New American spot for bites, cocktails & beer on tap is outfitted in neutral hues & chic decor.
"Single Shot is one of our favorite Capitol Hill date night spots—not just because it’s far removed from the noise and hot dog cart smells of Pike/Pine, but also because the dining room is attractive, there’s a big marble bar, and everything on the menu, from the cold potato and crab salad to the seared steak to the margherita flatbread with prosciutto, is excellent. Pull up a seat at the bar, order a bottle of sparkling wine, and know there’s no possible way to screw this up." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley
"Away from the post-adolescent buzz of the Cal Anderson Park area, Single Shot feels like a place for grown-ups: marble, mirrors, a cocktail list to rival the food menu. That menu, by the way, is an impressive run through of contemporary Pacific Northwest cuisines, with lots of flourishes from Asia: the braised cabbage that makes a bed for the pork chop is a slightly sweet treat. Dishes rotate with the seasons, but a mainstay you should order is the focaccia, a tower of bread that pairs incredibly with the intensely umami black garlic butter. –Harry Cheadle" - Sophie Grossman
"Single Shot is perfect if you want a last-minute dinner that feels like you actually put effort into planning it. They take reservations, the mirror-backed marble bar is beautiful, the small plates are great, and the servers are super friendly. You really can’t go wrong with sparkling wine and margherita flatbreads." - aimee rizzo
"Single Shot is a versatile spot that works well for a third or fourth date. You can wear nice clothes and gaze into each other’s eyes over a candle and ignore the fact that the couple next to you is decked out in clothes from REI. We especially like sitting at the bar here, where you might get a glass of sparkling rose on the house. What you can definitely count on is an excellent dinner involving flatbreads, salads, and seared meats." - aimee rizzo
"File Single Shot under your “romantic secret weapons.” The whole establishment is just one small room with a marble bar and a candle on every table, and the subdued moodiness makes you feel far removed from the sidewalk-shaking bass drops of Pike/Pine. Plus, it’s always easy to book a table. Grab some cocktails and small plates, including the great margherita flatbread topped with prosciutto. Or, if you’re feeling really romantic, spring for a bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape alongside a New York strip with red wine sauce and mashed potatoes, while passionately promising never to leave the fridge water pitcher empty ever again.
