Seventh Son - Review - Tsim Sha Tsui - Hong Kong - The Infatuation

"Seventh Son is a high-end Cantonese restaurant located in a mall in Tsim Sha Tsui with life-changing crispy pork belly. The execution of this dish is near flawless—juice seeps out of the meat with the faintest touch of your chopsticks, while the skin feels like porky sandpaper and cracks and crunches as you bite into it. This is just one example of how good the Cantonese dishes are here—there’s also the famous crispy chicken (which lives up to its name) and plump shrimp seared and covered in XO sauce. It’s very much a special occasion spot, with lots of white tablecloths and attentive service, and in terms of high-end Cantonese restaurants, it’s hard to do better in all of Hong Kong. video credit: Carlo Mantuano Pause Unmute" - Carlo Mantuano

The 38 Best Restaurants in Hong Kong | Eater

"For a taste of classic, high‐end Cantonese cooking, you can’t go past Seventh Son. The restaurant may only be a few years old, but the recipes and techniques reflect generations of tradition. Pre‐order the suckling pig if you’re part of a large group. [$$$]" - Janice Leung Hayes

Suckling pig had good flavor and skin was really crisp. Roast goose was a little bit dry but skin was nice and crisp. The chicken was 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 Expensive meal so be prepared. There are other more economical options that offer the same high quality food.

Beautiful evening at Seventh Son Restaurant, a very nice place for a group gathering in Tsim Sha Tsui. There is a wide variety to choose from, offering appetizers, poultry, fresh seafood, and rice/noodle options. You can opt for their tasting menu for small group couples. We tried so many different dishes that we lost track of them all. All the food arrived quickly, and the highlight of the meal was Seventh Son's famous crispy chicken, known for its crispy and non-greasy skin, as well as tender and juicy meat. Another favorite of mine was the sizzling Stewed Oysters Pot with Scallions and Ginger, which had a burst of umami flavor without being overly salty. The baked stuffed crab had a perfect crunch, revealing a creamy interior filled with fresh crab meat. Lastly, we ended with Fried Rice wrapped in Lotus Leaf! Overall, it was a good Chinese fine dining experience in the area!

Seventh Son Restaurant is a high-class restaurant that specializes in traditional Cantonese dishes. Its newly opened Kowloon branch is very spacious with a high ceiling. The restaurant is bright and well ventilated. Servers are professional, attentive and accommodating. Corkage is set reasonably at HK$200/btl. Although on the expensive side, food is of good quality. Highly recommend the crispy Suckling Pig with Hand-Shredded Meat, the soft Fried Egg dimsum, and the superb Sea Cucumber with Pigeon Eggs.

Overrated and over-priced. We have pre-ordered our menu for 12 persons. The suckling pig was not crispy. 大良野雞卷was overly marinated with rose wine and all pieces are of different sizes. The Pomelo skin was over cooked and more salty than the baked salted chicken. The fried egg white with crab meat was also heavily salted. So salty that I thought the crab was cooked in sea water. Yet the vegetables with crab meat could only taste the ginger taste. Can tell the chef has used lots of ginger and thus the ginger taste covered the crab meat. The bird nest soup was worst. So salty and, i think, it's heavily seasoned with MSG. My tongue was numbed till next day and I have to drink a coke to balance out. (If you were sensitive in MSG like me then you will understand). On the whole, the appetizers can pass but they failed almost all the mains. The desserts are ok but on the sweet side. For service, I was quite shocked to be told that they ran out of sesame rolls, which was pre set in our menu, that they had to give us some walnut biscuits. First, how can it be sold out as our menu was set? Second, they offered 6 sesame rolls and 6 walnuts biscuits. Seriously, why couldn't they offer us 12 pieces of walnuts biscuits? As not everyone noticed we only got 6 biscuits, they just crapped one piece of both dishes. At the end, 5 of us needed to share the last biscuits. The whole bill was hkd25000. For this price, i would expect a better quality of food and higher standard of service. For that service and quality of food, definitely overrated and over-priced.

Surprisingly terrible? I’m confused. Genuinely. It’s not good. Service was like a fast food joint. I don’t get it. Place looks ok. Got bamboo pith with crab and pigeon egg. Very sour. Got lotus leaf rice - good texture. Flavor was salty and flat. No aroma. Got another dish and can’t even remember. Went yesterday. Spent over $200usd for 3 ppl.

Yummy and traditional Cantonese cuisine. Some are seldom tried as they are handmade dishes. Not much Chinese restaurant is able to cook these dishes, even in Hong Kong. Nice service and environment. We ordered set dinner as portion is perfectly fit 2 people.

We had dim sum lunch with some out of town friends. Presentation of the food was above average as one would expect of a high end restaurant, but quality of food was really so so. The only things they do well are fried food like spring rolls, fried wonton and 咸水角. Everything else was very sub par. We got very dry roast goose and piglets that tasted like overnight reheats, had 生煎包 that contained only cabbage, lotus leaf wrapped rice with chicken that had no chicken, etc etc. Definitely an overpriced rip off restaurant I would not recommend to anyone.
