"In such a casual dining neighborhood, Silverlake Bistro almost feels like a special occasion meal. That’s not because it’s expensive or needlessly fancy. But their wallpaper is cute and they have a menu of great bistro dishes like mussels and grilled bread, steak frites, and one of the best burgers in town (which you should absolutely add bacon to). This is one of those neighborhood spots where you’ll want to become a regular, both because the service is so friendly and because that burger is worth eating on a weekly basis." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo
"This is a good one to seek out if you're sick of smashburgers. It consists of two un-smashed patties, lots of melted cheddar, porcini mayo, and strips of thick bacon, which are “optional”—but, in our opinion, essential. Another great thing about this burger: it comes with a big pile of crispy, skinny fries. There’s an option to make them truffle fries, and we can’t think of a more satisfying way to spend a few dollars." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino
"This is the perfect place to slowly ease the grip that Hillstone has over the man who raised you. A lot of the dishes here are familiar American classics. The service makes you feel taken care of, and the restaurant is just nice enough for a mild celebration (but not so nice that dad will pace back and forth for hours before dinner, wondering what shirt he should wear). The harder decision for him will be what to order. The double cheeseburger (urge him to add bacon) is something he will bring up to friends for the next six months. The steak frites is also excellent, as is the gnocchi seared in duck fat. Dads love when things are seared in fat." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo
"This cozy Normandy Isles neighborhood spot offers American fare with French accents, but regulars come for its decadent burger and fries. Featuring two patties, cheddar, bacon, porcini mayonnaise, and steak sauce, it’s great to share with a friend or enjoy alone with a glass of cabernet sauvignon. Best for: Date night with a burger lover" - Stacy Moya
"Silverlake’s burger is quite tall thanks to its double patties, and it gets even more height if you add the strips of thick bacon, which we endorse. This is also a great one if you’re a little sick of the whole american cheese/onions/ketchup flavor profile. Silverlake shirks that in favor of melted cheddar and porcini mayo. Another great thing about this burger: it comes with a big pile of crispy, skinny fries. There aren’t enough skinny fries in Miami, in our opinion." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo
