Are These London Restaurants Worth The Hype?

"Verdict: A useful spot to know about if you get your order right, but not everything hits. All butterscotch yellow walls, mint-green tiles, and retro checkerboard floors, Singapulah on Shaftesbury Avenue is a pretty place to pop in for a decent plate of food. The menu changes to spotlight different suppliers—get the creamy laksa, the bouncy shui jing dumplings, and the wonton mee with cold-busting pork broth if it’s on, but skip the nasi lemak. Follow that formula, and this Singaporean, walk-in only spot is a solid bet for a central London meet-up and pre-show meals. " - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak, jake missing

Singapulah - Review - Soho - London - The Infatuation

"Singapulah isn’t perfect: the service is like an off-the-lead spaniel, friendly but chaotic, and some dishes are misses. But if you know what to order, this Singaporean spot is a solid bet for a central London meet-up and pre-show meals. For now, this joint venture between the Singapore Tourism Board and the people behind Rasa Sayang, is walk-in only. So if you arrive after 6pm, expect to join the crowd enviously peering in at families dunking luncheon meat fritters. photo credit: Rob Billington photo credit: Rob Billington" - Sinéad Cranna

This is a pretty good representation of Singaporean chinese food. Everything we ordered was delicious. Definitely try the Kueh Pie Tee, it’s a really nice starter. Their char kuey teow is one of the best in UK, full of wok hey. Definitely the place to go if you miss Singapore food. The staff are great as well and the restaurant is air conditioned.

A nice place and vibe. Food was service was good. They were very attentive as they kept refilling our water. Best dish was the char kway toew. Sambal seafood fried rice was also good, but it didn’t hit as hard with the flavours. The braised tofu clay pot was nice comfort dish. Prices are reasonable for the location. Would definitely come back to try some more dish’s.

Had a lovely time here (been wanting to go for a while now!), food was tasty, love the decor and the staff were welcoming! Our server Michael was witty, helpful and made good conversation. We had a lovely view of west and from our booth also - can recommend

Very delicious food. I'd never tried Singaporean food before, but I absolutely loved everything! I recommend the seafood fried rice! My favorite was the coconut shake. It has coconut ice cream and coconut water. It's amazing! I highly recommend trying it. ✨

Singapulah? More like Singa-pore me another drink! Delicious fodder and beverages at Singapulah following my trip to see 'A man for all seasons' at the Harold Pinter. My dining partner indulged in a seafood egg fried rice thing and I got the char keay teow - a fantastic feed! The atmosphere, service, and food at Singapulah were top class. We were given free drinks by the lovely staff who were extremely amenable and responsive to any requests and requirements raised by members of my dining party. I'd thoroughly recommend Singapulah and would have no hesitation in encouraging people of any age, gender or religion to dine at this fine establishment. Delightful stuff truly.

As a Singaporean I was quite excited to finally try this place, but perhaps I had too high expectations. The chilli bao buns were not bad, but filling was not substantial and bit too dry. Would have liked the chilli crab gravy to be oozing out when I bit into it. Beef hor fun: portion size was small, and plate is too big so doesn't do it any more justice. No vegetables, usually beef hor fun has some green leafy vegetables. But very flavourful and has good wokhei. Bak chor mee was actually too spicy. Noodles were a bit overcooked for my liking and sauce didn't have that umami braised mushroom flavour that I'd get back home. Overall prices are steep for the food standard, but ambience is nice. Would not go back unfortunately

On the way back to our hotel, we passed by this charming vintage-style restaurant, Singapulah. The aesthetic instantly caught our eye, so we decided to give it a try. The food was decent, though we still prefer the original flavors back in Singapore 😊. What really stood out was the interior — beautifully designed and full of character. Big kudos to the designer! 😊

Not another Chinese restaurant but one that celebrates the diverse cuisine in Singapore. Judging by the high % of Asian diners, it must be very authentic. Singaporean produce is featured on rotation and may also be purchased. Quick, efficient, and friendly service. Booking is recommended for busy periods. Well worth a visit 👍
