SHUCKERS OYSTER BAR

In Seattle to take an Alaskan cruise and Found this place close to our hotel. A beautifully decorated restaurant, it looks like it was once an old steakhouse. We arrived early and was given one of the best seats in the house by a window. I ordered a Manhattan and it was Very good. We started with appetizers, I had the crab gratin and my wife had a half dozen oysters. . The crab dish was absolutely perfect. Served with large crackers. The oysters were very good as well. I then had the special of the day, King Salmon. Cooked at a very high temp it was perfectly cooked, cooked have been seasoned a little more. My wife had the lasagna and said it was very good. I then had the black and cobbler for dessert that was very flavorful. Service was excellent. Excellent dinner.

5-stars! Truly exceptional food. Fantastic at their specialty: oysters. You MUST try the smoked oysters if they have them!!! They are soo tasty (of course, only if you like the Smokey flavor). They offer oysters several different ways: fresh, smoked, and baked (baked is done three different ways). I also enjoyed my black cod with the lemon sauce and couscous, and baked sourdough loaf. Mmmmmm good. The apple crumble was okay. The service was impeccable. I really appreciate the ambience and that they serve wine out of the bottle rather than only bringing you a pre-poured glass.

Food: I had terrible luck finding a good oyster place in Seattle. I figured I must be missing something. Then I found Shuckers and feel like I need to look no further (but Salt + Iron in Edmonds is also dang good!) Ambiance: Being downtown, it's understandable that it's a bit tight, but the old building and the decorations make it feel homey. Service: Top notch, can't say much more than that!

We came here for Christmas Eve lunch and what a treat! First off, our server was incredible. Five star service from the moment we got seated through the end of our meal. We did the prefix menu and planned to share it with my 8yo knowing he wouldn't finish his own. The server ended up giving him complimentary child portions of everything aside from the entree. So kind! This review is long overdue and have forgotten the specifics of what we ate. Here's what I recall: Starters: clam chowder and wild rice salad. Both delicious. Clam chowder was the perfect consistency. Salad was unique and the right amount of savory and a tad earthy. Table bread was good (and warm) and I had to stop myself so I wouldn't get full from it. Entree: Prime rib. I asked for medium rare and it was cooked correctly. The sides (green beans and mashed potatoes) were cooked well and accompanied the prime rib. Basic sides that they didn't over complicate. Dessert: Crème brulee with a ginger snap cookie. So delicious! Server brought my mom complimentary cup of coffee. Check this place out. Love that it's upscale service and dining yet very humble and comfortable.

This place is outstanding for service and seafood! Tired from all my walking around, I stumbled into the Fairmont Hotel. What a gem this restaurant is. Feels like CHEERS! Had a great gem salad with shrimps added on (suggested by my waiter). Then got to enjoy clam chowder and baked oysters (served 3 diff ways). Their sourdough bread and butter were stellar! I seriously enjoyed myself here - IMMENSELY!

Oysters were so delicious very well clean, and the fresh shredded horseradish was delightful Mignonette was made with reduced port! Yelena my server was amazing ! Jhelena amazing server I would come back just for her!

Just had dinner for our Anniversary, and our experience was fantastic. The ambiance is wonderful, and the phrase that comes to mind is cozy, in an updated old school setting. The food was excellent also; the scallops were very fresh, and lightly seasoned. My wife loved her salmon, and the Caesar salad was great as well.

We made a reservation 20 min before we got there as we were having drinks upstairs. Service was amazing and quick! They answered questions for us and were very kind. I had the baked oysters and my best friend had the lobster mac. We also ordered the French bread.. that might have been the STAR of the show! Get the bread you won't regret it!

Shuckers was my favourite place out of all the meals I had on my recent Seattle trip. Everything was delicious. They have a rotating fresh sheet and scallops were recommended by the server that night and they did not disappoint. Perfectly cooked and seasoned and they were about 1.5in in diameter. The fish came with 4 and was just under $50. The mash potatoes were perfectly creamy and I dare say one of the best and most memorable dishes I have ever had. So for the staple, fresh oysters, they were fresh but sizes were small. At that price point, I wouldn't order them. Also the Manila clams were excellent but you can get something similar elsewhere. The prawn cocktail was amazing. The prawn looked like king prawn and very fresh tasting. The calamari was unique and not deep fried. The broth was a bit spicy and amazing. I chose to dip the bread in that over the broth that came with the clams. Another star of the night was the fish and chips. Probably one of the best I've had. The fish was crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside. The shoestring fries were so crispy. This is a pricey place but worth it for a memorable meal.

Chris is my favorite waiter. I love the food here. I bit pricey. But you certainly get what you pay for here. I try to go, at least, once a month.

Staff is incredible! They ran out of ousters and momma called all of the places near by to get us a table! They ended up finding some and so we didn't end up leaving, I never write reviews... its that good

I thought this was the very best of the various Seattle restaurants we tried both in food quality and service. The service is top notch, the fresh oysters were very tasty as described by the server, and the ambiance is old school classy. I would love to return here again!

An excellent evening dining with friends at this long time favorite in the downtown Seattle area. Ambiance was warm and inviting. Service was impeccable. The 4 varieties of oysters on the half shell were fresh and delicious! Seafood entrees of Cioppino, jumbo scallops and black cod were also fresh as well as delicious! They were either accompanied with mashed potatoes, polenta, and crispy sauteed brussel sprouts. Our group of five tried all of the 4 desserts available to us. All very delicious! We look forward to another wonderful dinner in the future here.

This place is tired and need a total renovation. You can literally see the grime on the tin ceilings. The furniture is old and the chairs have sagging cushions. Since everyone is so chunky, the tables are jammed in together and you're getting bumped as people walk by. The food is fresh and clearly great ingredients, but the recipes are basic. Seems a shame the rest of the hotel has been updated, but this place is stuck in the 70s.

Our group of five had a fabulous dinner at Shuckers. We were staying next door at the W and decided to try Shuckers after spending the day on Bainbridge Island. We stopped in to inquire about availability and the dress code as were in shorts and t-shirts. Mama immediately took care of us. She said she would have a table for us in 20 minutes and that we could come as we were but we decided to run next door to quickly change. She immediately sat us as soon as we got back to the restaurant. We had the baked oysters, scallops and the cioppino along with our cocktails. The scallops were the best we ever had! Service was impeccable and we loved the ambience with the dark wood bar and scroll work. But ... mama makes the restaurant. She is a true gem! She made us feel like family! We had such a good time and dinner. My college grad was saying how sad it was she was too old to color anymore and mama brought her a coloring sheet and crayons. The next morning, we woke to find that mama left us a sweet note and a coloring sheet of her own at our hotel. Again, mama is epic and the food and ambiance are pretty awesome too.

We came here on a Friday at 6:30pm and were seated immediately for a party of two. We made reservations online beforehand and I would recommend you do the same because it can get pretty busy during rush hour. This place has an old-school vibe to it with its decor. I ordered the salmon ($44) and we also got a dozen oysters ($44) to share. The oysters were good and I really liked the cocktail sauce but not all of them were the same size so some were way meatier than others. The salmon was good and I liked the skin. I liked the mashed potatoes but the green beans were just okay. The portions were pretty small and it was only a small piece of salmon and wasn't super filling. For drinks I ordered the black manhattan ($17) which was very strong and good. The server asked if we wanted bread and we said yes. We assumed it was complimentary but we found out when we got the check that it was $5 per person ($10 total for one small loaf of bread). I was not a fan of the shadiness of them adding that to our bill without telling us, and if we had known it was not free we probably wouldn't have gotten it. Overall I was expecting great food with the higher prices but it was closer to average. On top of that the bread situation felt very slimy and left a bad taste in my mouth.

Phenomenon sea food, great service. My husband didn't like his oysters and they understood and took care of us. Great quality and knowledge of seafood! A great date night place.

We loved it. Got a last minute reservation just in case for dinner It wasn't super busy at 7:30 on a Wed The ambiance is old school but clean and comfortable The service was helpful and friendly The food. One had the salmon and two of us had the halibut. Hands down the best halibut we've ever had. Such a simple but amazing preparation We had the accompanying veg and added the special salad too Terrific!

Doris Recommended. Sits on a corner of a busy street. Wooden walls, dark colors and dimmed lighting greet you as you enter through the front doors. Attire seemed to be business casual but others dressed down. The waiter couldn't be bothered but was always listening, if he shown some sort of interest his tip would have been more. Our drinks were at our table quickly and he made sure to check on us when he deemed fit. He also rearranged our table so that our food fit better and I appreciated that. Our espresso martinis were delicious! You guys know... we love them. You can tell by the color these ones were yummy and made with care not as great as Rosebuds in Chicago but could have been a distant cousin. The fish was fresh, really all the seafood was exceptional; presented well as seen below. I do recommend. In and out... totally did not take a long time and had reservations available. We walked so cannot comment on parking. Oh one thing I noticed- the soap in the woman's bathroom was dial but in a very expensive bottle. After the pandemic I was glad to smell the dial, trust me Haha Anyways go and enjoy, next time I go I think grabbing a spot at the bar would be fun. Enjoy!

This restaurant was amazing!! I went with my friends to try some new eats and one of my friends recommended this place! This was my first time trying oysters and I was not disappointed. The oysters were very fresh and delicious and came with several toppings. The fish board offered several seafood options for your main course and I tried the salmon which has been perfectly cooked! If you are in Seattle this is a must try!

Old. Glamorous. One of kind. Unique. Ornate Antique Wood. The place is Beautiful! Top Things to Order: Crab Cakes - lots of crab... LOTS Scallops - Simply savory! OMG the highlight of the entire meal. NY Strip wasn't really worth it though. 1 this isn't a steakhouse & 2 don't expect much if you decide to order one (for the price) Service was Outstanding! Excellent Service!!

Killer oysters. Killer service... Down to earth professional staff. Lee, Casey and Jim.... And then I met the new GM, Luke. I wondered why the vibration was so sensational... He's the Manager and also a professional chef. I was here 6 months ago just by chance and it the vibe was much different. Not trying to say anything bad about 6months ago, but this experience was much much different. It was fun. And I want fun when I go out. It's high end Phenomenal cuisine without the snottyness. All pro killer restaurant vets who know what to say and when to make your dining experience the one you have been looking for. Crab cakes. 1.5 inches thick. And not some bum sh!t. Dungeness with light on the sauce so you actually taste the entree. Folks... If you are from Seattle... I don't need to say anymore. If you are from out of town? I went there and had what they call cioppino... it was terrible.. not sure where they got the recipe from.. And once more for a city like Seattle that seats right on the Pacific Ocean.. Seafood WAY OVER PRICED..

Really enjoyed this meal. Super good seafood and loved every bite. The waiter was super nice too. Don't pass this spot it is a must try when in Seattle.

There may be several reasons why you're looking for a classy evening out and looking for a a place on yelp. Perhaps you're needing some nibbles and drinks prior to the symphony or a show in downtown? Well, look no further. Shuckers has been a staple in my books for many years and I just love the service here. When ordering a bottle of bubbles, they keep such a watchful eye on your glass not becoming empty. Located below the Fairmont Olympic hotel, the decor is old school steakhouse - oh so classy! I love the ambiance so! Just take a look at this lovely alcove they have in my photos. While the kushi dozen were mostly delightful, there were several segments of shell that were found and we found the lack of selection of oysters for shuckers to be disappointing. It has been many years since I've eaten dinner here but from what I remember it being decent (3-4 stars out of 5). There also used to be a very good oyster happy hour deal I used to frequent handful of years ago but it doesn't look like it exists anymore. I hope they bring that back because that was some of the nicest oyster happy hour in all of Seattle (if you're reading this, Shuckers - plllleaasseee consider bringing the hh back!)

Great food. Their fish dishes are spot on. The server was attentive and his recommendation of wine paired nicely with our dinner.

Awesome vibes & atmosphere, some of the best & crispiest fish & chips I've ever had, my husband was head over heels for the scallops and king salmon, and the service was top notch. Highly recommend.

Great food, great drinks, good atmosphere and friendly service. The halibut and chips stole the show. The raw Kumamoto oysters were great but I was perplexed that their baked oysters were also Kumamotos. Not the right oysters to use for that.

What a wonderful restaurant! Jelena's service and warm attitude is above and beyond anyone else in Seattle! I stopped in for a lovely gem salad with such crisp greens and tangy blue cheese and bacon pieces and fried shallots, along with their warm sourdough bread and a cold glass of Rose from Provence! It's the perfect place to stop on your way home or to your hotel! For a little something or a delicious dinner - don't miss Shuckers and ask for Jelena! By the way, every table was raving about their amazing oysters!!! Come here tonight!

W Hotel recommended Shuckers. Went over without a reservation. Restaurant empty, but told only bar seat available. Didn't really want to sit at the bar that evening, but did so anyway. Bar staff very nice. Food was tasty, but portions were skimpy, especially for the prices. Crab cocktail had two little pieces of crab meat and a couple of forkfuls of shredded crab meat and cost $30. Finished about an hour later. Of course, most tables still empty!!! Maybe they don't like walk ins from the W? Can't recommend and won't go back during future visits to Seattle.

I was very disappointed in this place. I had a clam chowder and baked oysters. My spouse had the pan fried oysters. None of the food were any good. The service was ok, but the wait for the food is terribly long. Also, they do charge a 3% service fee.

Although this restaurant was not what my party had intended, we still stayed for some drinks and apps to fulfill our reservation. The staff was very welcoming (even though we were not dressed appropriately) and accommodated us with great hospitality. The appetizers were good, the baked oysters held us through. The main attraction was the espresso martini. That seems to be the fad of drinks and it was half of my parties first time trying it. SUPER DELICIOUS. Gave the little perk we all needed before heading out. For a quick date night, I would highly recommend. Thank you again Shuckers

Food gets 4+ stars Service gets 2 stars Made reservations for 4 people. Our waiter had to be prompted to tell us anything about the menu items and was unusually slow. When we needed anything we had to ask someone else to get it because he was nowhere to be found. The food on the other hand was very tasty. The fish and chips were extra crispy and delicious. The scallops were cooked perfectly and to die for. The king salmon was fresh but maybe a tad under done. Would recommend but Good luck on service.

I'm not sure the waiter took us seriously because we looked a little young? We didn't have a reservation, so I understand it was a very busy place but I would've appreciated a little bit of respect despite us looking like we are in our early 20s. We appreciated them taking us in. Another waitress came by and served us. She recommended the calamari, and it was actually very good. Happy with the service. We got it a dozen oysters, super fresh. 10/10. The calamari was a little soup like, it was very interesting. It wasn't fried like your usual, had tomatoes, capers, other veggies. The vibes were fancy. Mainly families, a few couples. It was a little bit darker which was nice.

Outstanding seafood and great atmosphere. Had a good wine selection and the service was outstanding. Highly recommend when in Seattle!

Waaaaaay overpriced! Service was good. Ambience was nice. The food was ok but certainly not worth the price. The shrimp cocktail was just ok...the shrimp weren't firm enough. I did enjoy the salmon with polenta. Again, it just wasn't worth the price. I don't mind a pricey meal. It just can't be average food with a high price. I doubt that I would ever return.

Our small party of 2 actually dined at Shuckers on July 20. I have delayed posting the review hoping to tip my hat to our server who saved the day by squeezing us in to a table out front (preferred on a lovely summer evening). But alas, I cannot locate the receipt with his name. We enjoyed a lovely meal of Crab Louie, Crab cakes and a side of fries. All beautifully presented and delicious. But what really sold us on Shuckers was our server (Nishii? Something unusual). Hopefully someone at Shuckers can ID him!

I can't believe I've visited Seattle 3 times and this is the first time I've tried Shuckers. Got there just in time for happy hour and my waiter was awesome. He wanted to make sure I got all the happy hour deals before the clock hit 5 which was super cool of him. I had just gotten off of the plane and I needed some food before I headed into work so I ended up getting a dozen oysters and a side of dungeness crab Mac and cheese. Oysters: 3 types of Pacific Northwest west; all super fresh and delicious Mac and Cherse: Don't let the size fool you. They pack a lot of crab in that thang! And they top it with a giant chunk of it. I know my pictures aren't all angled out to look appealing and pretty but def was a super enjoyable meal.

Definitely a fan and hope to return soon. Amazing food and great service. So why not 5 stars? It is far too crowded. I get it, every business wants to maximize profits, but seriously, when your table is placed in the middle of a walkway such that the server and others keep touching you (unknowingly) as they walk by and the server even dropped a used fork as he was trying to move the dirty dishes out of the way...doesn't make it a pleasant experience. Understandable but not 5 stars worthy. Further, the table was far too tiny. We kept having to play tetris to fit everything around without knocking things over and making the experience awkward. If the food wasn't so dang good, I think I would give it a 3 star for dining experience... But enough digressing...we ordered (also see my photos): 1/2 dozen oysters (wish I ordered a full dozen); crab cake (meh, it was mixed with something dense and not tasty; not my fave); seafood salmon (hubs liked it; I prefer the traditional creamy clam myself); whole trout (this one stole the show! I loved it and did not like sharing with my hubs ha); and louie salad (very tasty and hearty for a salad; loved every bite and I usually hate 1000 island dressing but this one must have been made in house, it was delish and fresh). We ended the night with the mud pie. Wow, that was one of the best mud pies (though I haven't had many in life). We want to return soon and try everything else. And this time, we will bring back the kids. I will just have to ask for no hallway table.

Very nice place. The oysters were to die for. Delicious as was the shrimp cocktail. We had the market fish salmon which was slightly overcooked but still delicious

Solid. The ambiance is definitely old guard vibe. The bartender is top notch and strikes the right balance of friendliness and neutrality. We have been coming here for Happy Hour for over 10 years, and always leave feeling great. The drinks and the good are top notch and the prices are fair. Authentic Seattle experience.

Really nice dinner and great meal. Some of the items were sold out by the time we were seated, but we had a late dinner so that may be expected.

The service was fantastic and the food was just ok. Nice ambiance and great drink menu. I started off with the clam chowder, which is large enough for two people. My waiter was so kind and pre split the bowl for us. My half was more than enough with room to share. It wasn't the worst clam chowder but definitely not the best. The clam to potato ratio was not there, too many potatoes and not enough clams. There was also something missing from the ingredients but I couldn't quite figure out what it was. My waiter suggested adding tobasco and that definitely altered the taste in a favorable way. For my meal I opted for the NY Strip and Scallops special. The scallops were flavorful and perfectly cooked, the steak was just a No and I chose not to consume it. The meal came with mashed potatoes and asparagus, which both were cooked well. It was my travel companion's birthday and not only did our waiter give her a free dessert, he gave me one as well I'd return for the service and probably just stick to seafood

Went here for my friends birthday. We did outdoor seating during happy hour. We got a whole bunch of oysters and drinks and some octopus. The octopus was tender and tasted delicious. Enough said. The oysters were fresh and good. The only downside to it is that it was pretty expensive for happy hour. They served it with horseradish and cocktail sauce. Our server was great and kept checking in on us and make sure we were doing okay.

Comfortable leather chairs and rich wood features--like dining with the captain. Raw, chilled oysters with tart lemon--confident service knows just the right white to pair. A refreshing experience in old-world good taste.

I attended a manager outing to Shuckers and highly recommend it. I cannot eat fish, but thoroughly enjoyed a cheeseburger, mashed potatoes and the black & blue tart. The cheeseburger was perfectly cooked and tasty, and the mashed potatoes garlicy and well seasoned. The black and blue tart was fabulous! WOW! I heard from coworkers that the oysters, shrimp, and fish were fantastic and they enjoyed the flavors. We had a table of 16 and the service was exceptional!

Second time in Seattle and picked a restaurant for dinner.. thousands of places to eat and we decided to eat here.. after being seated we realized we ate here the last time too!! Love this place and Mike took good care of us! Come on in and relax and eat!

Probably the best scallops I've had in Washington, the shrimp for the shrimp cocktail was absolutely amazing , I'm pregnant and can't drink alcohol so the bartender whipped me up a phenomenal mocktail. The service was fast and attentive 10/10 will be coming back.

We now know why this is an institution ! It just is the perfect mix of oyster house with a few extras... super attentive service, perfect menu (not too crazy but right on!), and really fresh food with creative cocktails. Not much more to say ... too notch !
