The Best Holiday Gifts From NYC Restaurants

"Pepper Sauce, $14 A jar of spicy pepper sauce from this iconic Caribbean restaurant in East Harlem is basically the simplest way to make your repetitive weeknight dinners taste like they love you again. The sauce is made with a ton of scotch bonnet peppers, and it’s great for any jerk dish you’re cooking at home (although, it’s hard to beat the jerk chicken and curries from Sisters)." - hannah albertine

Where to Find Excellent Caribbean Food Around New York | Eater NY

"At Sister’s in East Harlem, locals know to grab seats before the curry chicken and jerk dishes sell out — because they often do. A slice of lemon pound cake or carrot cake are perfect meal enders. Those who come for breakfast will encounter Guyanese provisions, the traditional dish of steamed cassava, eddo, plantains, and yam (also available with codfish)." - Korsha Wilson

Stopped by Sisters Caribbean Cuisine for their lunch specials and was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful and satisfying the meal was. I tried both the jerk chicken and the chicken curry, each served with a rice and seasoned cabbage. Service was quick and friendly, making it a great spot for a weekday lunch. I’ll be trying the oxtail next time. Ah! It’s cash or Zelle payment only.

On a sightseeing trip through New York, we happened upon this place for dinner. And I have to say, we were pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent. We were also warmly welcomed by the owner and had a great conversation with her. A lovely woman who we will always remember fondly! Greetings from Germany and hopefully we see you soon again!! (The three Tourists from Germany).❤️❤️❤️

I placed an Uber eats order white rice in callaloo received rice and peas callaloo with okra. I don't eat okra. I also ordered a pan of pineapple cornbread I received two thin ass slices. Also ordered the pea soup with dumpling but no dumplings in the soup..$37.32 in the trash.

We got "lost" in Harlem and ended up at Sister's. The food was really delicious and, compared to many other American restaurants, the food here was freshly cooked. The Lady was so nice and told us about her trip to Europe, hopefully she will make it to Germany very soon. She gave us the menu as a souvenir of our visit, it has a good place in our home. I have attached a photo with my home village in the background. Best wishes from the three tourists from Germany and hopefully see you soon

I first came across this restaurant’s food at an event I attended. A few of their dishes was a part of the catering. Their food was absolutely delicious I had the yams, fried whitening fish, and collard greens. Let me warn you if their collard greens were SPICY. I don’t do spices. Even many of the people who love spices also stated it was to spicy. I was in the area and decided to order for lunch. I visited the restaurant in October 2023. I placed my order online so it could be ready for pick up when I arrived. I was disappointed to learn the fried whiting fish is only available through their catering menu. I decided to order the stewed chicken, coconut peas and rice, steamed cabbage, yams, macaroni & cheese, cornbread, and lemonade. When I arrived to the restaurant, I noticed it’s not a sit-down restaurant. Seems like you pick up and go. I was greeted by staff told them I was picking up and they let me know my order was ready. I was so eager to dig into my food. I was expecting the Caribbean flavors and was let down and disappointed in my meal. I even shared with my coworker for her opinion. The best thing out of everything I ordered was the yams and lemonade. The chicken was bland and had no flavor. The peas and rice was okay. The cabbage wasn’t cooked and still too crunchy again no seasoning/flavor. The macaroni and cheese wasn’t good. The cornbread was okay, it has pineapple in it. I don’t think I’ll return and if I do it’ll only be for the yams and lemonade. This didn’t taste anything like Caribbean cuisine. The portion of the food was also really small. My total was about $36.00. This location is accessible via public transportation.

The food was nasty 😒 I didn't like the food the curry wasn't mixed well it tastes very gritty.

I’ll never go back. Upon receiving silverware, we were given two damp napkins. When asked for a few dry ones, the waiter said brb, left out and went to the neighboring bodega for a handful more. Ordered the Mac n cheese which came out looking like it was scraped from the bottom of the pan, tasted very dry. The restaurant itself was hella hot and dusty. There’s an A in the window tho. I think the hibiscus lemonade may have been the best part.

Google
I get roti from Sisters whenever I get a chance because it is in my opinion the best roti I’ve had uptown.I have never had a problem with them but last night had me furious.Whoever made my plate clearly didn’t care to read and didn’t care about portion size at all.5 pieces of yams and only 3 pieces of chicken inside the roti.Oh and I paid extra for everything to be seperated but of course they didn’t do it.What I received last night was unacceptable.I am very disappointed.I paid $22.95 for this!!!

Yelp
For all my Harlem years Ive never stopped ate at sisters I would always walk past. Not for any reason it just always gave me sit down restaurant and when your a new yorker on the go you dont always have that chance. Family has recommended them to me and I wanted to finally try it. Ordered two rotis chicken and goat. Took a while but baby the wait was worth it. Some people just a roti by the filling, for me if you can't make curry then that's a big flag. The filling should be a given I only thing in terms of the filling I judge are the ratio of meat in your filling. The chicken roti obviously has more protein than the goat, but it wasn't skimpy. I judge roti but the crust aka the roti it has to have flavor and buttery and flakey. Sister had that I can see why there were so many roti take out orders. Sister is a staple not to be under appreciated.

Yelp
First visit, possibly last. Incredibly mid overall. Chicken with roti was $20? If I had known ahead of time, I wouldn't have bothered. The portion wasn't exactly sized for $20 and the flavors were just somewhere in the middle sadly. The roti didn't taste supe fresh and lacked that certain something. If you're going to charge that much, at least include hot sauce and a can of soda or something.

Yelp
I ordered from Yelp. The meal was done in the time Yelp said. When I got the food home it was still hot. I scootered and some of the food leaked but not a lot. It was wrapped in plastic but that didn't seem to hold all the way as I bent up the tin foil tin it came in. Overall, 7/10. Not the best and certainly not the worst. The oxtail wasn't too flavorful or fall of the bone like I'm used to. Coming off a 3 day fast, I wanted better for myself. The sides were better than the meat. The curry chickpea/potatoes were good. They could have been more spicy, 7/10. The callaloo was really tasty. It had chunks of okra which knew for me. I don't usually like okra but I liked it here. The callaloo was also spicy which I like 8/10. The mix between the two side dishes is really good. The customer service was ok as well. Nice gentlemen that gave me my food

Yelp
A rating of 1, doesn't do justice because the rating system doesn't allow one to vote in the negative. But if it did, -5 would be my rate!! My $20 spent on lunch, is worse than losing the money on the street. My order consisted of oxtails, rice & peas, and collard greens; I wanted the callaloo but my sister informed me they didn't make any; my sister was in the area and picked up lunch for the both of us. Now, my sister and I sat down to eat and when I opened up my container, I immediately told her the rice was overcooked/mushy and didn't look good. Not only did it resemble mashed potatoes, but when I tasted it, it tasted like unreal coconut flavored it, maybe extract????; I could only get through 2 forkfuls - IT WAS AWFUL!!! The oxtails were seasonless, camouflaged by a sea of brown grainy gravy. The collars - DEFINITELY frozen with no taste whatsoever. I noticed my sister only ate a partial of her meal so, I asked her if I could taste a sample of what she had - mac/cheese, rice/peas, sweet potatoes, and cabbage. When I cut into the mac/cheese, I saw it wasn't prepared correctly but tasted it anyway - that was a nope; well you know what the rice/peas was like on my plate... it was the same on hers as well. The yams were raw and cut up in small dices with some type of sweet topping covering them. I've never tasted anything like it, and believe you me, another awful thing to coat my taste buds. Sisters -- you've been in business for almost 10 years now and if through all those years, your recipes haven't changed or won't change, I feel it is time for you and your sisters to SHUT DOWN YOUR ESTABLISHMENT!!! I hope anyone reading this post, reconsiders spending their money at this restaurant because their food is absolutely H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E.

Yelp
I grew up eating oxtail in the Bronx, and I have to say that the Oxtail here is the best I have ever had. The meat is so tender, and the sauce in it is amazing, especially when you dip the roti skin in it. My friend got the curried chicken and the jerk chicken. He said the jerk chicken is spicy, but both were good. Sisters Caribbean cuisine is a must-try. You can't dine in but eat it at Central Park nearby or in the comfort of your home.

Yelp
Thought this was Jamaican spot this is a GUYANESE SPOT My order: curry chicken I'm walking In Harlem to my spot on Madison... I walk past here it smelled good, I thought it was a Jamaican spot.this is GUYANESE. This is a Guyanese spot. The curry was nasty a curry I never ever had before. It was nottt jamaican curry. Ate halfway through until I noticed it was something off and it was nasty.

Yelp
Yesterday My Coworker and I stumbled across this place by just being in the neighborhood. The aroma was amazing and lured us in.., We checked out the menu and to our surprise there was no wait. We have been looking for a place that sells (BONELESS) chicken roti forever... so once Sisters said they have the boneless ones, we knew it was going to be good. We both Purchased our boneless Curry Chicken Roti.. and man.. My mouth was watering on the way home. Only be very disappointed because the spices from the curry burned my mouth from the taste. To add to the disappointment the chicken roti should have been called a chick pea roti... Because i had 4 little small pieces of chicken inside, 1 potato cubes and an overbearing amount of chick peas... The Roti skin was NOT flacky and Soft. it was hard like pizza dough!!! Won't be trying them again... Imma take my Talents to CARIBBEAN STARR on 124th and Lenox Ave!!!!!

Yelp
This was a lovely takeout meal! I hadn't ordered here before tonight, so I decided to give it a shot, and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered a smattering of small paltes so I could get a good variety. The cabbage and carrots were fresh and crunchy, the coconut rice was aromatic and perfectly cooked. The collard greens had a bit too much garlic for my taste, but they were the exact texture that I wanted. The pineapple corn bread...well, I guess I wished it was a little breadier? It was a bit on the mushy side, but it tasted great. The star of the show tonight was the mac and cheese, which seemed to have a mix of cheeses and a few different textures - I got a bit of the crusty/nearly-burnt edge, which I always love. Thanks, Sisters! I'll definitely order again.

Yelp
it breaks my heart to leave this review. i am a native new yorker of Jamaican ancestry and I have been coming to Sisters for at least a decade and supported through the pandemic conversion to take out only. I've had every dish over the years: curry chicken, veggie roti, brown stew chicken to the oxtail. i've loved it for years and remember the original owner. I have to say my last visit on Friday 7/7 i ordered my usual dish (the sautéed codfish) was TERRIBLE. It was undercooked, bony, and under flavored- worst of all i needed to pick hard pieces out every other bite. i don't recognize the staff nor this food. sad to say i won't EVER be back, RIP to a legend.

Yelp
The most delicious chicken roti I've ever had. It was so good my friend and I finished our to-go platters right outside before we could even think to take a picture. Flavorful, tender, tasty in every bite with fresh made roti to pull it all together. The Sister inside was very friendly and I'll definitely be going back!

Yelp
First and Last Time I heard about this spot from a friend and decided to take a chance. Food: There was a lot of grease in the veggie plate and very little flavor (pictured). I didn't finish the plate. ‍ Service: The server's tone seemed a bit rude and not friendly I'm disappointed and really wanted to give this spot a chance (I wanted to support our black owned businesses). I think the owner should do a spot check on flavor, quality, and service.

Yelp
I've had food from this restaurant in the past which has been delicious. However, it was terrible today. I'm not sure if the chef changed, but I hope the food goes back to how it used to be.

Yelp
RODENTS BEWARE! This place has gotten so dirty in the last few years. It's always had a dingy feel to it. Old pictures. Peeling paint. Dust everywhere and dirty floors. They closed off the main area where you order and now have the menu with a large price adjustments on a table behind a makeshift wall. The place is just dirty dirty dirty. As I was paying, the guy who takes your order from a register 6 feet away ask if I want to tip today. Sir you charged me $46 to pick up 2 meals. Waited 20 min and came back only to see they forgot to add something I paid for. While waiting I noticed their cooking stove in the back has no light. There is now a large cooking oven in what used to be the dining area and next to it a rodent box. I asked about the rodent problem and the cashier ignored me and the cook said she's never seen the box before . Mam you can't miss that big rat box. Stop lying. Overpriced, dirty rundown restaurant. Definitely will never go back. Just no. I decided to leave. Didn't eat the meal I ordered.

Yelp
I was staying nearby, and it was raining, and I was hungry. And I don't "know" these foods (other than Mac and cheese). But I didn't want to walk far in the rain so ordered up Sisters' curry chicken roti with a side of Mac n cheese...and I'm so happy! My mouth is happy! It's absolutely delicious--just spicy enough to wake up my taste buds. The chicken isn't hidden by the spice. The roti is perfectly doughy and yummy. The Mac n cheese also yum. Will likely order from them again tomorrow...cause there won't be any leftovers today! But wait there's more: the pineapple corn bread...oh yeah. Just order it already. Freakishly delicious.

Ralph L.

Yelp
I spend $27 bucks on a order of oxtails alil bet a Mac in cheese in yams in the order came with 4big oxtail with fat on them in Dey taste terrible !!! Dey fell off alot will not be going back !!!

Tanika W.

Yelp
I was so disappointed with the 2 orders of stewed oxtails that I received via U***E**s. There was absolutely NO gravy in the container (and no there was no spillage in the bag due to the great wrapping of plastic wrap), the rice n peas was extra dry and the cabbage had no seasoning and was pretty much raw. Mind you just 2 weeks ago my family ordered a full pan of oxtails and a pan of rice and peas that was so delicious which is the reason why I ordered again today. (And the reason for 2 stars). I called the restaurant to inform them of my disappointment and was told he would pass along my message. Not that I was expecting nor did I ask for another order or any type of compensation, but it would have been nice of him to offer to an unsatisfied customer.

Yelp
Poor stars because I have food doesn't taste consistent and not answering their phones ever. I have had two dishes spill on the way while delivered and I could not get my money back or reorder because they refuse to answer their phone The callaloo is very good. But the Coconut rice and peas is a hit or miss. I have a feeling they have different cooks. There's a cook that uses a lot of coconut to make the coconut rice and peas which is absolutely delicious. But there must be another cook that does not use a lot of coconut and the rice comes out really dry and tasteless with the peas in it. I strongly dislike this latter one. If you order mac & cheese they do not put it on the side they try to squeeze it in to their small container which really pisses me off. My recommendation when you order from here is to make sure you always order the rice and peas if you are getting it delivered. The reason for this is because when I get my food delivered and i order a dish with no rice, the juice from the vegetable leaked into the bags and multiple times my food had fallen out of the bag before I can grab it. The rice will soak up the juice and prevent you losing your meal. Again, any dish with no rice , the juice from the veggies sips out of the container into the paper bag and by the time did the delivery person drops it off it either breaks out of the bag and the food spills. The problem with this is not only have you lost your food but they do not answer their phone so there's no way for you to actually get your money back or to get your food recent back to you which has happened to me a few times and has really pissed me off. Don't order the salmon. The fish size is not with the price. For tasty food, they can do better. I would give it a 5 if my coconut rice and peas was always moist and tasted like coconut, the oxtail was tender and they gave more meat than bones and my food isn't always delivered spilled. 3x deliverer handed me the bag and my food feel out from the bottom of the bag ... unbothered.

Charlotte A.

Yelp
I have ordered from this place before because the food is delicious . They have significantly reduced their portions sent me not even a full cup of lemonade and charged $8 for the smallest piece of cake I have ever seen. I am so disappointed I will never order from here again. For some reason the photos did not show up but I did take pictures because it was so ridiculous.

Yelp
RanDe of Sisters Caribbean Cuisine catered our May 2021 150-person wedding reception, and it was the best decision we ever made. When my finance and I sat down to plan our wedding, we knew it was nonnegotiable that we had traditional, authentic Caribbean food (oxtail/stew chicken/curry goat) as both of our families are from Caribbean countries. We did not want food that looked good but lacked flavor and the seasonings to which we were accustomed. We spoke to and met with multiple Caribbean caterers, some were out of our budget, and some did not think we could pull off our vision of having a sit-down dinner (vs. buffet style) for such a large group. By the time we came across Sisters Caribbean Cuisine we were only weeks away from the wedding. From our first conversation with RanDe, we knew we were in good hands. RanDe prepared a wide variety of dishes for our tasting, and we loved every single dish, down to the sides (callaloo, coconut rice & peas to name a few). He worked with us and our planner to finalize every dish for our cocktail hour and dinner and even customized some dishes based on our requests (curry chicken roti rolls!). Our guests were pleasantly surprised with our cocktail hour selections, especially the codfish fritters. The sit-down dinner was everything we hoped it would be, what any West Indian would imagine a Sunday dinner to be. The flavors were spot on, spicy but not too spicy for those trying the dishes for the first time. Knowing what a blur the day would be for us, RanDe and his team made sure our leftovers were packed with care and made sure our to-go plates contained a little bit of everything. Our guests raved about the food for weeks after the wedding. We would recommend RanDe and Sisters Caribbean Cuisine to anyone looking for an experienced, friendly, and reliable catering team.

Yelp
We stopped by here after Curlfest because we refused to spend money on food trucks at the park for fear of long lines and small portions. Sister's was not too far from the shuttle stop drop off for curl fest so it was very convenient to get to. Before I start off my review I'd like to if this was any other kind of restaurant it would have been a 3 start review BUT you know how the say if the Caribbean women taking your order at the counter is rude than it's going to be a great meal, well that's what this place was like. No one was flat out rude to us but the customer service was not great. The place is small so when we walked in every seat was filled ( more people from curlfest!). No one acknowledged my parties presence until I finally had to go up to a waitress and ask about a potential wait time ( they didn't have one ) We were so hungry we decide to just wait it out because it seems a party would leave in about 10 minutes. Once we sat down the tables were not wiped down, only the plates and cups were taken away. We heard the oxtails were really good so a couple of people in my party were going to order that, I wanted jerk chicken. THEY RAN OUT OF OXTAILS to the disappointment of my party. We all ordered jerk chicken meals ( it was really spicy for anyone that doesn't like heat ) All in all , I'm not sure if the volume of people coming in took them off guard. But the customer service/ experience was not great but the food is 5 stars. I'm willing to make the trip from NJ to Harlem just to experience the oxtails on a less busy day. I'll keep y'all updated.

Yelp
I tried so hard to come to Sisters', and it did not disappoint. The first day I came in the evening and they ran out of food. The second day I came first thing in the morning and they had to push their opening. On the third day I ordered over the phone for pick up, and pick up I did. I picked up some oxtail stew, some curried chicken roti, some curry goat, jerk chicken and some stewed chicken. Let me tell you, that oxtail was bussin. It was tender, melt in your mouth, and full of flavor. The other dishes were decent, some on the salty side for me, but I stan that oxtail. Paired with rice and peas and collards, it was the perfect dish. Sisters' is none pretentious, no frills, good home cooking. You get quality food with reasonable prices. It's a must try! (Just call first lol)

Yelp
This food is insanely good. I highly recommend. My order took a while and they had to sub green beans for cabbage because they ran out, I'm not a green bean fan, but they were delicious. I ordered Jerk shrimp and oxtail with collards, coconut rice , chickpeas and potatoes and greenbeans. Everything absolutely insanely delicious. Will be ordering again soon.

Angelique B.

Yelp
I've enjoyed food from sisters before but lately the food has been way too salty. also please wrap the Roti properly. a Roti should be wrapped tight with the filling inside vs just laying the filling in the container with a Roti skin on top. the traditional (wrapping it like a burrito) would make it easier to eat and more traditional

Meryl P.

Yelp
Horrible!!!!!! The worst roti I ever had. No one was in the place and it still took long to get my order. Will not be going back customer service was trash. I should of known better by the look of the place. My mistake it will not happen again.

Yelp
Note: If you read till the end I will recommend a better location that is worth spending your money at. We ordered via UberEats, I got a jerk chicken entree and my roommate got the curry chicken entree. We both got "coconut rice & peas", cabbage and candied yams. They forgot the candied yams for the curry chicken order. (Uber refunded it) The first problem is the portion size, which is honestly just a joke. We've ordered from a few Jamaican places in the area and I've never paid so much for so little. For the same price we usually get double the portion. Not at all worth the price!!! The jerk chicken hand a good flavor and was nice and spicy, but it was dry. The "coconut rice & peas" did not have any coconut in it. The cabbage tasted dried out and old. The candied yams were also dry but they had a nice flavor. Once again the portion was just a joke for the $2.20 extra they charged. My roommate thought the curry chicken was good, just too small of a portion. He also had the same comments about the rice and the cabbage. If your looking for good Jamaican food, I would highly recommend: Flavas International Grill. There portions are great (at least double) and the food is awesome! The price of the Jerk chicken is the same, curry chicken is a little more expensive, but once again the portions are much bigger. The only reason we didn't order from here was they weren't available on UberEats at the time.

S B.

Yelp
One of the worst feelings is being catfished by food. Not only were they extremely late, poor customer service, and couldn't take the initiative to apologize, the rice and peas were very soggy. The oxtails were salty and consisted of mostly fat. (apparently they wanted to contribute to giving me high blood pressure or early stroke). Where do I begin with the Callaloo. Absolutely bland and an unsavory color (grayish with a hint of green, I am used to a more fresh, and vibrant shade of green). The okra looked anemic at best. To top it off, they forgot to include one item I ordered on the menu. I had to call the restaurant and chase it down. I rarely write reviews, but this was necessary. Highly, highly disappointed.
google avatar

Aaron Q.

Yelp
Oxtail blew my mind. Super flavor!!! Ordered delivery, oxtail with the rice, potatoes, and mac and cheese. Everything was delicious. Licked my plate.

Alexandra G.

Yelp
Ordered off seamless but they gave me half of my order. The price of this food is not in a position to screw up an order where the customer pays a lot for the food and fees to get not enough food and to have to buy more food elsewhere. Never ordering from here again, its a gamble that you will get your order. I should have just got McDonalds or something.
google avatar

Alisha G.

Yelp
I WAS SO UPSET THAT I WAS FULL BEFORE I GOT THE CHANCE TO FINISH ALL MY FOOD. I ordered the curry goat (which was so tender, falling off the bone... perfectly seasoned and spicy), white rice, steamed cabbage and candied yam. Everything was soooo good. The portions were just right for the price and I got leftovers for tomorrow. I'll definitely be ordering from here again.

Yelp
my favorite place to eat, very kind and nice staff the stewed chicken and the oxtails are so delicious!!

Yelp
So so yummy. A go too for delicious soul and Caribbean food. First time trying their roti and am very satisfied
google avatar

Chevon B.

Yelp
I love supporting my people but I can't see coming back here. First of all the attitude of the hostess/waitress was not desirable. Secondly I came in for goat and walked out with oxtail because it wasn't ready, why isn't it ready by almost 4pm?! Do these restaurants not realize how much competition is out here?! Lastly why was there no toilet paper or paper towel in the restroom, there was about 5 ppl including me in there?! The dish wasn't bad but for almost $17 it was sparse. Did I mention I wanted goat dag nabbit ugh?!

Yelp
I stayed in Harlem and wanted to eat at a local spot. Sisters' Caribbean Cuisine was close to where I was staying, so I tried it out. The second I stepped in, I knew this would be a great restaurant. They had a small menu with all of my favorites. They've got Roti, Oxtail, split pea soup, and plantains. I wish I could have tried everything, but alas. I decided to order the jerk chicken with plantains on the side. My family ordered other food and I was able to try a little bit of everything. The jerk chicken was well-flavored and the plantains were cooked incredibly well. I was impressed though with their Roti and their ox tails. I don't often eat ox tails because it's hard to find a restaurant that knows how to cook them, but I found a place that made them taste amazing. The only downside I can find is that I came on a weekday when they were supposed to be open at 11 am. I'm not sure when it opened but I waited for about 10 minutes and no one ever came. There were a few other people who did the exact same thing I did. I'm not sure if it's a thing, but hopefully it's not. Anyways, would definitely come back!
google avatar

Lonnie B.

Yelp
The food is clean Caribbean cuisine, meaning it's not over saturated with grease or oil. The rice was perfectly made and the Chunks of sweet potato gives every dish a good tender flavor of freshness, the cabbage/carrot mix was bland but tasty compliment as a side, they can spice it up a little. The Oxtail stew was tender and juicy gravy, although the potion was only a few pieces.

Yelp
I live in Manhattan, and don't get homemade Trinidadian food often. Sisters is the first place to so satisfyingly fill that void for me - their food is excellent and authentic. It is such a comfort. Highly recommend any curry and roti and can't wait to visit in person! Thank you!

Yelp
Love this local Jamaican gem. Food always comes out hot and fast & usually is enough to last me two days. I don't like the way they package the food together. I'm typically someone that likes to keep my food separate so just be mindful when ordering to go

Yelp
***Pre-Covid Review*** Overall (4.5/5): Come hungry and leave with a full stomach and smile. Sister's provides all the Caribbean favorites and I highly recommend the goat roti. Food (5/5): The goat roti is a must. Soft and deeply flavored, the curry is just begging to be sopped up. The portions for this dish were huge. Atmosphere (4/5): Really spacious with adequate seating for groups of 5-6. Uniqueness (5/5): Great Caribbean food. Value (4/5): So affordable.

Yelp
I have eaten there twice, the first time, they had run out of almost everything on the menu and did not care to mention it. The server caught an attitude when I was going down the list trying to figure out what to get. When the food finally comes out, you would've thought the portion was for a child. The second time I went, I ordered my food and the host asked the cook if they had anymore left, the cook looked at me up and down as if she was debating whether to serve me or not! The cook then said " yea we have it". We got our food to go, when we got to the car to eat it, it was not what I ordered, I could not even make out what it was. My boyfriend and I ordered the same thing, Jerk chicken and the food didn't look like chicken at all. My boyfriend convinced me to try it and it was not even edible because of how hot it was. I wanted to go back in there demand for a refund but I decided to never go back there again!

Yelp
Little cozy spot in Harlem. Food was yummy! I had the oxtail with rice and beans and added candied yam. Also had their homemade lemonade and coconut and pineapple cake. The oxtail was sweet and tender. I'd have it again. Coconut and pineapple cake was not overly sweet. It had (I think) a little bit of rum. I'm not a fan of rum but the rest of the cake was delicious! Friends had the curry chicken and rice. Another had the chicken roti with veggies. We all cleaned off our plates. They ran out of a few things, like the callalou, red velvet cake, and some other sides. I guess I'll have to come back to try again. Yes, they take cards.

Yelp
I was looking for a wholesome, filling Jamaican meal and they delivered! I ordered take out of oxtail stew, which came with callaloo, candied yams, and rice. Oxtail: delicious! It was flavorful, very tender, and still meaty. Rice: I loved their rice. It had a hint of sweetness. It was your typical type and went very well with the sauce of the oxtail. Candied yams: these were legal crack! It's unbelievably delicious. It was sweet, but still had a strong yam flavor and kept it's shape. It was firm, not mushy. Loved these! I would definitely order sides upon sides of these. Callaloo: I don't believe I've had callaloo before this. It had a strong coconut milk flavor and a nice kick of spice. There was also sliced okra mixed in. Overall, I was very happy with my meal. It lasted me 2-3 meals. Can't wait to be in the area again to revisit, especially for those heavenly yams!

Yelp
Sisters' is tucked away on a quiet side street just steps from the bustle of 125th. It's cozy and laidback, with satisfying Caribbean food that will feed your belly and soul. The walls are very pink and the table service is a bit confusing (just go up to the register to pay), but you can't go wrong with a meal at Sisters'. Most importantly for the meat-averse out there: the veggie plate is fantastic! I dream about that creamy callaloo for weeks after each meal. The candied yams are a bit too sweet for my tastes, but there are only a couple cubes on each plate, so it's more of a garnish than anything. Note that there's a card minimum (unposted... maybe $10 or $15?), so bring cash if you're dining solo. Prices are very reasonable; the veggie plate is under $10 and drinks are $2-3.

Yelp
I absolutely adore this place. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for Caribbean home cooked cuisine. The inside decor and vibe are very warm and down to earth. Especially in the heart of Harlem it just gives you some really gooooood vibes. The jerk chicken was so well seasoned, tender and moist. All of the sides that we ordered were probably the best we ever had. We got these sweet potatoes (which I'm normally not a huge fan of) but when you eat it with the veggies and chicken... it's a perfect ensemble in your mouth. Oh and plus one for having a strong AC in the dead of heat. Life saver.

Yelp
This place is bomb.com! Ordered jerk chicken for takeout and it was SO good! Spice level on point! Rice with peas was fantastic! Get the yams if you want to balance out the spicy/savory, so worth it! Ate it at the office and everyone kept asking what I was eating bc it smelled so good. Easily going back here. Such a gem

Yelp
Amazing! Found this true gem, and am looking forward to the next time I return. The interior here is super cozy and warm. Makes me feel like I stepped into Grandmaw's house. The menu is pretty extensive, with a wide variety of dishes to peak your interest. I went with the Roti, which was absolutely phenomenal. If you like spicy curries, this one was on par with some of the best I've had! Others with me got the browned chicken, which also had stellar reviews. The portion of food you get here for the price is absolutely a steal! Come here, enjoy the open air vibes and get ready to leave FULL.

Yelp
I have eaten here many times and was always satisfied w my meal. Much to my surprise today, the shrimp roti WAS NOT worthy. I was appalled to find TWO MINIATURE SHRIMP in 1/2 a roti that was LOADED w chick peas!!! Really?! My curiosity led me to open the entire roti, and there were a total of FIVE MINIATURE shrimp. How disappointing. You can do better for $15!! I appreciate and respect small businesses, especially owned by people of color, but this....not acceptable or up to standard. Do better or you'll lose more customers.

Yelp
Omgosh this place is amazing!!!!! First off, Randy is such a cool chill guy from nyc and it's a family store owned! c: we got take out for our work because we eat together on Fridays at our office :) Food: goodness it was so good I legit devoured the entire plate! I got the stewed chicken and it came with really good portions! We also ordered jerk chicken, stewed oxtail, roasted chicken, and sides (candies yams, macaroni, plantains, and curry. Next time I really want to try the veggie roti !!! My first time trying Caribbean food in NYC, and boy this place got me good! 12/10 would recommend! It's nice to explore different cuisines and culture's flavors. the PLANTAINS had me shook!! (Such per crisp and sweetness) Price: it was very reasonable for the amount we received :) Next time I would like to sit in and see the store.

Yelp
I have NEVER had a complaint about Sisters' food. It is delicious. Hands down. When you order the roti, you can add yams to it for $2. It sweetens up the dish a bit, but it's not essential. The roti skin is just right and the stew is mouth watering. If you're ever in Harlem, do yourself a favor and go.

Yelp
I love this place so much but from the last 2 times I've ordered the portion size of the curry goat roti is much smaller. This is fine I just wish the price would reflect the change!! Love the food

Yelp
This place is right next to my school and I am very thankful for that because it is so great that I get to walk by the kitchen door every afternoon to smell the wonderful things they are cooking up back there. I have only really eaten here a few times, but I haven't been disappointed yet. I usually get a chicken dish, but have tried to oxtail as well, which many of my friends enjoy. Last time I got the Chicken Roti, which was great. It is like a wonderful airy pastry wrapped as a warm blanket around the seasoned chicken and other sides. I also clearly have a carb addiction so ordered it with mac and cheese on the side which is another thing Sister's makes to perfection. Oh and don't think you can leave without trying the candied yams...damn...I wish people handed these out for Halloween instead of regular candy. I usually go at off hours so have never really had to wait for that long like other reviews state so I guess I have gotten lucky. Everyone inside is very sweet and you can tell a lot of love goes into these dishes. The food is definitely not cheap though, but it will fill you up and keep you coming back for more!
