Live piano karaoke lounge with music-inspired cocktails

"When dinner’s over in East Nashville and you don’t want the night to end, this is where you want to be. Sid Gold’s Request Room has the same energy as our aunt who always wears sequins and somehow knows the right song to keep family karaoke the perfect level of inappropriate. The front room serves music-inspired cocktails named after artists like The Grateful Dead, Richie Valens, and The Beatles, and the back centers around a baby grand piano. Wednesdays kick off with “BYO Vinyl” in the bar, hosted by Soccer Moses (Nashville SC fans know him well). After that, you can slink back to the piano lounge for “Burlesk”—Sid’s version of burlesque—followed by live piano karaoke." - adam sloan

"I wrote that Sid Gold’s Request Room is opening a third location in East Nashville next to the old El Fuego on Gallatin; the New York–born piano karaoke lounge was founded by Paul Devitt with former Psychedelic Furs keyboardist Joe McGinty in 2015, a Detroit outpost opened in 2019, and in Nashville Devitt is partnering with locals Keith Thompson, Glen Pangle, and Kira Small (who occasionally plays piano at the bar)." - Eater Staff

"I’m excited to report that the New York–born popular piano karaoke lounge Sid Gold’s Request Room is opening its third location in East Nashville, next to the old El Fuego on Gallatin. The original was launched in 2015 by Paul Devitt (founder of Beauty Bar) with former Psychedelic Furs keyboardist Joe McGinty, and a Detroit outpost opened in mid-2019 on the ground floor of the Siren Hotel; in Nashville Devitt partners with locals Keith Thompson, Glen Pangle, and Kira Small (who also plays piano at the bar on occasion). The Nashville spot mirrors the first two with a cocktail bar up front and a piano lounge in back, offering a menu similar to New York and Detroit: classic cocktails like French 75s and Hemingway daiquiris, music-inspired drinks such as the Velvet Underground (bourbon, lime, velvet falernum), plus beer and wine. Future karaoke crooners can order from a limited kitchen menu with snacks like pigs in a blanket, vegetarian egg rolls, and hummus, as well as heartier options like a Cuban sandwich and a charcuterie spread. Traditionally known for its eclectic, live-pianist-accompanied karaoke spanning pop, punk, soul, and classic rock, the bar also regularly showcases burlesque at its other locations and plans weekly burlesque in Nashville eventually; given COVID-19 restrictions, they’re opening initially solely as a piano bar with a great lineup of talent including Micah Hulscher (plays with Margo Price, Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell), Randy Leago (Duane Eddy, the Beach Boys, Shelby Lynne), Robbie Crowell (Deer Tick, Midland), and John Pahmer (Al Green, Yacht Rock). Current Nashville hours are Wednesday–Saturday, 5–11 p.m., and Sunday noon–7 p.m." - Delia Jo Ramsey

"I'm told Sid Gold’s Request Room is opening a third location in East Nashville at 3245 Gallatin Pike (next door to El Fuego), slated for early April. Founded in 2015 by Paul Devitt with partner Joe McGinty and with a Detroit outpost that opened in 2019, the Nashville spot will follow the same format: a cocktail bar in front and a piano lounge in the back. The menu hasn't been finalized but a limited kitchen is expected; piano-backed karaoke will happen nightly with other live entertainment scheduled in the evenings before karaoke, and weekly burlesque performances will also occur. The venue is known for its eclectic, request-driven karaoke—customers can request anything from pop to punk to soul to classic rock—accompanied by a live pianist, and the bar is named after one of an investor's fathers." - Delia Jo Ramsey
