Saluhall, a New San Francisco Food Hall, Opens This Week | Bon Appétit

"A London market run by the same operator that demonstrates previous experience operating multi-vendor food halls and serves as a reference point for how the new downtown project might be managed and programmed." - ByBecky Duffett

Seven Dials Market Review - Covent Garden - London - The Infatuation

"Seven Dials Market is another food hall that’s full of pastel colours, familiar food stalls, and the overwhelming feeling that you’ve been here before. That’s because you probably have, just in a different guise. Monty’s Deli is here, and their reuben or matzo ball soup is always worth a shout, as are Yum Bun, whose bao are perfectly tasty. Those two aside, this place is full of food that isn’t as good as it should be, at restaurant prices. It certainly has a purpose at lunchtime, but anything beyond that is beyond us." - Jake Missing

Great place to go for many different options. It wasn’t too crowded to get a table on Easter Monday at 6pm! Water stations are useful and the service was friendly. It wasn’t too loud in the corner but some areas were a bit more chaotic. They have options for everyone - vegan, vegetarian, etc. They have a few dessert places which seemed nice. Great for casual food with a buzzing atmosphere - an ideal dinner or lunch option in the area.

Recommend going with a few people so you can try all different kinds of foods. Pad Thai was really nice, couldn’t stop eating it. The fried chicken from lucky hot chicken was really crispy and tender inside. Bao buns I would consider them a bit overpriced but on the whole still tasted amazing. All the food filled me up! Really delicious, and great day out in London!

Google
Biggest con: loud and overcrowded. Everything else was great! We someone snagged a table for our large 11-person group. We were the only one with kids. The food was really good - we got burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and sushi. All on-point and highly recommend. There is something for everyone here. There are bathrooms on the bottom floor which are decent. There is also a free water station on the first floor.

What an epic experience at the seven dials market. This place is heaven for foodies.. had soo many dishes and drinks and ended up missing out on so many other epic food stalls. I would highly recommend visiting this place a couple of times a day or week to get to 80% of it. All the food stall are very well maintained and serve delicious out of this world food. Staff were helpful with recommendations and keeping decorum. Appreciate the efforts and the market.

Great day out with the fam our first times coming here too - Food was good but pricey as expected! Definitely recommend luckys hot chicken the cajun wings were amazing! Steak was a bit overdone/very chewy, dumplings could’ve had more flavour too. Considering how busy it was we didn’t have to wait long for our food which was great. Plenty of seats outside too which was nice. Would recommend & will be coming back again soon!

Google
Lovely place with a great variety of restaurants in the food court. You’ll find diverse options including Nigerian, Chinese, Japanese, French, Mexican, and more — perfect if you want to explore different cuisines in one spot. We also discovered our first-ever cheese bar there, complete with a shinkansen — an amazing idea, especially for cheese lovers.

Google
This is an amazing place, with really good food and great staff. There is a lift to go down stairs (look for the pink box) we ate twice there. The sushi is hand made and done in front of you. The deep fried tiger prawns were wonderful. I had bao buns for lunch, and Jollof for dinner, i do recommend the peanut dusted spicy beef, which i dream of now. My daughter had sushi for lunch and pizza for dinner, she went back for another slice it was so good. I can't wait to go back!

We discovered this wonderful food complex by walking around Covenant garden. I was pleasantly surprised how good the food was. Matcha ice cream was so good. This place particularly great looking in the evening when all the fairy lights are completely visible

Yelp
Love this market! Stumbled upon here while visiting London and came back twice to try more places! Great energy and tons of variety of food: there's something for everyone here. Bar downstairs will deliver to any table using the QR code on the table. The cheese bar was a bit gimmicky with the cheeses coming around on a conveyer belt, but honestly a pretty fun way to try a variety of cheeses. The various pairings were excellent. 4/5 Chai guys is great. The classic masala chai is spicy and delicious. The creamy chai (started with a K) was also really, really good if you prefer slightly less spice. FYI they are small cups so 4.5/5 Jollof mama was so flavorful. I had the sweet potato and squash stew with jollof rice and it was sooo spicy and delicious. If you like some serious spice, get it. 5/5 Arnabeet the Syrian place upstairs has an excellent cauliflower wrap. 5/5

Yelp
Seven Dials Market food hall is a fun lunch destination for a group, because everyone can get what they want OR you can all try different spots and eat family style. My husband had the Kolkati stand (lamb roll, fries, and wings), and I had vegan Uzbek Dumplings. You can find food and drinks from so many different countries and cultures here, so if you're not sure what you want, just walk around once and then you'll be torn between multiple options. If you are vegetarian or vegan, you will find plenty of options. We visited on a weekday and an off hour in the afternoon, and seating was still hard to find. If you want to do the cheese conveyor belt, you should definitely reserve that in advance as it was full when we were there.

Yelp
The Seven Dials area is really neat with the actual food market and lots of shopping nearby. We were walking around and thought we'd stop by the market to look at what food options were available. It doesn't appear too big from the outside, but between the banana warehouse and cucumber alley, there are lots of options to pick from. There's a good amount of seating available downstairs. Grab yourself quick bite, hearty lunch, or a treat, and enjoy!
google avatar

Yelp
The Uzbek dumplings were great! Went back twice and found the restaurant to get airplane dumplings lol The Thai place was nice tasty The chai tea was amazing The pizza place was not as hygienic as it should have been (the cashier literally stopped scrubbing the floor with no gloves and then picked up a piece of pizza to warm and serve with No gloves when the guy working with her offered to do it- so gross - cancelled The bar staff was amazing drinks were tasty and the vibe was really good

Yelp
ials Market is a busy and bustling food court in London's Covent Garden. This market, housed in a historic 19th-century warehouse, is a popular destination for both locals and tourists, offering a wide variety of food and drink options. Seven Dials Market combines a variety of culinary delights under one roof. Seven Dials Market's interior is both contemporary and inviting, with an open floor plan that fosters a collaborative and energetic feel. Long communal tables and benches encourage socializing, making it ideal for both groups and individuals. In addition to the culinary options, there are many bars within the market providing artisan beers, drinks, and an enormous selection of wines, making it a fantastic destination. I decided to eat at Jollof Mama, which serves a variety of meals that highlight the rich flavors and spices of West African cuisine. The menu includes traditional foods including plantain, chicken suya, and goat curry, as well as the legendary Jollof rice, which is cooked with tomatoes, onions, and a spice combination. Jollof Mama's menu is aimed to give customers a true sense of West African street food, with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and robust tastes. I ordered the Suya Beef with Jollof Rice. The dish was tasty and aromatic, showcasing West Africa's rich culinary traditions. Suya is a popular West African street snack made from skewered and grilled meat, usually beef, marinated in "suya spice." The beef is grilled to perfection, yielding delicate, juicy slices with a delightfully browned surface. It is paired with Jollof rice, another popular West African meal. Jollof rice is colorful; it is frequently imbued with a deep crimson tint from tomatoes and is both savory and mildly sweet, with a hint of fire from the spices. Suya Beef and Jollof Rice work well together since they have similar textures and flavors. It's an excellent alternative for people wishing to sample the robust and adventurous flavors of West African food in Seven Dials Market.

Yelp
We were visiting family and they brought us to Seven Dials Market. We absolutely loved it, there are so many options for food and everything that I tried I thought was delicious. There's a bar with some good cocktails as well, and the vibes were fun and bustling! It's a little bit of a challenge finding a spot to sit but we were able to snag a table and it was smooth sailing from there!

Yelp
If your a foodie and your in London and you DON'T go here? Don't call yourself a foodie lol. If you've ever been to NYC in the summer time and visited smorgasburg, this is smorgasburg. Soooo many food options here. I loved the variety of food here. After doing a lap I settled for a chchicken kati roll and it was delicious. I must say though it did take atleast 10 minutes to get my food. On a Saturday the service can be slow since it's so busy. Also if you come on a Saturday or Sunday ymir probably going to have trouble getting a seat to eat. Plan ahead.

Yelp
Last summer when we were in London my daughter discovered the cheese conveyor belt at Seven Dials Market and begged to go. We couldn't find time for when they had a reservation, but when we made our way back a year later we booked it ahead of time. If you like cheese (who doesn't?) you'll be in heaven. So many delicious cheeses circle around your table. We tried most of them and I was very happy until I just couldn't eat anymore cheese. They have a few non cheese options like pickles (yum) and meat, but I would have loved to see some mini salads or other veggies. To be fair there are so many other little restaurants in Seven Dials Market that I could have easily found my veggies there. No wine for us since we had a lot say of shopping and shows ahead and I didn't want to get too sleepy, but that would have also complimented my cheese well. Next time!

Yelp
This is a fun place to visit especially if you have friends who like different things. I came twice recently and tried Kolkati and Yaay Yaay. The paneer roll was full of paneer with a bell pepper tomato kind of sauce. It also had a slight kick to it. The wrap was a naan bread of short. It was quite tasty. From Yaay Yaay, I got their prawn pad thai. I like that they give quite a few prawns. The pad thai was average. Service was prompt and friendly at both places. I would probably try something different next time.

Yelp
An old brick factory that has been converted into a drinking / hangout / smorgasbord of food offerings. Plenty of food vendor, great variety. Drinks for adults & kiddos. We found it to be a great clean spot to rest and eat after walking hours in the Seven Dials area. Music playing, very festive inside. Tons of decor. Definitely worth a stop.

Yelp
While visiting central London, we visited this market a couple of times. Think of it like the Garage Food Hall in downtown Indy but a little smaller. They have multiple food vendors to choose from - we personally sampled food the Cheese Bar, the Korean food place and the Indian food stall. I can't remember their actual names but we did not have a bad experience at all. The service received from vendors were good and most of all, I think price for food was reasonable considering the rate of currency exchange between US dollars and English pounds. Check them out if you ever find yourself in the neighborhood.

Yelp
This is a recommended place for all the tourist who wanted to visit Seven Dials Market. There's a massive selection of shops, also nice gallery where you can get some decent prints. It is a lovely walk with a lot of shops, pubs and eateries such as sushi, hotdogs, sweets, pastries, cheeses and more. Just a cute, fun area in central London.

Yelp
Great factory converted hang out offering a palethora of trendy drinks and eats! Went to meet up with a friend, and boy, was that a mistake! It was very crowded because the place is open longer than most of the stores in the surrounding area. It was incredibly lively, and it was not only hard to find another person in the crowds, but also took some time to find open seats! The offerings are priced typical for the area, if not more pricey than your average dive for sure. But after a long day of shopping and sightseeing in the area, a place close by to sit is a great relief. As busy as it was, it didn't take take long to get our food! Overall, it was a great experience and awesome food hall! I'm always up for food halls, and this one does not disappoint! Its original lighting and exposed brickwork makes me wonder what the place looked like before its conversion!

Yelp
The Seven Dials Market is a must visit when in London. It's located perfectly near the Covent Garden area, but easily accessible from anywhere in the city. While we stopped here for lunch, I know they are open for dinner as well. The market features two floors full of any type of restaurant and cuisine you can think of. Cuisines such as Mexican, Indian, Greek, Italian, Thai, Latin, American, and more can be found here. And yes, there's a bar. For my lunch, I ordered a chicken pita from Shuck. I selected the lunchbox option, which came with the pita and a small salad. It was absolutely delicious and mouth watering! My mother ordered the Latin fried chicken wings and fries. She loved her food as well. Another plus is that the toilets are free and clean. Also, tap water is free so make sure to fill up your reusable bottle. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Great food and the ambiance is fun and casual. We tried from various food places and they did not disappoint. Food must try here: -Oshpaz Dumplings: very fresh and tasty! The spicy beef dumpling was delicious. -Boolay Crepes: this was fun to try. I loved the crème brûlée, but the crepe gets slightly soggy. I would order it for the crème brûlée though. -Warehouse Bar: they have the best cider! This was amazing! -Club Mexicana: is a vegan-max fusion that is very tasty. I'm not a vegan but I enjoyed the tacos we ordered. Definitely must try! The markets in London are lovely and this one is a must stop if you visit.

Yelp
Hip spot with many food stalls inside. The venue is exceptionally clean and a nice calm place to stop in for a quick bite. There are a ton of food varieties to choose from (albeit not the cheapest options) and a bar you can accompany this with. Nicely located in the busy area so if you're looking for some respite worth taking a break here.
google avatar

Lucas W.

Yelp
Great indoor market with a good variety of food options, lots of the typical options from other street markets. The Indian food I got on the lower level was a bit more disappointing and lacked the spice or flavor intensity. The Thai food I got on the lower level was quite good though and really flavorful. Both were a little pricy given the area but I get it. They jammed a lot into a small space and it gets busy at peak times so you may very well find seating to be tough. It's almost like they could've taken some vendor stalls out to create a little more seating space, but I'm sure they wanted the maximum number of vendors.
google avatar

Jonathan C.

Yelp
A food court with a variety of different cuisines. I wouldn't necessarily call it a "tourist attraction" and would really only recommend it if you are in a large group where people can get what they want or if you are in the area. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to come here With that being said, they have a mixture of Western and Eastern cuisine. Seating is spacious, but can get a bit warm indoors.
google avatar

Michelle V.

Yelp
Great food selection and overall ambiance in this busy market! There's so many stalls that I bet it'd take a week of meals to go through everything. It's vast and the ceiling is gorgeous. There's an alley of more food called Cucumber Alley attached to the main building. I got dumplings at Oshpaz Uzbek and chai at Chaiguys. Luckily I was able to take a seat at the bar table at Chaiguys to people watch. The bathrooms are located downstairs. Watching people carry drinks up and down the stairway always made me nervous. I was unfortunately unable to try the cheese conveyor belt because the wait time was long. I'd love to come back with friends!
google avatar

Yelp
We came here for the boolay crepes and it is absolutely delicious! One of my favorite dessert in London. Creme brûlée in a crepe cone! Perfect way to eat it!
google avatar

Kristelle B.

Yelp
Went here on a Saturday night and it was overcrowded! Though I can see why people go here as I gravitated to have dinner here for the same reason--amazing food choices and ambience. There are so many food options to choose from. Those that stood out for me were the Filipino food, cheese conveyer belt, Thai food, the Latin America chicken burgers, and etc. I'm already planning a second trip next time I visit the city though hopefully at a less crowded time. I ended up going for Bongbong's Manila Kitchen and got their inihaw na liempo meal. I wanted to get the Manila cocktail drink but it was sold out for the day. Not the best liempo I've had though I appreciate the representation!
google avatar

Yelp
i love seven dials market as a casual hang out spot with friends! the food selection, though more limited than camden market, is nicely curated and the indoor seating is great for a cold or rainy day. unfortunately it can get quite busy during dinner time so it's tough getting a seat. it can also be loud, so not the best place if you're getting to know someone for the first time or want a long, intimate talk. i've been to club mexicana, which serves vegan burritos and burrito bowls; and shuk, the mediterannean place with pitas and shawarma platters. both were delicious. the shuk platter came with generous amount of silky hummus (some of the best tasting hummus i've had), but i wish there were more vegetables with it. it was also on the pricier side (compared to outdoor street food or camden market) at 13.50 gbp

Yelp
Seven Dials Market was a lovely lunch find in London. We stumbled upon it and I am so glad we went in. We were there around 1:30pm on a Thursday and it was not too crowded. We were able to easily find a place to sit. Curry On was great with my gluten allergy and substituted extra rice for the naan that was supposed to come with my food for free. No picture of food, but the serving size was just enough. I got the paneer butter masala and it was flavorful but not spicy. Food was very fresh and was prepared swiftly. I also got ice cream from Soft serve Society. They had their allergens clearly labeled and many gluten free options! Ice cream was delicious. Great ambiance and so many options at Seven Dials. Next time I'm in town I'll definitely make it a priority to come again!

Yelp
Great variety of food and drinks. Usually very busy. I tried yaay yaay restaurant and their curry and rice was so good. Decent prices too

Yelp
Great place to have some really good food all sorts of Instagram famous bites. Need to check this place out if ever around the area

Yelp
Really cool market! A lot of different cuisines. The market was packed. Very lively and full of people. It's really cool that it used to be a banana factory and they use that as part of their brand. Very unique.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a super cool place--in one of the most magical of London neighborhoods. It is the closest to feeling like Diagon Alley of anyplace I've been in London, and this "market" in the middle of it is a solid. It's mostly a hip food court, with a variety of choices to please just about everyone. I will be back!
google avatar

Asma A.

Yelp
Such a lovely market! Two floors of food options and plenty of variety. There was plenty of seating but it was hard to get a spot because it was so crowded. We had some pizza, burgers, and ice cream. All were fantastic. There's also a small area downstairs where you can grab a water glass or refill your bottle. Great little market in a cute neighborhood.

Yelp
Cheese! More Cheese!! And even More Cheese!!! Think sushi bar but replace the raw fish with every type of British Cheese you can think of plus plates of cheese you never knew existed. Small place, reservations are recommended.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this food hall.Tons of places to choose from. The ambiance is fun and lively. The food was absolutely delectable. We had an awesome time. Would definitely recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
What an awesome food hall! I highly recommend. There is something for everyone. Really lovely energy, communal tables. The best part is mixing and matching your meal and picking dishes from multiple food stalls. Great time. Great food. Perfect for families too.

Yelp
I love the food, the vibe and the historical significance of this building. We were in London last month and had a few bites at this market and I loved it so much! I loved the music, the food was fabulous (we had some indian, some baos, and some chicken katsu at various eateries- we couldn't decide on just one place so we sampled from a bunch. ) it is such a reflection of the diverse palate of London. We even stopped by the cheese conveyer belt. YUM. What a fun place. Did you know it once housed bananas, wall to wall bananas! Crates of green bananas were shipped from Central America and housed in this very building, stacked to the ceiling to be ripened under the glass roof. The first commercial refrigerated shipment of bananas arrived to London in 1902 , which was a surprise to most Brits. I mean can you imagine trying a new exotic fruit having never eaten anything but apples and berries? All around the seven dials area, there were houses of tropical fruits and were bought and sold at the exotic fruit exchange in nearby Covent Garden. HOw neat. Talk about a slice of history with your street eats.. A must for all .
google avatar

Vincent S.

Yelp
Very neat social media driven spot. It is a trendy food court essentially with a crowded atmosphere, a spot to take a picture with a giant banana. This is a cool spot to grab a quick bite if you have plans like a theatre show or something else to rush off to and you want something cool to go to that would get your food out quickly. Truly remarkable how many choices there were here.
google avatar

Bree N.

Yelp
Yum bun's fired chicken bao buns were AMAZING and the Mac and Cheese from Pollote was to die for. 10/10 recommend. Reasonably priced as well

Lena L.

Yelp
Lots of variety and extremely busy food hall. Great ambiance, but the vendors weren't so friendly. It was busy, so perhaps they were extremely tired and ready to call it a day. Worth a visit.
google avatar

Amy M.

Yelp
We had such a fun time visiting Seven dials market on our last trip. I loved getting to meet the locals and plethora of options there's soemthing for everyone! If I lived locally this would be one of my go to's.
google avatar

Lynsey H.

Yelp
I visited Seven Dials Market on Halloween to try their Halloween specials. I went for the pasta at Strozzapreti and it was to die for.. (see what I did there? Ha!) Moving on.. the spaghetti dish was amazing, a black spaghetti with garlic and green chillis, pumpkin purée dressed with flaked almonds and black olive powder. It was amazing! It came steaming hot and I didn't want the dish to end. Considering it was pasta, it tasted so light and I didn't feel bloated at all after finishing. Strozzapreti is the same people behind Franco Manca, so you know it is going to be good. For dessert my friend and I shared Oreo filled donuts from the Treats Club. Wow!! Bite into them and they are filled with a whole Oreo biscuit, add to that, chocolate sauce and marshmallow, they were so good. The donuts they had all looked so amazing! We felt entirely safe at SevenDials Market as it is all table service at present and you order everything via their app. It is an airy space and they do have outdoor seating as well. It is great as you and your friends can all order from different places depending on what you fancy. Just make sure you book a table before you go as it does get busy.
google avatar

Kevin B.

Yelp
Seven Dials Market is a wonderful indoor marketplace. There are dozens of stands serving up food and snacks and drinks and desserts from various cuisines around the world. There's a big central areas for sitting and eating which is always quite busy and buzzing. I usually come for takeaway and recommend Bong Bong's (Filipino) and Yaay Yaay (Thai), as well as Chai Guys for a tasty chai. Overall a fun place to get tasty eats!

Allan B.

Yelp
I had a decent slice of pizza downstairs and some decent Chicken Shawarma from the Israeli place next to the pizza booth. However, the prices were just a bit higher for the food and beer when you compare it to the pricing of surrounding restaurants in town. It was worth the experience of going, but I would recommend eating light here and then saving room for a heavier dinner at somewhere like Doomis or The Barbary.

Stanley S.

Yelp
This place was so cool we came here twice to visit two different stands. I believe it is a collective dedicated to minority owned businesses and a genius concept on the Covent Garden/Soho border. There are perhaps fifteen to twenty different options here offering some very unique cuisines/tastes. There is an upstairs and downstairs with not over-powering indie music playing in the background. There are also some traditional flavors available also and a bar serving liquor. It is hipster heaven and we saw very few older people. It is the kind of place you cam meet up with your mates and graze on the vaired cuisines with no hassle. There are long individual/community tables as well as high tops close to the stalls. I wish we had more of these type locations in the US other than the BoxiParks (I think there will be something similar being built nearby soon)which are basically outdoors. The location is very conducive to friends hangout and reminds me of a modern day version of German beerhalls. Indeed a very cool place.
google avatar

Matt G.

Yelp
Basically a food court on two floors. There is one place with different kinds of cheese moving around on a conveyor belt. Downstairs pizza, pasta, fish and chips and more. But some outrageous prices, £9 for an arepa! Did it fly first class here from Venezuela? Otherwise a nice space for quick meals. There is a book store inside where you can eat also.
google avatar

Sofia D.

Yelp
A new indoor food market in Convent Garden across from Neil's Yard. They have 13 diverse independent food and drink traders. Sometimes when you're in a big city it's hard to decide where you want to eat. Especially, if you're traveling with others who have different tastes. These food halls offer a variety of different cuisines which makes it very convenient and affordable. Upstairs they have Big Shot Coffee & Donuts(espresso & specialty coffees, sweet and savory donuts) , Monty's Jewish Deli(salt beef, latkes, reubens), Claw (lobsters rolls), Club Mexicana( vegan) Square Roots( soda bar) you can take a sear at Pick & Cheese if you love cheese and wine. Choose from a conveyer belt of different cheeses. Downstairs they have Nanaban(ramen), Yin (Chinese comfort food), INK (fried seafood), Truffle (for their 7dials burger that has 7 cuts of meat) , Yum Bun(bao buns), Strozapetti( pasta),El Pollote( Venezuelan fried chicken) A lot of these places do serve alcohol like beer & wine if you like and if not there is also Kerb Bar. (Full Bar) I've tried to give you the main things, but of course they offer more dishes on their menus. There's just too many things to name that you will have to go see for yourself. Take your time and walk around before you choose. Hang out for hours at the bars, order small and share from different places. I haven't tried all the food stands. I'm sure there are Hits & Misses. I give 4 stars for its affordability, versatility, & convenience. Perfect for rainy days!

Yelp
Great place to stop for lunch! Kind of odd that they don't open until noon on Sunday in such a busy area--I'm sure people would be lining up at 10:30 am--but I can respect that Londoners seem to appreciate their time outside of work a bit more (something we should do more of in the USA really). Lots of options. I left a separate review of Yum Bun but the other place I tried, Yin, doesn't have a solo listing. I ordered the mushroom roll and it was just... awful. Mushy and flavorless, drenched in soy sauce. Yum Bun I gave 4/5 and I feel like many other places would be great, so if you're able to get over here give it a try!
