After spending the majority of the afternoon boating, my friends and our kids decided to grab dinner at Shipwreck Cove, after all we were docked at Elm Hill Marina and it was very convenient.
We were seated under a covered patio, but the seating was a bit crammed. I guess because we had kids, we couldn't sit indoors (the bar area) and it was raining, so we couldn't sit out in the open outside.
There's a good range of food items on the menu, more so that what you'd expect from a restaurant on the lake. I ordered Fried Pickles for the table and they were decent. Nothing to write home about. Crispy batter, warm, tangy pickles on the inside with a nice helping of ranch.
My kids wanted wings (plain) and Mark's Famous Wings come in an 8-count for $10. Kind of steep, but the wings were cooked very well. Crispy outside, juicy on the inside. Because my kids didn't want any sauce on them, I got the traditional buffalo on the side. The wings were very large too, so that's another plus. These were probably the best item that we ordered.
I ordered the Fish Tacos, which came in a 3 count. They were served with slaw and some kind of mustard-y sauce. That created an odd flavor and the size of the fillets were somewhat small too. I didn't care for them as much as other places I've been to. I will likely not get the fish tacos again here (if I return).
Overall, the dining experience here was just OK. There's plenty of restaurants on Percy Priest. I'm not saying I won't return, but I'll give all the other ones a try before I come back here. There's more to a restaurant than convenience.
