Sexy Beans - Review - Culver City - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"It might sound like something you’d come across in a strip club with an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet, but Sexy Beans is where you’ll find some of the best Brazilian food in Culver City. It's a ghost kitchen right around the corner from the Fox Hills mall that offers pickup or delivery service anywhere in West LA. They make excellent feijoada, and their juicy rotisserie chicken has crispy skin that tastes like it's been seasoned by a generous poultry god. This spot is a great weeknight dinner spot, especially if you order ahead so you can skip the line at their pick-up window." - Nikko Duren

LA’s Most Exciting Brazilian Food Can Be Found in a Cloud Kitchen - Eater LA

"Sexy Beans, opened last month in the Culver City Cuisine ghost kitchen space on Selmaraine Drive, offering Brazilian rotisserie chicken, picanha plates, and feijoada for pick-up, delivery, or takeout orders. For first-time restaurateur and chef Simoni Siqueira, the stall that she runs along with her husband, Greg Johnson, in the narrow hallways lined with other cloud kitchens has provided an opportunity for the animated, enthusiastic Afro-Brazilian chef to learn the ropes of the restaurant business before she takes on a permanent, standalone location." - Bill Esparza

Google
FINALLY! An amazing Brazilian restaurant that does it RIGHT! My wife and I have been searching for food like this for years in Los Angeles, to no avail. This food is as good as it gets. The food is authentic, and clearly made with love and care. We tried it on a whim while driving through Culver City, and it has now become my weekly and often times daily go-to for great food. What started with a curious impulse has now become a culinary obsession for my wife and myself. Beef, chicken, vegetarian, chili, and sandwiches are all unbelievably tasty, fresh and fun. Needless to say, we will be back again and again.

Google
Dynamite Brazilian food served up at this popular ghost kitchen hub in Culver City. The rotisserie chicken is the bomb--moist, succulent, smoky meat bathed in an herbaceous redolence. And superb black beans, packing a wallop in their balance and depth of flavor. I want to also give a shout out to Greg Johnson--one of the co-owners of this establishment, along with his wife--who was exceedingly kind and gracious in ensuring that my experience at his restaurant met (and in fact, exceeded) my expectations. This restaurant merits great and continued success, as does its proprietor.

Google
I'm from Brasil and have been in the US for 11 years now. I've had the privilege of going through 45 states (so far) and every time I travel I try to find Brazilian food (which to me, obviously, is the best one). Of all the Brazilian food I've eaten here, this is definitely on my top 3!!!! The rice, bean, farofa, collard greens and vinagrete combination tasted like home, like lunch with the whole family at grandma's house, like coming from school and going straight to the kitchen for lunch. The meats were excellent, but I can live without them if I have rice, beans, farofa, collard greens and vinagrete. If you have the chance, do yourself a favor and taste Brasil in LA💚💛

Google
Really good food. But the pickup location, a ghost kitchen almost directly underneath the I405/Marina Fwy interchange, is in a very parking challenged location on a very narrow street, and with all those people picking up to go meals it can be a problem. Food was a little expensive, but given the quality and the inflation rate I won't complain (except for the side dishes like the rice, which seemed particularly overpriced or undersized).

Google
Ok let me just say-- I lived in Brazil for six months and have been searching all over LA for food that even slightly compares to the food in Brazil. Well, Sexy Beans has THE BEST comida brasileira (brazilian food) that tastes just like the real thing!!! :) other places might specialize in other Brazilian cuisine BUT this place does real Pratos Especiais (special plates) the way it needs to be done!! I mean literally- the BEANS are Unbelievably delicious!! I've not found it's equal anywhere in the states. It might even be BETTER than what I tried in Brazil itself... and that was amazing already!! But....This recipe though... it's marvelous!! :)))) the feijão/feijoada (beans), the picanha (special Brazilian steak), the frango (chicken)!!! I love it all so much and crave it all the time!!! :))) Since they opened (only a couple of weeks ago) I've ordered it four different times already ;)) I truly have deep cravings for those beans and that steak!!! :))) Thanks so much everyone at Sexy Beans for being the most authentic and delicious that I've found :))) and please be prepared for me to order from y'all *at least* once a week :)))

Google
I drove 30 minutes to get there and the chef/owner would not accept my Groupon worth $50 in SEXY BEANS Food. He would not come out and me to tell me why and made the counter guy tell me it was denied . Super Weak. We eat Brazilian food 3-4 times a month, as there are Brazilians in our family .

Google
I got the chicken salad sandwich and the picanha. Everything was fresh, quality ingredients and a really good value (in my opinion) I want to go back and try the rest of the menu. Need to try the sexy beans

Truth Seeker

Google
I purchased a Groupon deal and tried to place orders. However, the ordering button is greyed out by saying that "ORDERING NOT AVAILABLE". I also tried to email and call the owner, but no answers. If the business is temporary closed, don't try to sell deals on Groupon. It just wastes everyone's time and effort. :(

Yelp
I got some steak and beans and loved the steak. I can't remember the beans really, but I did like them. I need to try them again and order more. I got delivery via Postmates. I also got rice!

Yelp
I ordered the picanha steak with the black bean chili and the rotisserie chicken. The steak was off the off chain, and the chicken was fantabulous. The chili had marvelous flavor and was well-seasoned. I noticed that there wasn't anywhere to sit. I snuck around back and found a spot with a table and two chairs. Definitely a good place for some decent grub.

Yelp
The rotisserie chicken sandwich from Sexy Beans was a delicious twist on the average regular smegular chicken salad. It was bold and spicy and just perfectly seasoned! I got to sample it thru the OTM app and I'm glad that I redeemed it. Will for sure be back to try other things from the menu as I love Brazilian food!

Yelp
This past Monday, wife and I discovered this spot on yelp. We proceeded to place an order, picture below, order confirmed, delivery on its way. Yay! Lets get ready to eat. Except, when the food was delivered, we only had the 2 chicken plates, and the rest of the order was missing. Call the driver several times (uber eats), no answer, call the restaurant, got an answer, was told owner will call me back. Greg called me within 15 minutes and was so quick to offer us an apology, guaranteed that the food was packed and given to the driver, and wanted to make up for it, even though they didn't have to. Basically told me to call or text for our next meal, and he'll take care of us. Awesome. We ate the chicken that was delivered, and man! That was goooooooooodddd! So not only was the food great, but the attention to detail and customer satisfaction was exemplary. 2 days later, today, we decided to take Greg up on his offer. Texted him initially and called him later, to find out later that he was on a flight and couldn't respond. His wife, Simoni, called me instead and was aware of the situation. She also offered several apologies and wanted to make it right. She basically gave us our original order for free due to the mishap. I haven't even left my parking spot to write this review, because, well, it is just such a shock to receive this kind of service and I want to give them the credit they undoubtedly deserve. This bag of their amazing food smells so good, I might just starting picking at it on my drive. Let me tell you, even if it wasn't about the food, Greg and Simoni won a customer for life. And it doesn't hurt that the food is so "mouth-watering-ly" delicious. You can feel the love they put in their craft. Check them out! Amazing! Thank you guys!

Yelp
Staying at the Hilton Culver City for the first time, I opened my trusty Yelp app to find dinner. I'm a picky foodie that opts for local businesses over chains. Sexy beans? Interesting. Brazilian. Good reviews. Score. After fumbling across several streets, I finally found the "restaurant" down an alley. It's not a restaurant. My bad for not reading more carefully. One picnic table around the side. No chairs. It's designed for Uber Eats, Door Dash, pickup, etc. You're obviously meant to wait in your car. You can order on an iPad at a window. OK, just roll with it. I ordered a Picanha, beans and rice plate, and sat down on the curb to wait. I carried my order across the street to the mall food court to have a place to sit, and unveiled my food. Very visually appealing. The steak was medium rare and juicy. The beans were perfect, with good bits of meat in them. I had greens, onion, tomato and pepper to put on my rice (along with that steak juice!) So here's my verdict; it wasn't OK. It wasn't good. It wasn't great. It was next level awesome! Everything was hot and wonderfully flavorful. The excellent reviews are well earned. 4 stars for making an old man sit on the ground for 20 minutes. A few chairs would be most welcome.

Yelp
There's a problem with Sexy Beans, it is that is TOO delicious. Our first experience was off the charts, the steak was heavenly, the beans were INSANE, the level of tastiness of this food is just beyond. But here's what happened: we were in another Brazilian restaurant last Sunday and the food was so subpar that my husband decided that he was not going to eat anything and instead he was going to drive all the way to Sexy Beans, this man was salivating, dreaming obsessing having taste hallucinations and ordered well in advance to be able to pick up on time. We park in there and the time is almost up on his app, just for pick up. But no notification pick up. I had ordered churros from a different restaurant in the same complex, and it was ready to pick up, so I asked about his order. And they they told me: "Sexy Beans is gone." WHAT?? It shows it's open, I said, it's accepting orders, the time is almost up, we have been waiting for close to an hour! And all we got was someone through a locker window saying they are "no longer here, I don't know where they went and I don't know why you were able to order it." Then he either cancelled the order or it cancelled itself, and told us to cancel it as well. I asked the facility man to please explain to the hungry bear of my husband what had happened, he agreed, so my husband went inside for another 10 min or so but nobody came out or explained anything from the facility. That was that. So going back to the beginning, the problem is that this food is too delicious, and it makes you crave it and after you try it you'll find other Brazilian food in LA subpar. But for something to be truly game changing, they need to be reliable, and when your late lunch never comes and they are gone from the facility, the frustration is epic, we were traumatized. Dreams of picanha shattered! Now we are just waiting for the day they open again and hoping that their business / managing facility lives up to the high level of the food. What a disappointment, we were expecting food for such a long time and got no proper communication informing us it would never come. (We love you tho' sorry for holding that star back )

Yelp
Previous Sexy Beans food experience were good but inconvenient as there was no way to use Groupon unless ordering in person at the door, with no way to apply Groupon with advance order either online or on the phone since it's a ghost kitchen. The 1/4 chicken plate was flavorful but dry and rice was slightly undercooked; the picanha was also good and again, rice undercooked. Farola was forgettable. I am very frustrated with their complete lack of customer service today. When I tried to use another Groupon that expires today, they wouldn't take the order at the door, and ghost kitchen front door insisted I had to order online or pay extra for delivery, neither option allowing for Groupon use. I had several back-and-forth conversations about this and Sexy Beans employee would not come to door to discuss viable options to use the Groupon, and sent the owner's business card. I called the telephone listed and it went straight to anonymous voicemail so I left voicemail with details but never got a return call. I ended getting Groupon refunds for 2 vouchers for this business and do not recommend anyone getting food here.

Yelp
Some of the best food you'll find in Los Angeles. A must try. You won't go wrong with whatever you order, but the Sexy Beans with meat is my favorite. I drove 45 minutes each way for this fabulous food.

Yelp
8/5/2022 update: The owners of Sexy Beans reached out to me personally. They told me they presented my review to the cloud kitchen facility management and the management is working to resolve the delayed pickup issue! That was the whole intention of my original review, so I am really happy to hear that! Now nothing is going to stop me from ordering from my favorite restaurant every night. Try their picanha, beans, and greens - they are fantastic, really. Original review: ---------------- Don't get me wrong - the food here deserves like 6 stars. I got my delivery once from here and blown away, so placed a second order - pick up this time - in a week. But the cloud kitchen facility this restaurant is operating in seriously needs to get their xxxx together. I am giving 4 stars just to get attention - I hope the tenants of the facility push the facility to fix its operation. Again food here is amazing!!! I went to the facility to pick up my order and there were 30 people lined up on the street, delivery drivers and pick up customers like myself, just to get to the pick up counter. There was one person working at the pick up counter, handing food from 19 restaurants to the people lined up, one by one, extremely slowly. I waited 30 minutes in line to just get to the pick up counter. When I got to the counter, the cashier told me that my food is not actually ready (?) although UberEats has been saying it is ready for pick up for 15 mins, and told me to use a different website to check the "genuine" status of my order(???). I waited for 30 mins only to hear that. Then, this new website showed that my order is actually not ready (???) and I have to wait more (????). At this point, I talked to the UberEats to cancel my order and headed home. UberEats told me if I wait further they will give me 20% discount. No. I needed to go home because I was not even given ETD. For the 3-40 people who were waiting to pick up their order from 19 different restaurants operating in the facility (to be clear, their orders were all "ready for pick up" on their apps. They were not waiting for the food to be cooked.), it was a massive waste of time. I just wasted 40 mins, but what about delivery drivers and their time?! This facility needs to hire at least two people at the pick up counter at busy hours AND have the actual status is updated to the original app the order was placed on. Tenants of the cloud kitchen facility, including Sexy Beans - please push the facility to get their xxxx together. Sorry I had to cancel my order today.

Yelp
Best Brazilian beans ever! I love it! It's so hard to find a good Brazilian food in the US... Obrigada por essa comida deliciosa!

Yelp
Wow...I ordered the picanha and rotisserie chicken meal on Postmates. What a flavor explosion!!! Everything was outstanding! Pricing is also fair...I will for sure order from here again!

Yelp
Maybe I came on an off day. I'd say it's a 3.5 rounded up to a 4. It was definitely not bad, but I had higher hopes based on the reviews. First, the location is definitely sketchy (fine in daytime), but I expected that given that it's a Delivery-centric cloud kitchen. I did expect better parking though. Ordering through yelp, the confirmation email provides an estimated pick up time. Maybe it's a glitch, but the pick up time on the email was immediate. Of course, it wasn't actually ready when I got there. More importantly, the food: - Pincanha: ordered Medium, but it was well done. Also, there were a few tough pieces in there. Regardless, the actual flavor was still excellent. I'm wiling to try again just so I can try it cooked to the level I prefer. - beans and chili combo. It was fine, but not sure I would order again. I had higher hopes. - side salad. Again, it was fine but not noteworthy Will probably try one more time, just based on the potential of the picanha.

Yelp
Food is delicious. I just wish they would get my order right. All the time is something wrong or missing.

Yelp
So my son and his girlfriend tried Sexy Beans last week and told me it was really good. So tonight I tried it. I will agree the feijoada is definitely sexy, almost to the point of being x-rated they're so good. The chicken was moist and flavorful and the picanha was tender and a perfect medium rare. The farofa was the first one I've ever liked! Bravo to the chef!
google avatar

Elisabeth S.

Yelp
The chicken here is out of this world! Seriously authentic Brazilian food that tastes like you're in Rio de Janiero. Also, the chef, Simoni is super lovely and truly loves what she does...which is very apparent.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
Overall the food was delicious. They did, however. Overcook the meat. I asked for MR and it came done. Luckily it was still juicy and tasty. The Texas chili, fire!!! I definitely recommend. The big gripe I have is all of the extra charges/fees. Not a Fan. To clear up the extra charge and fees, I mean from the delivery service. I felt it is excessive

Yelp
Support this excellent Black female owned joint with delicious food. Pinha, chicken, rice, beans, all delicious!

Katherine D.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious!! The food tastes authentically Brazilian! It's hard to get good black beans or more Caribbean leaning beans in LA! These were absolutely delicious! The picahña was perfectly cooked as well! Definitely going to be a regular at Sexy Bean!

Yelp
This is not so much a restaurant as a pickup location. Togo only. I had the picanha sandwich and it was delicious but the onions were a bit undercooked. Definitely worth picking up if you are in the area.

Paul F.

Yelp
Our family has tried Sexy Beans three times. Once we picked up the food and twice had the food delivered. We had the pichana medium rare all three times and it was cooked just right each time, great taste and soft as butter. We've tried the Texas chili, black beans and vegetarian beans. Our favorite is the black beans, though all three were really good. The Texas chili has a little heat, but I'd hardly call it too spicy. (I don't like hot/spicy food.) Tonight we tried the roast chicken and it did not disappoint. Order some rice and salad or greens (add the mushrooms) and a side of farofa and you're good to go. This is a really nice addition to our neighborhood. There are other Brazilian spots we like, too, but the menus are different so now we have more great spots to choose from.

Curtis B.

Yelp
Having lived in Brazil for two years I was really excited for this one. And the food is decent. I was however shocked to see the place built specifically around food deliveries failed to give us any utensils at all. In addition they had no options for Brazilian desserts or cheese bread. The rice and beans were spot on and the meat was pretty decent as well. The picanha you could use a bit more of a touch of salt. Would recommend or try again as I can see they are trying to improve.
google avatar

Alex J.

Yelp
As someone who has never eaten Brazilian cuisine before I was pleasantly surprised when I ordered a pichana plate. Firstly, the pichana was delicious and was a great bang for your buck order. In just a normal plate I felt that I got a great portion of meat. Secondly, the beans are wonderful. They live up to their name of being quite sexy. I will absolutely be ordering again.
google avatar

Antonio N.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! Superbly authentic Brazilian food prepared by Brazilian chefs. The feijoada, couve, farofa and picanha were delicious. This place is a must for take out.
google avatar

Shihao L.

Yelp
Its really not as good as we expected. My order was 19.9 but didnt taste very good. Its normal or you can call it very normal.

Esther M.

Yelp
Wow. Amazing food. Ordered for 6, and we are all beyond satisfied. Food is great, super tasty, and definitely something made with love, you can tell. We ordered a little bit of everything, couldn't have been better. You won't be disappointed, thank me later :) A+

Bill H.

Yelp
Went to a catered dinner and Simon was terrific. The food was perfect and all enjoyed it very much. A big thank you.

Thorsten T.

Yelp
I've been searching for brazilian food since I moved from Germany to LA and I was so happy when my best friend recommended me sexy beans. As a food lover I of course tried almost everything they have on the menu and I gotta tell ya their food is soo delicious. The rotisserie chicken is their thing. It's never dry, always juicy and full of flavor. It makes me happy when I'm eating sexy beans, especially the Feijoada that has the exactly same taste as the one I use to eat at my favorite restaurant when I'm in vacation in Rio. Everything tasting on point. Great food and service!!!

Max J.

Yelp
The best Brazilian food you will find in all of LA! Great food run by great people. If you're looking for some new food to try your first thought should be Sexy Beans!

Earl J.

Yelp
Out of all the new places I have eaten in 2022 this is my number 1. I have been Sexy Beans 3 times so far and they have never disappointed. Everything top notch from the cooking of the steak and the seasoning of the sides. You guys gotta make it your food is way to good

Stephen G.

Yelp
Really good food. But the ghost kitchen location, on a narrow street almost underneath the 405/Marina Fwy interchange, has very little parking and there are lots of cars coming and going to pick up from the various kitchens inside. Expensive, but given the food quality and the inflation rate I'm OK with the prices. Except for the sides, like the rice, which really seemed to cost too much given the portion size.

Vania S.

Yelp
I'm adding an updated review and definetely giving them 5 stars. They have surpassed my expectation. Great customer service! They gave me the opportunity to try the dish again and personally delivered the food to my place. Plus, they threw in some extra Brazilian things for us to try. So generous! I can say that this was the best customer service I've ever experienced. The food was great this time! The beans were cooked at the flavor and the picanha was super tender (I decided to try the picanha instead of the chicken this time). I haven't had a good picanha in a long time!

J M.

Yelp
Great food, very tasty and reasonable prices. Two comments for future. I ordered medium rare and the steak was very well done and the person worked front desk was not friendly.

Ronaldo D.

Yelp
This is by far the best Brazilian food I ever had. The picanha was amazing, and the black bean is simply the best. I will order again FOR SURE!!!

Nailah H.

Yelp
I stumbled across this place using the OTM app. I didn't have any expectations because I was just excited to redeem my free food coupon. But listen... this was the best chicken salad sandwich I've ever had. Seasoned perfectly, just enough spice. I didn't know chicken salad could be so flavorful. I wish I took a picture before I devoured the whole thing It was huge!! My tummy is happy. I can't wait to go back and try something else!!

Sarah S.

Yelp
BEANS baby BEANS! I was SO pleased with the service, the food, the good natured ribbing I got for accidentally butt calling the owner -- twice! But here's the deal, it's the REAL deal for Brazilian black bean stew. I ordered the platters of both the vegan and the meat beans just to taste test first; owner Greg and I went back and forth with questions and info because I wanted to see if the food would work for a brunch party I was organizing, needing info about gluten to accommodate one of my friends. He stuck with me till the answers all matched (!) and what I did (you don't have to) is combine the TWO beans together to make a single batch of really yummy food. Hey they're beans! That's healthy you know! And until now I have never liked collard greens but I LOVE these. The vinaigrette (I liken it to a non-saucy salsa), with the farofa and the rice -- well this was one heckuva delicious brunch! AND Simoni delivered it herself! Saving me almost an hour of back and forth driving to do the pick up on a busy morning. I'm giving you 10 stars! But Yelp only allows 5...

David S.

Yelp
Stupendously good Brazilian food created in this Culver City ghost kitchen. Everything that I ate was delicious! The picanha was well-seasoned and cooked perfectly and satisfied my craving for some red meat. But, the rotisserie chicken and black beans were the dual stars of the show, as far as I am concerned. The chicken was beautifully marinated and succulent, and had a lingering herbaceous quality of deliciousness. Moist meat and smoky redolence, paired perfectly with the superb--dare I say, sexy--black beans, packed with a powerhouse punch of flavor, and big chunks of smoky-salty pork cubes. I called to place my order, and Raiza helped me to ensure that my order came out perfectly to my liking. She was very helpful and kind on our phone chat, and it was very clear that she puts her heart and soul into this business. Someone to get behind and support her business, particularly when the rewards include a delicious plate of food!

Grace Y.

Yelp
The real deal. Finally! Good Brazilian food in LA! Everything was delicious - the feijoada, the Brazilian style collards (a fave of mine!) and the farofa (yucca). Sooo good!

Brett C.

Yelp

Tristin W.

Yelp
new favorite rotisserie chicken! the sides were delicious as well and balanced the meal out nicely. our delivery order arrived warm and well packed, but now I want to visit in person to get the full experience!
