The 14 Best Restaurants in Carrollton | Eater Dallas

"Shinwari karahi, a mutton and chicken karahi dish, is the specialty and namesake of the restaurant. It is best eaten with fresh naan, dipped into the spicy gravy. And the Afghan Kabuli pulao, topped with sweet carrot slivers and plump raisins, is not to be missed." - Didi Paterno

We recently visited their Lewisville location and had a wonderful experience. The ambience is warm and inviting, the service is excellent, and the food is absolutely delicious- definitely worth the drive. A quick tip: make a reservation if you’re coming from far, as they stay very busy and we saw some guests turned away because they couldn’t be accommodated. That said, they are every bit worth your time, drive, and money. Highly recommended!

You will LOVE this food!!! Nestled in Castle Hills it’s conveniently located off Parker Rd - so easily accessible! It’s a small place with some seating but the bulk of folks were taking out/to go! It’s traditional Afghani food- packed with flavor, texture, and served in a generous quantity! You MUST try the Karahi- (Goat or Chicken - can’t go wrong at all ) it’s REALLY really good!!! Pair that with the soft, fluffy, Afghani naan with the sesame seeds- oof! TooOoooo Good!! Their grilled items were amazing as well- perfectly charred (not burnt) and surprisingly not too spicy as well. The service was great - quick and friendly! They also cater for parties small or large and overall their prices were pretty reasonable! I can totally see this be a regular pick up spot for us!

Food was ok. Way too oily and not enough seasoning. The Chicken Karahi was too sweet, not spicy at all. The Chicken Tikka was not cooked well too soft in the middle. The naan was huge but bland.. just needs more flavor all around. Server never asked if we needed anything else. And why does a restaurant that charges premium prices have Great Value water I’ll never understand.

Had lunch today with friends at Shinwari, and we ordered their Signature Shinwari Goat Karahi and Double platter - Grilled (mix skewers). The food was really nice, after long time enjoyed the kababs here at some restaurant The afghani Naans is must try.

Phenomenal food! It's a small place, but bigger than their old location. It gets busy during the peak meal hours, so come early, limited seating, especially if your a group of 4 or larger. The service was limited, but hopefully they will work the wrinkles out with time. The grilled meats and the goat Karahi was definitely the showcase for the evening.

Shinwari Kitchen is a hidden gem for anyone craving authentic Pakistani flavors. We tried the Malai Boti and Shinwari Karahi—both were incredibly fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The naan was hot and crispy, the perfect pairing. Service was top-notch, and the owner, Awais, was friendly and welcoming, adding a personal touch to the experience. Highly recommend this spot for a delicious and satisfying meal. Will definitely be back!
