"Tucked into the narrow hallways of the Culver City Cuisine ghost kitchen on Selmaraine Drive, I discovered Sexy Beans, a newcomer to LA’s Brazilian scene run by chef Simoni Siqueira and her husband, Greg Johnson. The menu centers on medium-rare picanha and a marinated galeto na brasa roasted on a rotisserie tucked into a corner of the crowded kitchen, offered for pickup, delivery, or takeout; the meats are best enjoyed in a combo with the beans-and-rice plate that comes with vinagrete and farofa. The signature “sexy beans” are a feijoada packed with salt-cured cuts of pork, sausage, and carne seca (with a vegetarian version available), and Siqueira sources meat from a local company to approximate the traditional smoked and salt-cured flavors since a specialty Brazilian butcher is thousands of miles away. She also serves salads, a picanha sandwich, and fusion plates like Brazil Loves Texas (a 50/50 blend of feijoada and Texas-style chili) and the Slop Joey (her Sloppy Joe riff). Operating in a cloud kitchen has let the animated, enthusiastic Afro-Brazilian chef learn the ropes without risking large capital outlay, and the facility even provides online pickup ordering without the exorbitant fees of delivery apps as she prepares for a future standalone restaurant." - Bill Esparza
