The 38 Best Restaurants in Hong Kong - Eater

"Sichuan food, with all its chiles, vinegars and spices, is almost as foreign to the subtle seasonings favored by Hongkongers as it is to the American palate. Sijie (and her eponymous restaurant) was the first to bring untamed, fully-dialed-in Sichuan flavors to Hong Kong. Sijie herself will even come out and chug a beer with you at the end of the meal. 30 Best Restaurants in Hong Kong

"You’ll know you’re at the right place when the aroma of palate-numbing Sichuan cuisine hits you. Sijie, which has room for about 30 diners at a time, is a spice lover’s dream in a casual, homey setting, complete with old-school metal chairs, circular tables, and retro tableware. Come enjoy a cold Tsing Tao and a spicy ma po tofu with a few friends—just make sure they’re spice lovers, too." - Kate Springer

Yelp
If you are starting your journey into the way of the hot and spicy, look no further and get a table at Sijie right this instance! If you love Sichuan food or spicy food, you must absolutely visit Sijie for a taste. After hearing my friends rave about Sijie over the years, i finally had the chance to try it a few weeks. We were a big group of 12 so opted for the fixed price set menu, which is bonus to try as many different dishes as possible! Every dish is astounding! Every bite is a burst of flavor and (sometimes) heat. The hype is real. We had the chili scallion oil noodles first, and that disappeared so quickly that we even ordered a second! I didn't get a chance to take a photo of it because everyone was so eager to it. After that, the remaining 11 or so dishes came out one after another. This is not a meal for the light-hearted so come with a big appetite. From the chili fish soup 水煮魚, shredded potato dish 土豆絲 and many more... There was not one single bad dish. For the price tag, it added up to around HKD$500 per person. Definitely on the pricey side for Sichuan food. But worth the splurge if you want the real deal. Oh, one more important note, they only take cash, so you better bring those bills bills yo!

Yelp
I love this place! their cold noodle as an appetizer is my favorite among all dishes. I cant recall how many times my colleagues lunch and friends dinner we have brought people here. A few other dishes I like are: Mapo tofu stir fry bamboo shoots fish in chili oil I would say 90% of the dishes are worth trying!! especially those organ fishes are rare for HK Another tip is it is BYOB. which saves you a bit on the liquor!

Yelp
A must visit for anyone who loves spice in their life. Sijie's Sichuan cuisine is a crowd pleaser. Come with a group (when social distancing guidelines allow) to ensure you can order all the dishes you need to try. The cold noodle appetizer (thin noodles topped w/SIjie's signature chili sauce & scallions) is the best dish on the menu. So good you will order multiple, you may even want half an order for yourself. The poached fish and fried chicken (under a mountain of chili peppers) are also amazing. I have not had one bad dish here. The menu has a recommendation of how many appetizers/mains/etc to order depending on your party size and it is very accurate. The staff is super friendly and helpful, they'll give you recommendations on what to order. Food comes out promptly so get ready to eat!

Yelp
Came here from a recommendation on YouTube. The place is a bit hidden on the 10th floor and the space is quite small. When we walked in they would only serve set menu of about 350 per person which includes 2 appetizer and 3 mains. Which is a lot of food for 2 ppl. The set price changes on how many ppl in your group but wish we could have ordered individually. Food was decent but not outstanding.

Yelp
Best Sichuan food in Hong Kong!!! I'm basically addicted to their spicy cold noodle and come here almost every week for lunch. By default, dishes are localized I.e. less spicy than authentic Sichuan. While this is perfect for me, others who are looking to kill their tastebuds should let the chef know so they can go heavy on the chili. Their Sichuan chilli sauce has a rich texture with layers and layers of strong flavors eg garlic, saltiness, aroma of veg oil and of course, numbing spiciness and crispy spiciness. My favorite dishes are: * spicy cold noodle * pork slices with garlic paste * shui Zhu yu (fish fillet in hot chilli oil) * hot and sour shredded potato * hui Guo rou (pork belly stir fry with chilli) * sweet and sour pork Apparently they have many off menu dishes as well so just ask if there s a dish in your mind. I've had egg tomato stir fry (mainland style) and tomato egg drop soup before. Lunch is about $120 a head. For dinner, it's $300 per head and depending on the number of people at your table, you get to pick a certain number of appetizers and mains.

Yelp
One of the better Sichuan places I've tried English menu, quick service and good food Of the dishes I tried, cold noodle appetiser was my favourite. Overall, good all around and prices reasonable Wasn't difficult to find and didn't need a reservation Only takes cash

Yelp
This is the first Sichuan restaurant I've tried in HK (so I'm not really sure how this compares to other Sichuan restaurants), but it is authentic! As the other Yelper mentioned, this restaurant's style is like private dining. Instead of your regular full menus, their entire menu is on a one-sided piece of paper. It works like this: it is $300 HKD per person, and for a table of 2-3 people, you get to pick 2 appetizers and 3 main courses (4 main courses for a party of 3). Each additional main course costs $100 HKD. For larger parties, the price per person is still the same, but the number of dishes you get increases. The food was pretty authentic. You taste and feel the numbing Sichuan peppercorns in their dishes. These were the dishes we ordered: Sliced spiced beef and tripe (appetizer; 夫妻肺片) - It was good! Cold edible tree fungus (appetizer) - A good balance between vinegar and soy sauce in the wood ear mushrooms Sautéed chicken cartilage with spicy red chill (main course; 辣子雞軟骨) - This was delicious! They twisted the original dish (made with small pieces of chicken and bone) with chicken cartilage instead. The cartilage is then stir fried with lots of peppercorns and dried chili peppers. You basically get a dish piled high full of chilis, and you dig through the dish to find the small pieces of chicken. The chicken cartilage had a crunchy texture and it was quite fragrant. Fish with preserved vegetables (main course; 酸菜魚) - Authentic and yummy! Stir fried bean threads with ground pork (main course; 螞蟻上樹) - Literally meaning "ants climbing up a tree", this dish was overly salty for our liking. Too bad. Sautéed shredded potatoes in spicy and sour sauce (main course; 酸辣土豆絲) - The potato slices weren't thin enough for my liking, and the dish would have been better if the potato slices were less starchy. This one's a miss. All in all, this place serves up authentic Sichuan dishes. Although some of the dishes could have been better, they make up for it by executing the good ones really well! Note: Cash only and don't expect a good ambiance. When you walk into the restaurant, you won't find a reception of any sort, but just tables. Heck, I don't even think I saw a sign above their door. Their service is really friendly though!

Yelp
private dining house but not that impressive if comparing to mainland. expected more sichuan spice and flavors but a bit disappointing. back again to try. cold noodle not that spicy but flavor ok, sliced beef a bit salty, fried chicken (bits too small), water boiled fish (noodle was good), mapo tofu, shredded potatoes, fried shrimps were nice.
