Sen Thai Noodle is located near Chinatown on Arville and Desert Inn. You'll find them behind Shanghai Plaza, on Pioneer Avenue, next to a 24 hour laundromat. There's limited parking and it's a tight space.
Inside is a cozy atmosphere with wood table seating, a beautiful menu board, and tv screen to view various cooking channel. Music is peaceful and relaxing.
Menu offers a great selection of appetizers, salad, hot pot soup, chef recommends, noodle soup, curry, rice dish, stir-fried noodle, fried rice, dessert and drinks.
Pineapple Fried Rice ($16.95) with real crab meat (+$9) is magnificent! Fried rice is super flavorful and nicely sautéed in curry powder, garlic, pepper, has fluffy scrambled egg, pineapple chunks, tomato, onion, cashew nuts, cilantro, and plenty of crab meat, Yum! The dish is garnished with finely shredded cabbage, carrots, fresh cucumber, and parsley, served with a lovely crispy wonton.
I was brought several condiment sauces to add spice to the dish. It was also nice the owner came by to check in, asked how everything was, and even showed me the special fish sauce they use, which is not overpowering and is a great flavor enhancer.
For dessert, I had questions about Thai Ice Cream Bun but could not find a picture, so I opted for Iced Thai Coffee ($5) and Coconut Ice Cream ($5). Iced Thai Coffee is yummy and refreshing!
I waited awhile for the ice cream, and when it arrived it was actually a different dessert which is a big portion of two scoops of coconut ice cream atop sweet sticky rice, coconut cream, whole peanuts, and a soft bread which resembles a hotdog bun. In Thailand, they use soft buns for ice cream sandwich and add sticky rice.
Thai Ice Cream Bun ($10) is shareable for 2 to 3 people, I could not finish and had to take the remainder home. Other desserts they have are mango sticky rice, custard toast, tiramisu, and chocolate cake.
Overall service from Peter and owner Sam is welcoming, attentive, efficient, and friendly!
