NYC New Restaurant Openings, August 2025 | Eater NY

"Joining the growing dining district around the Javits Center, this sibling to nearby Friedman’s serves house-made pastas like spinach ricotta ravioli, Sicilian-style square pizzas (developed with help from a Roberta’s alum), panini, and tomato and burrata salads, while carving out lots of room for gluten-free diets on the menu." - Nadia Chaudhury

Serano's Italian - Review - Midtown - New York - The Infatuation

"Serano’s Italian is from the team behind Friedman’s, and like that restaurant, they have an impressive array of gluten-free options. You could stop here for some gluten-free bucatini al limone and a drink before a game at nearby Madison Square Garden. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists. RESERVE A TABLE" - Willa Moore

I had an amazing experience at Seranos Italian Restaurant! From start to finish, everything was top-notch. The food is absolutely fantastic, every dish we tried was full of flavor and made with care. The appetizers were fresh and flavorful, the pasta dishes were perfectly cooked with rich, authentic sauces, and the pizza was simply incredible with a perfect crust and delicious toppings. The service at Seranos is also outstanding. The staff is attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming, making you feel right at home. They were happy to answer questions about the menu and gave great recommendations. The restaurant itself has a warm and inviting atmosphere, ideal for a casual meal with friends, a date night, or even a business dinner. On top of that, the location is very convenient, just a short walk from Penn Station, which makes it easy to get to and from. Overall, Seranos Italian Restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and a great location makes it one of my favorite spots in the city. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Italian cuisine with a welcoming atmosphere. I can’t wait to come back and try more dishes 🤩👍👍👍👍👍

The family and I stopped in to meet some friends per a recommendation and the place didn’t disappoint. We did a family style trying all different plates from the sandwiches, to the pasta dishes. All the plates were really good with nice sized portions for the entire group but my favorite was the pesto agnolotti. The flavor from the sauce was delicious and surprising. The service was great with a friendly staff. The manager Yana helped us choose some dishes off the menu. We’ll definitely be stopping in again when in the neighborhood.

Amazing gluten free Italian! Same owners of Friedman’s, so you know they don’t compromise on taste. I also love the pizza is crispy deep dish not a common thin gluten free crust. My non-gluten free friends loved it too, especially the fried mozzarella.

Google
11/10 no notes for their gluten free menu. The fried mozzarella with the sauce was the star of the show. So cheese and good, and the sauce, yum! The sandwich was huge too! The bread didn't fall apart or anything like more gluten free breads tend to. Found it on accident on my way going to Friedman's next door, definitely a happy accident and meant to be found. Definitely will be back!

Loved it here!! Carbo loaded for the marathon and couldn’t think of a better place to do it than Serano’s! We got the Vodka Pie and the Bolognese and it was to die for! You could tell that it was house made and the chef came up to us directly to check in and ensure we enjoyed our meal! Would come back here in a HEARTBEAT! And we ended with the HOMEMADE tiramisu and it was so fresh and creamy!

Okay there are no words to convey how thrilled I am with Serano's. In town for three days and dined there all three days. Celiac and non celiac dining companions were equally thrilled. The Fried Zucchini was shockingly delicious!! The Hot Louie Detroit Style pizza blew me away. My dining companion had the regular Crispy Chicken Parmesan Panini and the next day he had the Meatball Parmesan Panini which he raved about. We had the Italian Chop Salad, and the last day of our stay I had the Bucatini Limone made with Meyer Lemon, Fresh Parmesan and butter. I had it with Shrimp added but you can get it just the noodles or chicken and other protein additions. I have never had anything so delicious in my life. Each meal we had he Cheesecake for dessert and well you can just imagine how outrageously phenomenal it was. Glad Toronto is close as we are planning on coming back at least once a month. Equally as great was the staff and service. So warm and kind. Thank you Serano's for a great three days!!

Google
Cute atmosphere and yummy food. The fried zucchini were amazing. The entire menu can be made gluten free. If you have celiac, be careful because the pizza is cooked in the same oven as normal pizza. The frier is specifically for gluten free products only.

I stopped in for a quick meal before catching my train at Penn Station (a quick 3 minute walk away). I walked in with no reservation and was quickly accommodated with very pleasant service. I ordered the gluten free shrimp scampi pasta which was tastefully spicy and had lovely bucatini noodles. The dish came with a gluten free flag which is always nice for extra security! Tons of gluten free options and I would consider coming back to try something new on my next trip!

Yelp
Great meal! I got the chicken parm and gluten free buccatini, along with a bottle of GF lager from Green's. The parm tasted amazing, one of the best I've had since I was a kid, before I was gluten free! Service and ambiance were up to the standards of Friedman's - polite, friendly, and helpful. The waiter seemed legitimately overjoyed to hear how happy I was with my meal.

Yelp
Serano's comes from the Friendmans team, and they have a nice selection of tasty Italian on their menu. Try their Fried Mozzarella (housemade mozzarella that's encrusted with sourdough breadcrumbs), the Upside Down Sicilian pie (prepared with mozzarella, tomatoes, pecorino, oregano, and sourdough breadcrumbs), the Vodka Sicilian pie (prpeared with vodka sauce, housemade mozzarella, and basil oil), and the Housemade Agnolotti (one of the chef's specials). We want to try the Eggplant Parm, and their paninis on the next visit! Staff were friendly, and orders were generous - pickup and delivery is available with an easy online ordering system. +Sicilian pies +friendly service +online ordering available

Yelp
We went for a Friday night dinner and had a great time. The service was helpful and pretty attentive given how busy it was. The space itself was large and not too loud. The food was excellent, we had the burrata and the Hot Louie pizza. The burrata was creamy and went well with the tomato's and greens it was served with. The pizza had a perfect crispy crust and airy interior that I loved. Overall would recommend and we'll be back to try more of the menu!

Yelp
The most gluten-free friendly restaurant in NYC! A 5 minute walk from Penn Station. This not so famous but should be restaurant is a dream come true for the gluten-free folks, like my daughter, and honestly, regular folks like me as well! We started with the gluten free breaded and fried calamari - unbelievably light batter. I ordered the gluten free gnocchi and it was like little pillows of heaven! And I added the chicken cutlet to go with it. My daughter had the gluten free pepperoni pizza - a nice Detroit style pizza. I had told the waitress when we walked in that it was my daughter's birthday. The restaurant sent out a gluten free tiramisu and Aperol Sprits - on the house! That's almost unheard of these days. I can't wait to go back. The table next to us ordered the gluten free breaded/fried zucchini and it looked absolutely amazing!

Yelp
Excellent meal from the wine to the olives to the caesar salad. Very authentic italian food. The pesto was very fresh as well. We had prosuitto panini and caprese. They were awesome. We visit NYC twice a year and will be back. Close to Penn Station too, go you will love this italian gem. Service was great too.

Yelp
Good but absurdly overpriced. Spaghetti is $20 plus $8 to add meatballs which is ridiculous. $20 for spaghetti and meatballs would be high but unfortunately reasonable for the area. $28 is silly. Unlikely to go back because of this.

Yelp
Excellent meal there last night. Seated at reservation time though restaurant was relatively full. Excellent service with soft background music. Many gluten free options. Reasonable prices and portion sizes. I will be back

Yelp
Gluten Free Nirvana!!! Tonight my family had the most incredible dining experience at Serano's, a cozy Italian restaurant that has been open less than a week. We were warmly greeted upon entering by Ruby, our server , who patiently guided us in our menu selections. Each dish outdid the one before... the mushroom pizza ( deep dish style) followed by lemon pasta that was al dente and a chicken parm that was perfecto...moist meat with crispy coating in just the right amount of homemade marinara. All of the above as well as a killer cheesecake and light as a feather tiramasu ,are the creations of Chef Linda who is ever present. Her kitchen ,as well as the waitstaff run with efficiency and attention to detail that is rarely seen anymore. Ruby wanted our feedback on each dish as did the manager and of course Chef Linda. They truly cared that we were enjoying each dish. It is hard to believe that every morsel we inhaled was gluten free and safe for my 8 year old granddaughter (recently diagnosed with celiac) to eat without worry. Congratulations to all involved in creating this gem of a gluten free restaurant!
