The Best Cocktail Bars in Palm Springs, According to Eater Editors | Eater LA

"Next door to the iconic Mr. Lyons is Seymour’s cocktail bar. Like its steakhouse sister spot, it has plenty of style, with vintage decor and an outdoor fireplace lounge area. This is the place for adventurous drinkers who trust the process of a skilled bartender with thoughtful wine selections, classic drinks, and more modern inventions in a glass with unique ingredients like the Bijou with Fords Gin, Green Chartreuse, Carpano Antica vermouth, and orange bitters." - Mona Holmes

The 25 Best Restaurants & Bars In Palm Springs - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"It wasn’t long ago that finding a great cocktail in Palm Springs required having either a dinner reservation or someone in your vacation rental with bartending experience. But that’s changed—and Seymour’s is the best proof yet. This dark, semi-secret bar (hidden inside Mr. Lyons behind a black curtain by the bathrooms) goes all-in on Old Hollywood aesthetics with hand-drawn portraits on the walls, secluded sitting areas, and a gold-tinted bar with black and white movies projected behind it. Still, the draw here is the cocktails, which are strong, straightforward, and classic. Order the Vesper." - brant cox

"This speakeasy-style cocktail den occupies a hidden space inside the steakhouse, Mr. Lyons (ask the host to point you in the right direction). Once inside, it’s easy for forget what decade it is. There are vintage photographs lining the walls, antique velvet seating, and even a black-and-white tv to set the retro mood. The whole thing is wonderfully old school, and a quiet place for a nightcap—try the Oaxacan Brunch, made with Gem & Bolt mezcal, lime juice, sage-infused simple syrup, and egg white."

Josh and Erica made the most delicious craft cocktails and had the most warm and inviting energy. I’m so happy we got to have a cocktail made by them and chat with them as they ended their night, it felt like talking to an old friend! Thank you for making our anniversary so special! - Andrea y Rado

Google
A little hidden gem found inside Mr Lyons. Creative cocktails, music, indoor bar seating available or cozy up at the outdoor fire area. Only drinks served at Seymour’s, perfect stop to enjoy before or after dinner drinks.

Google
Truly my favorite hidden spot in Palm Springs. The atmosphere is perfect. We were lucky enough to have Erica as our bartender two years in a row while visiting at Christmas. Her skill and artistry is unmatched. We enjoyed our delicious cocktails, lovely conversation and overall feeling of being welcomed. Thank you Erica and Seymour’s for a wonderful time again. Service 5/5 Atmosphere 5/5

Google
Super cool speakeasy-esque bar. The one entrance is hidden behind a curtain, very cool vibes inside. Drinks were amazing, a great spot to have one or two, but definitely not an all night spot. Have to recommend the Dutch Passports they were excellent!!

Greg Rowen

Google
A cool back room cocktail bar, hidden behind a curtain in Mr Lyons Steakhouse. All craft cocktails, original and classic. Grate vibe inside and out. Big patio with a fire pit and a bocce court. Great place to go.

Damien Kennedy

Google
We attended the cocktail making class here as part of modernism week. Fantastic experience. Awesome hosts, the food was on point and cocktails were suitably impressive. You will leave suitably happy and well educated in some aspects of cocktail making!

Google
Super cool speakeasy. My bartender was Joshua and he was so cool. He's a bartending nerd all the way and will talk about cocktails all night. If you like real craft cocktails with ultimate attention to detail, you NEED to stop here.

Google
Fun spot to stop in before dinner. Great, friendly service. Quaint bar, just what you want in a modern speakeasy.

Yelp
Very nice speakeasy spot in the Mr. Lyons steakhouse. Stopped by after dinner at Mr. Lyons as it was my last night from out of town. There was seating at the bar and additional seating inside and outside patio. The scenery was dark with dimmed lighting. The bartenders (2 that night) were busy but very courteous. I ordered a lemon drop martini and it was really good.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and drinks. Super friendly bar tender. One of my fav speakeasy establishments in town

Yelp
Service was slow. The ambiance is great, especially the outdoor patio with the fire pit, but we ended up standing in line to get our drinks at the bar. This place could use some servers and more staff.

Yelp
This speakeasy inside of Mr. Lyons is a great spot to start your evening. The cocktails are good and the dark vibe makes it special. We had great service, too. It's tiny so expect to wait for a spot if you come at prime time. Ask the hostess at Mr. Lyons where to go so you don't end up just at the ordinary bar and can instead experience this hidden treasure.
google avatar

Yelp
Popped in after dinner in a Friday hoping it wouldn't be too busy. Luckily our group of 4 was able to get a table with just a few minutes wait. The interior was very intimate - definitely a good date night spot. The outdoor patio looked nice as well, but that's for another time when it's not so hot out. Everyone got something different - wine, beer, and an old fashioned, and I got the Northern Elixir off their cocktail menu. My husband said the old fashioned was good, and I enjoyed my drink as well. Service was good, but not great. She didn't check on us until we were about done; however, she was friendly. Overall, a great after dinner experience, and I would return!

Yelp
Seymour's has been on my list for a while; how extremely fortunate we visited when we did, as (who I'll describe as) "Master Mixologist" Erica was behind the bar (with assistant, Jade)! Erica is perhaps the most passionate and skilled bartender we've experienced; her enthusiasm in creating custom cocktails is infectious... and we delighted in being able to sample her creations, which were both attractive and tasty! As first-timers, Erica knows how to make one feel valued and special -- even as the crowd grew in this dimly-lit, intimate bar. Thinking that we'd be in for just a drink or two, can't believe we stayed as long as we did, enjoying more drinks than planned as well as the fun energy among the other guests that evening! Definitely a favorite spot; we're now going to be regulars when in the desert. My concern (as Yelpers who gave low ratings have reported) is highly anticipating a visit only to find it closed. Fun and wonderful find!

Yelp
This place is amazing! The bartenders are experienced and solid, the drinks are tasty. Come here and enjoy! BUT, avoid the restaurant here (Mr Lyons). Sketchy, pretentious, and not really that good. Special shout out to Parker, our mixologist. He's professional, talented, and on point. We will be back specifically because of him!

Yelp
Cocktails are fantastic! Pretty small but a very cool vibe! If you like speakeasy's it's a must when in Palm Springs!!

Denise J.

Yelp
Chose to plan a surprise trip for my husband in Palm Springs because we love Seymour's. Nothing on the site earlier this week about it being closed tonight. Beyond upset and disappointed to find out it's closed for a private event tonight upon arrival. You need to allow reservations to avoid things like this from happening. So upsetting.

Bree A.

Yelp
We love coming to Seymour's - PJ and John are the best bartenders in town! World class service. PJ always gets us to try new drinks, and they always become our new favorites.
google avatar

Yelp
Fabulous little speakeasy in Palm Springs. We both had the bartender choose and we enjoyed both drinks. My mocktail was fabulous. We enjoyed the music, the vibe, and the overall relaxing ambiance. Definitely will be back on our next trip!

Yelp
An amazing speakeasy in Palm Springs located inside of Mr. Lyons steakhouse. The space is cozy and intimate and dimly lit. Drinks are A+ made by esteemed mixologists. Definitely a must when in the desert.

William W.

Yelp
Erica was stellar on eve of 2/13 especially considering she was the only person on staff w/a full bar that had a constant flow of people coming in. She never stopped working and entertaining. We were more stressed for her than she ever let on. Answering the "what's that drink" many times w/patience and humor. We were thrilled with how great the drinks were. She deserves a raise (and some backup staff) We will be back for some Erica love very soon.

Juliette F.

Yelp
Erica is hands down the best bartender I've ever had. I'm from OC and plan on driving back just to get her drinks. She has skills that are beyond impeccable.
google avatar

Raymond B.

Yelp
If you try hard enough, you can tease s good cocktail out of the bartender. Fun to try to stump the bartender with a drink he or she has no idea how to make. You can have fun by pulling a cocktail name out of the air and see whar happens.worth trying.

Yelp
We visited Seymour's twice during our COVID getaway in Palm Springs. Both times for just cocktails and a snack. We are pescatarian/vegetarian so the appetizer menu was perfect for us. We have tried the hamachi crudo, and shrimp cocktail, the Sidecar, Vodka Martini, a New York Sour and a Little Owl. The hamachi crudo and shrimp cocktail were amazing. The shrimp were massive and so well seasoned! And the sidecar was the best I have ever had. And the New York Sour and the Little Owl were perfect. Keep in mind we are big cocktail drinkers. We make them at home and make it a point to visit the best cocktail places in any town in visit. You will not be disappointed. This place was sensational.

Steph S.

Yelp
Lovely, small but top notch service. Hidden behind heavy velvet curtains is this intimate space with beautiful seating. Enjoyed some nice bourbon after a delicious meal in Mr Lyons. Worth a visit!
google avatar

Stephanie E.

Yelp
It wasn't a speakeasy but more of a back room behind a curtain. We didn't stay. It was crowded and not particularly special.

Yelp
Visited Seymour's on a quick weekend getaway to Palm Springs. Had high hopes for this place, as it looked like a cozy little hidden speakeasy style bar. We called ahead to see what the wait would be and told we could be seated right away. However, when we showed up and talked to someone else, they said it would be at least a half hour. So we waited in the waiting area and after 15 minutes another hostess asked what we were waiting for and said we could just go ahead into Seymour's. Sort of a confusing way to start, but not a big deal, as we were in no rush. The bar area was quite crowded, but we found a little spot in the corner to hang. It was easy to get the attention of a bartender and order drinks. I tried a cocktail called a Scarlet Simian, which sounded like a take on the flavors or a negroni and maybe a last word. It certainly wasn't that and had a much more spirit forward ethanol flavor than expected. My partner had a Oaxcan Hemingway, which was tasty, even for a mezcal drink. It was a little noisy and crowded inside so we sat outside next to the fire pit, which was nice, but didn't have a ton of ambiance. Overall, it didn't live up to the expectations we had that night. I could see on a quieter weeknight and maybe a more classic cocktail order, it could be a great cozy spot for a drink.
google avatar

Carson C.

Yelp
Cool location and atmosphere, but the service is slow and the drinks are nasty! If you like drinks that taste like the smell of an outhouse, the "Drink Differently" drink is perfect! The earthy / yogurt-like texture was off-putting. There was a group of us, and out of all drinks, we sent 2 of them back. Unfortunately they still charged us for them. Not good service.
google avatar

Thomas W.

Yelp
Great service, food, drinks and experience. Recommend and hope to be back soon. Go for a special occasion if you can
google avatar

Jacob B.

Yelp
This was an amazing experience. The bar is a great speak-easy type with a hidden door on the side of the restaurant - or you can enter through Mr Lyons. The dark interior was great for a luxury night out - it was very cozy with knowledgable bartenders. The quality of the drinks was top notch, and one of the best restaurants in Palm Springs. The night we went, it was rainy outside, so the patio was closed. We are excited to go back when it's better weather so we can sit outside.
google avatar

W B.

Yelp
Alright...such a cool place! The bar and the bartenders are just so cool. The movie running in black and white, the cool lighting, the great music--the total vibe is as good as it gets in a bar environment. And the drinks are outstanding. The care and concern showed by the bartenders is awesome. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. Highly recommend!!
google avatar

Eric B.

Yelp
We were very excited to get to Seymour's. We had been trying on several occasion, but they've been closed for private events or just not open, and their phone has been disconnected, so we've had to go there to see if we could get in. On a positive note, the decor is great, but now that we finally had the chance, it ended up being one of the worst experiences at a bar in Palm Springs over the last year. It didn't help that the bar then got crowded, apparently being used as a waiting spot for Mr Lyons. Our waitress barely made eye contact with us, and 20 minutes after finishing our drink we finally had to shout as her back was turned to us for the check. We were hoping to give another shot at classic cocktails after our first round weren't great, but no chance we'll be coming back for another round.
google avatar

Renee B.

Yelp
Enjoyed the bar before dinner. A perfect old fashioned and espresso martini. We love the vintage, classic vibe
google avatar

Dan M.

Yelp
We've tried to like Seymour's, on several occasions. But we always leave disappointed. Came by for a post-dinner drink (after dinner at Mr Lyons), with 4 people, and tried to get seats at the bar. We were told by the staff that the empty seat at the bar that we needed was "taken" by someone who went home to "walk his dog, but he'll be back." Seriously? No help on where we could sit, etc. Of course, we just left. So many options in Palm Springs with welcoming service, this place is never worth the let down. How does this place stay open?
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
Mixed feelings writing this review. Seymour's is so great, and seems like a secret(which would be great to stay that way), but ultimately, the staff is so nice and the cocktails are so excellent that it would be wrong for me not to post. Bartender Josh is hands down on of the best cocktail makers I have crossed, and is just a super nice dude. I asked for a cocktail that was not on the menu, and rather than pushing me to one of their cocktails on the menu(which are also delicious), he built it for me and made sure I liked it. I worked in the service industry for 6 years or so and it is rare that you come across someone who is kind and super knowledge/skilled. Outdoor area is great, fire pit is cozy. Always a pleasure walking in when we are in town. Will probably visit on every upcoming trip. Thank you Seymour's!

Yelp
Well I returned to this amazing speakeasy after the great memories it gave me from my first visit. To a great surprise it was the same bartender from my first experience. Well let me tell you they exceeded my expectations again. Now they have this sweet and very knowledgeable waitress, Jade who made our night so amazing!! It was a very busy night and difficult to get to the bar and she came and took our orders and was very attentive. It really gave us the opportunity to relax and enjoy! And back to the bartenders Josh and Parker all I have to say is if your in Palm Springs it's a must for the best cocktails in the Valley!!
google avatar

Jeffrey Y.

Yelp
I can't recommend this place. A "speakeasy" that serves alcohol without even appetizer or small plate options is a host liability at best, or a recipe for date rape at best. If you are staying in one of the nearby hotels and want to walk to somewhere to escape the accomodations noise, order a rideshare instead. For the price of the offerings, the service should be impeccable. This was lackluster. I left unserved and unimpressed.
google avatar

Janette W.

Yelp
Loved the speakeasy vibe going on here and it's very cute. As a former cocktail columnist, I've had my share of drinks. So my friend and I were very surprised that the drinks we ordered were so strong, we were not able to finish them! I'm looking forward to going back and trying something else on the menu.
google avatar

Fern L.

Yelp
Cool bar with nice outdoor patio as well. The fire pit was nice on a cooler April night. Wasn't too busy on a Saturday night, probably due to Coachella happening. I got a dirty martini and it was excellent. Nice vibes overall.

Sae L.

Yelp
Overrated drinks with low quality spirits. You also can tell the manager is inexperienced and her leadership shows with the staff. Watch out for the bartender. He's got a lip and has a lot to say. Recommend other places in town.
google avatar

Colton S.

Yelp
Just a perfect bar. Fantastic drinks, great bartenders (Josh & Dave are solid dudes), and an overall awesome vibe. We love smaller bars with a really well curated cocktail menu - so this was a great find in Palm Springs. Probably my favorite tiki drink I've ever had as well
google avatar

David G.

Yelp
I was in town for a wedding and was here for an event. We pulled up and was asked if we wanted Valet parking. We said no but where should we park. The rude and ignorant response was "I do not know where to park but move your car" Thanks for all the help. The bartenders seem to have the same attitude-been a long time since I have had this poor treatment. AVOID ALL COSTS
google avatar

Janet B.

Yelp
Excellent cocktails with very helpful and knowledgeable bartenders. Great atmosphere.
google avatar

Clive J.

Yelp
Cleverly tucked inside Mr. Lyon's Steakhouse is this 'speakeasy' style cocktail bar. A nice menu of well-adapted signagure cocktails in addition to making whatever your heart desires. All done with precsion and flair. Great atmosphere. We try to visit whenever we're in Palm Springs.
google avatar

Josh C.

Yelp
Great ambiance, staff and environment. Bartenders are kind and knowledgeable. A must go to when in Palm Springs.
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite cocktail bars in Palm Springs! This bar is adjacent to Mr. Lyons Steakhouse. My favorite drink here is Thyme after Thyme. If you love mezcal based drinks, I highly recommend it. They have a dark interior, but also an exterior patio area. The patio area has bocce ball and corn hole. My favorite bartender here is Zane. He is super kind and friendly. If you ever need a drink recommendation, he's happy to help. If I'm in the area, I'll definitely swing by again! Cheers!

Eleni A.

Yelp
OBSESSED! We're renting out Seymour's for our wedding after party in April so we decided to check it out while visiting from NY this week. Beyond impressed, coming from basically the mixology capital of the world, our bartender (I'm completely blanking on his name, but that's because we enjoyed his cocktails so much lol) made us amazing cocktails from an inventive and unique cocktail list. Super impressed. He was also personable, lovely and super attentive. We could tell he was passionate about providing great cocktails and service. We're always skeptical of the use of the word speakeasy because in NYC it's overused but Seymour's was it! Unassuming curtain on the opposite side of the restaurant takes you into a perfectly decorated bar with dEcor that takes you back in time (obviously before i was alive). The interior was intimate and on the smaller size giving it that true hidden feel. That said, there's a door to a huge outdoor area with a fireplace and ample seating. We're extremely excited to have our wedding after party here, our guests will definitely be impressed by the service, cocktails and vibe.
google avatar

Teresa P.

Yelp
Seymour's is a really cool speakeasy it's very reminiscent of something that you might find in New York. I really love the vibe at Seymore's the drinks are delicious and the bartenders and Cocktail servers make you feel welcomed.
google avatar

Stephen S.

Yelp
Seymour's is awesome. Definitely stop in when you visit Palm Springs if you like fantastic drinks and great service. My husband had the Northern Elixir and I had the Man in the Yellow Hat. They were fantastic and i hope we can return and visit Seymour's again sometime soon.

Douglas V.

Yelp
Speakeasy bar, low volume, chill atmosphere, and great drinks. I asked the bartender to make a drink for that included equal parts of bourbon & rye plus whatever else he wanted to add. I have no idea what went into the cocktail but it was delicious. Can't wait to visit again
google avatar

Antonio A.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best bars in Palm Springs; not only is the decor out of this world but the service is amazing. Whether it's your first or 20th time going to Seymour's, Zane and friends will make you feel right at home. Zane and his little black book have a drink for every occasion. The highlight of my experience came when my pregnant girlfriend and I dropped in for a birthday cocktail. Without even asking he immediately whipped up a non alcoholic 'mock tail' so my girlfriend could partake in the festivities. A definite place to stop by for a drink if in Palm Springs!
google avatar

Kevin N.

Yelp
There's a hidden hot spot and artisanal bar tucked inside Mr. Lyons steakhouse in Palm Springs. I'm so glad I found it! It probably accommodates 20 people with the bar and seating area. You can access the hideaway Seymour's from the parking lot on the side entrance or walk behind the heavy curtain from Mr. Lyons pub area. When I entered, I felt like I just found the coolest spot in town. The atmosphere is dark and early Seventies inspired, the cocktails are very interesting and decently priced, and the vibe is young, hip, and fun. They play vintage black and white cartoons and movies on the video screen behind the bar. I went two nights in a row because I liked it so much. The Kikori Crusta I had on my first visit with Japanese whisky, Napoleon Mandarin cognac and absinthe was the last thing I remembered that night. It was delicious, but deadly. The second night, I scaled it back and ordered the Oaxacan Brunch with mezcal, lime juice and egg white which was a richer, creamier, arty margarita. As we walked into the bar on the second night, a fun group of four started hitting on us. We didn't enter before a friendly, intoxicated woman shared a glimpse of her bare gorgeous derrière with me. I don't know how much longer this place will stay hidden, but both nights we found seating. It's really fun. I highly recommend it.
google avatar

Brooke L.

Yelp
Superior cocktails for sure. I wish we could be here during non-COVID times because it would be wonderful to sit in this incredible little bar and sip great drinks all night. That being said - they did a great job with their outdoor dinning option. There was proper space between tables, masks being worn, and it felt safe. We got the Little Owl, Jungle Bird, and Trinidad Sour - all good. The Little Owl was our favorite. We also got some food - the burger was very good, and steak frites was cooked well but the peppercorn sauce was a little off. The service was super gracious, but alas the food a bit slow. Overall good place and would go again.
google avatar

Garrett N.

Yelp
Beautiful setting both indoor and outdoor - great mixologist-based drinks in what sure looks and feels like a traditional speakeasy. A great mix of locals and tourists makes this joint lively and fun and I therefore highly recommend a visit.

Angela T.

Yelp
This place is so fun! Beautiful bar, really nice and talented bartenders, and a great outdoor space. We went on a Thursday early (6:45)and it was a little quiet but would be the perfect place/time to take a larger group. The outdoor space even has a bocce ball court! We had two cocktails each, all with Mezcal. Our first was a version of the Hemingway daiquiri, but with mezcal instead of the gin. Excellent. The second round held our favorite cocktail of the night! I think it was called the El Diablo... the key ingredient that we liked was the habanero honey syrup. The perfect amount of heat and light sweetness mixed together.
google avatar

Jonathan S.

Yelp
We loved our experience with Seymour's / F10 Creative. Hosted our post wedding brunch there and all of our guests were thrilled with the service and quality of the food there. Great attention to detail in the menu and the venue had a lovely outdoor space for hosting. Bocce ball, shaded areas, large enough to accommodate a large contingent of the wedding guests. Terrific experience!

Margaret L.

Yelp
Came here with my girlfriends. Loved the whole vibe of the bar. Our bartender Dave (the guy with the tattoos lol) is great and very knowledgeable on different cocktails. He was also great on coming up with cocktails off the menu if you wanted a specific spirit. Don't forget to try the new menu and tip your bartender.
