"Sidecar is a fancy donut mini-chain that started in Costa Mesa and has since grown to seven locations around LA. If you’re looking for the upscale donut trend's patient zero, you'll find it here: Sidebar started putting things like salted malt cookie dough and huckleberry jam on dough rings back in 2013, and they’re still the best at it. We’re not sure their signature claim of making fresh donuts every hour is true at all locations these days, but regardless, eating one of their Butter & Salt donuts while warm remains a religious experience. Go with the cake donuts over the yeast ones." - Garrett Snyder

"Sidecar Doughnuts is making a big push into Los Angeles. The Orange County upstart known for its inventive flavors and long Costa Mesa lines only just opened a new outlet down in Torrance, but now Eater has confirmed at least two other locations are on the horizon. First up is Manhattan Beach, the South Bay city already known for its culinary prowess. Sidecar will slide into Manhattan Village shopping plaza off Sepulveda, which is already home to a variety of restaurants including chains like Island’s and LA Mexican food staple Mercado. The second location lands at busy Third and Fairfax, right next door to the Trader Joe’s and within walking distance to the Original Farmer’s Market (with its own old school doughnuts) and the Grove. Both locations are slated to open sometime next year, though there are no formal timing announcements to be made just yet. Sidecar Doughnuts continues to thrive even with increased competition in the artisanal doughnut market from names like Blue Star and Voodoo. The company has a busy location down in Del Mar, and opened up in Santa Monica back in 2015. It’s Torrance location is hosting its first full hours of service just today at Rolling Hills Plaza." - Farley Elliott

Google
A MUST! Found this place via social media influencer, showed up ten minutes after opening, and there was a line out the door. Customer service was brilliant, and the atmosphere was electric. A serious consideration needs to be made for their catering based on their products and customer service. The donuts to buy: hazelnut (no matter what), then the bacon maple, the salt and butter, and the Oreo. Whoever, not a single donut was bad. You can taste the quality of ingredients they use.

Google
the absolute best donut/coffee spot in all of socal. Sidecar puts LOVE into their coffee & you can absolutely tell the difference. They also make all of their syrups in house! They have a seasonal banana latte that i’m hoping becomes permanent, because it’s literally the best coffee i’ve ever had. Their donuts on the other hand, are just as good as the coffee. The butter & salt will always be #1b- as they use quality ingredients for every item they sell. Additionally, they come out with seasonal flavors which are all to-die-for —like the strawberry glaze, dubai chocolate, and more!!! Definitely stop by to try them out if you’re visiting or if you live nearby :)

Google
Best donuts in SoCal 💗All the donuts taste great except the cookies & cream. All donuts are made fresh and have the perfect sweetness levels. The coffee portions are pretty small but taste good. Must try!

Google
I’ve heard so much about Sidecar Donuts, and I finally got to try them myself—wow. Hands down, the best donuts I’ve ever had in my life. Super fresh, warm, and absolutely flawless. I tried the Old-Fashioned and the Lemon Pound Cake, and while both were incredible, the Old-Fashioned was on another level. Pure perfection. This place is officially a must-visit every time I’m in Newport!🍩

Google
VERDICT: Excellent donuts with impeccable style and flavor. A must-try. FOOD: There are no gimmicks here with the unique styles of donuts, but rather excellent execution. The balance of gentle sweetness, richness, and saltiness of the butter & salt donut squarely demonstrates this shop's expertise in the art of the pastry. It can't be overstated that this shop dodges the pitfall of overwhelming sweetness, best displayed in the salted caramel donut and the passion fruit donut, which temper sweetness in favor of full-bodied flavor. DRINK: Their coffee serves as a perfect companion to the donuts. While not stellar, it is still quite enjoyable and may have been a killer coffee, but who's-to-know when the donuts are guaranteed to steal the show. SERVICE: The team was kind, prompt, and a joy to work with. Perhaps my child-like excitement helped my cause, but if you don't have child-like excitement being taken into the audience of a royal donut spread like this, your soul may be dead. ATMOSPHERE: Americana-meets-French. A poignant memory of Paris for me will always be the bustle of a cramped patisserie. This place hits those notes but with a refreshingly American twist by offering a coffee and slowing the vibe a couple notches while still maintaining the excitement of imminent indulgence.

Google
If you have not had these donuts, what are you doing with your life? No, seriously. They’re amazing. The coffee is the perfect pair. This is the only 6 pack you’ll want in your life after you have these. You’re welcome. This review was made in connection with a Toast promotion.

Google
This place was hyped back and forth by friends, so it really breaks my heart to find my experience so mundane 😔 . The product tasted old, like it was baked the previous day, not this morning. The flavor isn't bad, but it was cold and chewy in the center. It tasted like something I would get at a grocery store. Normally I'd be charitable, "maybe they had a bad day today 🤷‍♂️" but when you charge 5 dollars per donut, my expectations get really high. It's gotta be good *every time*. For perspective, JD Flannel's Donut in San Juan Capistrano serves gourmet donuts at a similar price, 5 a pop. I've gone 3 times, at different hours, 8am, 10am and 1pm. The dough is crispy on the outside and soft as a cloud on bite. It's consistent and has earned my loyalty. When you charge a price that high, that's what I expect. I don't feel like giving SideCar another chance, if serving old product is something they're willing to do. If I'm gonna pay for a donut that expensive, id rather go to JD Flannel's instead.

Maggie M.

Yelp
I'm not sure the name of the girl that helped me but 9/11 @1:50pm on the register, if you were helping me as I waiting for the new batch of butter & salt drops, YOU'RE an angel and deserve the world! Best service and sweetest girl service is what makes me keep coming back, love this place.

Beatrice B.

Yelp
Gourmet donuts all day long. Fresh, fluffy, flavorful, what more could one desire? Not overly sweet or heavy, really relies on the consumer to exercise self control. I was able to sample quite a few different flavors but we got the chocolate and passion fruit and both were devine. I'm willing to do a three hour turnaround trip for a box, why not, life is short! If you're looking for the perfect donut, look no further, this is it!

Yelp
I went yesterday and had the chocolate pistachio, spiced tiramisu and the apple fritter since it was Friday. This once amazing donut shop has declined in quality and flavor. The donuts are not good anymore. They don't make them every hour like before and most of the donuts were not warm. There is something definitely missing in terms of the attention to detail and quality control. The seasonal flavors, were just meh. The chocolate pistachio donut did not have a deep chocolate flavor. The spiced tiramisu, the lady finger cookie they put on top of the donut was actually hard and not edible. The mascarpone pumpkin mousse was good but overall the donut was average. The apple fritter was the most disappointing, cold and lacked texture and flavor. You could get the same fritter at a regular donut shop. Sadly, Sidecar is not as good as Oliboli in Tustin and JD Flannel in San Juan Capistrano. Question? What happened? I know the chef left a while ago but it has never been the same. Complacency?

Jenny C.

Yelp
Sidecar Doughnut is certainly a treat so it's not your everyday (or Friday office treats)! The interior is small with fresh batch of donuts turned and staff ready to serve! Bring a novice to this venue and a love of sweet pastries, I lean right in a d picked up a box of half dozen (my wallet scream a bit). It's $38 a box so licking the crumbs and my fingers. There's a a couple outdoor seating to enjoy the treat but I drove home to savor the treats. What was odd, we weren't told our drinks, campfire mocha latte, will be available at the side window counter. The huckleberry and butter cream doughnuts were heavenly. Other others flavors seemed too much or obsessively sweet!

Sammy B.

Yelp
Sidecar donuts, you have my heart. I wish I could give this place 6 stars!!! Between the immediate smell of freshly made donuts (and freshly cooked bacon!), the wide variety of delicious flavors, and the excellent service we received, I would recommend Sidecar Doughnuts again and again. This donut shop is small but mighty, making fresh donuts every hour with above average flavors like their most popular huckleberry, butter and salt, vegan apple cider, maple bacon, and the list goes on. My personal favorite was the huckleberry doughnut which is also what they are known for. We also grabbed some drip coffee here and it had such a good flavor, you didn't even need to add sugar. The inside is quaint but very cute with wood detailing and retro signage. There is tons of parking too! If there is a line, don't fret, those freshly made doughnuts are sooo worth it!

Ryna D.

Yelp
First time at the Costa Mesa location. Still very good doughnuts and still one of my favorites.

Frank O.

Yelp
Ordered delivery, and the time estimate was off by about 30 minutes, but the donuts were worth waiting for. Very elegant, very flavorful, and I want to stop by in shop to see all the donuts they offer. Sweetness was generally on point (not too sweet), except for the Passionfruit Pavlova. Any bite that contained the Passionfruit puree was overly sweet. It was also placed as a dollop in the middle, rather than spread out across the whole donut. Strawberry buttermilk did taste like strawberry. My go-to is the Old Fashioned and the texture of the cake was on point, would have liked a bit more glaze since the flavor of the cake was not strong. Choc-O-Lot were very chocolaty, would like for them to be darker (or maybe just have a dark chocolate option). Toasted Pina Colada was tropical due to the pineapple, and an appropriate amount of toasted coconut on top.

Gio W.

Yelp
Some of the best donuts in CA!! Recommend trying the huckleberry or strawberry and apple fritters if it's your first time!

Yelp
If you love fancy, gourmet donuts and delicious coffee, you've got to check this place out! Stopped by on a Sunday morning and it was poppin! We did an online order and still had to wait a bit due to our drinks still needing to be made. They were super busy with a line out the door so it was understandable. There are tables available outside to eat at but they are kind of crammed so I recommend just taking it home or somewhere else to enjoy them. Prices/donut are up there but these are fancy, fresh, quality donuts. Coffee prices are cheaper than your typical coffeeshops though! What I ordered: -Butter & Salt Donut: I'm not a huge fan of donuts but this was one was surprisingly good! It wasn't too sweet nor too savory. I think it was pretty mild in both flavors while having a thick, cake-like texture. I enjoyed it! 4/5 -Vanilla Latte: I ordered this iced with almond milk and it was really good! You could definitely taste the coffee but it wasn't too strong. It was mildly muted by the sweetness/vanilla. I do think more ice was needed because the ice was pretty melted and the drink wasn't even that cold. But an overall delicious coffee for a donut spot. 4/5 Overall, I think this place is good but I'm not a huge fan of donuts. I understand the hype but I can't say I agree with it. I'd probably be down to get it again one day in the future, but the crowded, small space was just too much for donuts in my opinion.

Bertha V.

Yelp
Came here after dinner on a Friday night. First time ever having a sidecar doughnut. Walked in and it's a small little shop. You walk in and you see all the delicious doughnuts. I ordered the huckleberry one and my husband ordered the apple fritter. Both doughnuts came out fresh from the oven. We also ordered a latte that they have right now, it's like having a smore but in a latte. I forgot the name of it. Both of the doughnuts were delicious and warm. The lattes were also very delicious. Definitely a place to come for dessert.

Joseph M.

Yelp
Sidecar Doughnuts is a hidden gem in Costa Mesa! The doughnuts are fresh, delicious, and made with great flavors that stand out. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Definitely a must visit if you're in the area and we'll absolutely be coming back

Hayley H.

Yelp
Holey, donuts! Ha, get it? All puns aside, Sidecar has the best donuts in Orange County - imo. I visited for the first time on National Donut Day and braved the line of 50+ people to get my hands on their six pack of freshly made donuts. Luckily for me, and my hungry stomach, if you purchase their 6 pack of classic flavors, you can skip the line and head straight to the counter. The pre-selected flavors include their famous butter & salt, old fashioned, vanilla bean glazed, choc-a-lot, huckleberry, mint chocolate chip, and bullseye donuts. You can purchase a six pack for $28 or a dozen for $54. Don't forget to cash in that Yelp check-in offer for $5 off your purchase of $25+ as well. These donuts were absolutely divine. Sidecar also releases a number of seasonal flavors each month. They even offer a number of vegan and gluten free options. For the classics, I adored the old fashion and huckleberry donuts the most. Easily worth the wait, but place an order online or via their app if you're in a hurry!

Danielle B.

Yelp
Sidecar offers fresh and quality donuts all day long. We got the strawberry buttermilk and chocolate donut. The chocolate donut was light and airy while the strawberry buttermilk was more cake like. Sidecar is definitely on the pricier end and can get pretty busy, especially during the weekend.

Angela C.

Yelp
I know, I know, I'm incredibly late to the Sidecar bandwagon. This place has been recommended to me numerous times for apparently having some of the best donuts around. And today, I finally understand what all the hype was about. I was lucky enough to snag a parking spot right in front, so I don't know how hard it is to park there on the normal day. There was a pretty large line when I arrived, but they are definitely used to large crowds, as the line moved pretty quickly. I got the 6-pack donuts, and I really had to think fast for which flavors I wanted to include in the box. At the end of the day, it didn't matter too much because every flavor was pretty bomb. The Huckleberry and Butter and Salt are my favorites so far. I would love to try the Strawberry Buttermilk the next time I come here. Yes, there will definitely be a next time. Sidecar has some of the best donuts in OC. It's small, but service is great and the prices are solid for what you get. Definitely check this place out if you like donuts.

Jhovany S.

Yelp
One of our favorite doughnut spots in orange county. We would come here more frequently if we lived closer. Even when it is busy, the line moves along fairly quickly. Staff is friendly and gives helpful suggestions. All of the donuts we have ever gotten from them have not been dry. All made to perfection, you can't go wrong with whatever you choose to get. Parking can be hassle right in front, but there is plenty of parking to the side.

Reese J.

Yelp
Sidecar has been on my list for quite some time and so when I was in the area, they caught my attention. This Sidecar is located in a fairly big plaza, parking wasn't an issue. The shop itself is a bit small so I could see it getting crowded in prime time hours. There's a few tables and chairs outside. There were a few people ahead of me and more came trickling in on a Monday afternoon. I was excited to get a Yelp Check in offer so I took advantage. Customer service was great, super attentive and patient. With all the options in front of me, I couldn't quite decide what I wanted. Along with the 6 doughnuts I got, I ordered the Vietnamese Coffee. Sadly, I didn't capture the same experience 4/5 star reviewers felt about Sidecar. I wasn't satisfied or impressed with any of the doughnuts or the coffee. With so much doughnut and coffee places all over OC, I wouldn't visit Sidecar again.

Ajay G.

Yelp
I discovered this place while doing Uber, one of my passengers requested that I stopped here before their final destination and they said they would get me a donut... I had an old fashioned and it was warm... I felt like I was doing crack for the first time... I was like I'm definitely coming back here I ended up back in Orange county (I later found out that they are other locations lol) But since I was already here I decided to go by everyone inside was very nice I was just going to get a donut and some milk but I couldn't make up my mind so I ended up getting a half dozen... Not a big fan of the box. Inside was very cute very Southern California. I highly recommend the old fashioned donut!

Clayton M.

Yelp
Update: eggs benny still on top, but it's in a different category from the rest. Cinnamon roll rises in the ranks, easily a top 3 candidate. Unfortunately, it's only available on Wednesdays??? Sheeeesh... put it on your bucket list to come down here on a Wednesday morning. It's worth it - a fantastic roll. Has a subtle citrus flavor, and pecans on top. It was worth the wait for me! Sidecar, can we make the cinnamon roll an everyday staple?? Ya know, just for those of us who are busy on Wednesdays. Would be huge

Alex L.

Yelp
First time visiting Sidecar Doughnuts! They had a discount going on for first time users who download their app. They verify it at the register, so be sure to show them. There is a bit of a wait, so patience is key. I got a few donuts and a coffee, as part of the deal, and they were all packed nearly into the box in the pictures. I think each donut was about $3 or $4, but they're unique and worth trying! They're smooth on the inside and fluffy. There's no seating inside, but there are some outside. Parking is abundant outside. I'd come again!

L Q.

Yelp
Good morning Yelppers. How are you doing today? Do you have place to live in safe area & clean food to eat? Congratulations you are very rich. So do you have an extra effort to help someone? Just do it if you believe in give to take. Ok lets jump to the review. I love the donuts because they are: Fresh, not much sugar, different types of flavors & different types of dough just asking the guys about it. People are welcoming & have time to answer customer questions. Parking lots available easily. We visited the shop on Friday before 11:00 am. I love how the guy encourage us to have more than three donuts by showing us first the small box then the big one then he realized that we want to stick to the same amount. But we end with 4 pieces. 1 chocolate with pistachio 1 classic 1 old fashioned 1 cinaminon It was our first and will not be the last time to buy from this shop. Never try any other products. I love the effort they put in packaging it is enjoyable. The bill was $17 and something. I wish you great day & don't miss to watch the sky this weekend Californian I read some thing will be in the sky at night you will not see it for hundreds of years. Enjoy your moments whatever is possible for you it is a gift if you are positive enough to keep your spirituality for you & your community. Bye

Anne A.

Yelp
Butter and Salt donuts are to die for!! So good. The donuts are delicious and worth every penny. The workers are fast and so sweet. They are always so helpful and work together as a team and it's such a great place when you want a sweet treat!!

Danielle S.

Yelp
What is fun about Sidecar donuts are the fun flavors that aren't typically found at a Donut shop. These donuts are more cakey which is not my favorite kind of donut; however, that is more of a personal preference. I think if you like cake donuts this is definitely worth a visit. It is a small location, so not much seating when it is crowded. For me that's not a big deal since it is a donut shop. When I visited it was extremely crowded (hard to find parking) but the service was pretty quick.

Lauren C.

Yelp
I love Sidecar!!!! Huckleberry is by far my favorite and probably will always be my favorite. It's just SO good, iykyk. We stopped by to try their Strawberry Matcha donut and we were very happy that we only ordered one. I love a good Strawberry Matcha drink, but this donut was a hard no. Besides the strawberry as a garnish, I couldn't detect any strawberry flavor. It was basically a matcha donut and not a very pleasant one - I'll just leave it at that. Huckleberry was amazing, as per usual and the service was great.

Vanessa R.

Yelp
Celebration cake is their best donut -- period. But today I decided to be adventurous and try other flavors. We got a 6 pack of donuts and the most surprising one was the old fashion donut! It was warm, lightly glazed and had a slight crunchy exterior that made the donut that much more enjoyable. Service today was delightful as always, and it was a weekday so the line wasn't too long and the wait for the new batch of celebration cake didn't take too long either.

Belinda L.

Yelp
I went to Sidecar today to redeem some points before they expired. I wasn't able to order the Passion Fruit Pavlova online so I decided to just go in the store and see what was available. I always get distracted by the seasonal flavors and specialty donuts that I forget to get the butter and salt for which a batch had just been done. We did get the Toasted Pina Colada in a separate box to be kept away from those with coconut allergy. I was happy to see that there was Passion Fruit Pavlova. Daughter wanted the Choc-A-Lot as she was unable to pick it up last time. The huckleberry was fresh. We also got the last Strawberry Buttermilk, Madagascar Vanilla Bean Glazed, and Saigon Cinnamon Crumb. Server was careful to keep the Toasted Pina Colada in its own box. She also made a point of asking if we wanted to order any drinks. She assisted in helping me redeem my points and earn points for the order. She also invited us back for the collab with Salt & Straw on Friday, August 23rd. There were no customers in front of me and only one behind me at 2:30 p.m. on a Monday afternoon. Both the customer behind me and I were attended to very quickly.

Trent C.

Yelp
I guess it's been a little while since I've been in a donut shop because the last time I remember buying a dozen they were around $12. When I asked how much a dozen was she told me it was $54. She also mentioned that I would get a free donut if I ordered a dozen or what we used to call a baker dozen. Had a lot of energy and they were very well staffed, but I did stand there for quite some time waiting for them to finish talking and looking at pictures on their phone. I decided to order six donuts and they were a gift for my auto body shop where I was having some work done. They were doing same-day job for me while I waited and I wanted to do something nice. Not sure I would be back but it seemed like a nice place.

Tiffany H.

Yelp
Sidecar is one of my go-to spot for donuts. Huckleberry and maple bacon are my favorites! Make sure to download the app and sign up to receive (targeted) offers!

Adriana P.

Yelp
One of the things I miss since moving out of California. We always enjoy this place whenever we visit Orange County and it never disappoints. Everything is fresh , the service is great and even though the lines can be a bit long it's definitely worth it.

Grace H.

Yelp
Solid donuts that are supposedly fresh baked every hour. The huckleberry donut we got was definitely fresh baked, but the two seasonal flavors we got weren't as warm. I enjoyed the huckleberry flavor the most! Solid donuts, friendly workers, and right next to other popular dessert spots (Stella Jeans and the pie store)

Ayham D.

Yelp
Cherry pop is the best vegan donut I've ever had and it's not close. It was so convenient that Sidecar was open late yesterday. Even prepping new donuts at 7, I was impressed. Love everything about this shop. The service was exceptional. As always a great experience at Sidecar.

Morgan-Emilee A.

Yelp
100000/10 You know in ratatouille when he's eating and he gets transported into this little universe of good flavors and euphoria? Yeah that's what this place does. Think I covered it all. The end

Nicole H.

Yelp
Saigon Cinnamon Crumb -- pure deliciousness in a donut -- unparalleled taste, texture, tantalization. It was warm, friendly, and mouth-wateringly irresistible. Unfortunately, their Vietnamese iced coffee did NOT do it for me. Thank goodness it was a free reward in the app, and I didn't have to pay for it. For someone whose love language is Vietnamese iced coffee, this was watered down and didn't taste anything like a Vietnamese iced coffee at all (sorry to say). I love Sidecar Doughnuts, though, very much, and have tried their peppermint mocha with oat milk, and that was very good, spot on with taste. However, I will not get their Vietnamese iced coffee here ever again. My favorite spots for Vietnamese iced coffee are blk dot coffee, 7 Leaves, DaVien, and Pickle Banh Mi Co. I still love you, Sidecar Doughnuts!

Lorelie C.

Yelp
These doughnuts are delish!! I've first had Sidecar doughnuts probably about 10 years ago. It was the first time I've had bacon in a donut. I've enjoyed Sidecar then, and I still enjoy it today. They are freshly made each day and of course they are always the best right after you buy them. However, they last a couple of days and still good. There is always a line but it goes pretty fast. They don't have seats inside but have a few outdoor tables and chairs. The place looks elevated compared to most donut shops, as it should since their doughnuts are a bit pricey. However, they're larger and more filling than your regular donuts. And did I say they're delish?!! Our favorites are Huckleberry, Saigon Cinnamon crumb, Maple bacon (this gets hard faster, so you better finish this first) and Blueberry Champagne. They also serve delish coffee drinks, like flavored lattes, drip, cappuccino, espresso, milk, tea, apple juice, etc. Love their packaging too! Don't forget to check their deals and Yelp check in offer.

Jami D.

Yelp
A must if you're in OC - freshly made donuts every hour + samples to try & fire coffee! A bit pricey but to be expected and worth it. Service 10/10 Yum 10/10

Trisha V.

Yelp
If you've never been here then you've been living under a rock!!!! As soon as I found out they were bringing back Mint Chocolate Chip Bullseye I practically ran over here! I remembered it last year and literally thought it was the best donut I've had. And I sampled the Dulce de Leche churro and I practically fell to my knees, of course I needed to get this one too! I love Sidecar

Ying L.

Yelp
Trying out this donut shop for the first time. We got there around 8am on sat and there was no line. We picked up a huckleberries donut, a vanilla donut and a butter & salt. I didn't really like these 3 flavors. Maybe I picked the wrong one to try. The huckleberries one is better than the other 2 flavors. The donut has more like a bread texture than a donut fluffy texture. $12 plus for 3 donuts. It is worth a try and maybe I will come back to try out their other flavors. The donuts did come in a very pretty box. Plenty of parking in the lot.

Chris A.

Yelp
Sidecar Doughnuts and Coffee is a boutique style donut shop that has become a chain. They offer a few regular go-to donuts such as huckleberry and this crazy breakfast pesto and egg doughnut that is super fun, as well as many seasonal flavors and always at least one gluten-free option. The flavors are pure and intense so if you're getting something sweet expect it to be sweet. The donuts are usually cake base, which is my favorite. And the gluten-free cupcakes, although slightly dense taste like regular cupcakes and are well flavored. These are not inexpensive donuts and also expect to pay quite a bit for coffee. There's usually a line and they have what they have so if they sell out, you're not getting it. However, whenever I come across a Sidecar, I pick up Huckleberry for my sister, something seasonal and chocolate for my parents and something gluten-free for me. I am still a fan many years on.

Haylee M.

Yelp
Okay I didn't know these Donuts would cost $5, But they were actually really good. Looked up desserts that we must try on a trip to LA and sidecar showed up on every list. Got the classic Huckleberry Cake Donut, And a Seasonal Blueberry Champagne Donut. I know the Huckleberry is supposed to be all the rave, but honestly I preferred the raised blueberry donut more. Like the cakey texture of the Huckleberry but the flavor was not to my liking so much. Husband did love it though. They had samples of the Old Fashioned Cake Donut (This was freaking amazing!!) and the Butter and Salt (just so-so; nothing fancy). The seasonal Blueberry Champagne Donut was AMAZING! Soft brioche donut with the right about of blueberry glaze, and a DELICIOUS lemon cheesecake mousse. Phenomenal.

Yelp
Butter and salt is really all you need here. There simply isn't a better donut out there, especially for people like me who don't even like donuts! Their other seasonal rotating flavors like churro are fun to try. But don't miss out on the classic butter and

Yelp
Their donuts are amazing. With it comes a price but they also have a buy half dozen and it's a better deal as well as sometimes Yelp check in deals. Lots of variety and they are more on the hefty weight side as compared to the KK donut that is light and airy. No comparison. Different planets altogether. Besides donuts, they also serve up coffee and its usual variants like the espresso, cappuccino, lattes and the like. Served hot or cold. Good drinks! Weekends this place can get busy but they are fairly quick so no concern there.

Yelp
This Sidecar consistently delivers good quality doughnuts. The place is tiny, but they did well with the design to be fun and unique. The parking is getting bad, or worse I should say. The parking lot has way to few spots for the amount of traffic in the center. I'd recommend bringing a friend to drop you off and pick you up, unless you enjoy circling for sometimes 20+ minutes. Service has always been good. The "tip me" function I feel is too in your face, but past that they have all been nice. A Staple.

Yelp
This place is uniquely yummy! A fresh take on donuts! Literally there are made fresh daily with fun twists like bacon topped or fresh fruit. Come here if you want to spoil yourself with a little sugar for breakfast ;)

Yelp
Sidecar has really improved in Costa Mesa since my last visit. I cruised through town and stopped by on National Doughnut Day and was not disappointed. Staff greeted me as I waited in the extended line, offering a mushroom based iced drink blend to refresh customers as we waited. Samples of multiple doughnuts were handed out, and by the time I got to the counter, I was welcomed with a free doughnut and coffee in celebration of this momentous day! My chocolate doughnut was fresh and so fluffy it was like biting into a saccharine cloud. My coffee was a mocha blend that was pleasant to partake. The service was superb, and the store was orderly and kept. I have returned since this visit and had the vegan lemonade crumble, which was scrumptious. I am grateful for such epically improved experiences at Sidecar!

Yelp
Too overhyped for their own good. After hearing all the rave, my wife and I decided to branch off from our typical go to spot and try out sidecar. While the smell lures you in and friendly staff are more than eager to help, their donuts just fall short in a couple different areas. First, the dough... is just so heavy. When you're eating it, the donut feels very airy but once it hits your stomach, you feel the oil that went into caking up the donut. Second, the flavor. Although at first glance the donut seems to have full potential, the flavor gets completely overwhelmed by the dough. It's like the dough has its own greasy flavor and any icing on top just feels like a tease of what it's advertised to taste as. Rather than enjoying the aftertaste of your selected flavor, you just get a taste-full of oily dough (which is light texture-wise, but heavy for the rest of the journey). I hate to say that as highly acclaimed as this shop is, it just gets pushed to the side (pun slightly intended) by better donuts out in central OC.

Yelp
Unique Donut shop with a great variety of freshly made donuts. Per my daughter's suggestion I tried the Butter & Salt, Huckleberry, Lemon Pound Cake - SO Flippin' delicious! Donuts are expensive, but considering that they don't use preservatives and make small batches on the hour, I say it's worth treating yourself once in awhile.

Yelp
I've been here a handful of times and their doughnuts are some of the best I've ever had! They're perfection and they're always fresh as they're made all day long so wether you go in the morning or the late afternoon you know it won't be a stale treat. The service is fast, the workers are friendly though I t's a small space with a few tables outside and the parking lot is shared with a bunch of other businesses so parking is a nightmare sometimes but don't let that keep you from these doughnuts. They're a must try! I never had a doughnut from here I didn't like. Also, I just looked at their menu and I just realized they brought back the Susie's Blueberry Pancake doughnut and it's a MUST!!

Yelp
After moving from Portland, Oregon and only having blue star donuts it was hard to find a good donut place in OC. After many attempts I think we found our favorite donut place in OC! They have vegan options!

Yelp
This donut shot has unique donuts that are always fresh. A few of my favorites are the huckleberry, choc-a-lot and the butter and salt, and look forward to trying new seasonal

Yelp
This place was crowded when we went on a Saturday morning. The line that was out the door moved fast, they have a single register to ring people up so that's the only slowdown. The donuts are good - especially the cake based ones. They have an app that allows you to get a free drink and donut upon signing up - I highly recommend doing this. When you are in the mood for upscale donuts, this is a great option. Inside, it was slightly dim, but that could be that it was overcast or that the line of people partially blocked the sunlight coming in. The inside is small, not much standing room and there are only a couple tables outside to sit at. This is mostly a pickup and take home type of place. All of the staff were pretty friendly - I would come back again!
