were amazing

Yelp
Came in from the airport and wanted some KC barbecue before heading to Springfield. Looked on Yelp and this had the best reviews of nearby places and was on the way to our destination. Got the burnt ends and brisket plate with a quarter pound of the chipotle ghost pepper smoked sausage. Jalapeño apple slaw and baked beans as sides. The sausage was spicy and well-flavored. The burnt ends were utter perfection. Beautifully moist with a lovely char and caramelized barbecue sauce. The brisket was well-smoked and had a lovely flavor. The apple slaw is not super spicy and was a nice fresh accompaniment to the heavier meats. Lifted the pallet well. The baked beans, though. Y'all. The secret is they add blended apple pie filling. So. Freaking. Good. Gives it a richness and interest. Best baked beans I've ever had (and I've had a lot). Wait staff was lovely. The woman at the cash register was knowledgeable, helpful and had wicked good eyeliner (unimportant to the quality of food, but worth noting). Two different people came by to check on us throughout the visit, both wonderful. Had lots of fun eating good food and meeting nice folks. Our only sadness was learning they are closed on Sundays so we cannot visit again before our flight out. If you want good barbecue and are in the area, check it out! I got one will be thinking about this food for a long time.

Yelp
From the customer service down to the food it was worth all of the hype. Vibes friendly staff and the owner was everything. I feel like I lve known everyone for years. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner try it ALL! I was in town for weeks I made repeat business. The meat was delicious and the baked beans were a dream. If you're to fill for dessert take it with you. Grab a chocolate chip cookie from by the register you won't regret it. Also try the margarita with brisket seasoning around the rim . It's the best ‼ The stafff : Kristy Shannon Amanda Melissa Caitlyn Mackenzie Corey Dalton - amazing the food was orgasmic and if you place an to go order they will call if anything is out of stock it's perfect Everybody was excellent bring your friends and family they did not disappoint (:

Yelp
I came here during a layover and I'll say this is the best BBQ I have ever had. I loved the sauce on the ribs, brisket was excellent and the cheesy potatoes were on another level. I bought some sauce and rub and have gotten so many compliments on my ribs. Service was amazing as well.

Yelp
I stayed nearby for an extended work trip and enjoyed Scott's food, service, and seating on all three solo visits. The brisket was usually dry, but their burnt ends are top notch. I went back for the burnt ends. I didn't give 5x stars because of the brisket and because the prices were more than the well-known Q39 downtown Kansas City! They also serve beer, wine, and cocktails but I didn't partake - prices for alcohol seemed to be reasonable. Seating outdoors is nice despite being in a hotel/commercial area. There are always a lot of people enjoying the restaurant and the vibe is low key and nice. Scott's is counter-service with table delivery and server cleanup/drink service. Servers were very nice and attentive.

Yelp
KC BBQ! Awesome KC BBQ! We sampled the pulled pork, and chicken wings with a variety of sauces. Great atmosphere near the Kansas City International Airport! I recommend you stop by!

Yelp
Wow, Finally found the hidden gem of BBQ. Ordered via Uber eats and man is this food great. From the homemade coleslaw and bake beans to the real seasoning on the pulled pork. Combined this with the hunks of burned ends. Oh and don't forget the sweet or spicy sauce. Yum yum eat them up.

Yelp
Great staff, amazing hidden little gem. I got the pulled pork tacos, coleslaw on top and they give a side of spicy and sweet Bbq for your very filling 3 tacos. My only regret I ate them in the car and wished for a hand washing station. Could have locked my hands all day! So tasty! Try their sweet tea as well. Not to sweet and very refreshing!

Yelp
We were starving when we arrived at MCI. And of course we had to have KC BBQ! Much to our surprise this highly rated place was only a short drive from the airport. Let me tell you... this place was a wonderful surprise! Not only was the food amazing, but it was clean, and the staff! SOOO nice! They even played Tic Tac Toe on the glass with our daughter. I mean what an amazing place. There are some places that you go to just to eat, some that you go to for the ambiance, and others because you like the people. This place had it all and we would highly recommend it!

Yelp
amazing service especially dealing with our picky eater 6 year old. The ribs, burnt ends & brisket were amazing! the sides stole the show: chili, gumbo pickle & potato egg salad and the ChEESY potatoes. my daughters white fish tacos were so great as well. so many choices!

Yelp
Brisket tacos are awesome, the fat slice of brisket on a warm tortilla was exactly what I needed. Friendly staff, quick service. I will be back.

Yelp
This is one of those reviews that I don't want to be honest with because I feel like I am letting everyone know about a secret. I'm always hesitant because I'm afraid that once everyone finds out it will be super busy. But....because I am so appreciative of all the yelp reviews I read that lead me to these "secret places" I want to help others find awesome places too! This place is super close to the airport and is VERY convenient if you are flying in or out of the airport. It also is worth your time even if you aren't flying. The MENU consists of breakfast items (served up until 11 am), sandwiches, tacos, salads, sides and plate combinations. They also have a deal that for $50 for 2 people you can get a sample of ALL sides and ALL meats. I was tempted to share this with my SIL but we both were leaning towards the tacos, which came recommended by other reviewers. You order up at the counter and they bring out the food to you when it's ready. ORDERING time! I wanted to try the brisket and the burnt end tacos so I ordered 2 brisket tacos and 1 burnt end taco and by ordering each separately it was more $ than if I ordered 3 of the same tacos. So....we decided that I was going to order 3 brisket tacos (3 to a plate-better deal than ordering each taco separately) and my SIL was going to order 3 burnt end tacos and we would share. It was a perfect way to get the best bang for our buck and provide us with both kinds of tacos. The restaurant provides both indoor and outdoor SEATING. We were lucky to have gone on a beautifully sunny day and so we ate outside. The food was delivered within 5 minutes of ordering and the service was great! So many people came by our table making sure we were doing good and asking if we needed anything. Everyone was so friendly. Kudos to you all for that! The FOOD was absolutely delicious! Both the meats were tender and so very flavorful. The burst end tacos had cotija cheese and salsa on it and had a great flavor that didn't over power the meat. The brisket was a bit spicier and had the jalapeño slaw and a hot sauce on top. I love spicy food so I really enjoyed it. I think that perhaps for those on the border of not liking spicy food it might be a bit spicy but it's so hard to say. They both were so good that I honestly couldn't say which one was my favorite. I would order them both again in a heartbeat! However, I think next time I go (and you better believe I will be back!) I think I will order the sampler deal and go back at dinner and after I land so that any leftovers I might have, I could bring back with me. Thank you all at Scott's Kitchen for fabulous service and delicious food! I will be back next time I'm in KC

Yelp
I knew the moment I stepped off the plane that I needed to eat KC BBQ for lunch... and FAST! This place did not disappoint! Obviously, I got some burnt ends. I decided to try the jalapeño sausage, cheesy potatoes, and gumbo. Since I had a long drive ahead of me, I got everything to go. It tastes delicious fresh! It was still great 1.5 hours later (when I got to my final destination), and it was enough food to eat for a late dinner after a visit to the pool! The hospitality did not disappoint, either! Thank you so much! Y'all made my trip to Missouri completely devoid of Misery!

Yelp
This place was very good! A little bit different of a vibe then the Kansas City triple crown with the options that they have but still very delicious. The burrito was amazing and the two meat sandwich that my wife got was also really good! Prices were fair and the options they had were very sufficient. Hopefully next time I'll make it in time to try their delicious looking burnt ends breakfast burrito!

Yelp
I am literally shocked by all the good reviews of this place! Maybe they were having an off day..... but the BBQ was some of the worst BBQ I have ever had in my life (and the people I was with also agreed). I hate to even say that because the staff was super friendly and welcoming!! Service was 5/5, but the food was a 1/5 in my opinion. :(

Yelp
If you're by the airport, this is the best place to go. In a city that is so saturated with bbq, Scott's provides a unique fusion between bbq and Mexican. The burnt end tacos are delicious as are the sandwiches. This place is also well worth going to from any part in the city for breakfast. Service is a little slow but Scott's beats any airport hotel restaurant.

Yelp
Our family was on a trip which originated from Kansas City. When we were on the plane, a person seated next to us, spoke highly of and recommended this restaurant for genuine Kansas City barbecue. he stated that the pilots of the major airlines try to get legs, which intersect into Kansas City, just to go to this barbecue restaurant. I of course, thought yeah right, but when we come back, I'll give it a try. so, about a week and a half later, we did. And I'm glad we did. The atmosphere is laid-back and cozy the server and everybody we interacted with were very kind. They were very kind to our 14 month old son. He enjoyed himself. The food was amazing. Barbecue was very well cooked. It wasn't dry. It was seasoned properly. The barbecue sauce was very tasty. The sides were very good and we really enjoyed that. It came with a slice of watermelon. When we return to Kansas City, we plan to visit this place again. Another review mentioned it's not a surprise that over 600 reviews have led to this business having a 4.8 star review status. I would agree!

Yelp
Dry, tasteless brisket and day-old ribs, reheated and served to me with a smile. Nothing like paying $40 for day old barbecue (and it's not the first time!). How do I know you ask? Because I've had their fresh ribs and they're delicious. But today was abysmal. If you can't remain consistent in your product, you will not have me as a customer. Not approved!

Yelp
Perfect pre airport pit stop! We randomly stumbled upon this after getting to the airport early. Amazing BBQ and sauces. The meals are ready to go for airport convenience or a nice dine in experience. We got the Brisket bowl and Brisket tacos. You will not be disappointed! Definitely part of our new airport routine when in Kansas City.

Yelp
I'm such a fan of KC bbq. There are so many fantastic places in the KC area. I decided to try this place before a flight out of town. It was delicious. I had the brisket breakfast tacos and they were the best breakfast tacos I've ever had. The people working were friendly and there was just a great vibe. This a top tier bbq spot.

Yelp
My only complaint is that this place is so far from my house! I did the one meat platter with pulled pork and the meat was so soft and tender. The cheesy potatoes are the side you must get! I will be dreaming about them. Baked beans were also good and they made them the right way: with chunks of meat. So good!!

Yelp
So glad I found this Barbecue! KC BBQ is so good. This is short ride from the airport and provides great service for eat in or take away. Ambiance is blue collar, working people, breakfast and lunch. Good food for good people who keep the USA moving. Scott's is the real deal and will definitely be on my rotation when I visit KC.

Yelp
This was a great spot and one of the only places in KC that serves true brisket slices; not shaved brisket (shaved brisket is a travesty). Brisket tasted good and had a nice smoke ring but was a little dry-- I absolutely attribute this to coming in just 45 min before closing-- the brisket had been sitting all day and wasn't THAT dry. I wonder if it would have been different earlier in the day it would have been really juicy. Turkey skin was a bit salty but overall good flavor. Burnt ends were great, pulled pork was juicy and tasty. The bbq beans are worth coming for alone.

Yelp
Outstanding experience. Service was efficient, staff were so nice they made you feel like a regular! Cool insider and ordering area plus outside seating is nice. The food: outstanding. Truly delicious burnt ends. Tasty cheesy potatoes. I want to try the jalapeño apple slaw next time. Sauces were very good. Spicy was my favorite. I will be back very soon.

Yelp
This was absolutely amazing!, The food was mouth-wateringly delicious atmosphere. Quick service, great staff, our waitress, Tricia kept bringing us refills. She even brought a water out and a bowl for our dog to drink. Can't say enough about this. My mouth is still watering. Great food! Great prices! Great service. Can't wait to come back again. Love, Scott's kitchen
