LA’s Top Doughnut Shop Coming to Carmel Valley | Eater San Diego

"Our collective doughnut dreams are about to become reality: Sidecar Doughnuts, one of Southern California’s best-loved doughnut shops, is expanding to San Diego. Founded in 2012 in Orange County, its flagship store is in Costa Mesa and it added an outpost in Santa Monica in 2015. The doughnut menu rotates regularly with special monthly flavors such as rosemary lemon drop, tiramisu, and birthday cake, alongside signature varieties including butter and salt and huckleberry; there’s even a savory doughnut filled with a poached egg, ham, and basil hollandaise sauce. All doughnuts are made fresh in small batches throughout the day. Sidecar will slot into the Del Mar Highlands Town Center complex next to Nekter Juice Bar, and a rep says the shop will open in September." - Candice Woo
