Nestled in Back Bay, Michael Serpa's Select Oyster Bar serves up a cozy seafood haven featuring everything from zesty crudo to delightful oysters.
"Select serves light Mediterranean seafood, creative cocktails, wine and craft beer. The service is very casual and the staff is fun and friendly. We've had everything on the menu and it's all delicious - especially the ribeye. Be prepared for the 20% Pre-Tax Gratuity on all checks, but trust us, it's well worth it." - Amalgam
"For an upscale midday meal, this swanky Back Bay seafood spot serves zesty crudo, crispy octopus, and of course, oysters by the dozen. The menu is the same for both lunch and dinner, so if you’re looking to try out chef Michael Serpa’s lauded food without the bustling dinner crowds, going for lunch is a great move." - Celina Colby
"This Gloucester seafood palace is the perfect place to have some crudo or swordfish bouillabaisse when you’re fully over dealing with the slow-moving crowds on Newbury Street. Walk down the steps of the historic Back Bay townhouse to the ground floor and you’ll find this cozy, casual, bistro-style restaurant that’s great for lunch and dinner, with dishes like blue crab salad, white anchovies, and mixed ceviche. Go ahead and get a little day drunk on cocktails like the Hidalgo with tequila, amaro, Aperol, and lemon." - Tanya Edwards
"Select Oyster Bar in Back Bay is probably what Legal’s would feel like if it went on vacation and swapped out its loafers for some boat shoes. It’s a small, relaxed spot that’s a good choice for when you want to skip your afternoon meeting and have a drink and some oysters. Well, actually, that’s probably every day for you - but when you actually make it happen, come here. The menu is small, but pretty much everything is good. We especially like the ceviche and warm lobster roll, and the vegetable sides are surprisingly great too." - dan secatore
"“Tiny little oyster bars” is practically a restaurant genre all its own in Boston. But because of the whole “tiny little” part, they’re usually close to impossible to get into (looking at you, Neptune). But Select in Back Bay, a tiny little oyster bar with modern art on the wall, a decent sized bar, and a deck out back, is an exception. The menu here is slightly untraditional in the sense that they don’t have chowder and the lobster roll isn’t a permanent fixture, but you won’t really miss either dish when you have a glass of wine to wash down the white anchovies with heirloom tomatoes, bouillabaisse, or even some very good non-seafood dishes, like the cauliflower with hazelnut aioli." - dan secatore
