If you’re looking for a dinner spot that hits that perfect balance between old-school charm and modern culinary craft, Sidney Street Cafe is your place. We rolled in on a Wednesday night — it was surprisingly packed for midweek — but we were lucky enough to snag a table without a reservation.
Right off the bat, the service stood out: warm, attentive, and on point the whole evening. We kicked things off with a round of cocktails — the Benton Park and a Barrel Aged Manhattan. Both were incredibly well-balanced and clearly crafted with care.
Now let’s talk food. For appetizers, we went all in: beef tartare, veal dumplings, and lobster turnovers. Each one brought its own flavor game — rich, tender, and absolutely crave-worthy. Entrées came with soup or salad — we all opted for soup, and let me tell you, it wasn’t just a side dish. It was part of the experience. Deep, flavorful, and comforting.
For mains, we had the tuna, scallops, and the showstopper: lamb Wellington. The execution and plating? Spot on. Everything was cooked perfectly and bursting with flavor. We wrapped it all up with a decadent cheesecake that walked the line between rich and airy like a pro.
The vibe? Think exposed brick, dark wood, dim lights — it’s got that “classic St. Louis cool” without trying too hard. The bar’s a gem too — fully stocked and clearly curated. We ended the night with a pour of Van Winkle 12 Year — smooth, buttery, and the perfect cap to an incredible meal.
Sidney Street Cafe is one of those rare spots that feels both upscale and totally welcoming. Highly recommend.
