Slick Pig BBQ

I got the brisket plate. It was tough. No flavor. I expected a Smokey taste since it should have been smoked. Mac and cheese was too creamy for me. Felt like it was from a box instead of homemade. I love the atmosphere. It was fun. Banana pudding was ok. You could tell it was made the day before as the nilla wafers were soggy. Hubby loved his ribs but didn’t care for the brisket or pulled pork and he really enjoyed the potato salad.

The Ribs were GREAT! Baked beans also rocked! The green beans not so much and my corn bread was dry and looked like a small pancake. Service was very good. I would recommend the Slick Pig.

It. Was. Fabulous. The pulled pork was tender and juicy. The onion rings hot and crisp with thick onions. The coleslaw was excellent. The people very friendly and the service great! The lemonade was just as I like it. Everything was just perfect! Well done, Slick Pig, well done!

A very cozy little place with BBQ so good you can skip the sauce. You get a great portion for the price you pay and the quality of the food is fantastic. Highly recommend.

Ordered a plate with 3 meats. Brisket was gray and flavorless. Pork and ribs were fine. Green beans weren't special and my okra was burned. Disappointed based on all the glowing reviews. On the plus side, banana pudding and chess pie were good.

Very good smoked brisket platter. Sides were great also. Spicy sauce had a high heat that builds. Very good. We are normally not wings people, but tried them based on a friend's recommendation and they were very good also. Fall off the bone meat. I had a leg and it was delicious. The order and table service was quick and efficient. Overall a great time.

The smoked wings were delicious and so were the sides. I definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a good BBQ place. It wasn’t overpriced either.

Truly amazing experience at Slick Pig BBQ. Started off with a super friendly greeting and the toughest thing was deciding what to try. I ended up with brisket, chopped chicken, and sausage. None of the three needed sauce. Fillmore flavor, just the right amount of smokyness and moist. I can’t remember what I had for sides but I know they were tasty. The meat though, perfectly done. If you are in Murfreesboro and don’t eat here you have done yourself a disservice.

Best place for all things BBQ. When I travel to see family in Pennsylvania, I travel to The Pig the day before for BBQ and potato salad. The meal is not complete without Miss JoJo's fruit tea and freah coconut cake. If one is sad, upset, happy, or mourning, Slick Pig makes everything better. Ih, and Ms JoJo's fruit tea is extra special with coconut rum and coconut cake, promise. You will need to take some home.

WOW!!! You locals are lucky, this place is DELICIOUS!!!!! Unfortunately for me i live in California and may never have a chance to come back but if I get lucky..I will be!! Everyone was so friendly and helpful, from taking my order, until the minute I left. The decor reminds me that i am in the heart of the south, with a very warm feeling and the employees just enhance it all. This little Mom and Pops place is everything you're looking for in a down home barbecue. DON'T MISS OUT!!!

Some of the best wings I've ever had. There was a group of 8 of us for lunch. We found a table and ordered at the front. Service was fast and everyone enjoyed their food.

I'm from out of town, but I've been to this place twice on work trips. Each time I've gone, it's been with very large groups (30ish). The staff there has handled it so professionally each time and get everything in and out real quickly considering the group size. I can't emphasize the hospitality enough. The food itself is awesome as well. This most recent time I had the meat sampler and in order I liked the ribs, wings, then brisket. The brisket wasn't bad by any means, but the ribs were just perfect. The Mac and cheese is ok, beans and hush puppies are very good. I can't wait to go back next year!

My family loves this place. When the grandkids come to town this is the place they want to go every night. Just took my daughter today for her first visit.

Went here for an after graduation lunch. Had a party of 8+. It was a little hectic at first, because you order at the counter and then go to your tables, so there was a huge line in the middle of the restaurant. I got a smoked brisket plate, it comes with 2 sides, bread, and a drink. I got fried okra and potato salad. I thought the bread was just regular bread, but the bread option was between hush puppies, cornbread and something that I forgot. So I got hush puppies. My brisket was very moist, I even enjoyed the taste of the fat. The fried okra was bomb and so were the hushpuppies. The potato salad was good, but not the height of my night. For a drink I got the sweet tea, and THAT was amazing!! Best tasting sweat tea I've ever had!! I had some the next day in my to go cup and was still phenomenal! I'm hoping they have a website we can order it from Arizona! I tried my S.O. Cornbread and I was not impressed. It was like flattened mini pancakes, and I could barely taste the corn in it. All in all, I give 5 stars because everything I ordered, I highly enjoyed, and my S.O. Said the same thing. We had their fried pickles and they were also very good!

Slick Pig has ambience that other (newer) BBQ places pay designers a lot of money to mimic. Out of the speakers comes 90's country music. Booths and long tables fill the space and the walls have signs that would compete with any Cracker Barrel. Grab a menu at the door, walk up and place your order. The menu covers BBQ 101 items and the prices are fair. Pay, grab your number and a seat, and they'll bring your food when it's ready. The ribs are fall off the bone tender. Baked beans, fries, and hush puppies are all good. Portions are good. Given the food I tasted, I thought the banana pudding would be good. Sadly, I can't recommend it. Everything else was good.

Sides: fried green tomatoes- good, coleslaw- ok, green beans -good potato salad- excellent. Mains: pulled Pork- good, ribs- fall off the bone good, wings- really good...but why are people sleeping on the bologna? Bologna was so good. Service: Everyone was friendly and helpful!

I'm so disappointed. I thought this place would have been good based on the reviews. If it's not reaaaaaal smoker bbq I don't want it. My food was so cold and the corn break cakes were dry as all get out. Sorry but I what a waste.

While visiting Murfreesboro, really craving some great Bbq, I read the reviews of slick pig. The reviews seemed great, however, our meals were far less than great. The cornbread fell apart from the sandwich making it very difficult to hold. The chicken was ordinary... not tasty .... Not memorable. As for my friends' meals, same reviews.

had cold dry wings, cold hush pupppies hard as golf balls, but only the fish showed up when barfing. the plas is going down hill.

This place is a cornerstone of downtown Murfreesboro! Not only do they have the best BBQ in town, but everything else on their menu is amazing. From their fried pickles, potato salad, green beans, fried okra, cornbread, and baked beans to their fruit tea, I've never had a bad meal here. The service is always fast and friendly. With their awesome family packs that include a pound of pork and sides, Slick Pig is a go to for when I need an easy dinner. Do yourself a favor and stop at Slick Pig!

Stopped in to try it at the recommendation of a friend. The food is terrific and highly recommend. Definitely go for the chicken as it was extremely flavorful and moist.

Arguably the best Barbecue restaurant in middle Tennessee. Pulled pork and ribs are the big sellers . I'm a beef brisket fan and theirs is pretty good with a nice smoke ring at the edge of the large slices of beef. They also have fried catfish with hush puppies, slaw and other sides such as seasoned green beans, turnip greens, mashed potatoes or potato salad, macaroni and cheese,baked beans, cornbread or rolls , several desserts to choose from like homemade banana pudding , chess or chocolate pie, cobblers and coconut cake. Their smoked chicken wings are a favorite as well served with the bleu cheese sauce and celery sticks. Really can't go wrong with a visit to the Slick Pig as there's something for everyone to choose from.

I'm going to tell you like my friend who suggested Slick Pig, GET THE WINGS!!!! They are smoked , they are delicious and they are the only things recommended. When I ventured to other dishes, I was not as happy as I was with the wings! The people are nice, the employees are visible and willing to help.

Worth the drive. We usually check Yelp for ratings - and the #1 place was a chain restaurant - but we wanted a local unique restaurant. So we came to Slick Pig BBQ instead - the #2 restaurant at the time I'm reviewing this. And they did not disappoint! So much delicious food. The wings were fall off the bone. A mild and spicy bbq sauce to choose from. Restaurant was clean and staff was so nice.

Came here the other day after getting off work early. This place has something for everybody. We tried the pitmaster combo to split between myself and my husband which is what I recommend so you can try a bit of everything and then we also ordered a large fried green tomatoes which was the best I've ever had. It had tons of flavor in the coating and the tomatoes were perfect. The smoked wings are very good by them selves but add sauce and they get taken to another level that is for sure. My other favorite was the Brunswick stew that was very good. Ny husband loved the ribs and all the meats of course as they were tender and flavorful. Staff was friendly, plenty of parking and easy to find. We will be coming back here for sure.

The barbeque here is prepared in traditional wood smokers rather than the electric indoor smoker oven many restaurants use today. The BBQ here has beautiful bark, amazing smoke rings and tender, juicy meat packed with flavor that I would pit against barbeque anywhere. Matt leads a dedicated team, some of whom have been at Slick Pig for many years. Inside you'll find an open floor plan with great seating options, friendly staff, and that classic heavenly smell synonymous with great BBQ joints. We ordered a full rack of ribs, smoked wings, pulled pork sandwich, mac and cheese, fried okra, fried pickles, potato salad, hush puppies. We'll start with something that usually doesn't make you sit back in your seat and say "Whoa, this is terrific!". That item is the potato salad. With a flavor profile that is surprisingly complex and a perfect texture, I can truly say, this is the best potato salad I've ever eaten...period. The ribs had beautiful bark and that classic smoke ring and were packed with flavor, both tender and juicy and cooked to perfection. The combination of perfectly cooked meat that you can pull off the bone in chunks delivers eye-rolling and deliciousness that's next-level. The smoked wings were packed with rich flavor as well. Keep in mind, these are not crispy-fried wings, they are smoked wings that are both tender and juicy. The pulled pork was delicious as well however, the ribs steal the show. Fried okra and fried pickles are perfect. Hushpuppies are perfectly tender and moist inside. I like to provide honest reviews and to that point, we get to the mac and cheese. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, it's just missing that magic that everything else has. If Matt could get some of that magic from the potato salad over into the mac and cheese, there would be no item we've tried to date that is less than stellar! We wrapped up our trip with plenty of leftovers and grabbed some pecan pie and chess pie, both of which were great! One unique item you have to try are the fresh Pork Rinds! OMG! These are fabulous! They have two varieties, traditional plain salted and smokehouse. Both are great! Those leftovers - place them in a shallow baking pan into a preheated oven at 275 degrees for 10-12 minutes and they are every bit as delicious as when you first ordered them! Do yourself a favor and bring yourself and guests to Slick Pig BBQ in Murfreesboro for some lip-smacking goodness!

This was a fantastic spot on our long road trip. The owner came out and welcomed us on the patio with our dogs to make sure we were warm. Food was stellar of course.

So many choices, ribs , chicken, fish and even bologna. Fast service and everyone was super nice. They were super busy and all the food was hot. To go area and eat in had a country rustic atmosphere.

I don't know a family that enjoys Bar-b-que as much as mine. I don't know a Bar-b-que loving family that is willing to take a chance on a new Bar-b-que joint like my family. We did so today at the Slick Pig. Nothing ventured nothing gained. We gained today. The ribs were cooked to perfection and the sweet sauce was really food. The young ladies at the counter were full of southern hospitality and offered patient direction over menu. The Slick Pig is really worth the stop.

They have the best wings in town!! My friend actually had them cater her wedding and they did a fabulous job!

I ordered a ham for an event. I was asked if I wanted it sliced and I agreed. When I picked up my ham it didn't look anything like the ham I had gotten before. It looked like they had taken pieces of ham from the bottom of the pan from other ham that was cooked and put that in my order. The ham was not tasty and appeared to be from multiple hams and not the whole ham I had ordered. I was so disappointed and the ham wasn't edible.

Oh YUMMY, YUMMY, YUMMY!!! Bring the family and enjoy the family like atmosphere or take it home and enjoy.

Oh man oh man where do I start it was so good and flavorful I couldn't get a picture because I devoured the meat but let's just say that's the best turkey I've had.

Ok. I have to say something. This place is not good for barbecue. Most of their stuff is bought. The mac and cheese, is not homemade. A lot of their stuff is frozen that you could buy, if you had a restaurant. I have eaten it a few times and it is not good at all. I would rather starve than to eat it. Murfreesboro does not not have hardly any BBQ spots. People flock like it is the Last Supper. Spend your money at Jim and Nicks for fresh Bbq. It is awful. I would not recommend it at all

Worth every penny. This is the kind of place you go to if you want to taste true Tennessee BBQ. The wings, you have never had wings this good and smoked to perfection. The redneck taco, is exactly that, what a redneck would do if he had to build a taco. Way too much food! I got both cuz I had try some of each. The hush puppies are damn good too. Definitely check them out.

Dined on their dog friendly patio. Several of the staff came out to say hello to our dog and visit - Taylor and Morgan were very welcoming. The food was excellent! Overall a great experience and I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone but especially the dog lovers.

Moved to Murfreesboro from Texas. Tried three other BBQ restaurants and was about to give up and then found this place. It's on the opposite side of town and almost didn't go but glad I did. As a former competitor in BBQ competition I must say Slick Pig is a top contender and the best I've found in TN.

Delicious brisket, hearty portions, yummy sides, ofc delicious sweet tea. Prices are reasonable. Service was outstanding as well as appreciative of our business.

Memphis Native here. The pulled pork is the best outside of Memphis hands down. Sides were decent. The fried pickles were honestly the best I've ever had as well. Topped it off with the banana pudding. Very very very good. This is my first Yelp review ever. I will be coming back here regularly.

The sign at the front said take out to the right. The door was locked, and the people was standing right by the door and told us to go around.? This was $35 A full rack of ribs and 2 sides. It's definitely not worth it.

This place has been here for years and you just can't go wrong with anything you order. Great Lunch menu and fast service.

It's been 10+ years sine I've been here and it hasn't changed a bit!!! The food is equally amazing. The food is 5 stars!! The execution of a take away order pretty much failed. There were 2 of us, straight off the menu items, nothing complicated or special. Not only were the orders packed incorrectly - but while fixing that realized they forgot some the sides for one order and combined our sauce requests into the same containers. We had to prove they forgot stuff and requested more sauces. The sauces we received were labeled as hot, medium, and mop - and all looked and tasted the same. The meat and coconut cake were amazing. Overall execution was just unacceptable. Glad we checked our order IN DETAIL before leaving.

OK prices. Meh food, horrible sauce. Potato salad, fried green tomatoes were great, although very small portions for sides. Slaw was meh. Sauce is Worcestershire and maybe molasses or corn syrup- very odd flavor. Brunswick was awful- off taste and bland. Ribs had a dry, stringy bark. Pulled pork had no outsides, only inside meat- moist and seasoned. No smoke ring on any meats. Brisket was lacking seasoning, zero smoke ring. Likely usda select beef at best. Not worth a second visit.

I don like BBQ so it is always a struggle for me to go to BBQ places. I got a chicken sandwich and was very surprised to have flavorful chicken! I loved that they offer a lot more than just pork, leaving some room for non pork lovers to find something appetizing to eat. I loved the BBQ sauce.

Excellent service and delicious hot fresh food! From the bbq to brisket and wings were moist, cooked properly and portions were great! If I'm Murfreesboro I would definitely suggest stopping by slick pig for a family meal anytime! Great employees!

Had heard the wings were great so I had to give them a try. Got a plate of 10 hickory smoked wings, blue cheese, Texas toast, coleslaw and baked beans to go. I was a tad surprised the food didn't smell in the car; usually BBQ smells wonderful. Maybe I just had too high expectations since I had heard the wings were so good, but I wasn't all that impressed. Don't get me wrong, about half of my batch was great but the rest was simply way too dry. I get the whole Hickory smoked concept but it was rough to eat some of the wings. Will I try this place again? Probably. But I will skip the hickory smoked wings.

Everything was delicious! My toddler loved their Mac and Cheese! We came to visit family and they suggested this place as one of their locals spots. Definitely coming back! Love the down to earth vibe and they have great customer service.

This is my first time visiting Slick Pig BBQ. The service was on point everyone was friendly and nice. The lady took our order was so sweet, she is the definition of Southerner by calling us "sweetie" the whole time. Foods came out fast, juicy and tender. A little more seasoned would be awesome! Overall i like the experience i had here! Support local business

We went to SP BBQ because I really wanted some sliced turkey and Brunswick stew. Unfortunately the turkey wasn't slide, it was chopped. However, it was SO good! The AL BBQ sauce is hard to find but they had it and it was so yummy! The fried okra was excellent. Nice and plump and piping hot. I had my leftovers today and wish I had brought more home. Hubs had the pulled pork sandwich with potato salad and loved it. We will be back!
