Where to Find Terrific Thai Food in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"Go here for Northern Thai fare like its iconic dish khao soi. It features crispy rice noodles cut from a big square of dough that’s laid over a cloth to steam over a pot and then fried. The curry noodle soup is also topped with braised chicken legs and pickles. In addition to the North Park spot, there’s now a second location in Ocean Beach. For vegetarians and vegans, there’s a separate menu available." - Helen I. Hwang

North Park Thai Eatery Expands to Ocean Beach - Eater San Diego

"Soi 30th, the friendly Thai restaurant that arrived in North Park back in 2017, has just landed in Ocean Beach. The eatery took over a former Subway location on Cable Street with the intention of opening back in April, but the pandemic delayed Soi OB’s debut until now. Chef/owner Khwanta Osanai, who started cooking at a very young age in her native Thailand, is serving the popular Northern Thai specialties from the North Park menu, from curries and salads to noodles and rice dishes, including her signature crispy pork belly, paired with barbecued pork, egg, cucumber and a salty-sweet sauce, and a variety of vegan and vegetarian options. Open daily for takeout from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., the Ocean Beach outpost features menu additions including mushroom larb, nam tok, or waterfall beef salad, and Crying Tiger, a classic Thai dish of steak serve with a spicy dipping sauce. There’s also selection of grilled skewers, including chicken satay, marinated pork, and baby octopus." - Candice Woo

Cute neighborhood thai restaurant hidden in North Park. It may look like a hole in the wall, but don’t be deceived. It is so delicious! Decently priced and fresh ingredients. My girl friend and I had a girls name since we were craving curry. It was so worth it. Since its limited menu, you know the menu was delicious since the focus is on the food. Would come again! Great for vegetarians!

Loved the recommendations from our server last night. The Pla Fish platter and the curry soup 🍜 was so delicious. 🤤 The only thing is the space is tight outside. I know my next door neighbors could hear our whole conversation. Other than that it was wonderful. Will be coming back definitely !!

This place is awesome. I grew up in Thailand and this is the best it gets!! I got the khao soi and it was so good I could not recommend this place more. The owner is so nice and wonderful I HIGHLY recommended coming here for a good classic Thai meal!!

Google
Visited San Diego for a few days and was recommended this restaurant for some good Thai. And boy was it fantastic. The chicken curry puffs were amazing (GET THESE), as was their Khao Soi and Red Curry dishes, ridiculously tasty and creamy. Also got a Thai tea for good measure which was also delicious. Plus the server/hosts were super friendly. Nothing but good things to say about here, you should definitely visit.

Google
Smallish restaurant serving very good Thai food at reasonable prices. Service is excellent. Pla Pat Cha (lightly breaded fish fillet stir fried with eggplant bell peppers, peppercorns, and onions) has lots of flavors. Somtom Thai (Papaya salad with 2 shrimps) had very fresh shrimps. Morning Glory stir fried with tofu was garlicky and delicious.

We've been coming here lately and it's always great. Top notch Thai staples and interesting dishes you won't commonly see at other Thai restaurants. They also serve some of the best beers. Fantastic service.

Our go to Thai spot! My husband is part Thai and we have been to Thailand 3 times so we have high standards. This place is spot on! The flavors are bold, the spice can be adjusted, and everything is super fresh. We have been at least 12 times, it’s our neighborhood go to for Thai food. The people who work there are always so nice and thoughtful. We either dine in or take out and the food is great both ways. Fun, relaxed spot on 30th street. It’s fun to sit outside in the summertime since the area is bustling. Already craving it again and we just had it a week ago. The Penang curry is amazing with the crispy pork, khao soi is perfectly cooked, crab fried rice has a ton of flavor, and pad see ew with chicken is our go to. Also can’t do wrong with their Tom kha, the coconut is perfect in it. I swear if you are hungover this spot will cure your heart or just want to sit outside and relaxed. Honestly will probably get it again this weekend!!! Fantastic spot!!!

Yelp
(2 stars) -- Great food, but the health concerns ruined it for me. I visited SOI 30 with high expectations because of their strong ratings -- and in terms of flavor, they mostly delivered. The roasted pork fried rice was absolutely delicious, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Even the sauce on the chicken wings was tasty, although the wings themselves were underwhelming. But unfortunately, what happened during my visit completely overshadowed the food. While dining, I saw a large fluffy dog come out from the kitchen and lay on the floor. At first, I thought maybe it belonged to a customer. Nope -- turns out it was the owner's dog, and I watched him playing with the dog on the restaurant floor in the middle of service. It was shocking and extremely unsanitary. But it didn't stop there. A rat ran along the baseboard of the restaurant while I was still eating. I called it out immediately, and the staff tried to ignore it at first until I insisted. The same owner (yes, the one with the dog) came out and explained it away by saying someone left the trash open outside and the door cracked, so the rat came in. He said they were trying to "get it out." I don't care how amazing the food might be -- dogs in the kitchen and rats in the dining area are absolute dealbreakers. I left with a stomachache and serious concerns about this place's cleanliness and safety. I'm honestly considering reporting this to the health department. Sadly, I won't be back.

Yelp
I remember walking across 30th ST Monday through Friday for kindergarten and 1st grade.  Not many food options back then.  My favorite was Dairy Queen.  Now Soi 30th is here.  Cute small spot with indoor and outdoor seating. Won ton soup came in a fancy warmer to keep the soup hot.  Pork won tons had a nice pork flavor and it tasted like the pork was seasoned with some salt or msg.  I liked the carrots, cabbage, and celery.  Very good dish. Crispy pork had crunchy skin and a smoky pork flavor.  A bit like Porky's lechon.  Very good dish. 2nd visit I tried the yakisoba chow mein with shrimp.  I liked the noodles which had a nice snap and mild flavor.  The carrots and cabbage had a fresh flavor.  Shrimp had a nice snap to them.  What I didn't like was the bitter garlic flavor.  I tried removing the little pieces of garlic but everything had that bitter flavor to it. Fried chicken wings had a crunchy batter and delicious fried chicken flavor.  My favorite dish here. Lady in charge was very nice and got my food out fast.

Yelp
This small Asian eatery in North Park is located next door to a popular Chicago-style pizzeria on 30th St. Upon walking into Soi 30th, I noticed some quirky wall decorations that reflected the Thai culture. There was a small line in front of me, but it moved pretty quickly. Normally, I order a noodle dish at Thai restaurants, but this time I selected an appetizer of Thai Sausage and an entrée of Thai Basil Fried Rice with squid. There was an equal amount of indoor seating and outside tables on the patio. I sat at a high-top table inside and waited for my food which didn't take long. The sausage came out as sliced pieces on a bed of lettuce with onions and peanuts scattered on top. That surprised me because I saw a picture of this appetizer as three mini sausages each on a skewer. The meat was nicely spiced though so I had no complaints from that perspective. The portion size for the bowl of fried rice was small for the price as others had mentioned. This was another Thai joint in which the spiciness level was not watered down for American palates. It wasn't a big deal for me, but if my Thai Basil Fried Rice was considered mild, then the medium must be hot for those that like some kick in their food. When I left, the line to order had gotten longer. It's a good sign Soi 30th was getting steady business, not to mention the phone was frequently ringing for what was likely take-out orders.

Yelp
This place has some dishes not typically found in other Thai restaurants - such as Khao Moo and pumpkin curry so we had to try it The pumpkin is big, chunky and not mushy. The Khao Moo looked and tasted like that reddish Chinese BBQ sauce. I'm not a big fan of the Chinese BBQ sauce in general so this wouldn't be my preferred dish. The pad thai was saucy which is what I like. Then the mango sticky rice was great - mango is naturally sweet. Venue has a street anime vibe - could be better as it not as inviting but the food will definitely change your mind and make you come back .

Yelp
Service was excellent. Fast friendly and just impressive. Food came out quickly and it tasted fresh. Got the pad Thai with crispy pork and the flavor was delicious just enough sweetness with the spicyness. Noodles cooked perfectly. The pumpkin curry also was flavorful. The flavors worked well and I e of my favorite curries. The Khao moo kob moo dang was I think my favorite dish. The crispy pork and the roasted pork worked well together. The sauce that you drizzle over the top has some sweetness and balanced perfectly with the chili oil they bring you on the side. The Mango sticky rice was excellent. I don't generally like it but this was by far the best mango sticky rice I had. The Mango was perfectly ripe and sweet. The rice cooked perfectly. Ample seating inside and some tables outside. Small little gem that I think I'll be back again and again!! Try it. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
This is an excellent Thai spot! Street parking can be a bit tricky in the evening. We came at 6:30 pm on a Monday night and got seated immediately. The restaurant has approximately 6 tables in the indoor seating area and a similar amount in the outdoor patio. Our server was efficient and friendly. The food is amazing: - Khao Soi with chicken drumsticks - Flavor was rich and deep, noodles were the right doneness, chicken was nearly fall off the bone tender. - Pad Thai beef was sublime. The chef nailed the challenging delicate balance between savory, sweet, sour, and spicy. There was perfect harmony between the flavor profiles which is a rare feat. This is my new go to Thai spot and I am excited to return and try the pad see ew and yellow curry. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Decided to stop by for dinner here since they have dog friendly seating and I was with my pup. There are ~5 smaller tables located on their patio in front of this restaurant which makes for good people watching. Even though I was outside, service was still great. The servers took my order right away and checked on me often to refill my water etc. They also brought my dog some water and were friendly to him. I ordered the Khao Soi, which if you've never tried is a MUST if you have a hard time deciding between curry and noodles. Its basically a lighter curry soup with noodles and it hits the spot every time. It also included 3 hefty chicken drumsticks which is way more protein than I expected, and overall a a very hearty meal. I saw a few other things on their menu I'm interested in trying and I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Some of the best Thai food I've had in San Diego! I got the Holy Spicy Basil which was so flavorful and had just the right amount of spice. My friend ordered the Pad See Ew with tofu which was great as well.

Yelp
I cannot stand how great the food is here! This will melt your taste buds They nailed Thai food at Soi 30! From the outside this place looks small but like a transformer, there is more that meets the eye. The inside of the restaurant looks small but medium and one large group of patrons can fit in this restaurant. There is table service here and the service was great and there is an outside seating area. Some of the tastes of lunch included the fried chicken wings. Three words describe the chicken wings, DE-LI-CIOUS! If you are with a party of four, I recommend, ordering two orders of the chicken wings, we enjoyed the wings that much. The crowd favorite was chicken wings who took home the Gold medal for the taste, flavor and why we keep returning to this restaurant. I'm not discounting the Curry with rice, the Pad Thai or the Fried Rice. While everything was delicious, the flavor of the Chicken Wings and the Fried Rice stood out among the rest. If you were there, definitely deserving of all the praise. Well done to the chef!

Yelp
Soi is a solid place for Thai. Ate here on a Thursday evening at around 8pm (an hour before they close). I enjoyed their Drunken Noodle! The only thing is I got double chicken, but I still don't think it was enough. We also got a Spicy Basil with tofu, and there also wasn't too much tofu. Apart from that, the dishes were really yummy and had great flavor. We got a papaya salad appetizer and LOVED it lots of great tang and flavor with additions of shrimp. For our entrees, I like the spice they used, I got a level 3 spice as I'm always cautious at Thai places since their spice levels are above what I can handle! Even though the meat amount left more to be desired, I did take home a good portion of noodle, which I enjoyed the next day. We also got a curry, which has good flavor! The employees were really nice, we were the last party and they gave us some mango and sticky rice along with our fried banana wraps that we ordered. That was a very kind gesture!

Yelp
Hello, i saw this on yelp and wow what an amazing meal. I had Kao Soi and an appetizer of crispy pork with spicy mayo (came in a small plastic cup and lid like taco sauce to go (it was weird) all I can say about the food was, it was amazing. The soup brought me back to thailand and the crispy pork, well it's crispy pork. I think the majority of their business is to go. Hence the plastic cup for the mayo. I'm giving it the highest rating.Excellent soup.I'm looking forward to going back and trying more.

Yelp
Celebrated one of our dear friend's bday. There were 29 of us and we basically occupied the inside seating area. Service was great. Foods got to our table pretty fast. menu is made up of street food. Ordered the green, yellow, pumpkin red curry , larb Kai, lemon grass wings, Thai chicken wings. Foods ordered, everyone liked it . Excellent fried rice, ordered the crab and pineapple. If you have allergies to nuts, best to take extra step to check the dish brought in before taking the first bite. Ambiance : small eatery place. With friendly staff. Small outside patio seating area available as well. Price point: reasonable. Parking : street parking Take out order, chop sticks and utensils available.

Yelp
It's a cute small shop and we got: Chicken padseeew 2 Chicken panang curry mild (it's a family fav)- barely any spice but delicious, wish it had more veggies though Chicken pumpkin curry - it tastes pretty similar to the panang, which was sad because I thought it would be different AND there wasn't much kabocha pumpkin pieces My biggest issue is that it wasn't clear when I ordered online that rice is included with the curry (I checked multiple times) so I ordered an extra 3 boxes unnecessarily. I called about the order and I wasn't told it has rice either. I got one that was sticky rice and it was quite hard and chewy. Thought it would be softer and it was only a small portion compared to the regular jasmine rice.

Yelp
A small casual Thai restaurant serving up some good food. We were seated right away and got our drinks and food in under ten minutes. We got pad see ew that was a flavorful and had lots of broccoli. I personally like a more rich dark soy sauce base, but this was still good. The Thai basil fried rice was also good, but I felt it lacked a bit on the basil. Overall a good spot to check out and support.

Yelp
Disappointed! The young lady was super friendly & that was the best part, but the cooks messed up my order. I really wanted to like this place & it was my first time, but compared to the Thai food at other places in SD & in LA, I have to say I'm NOT a fan. They totally messed up my Pad Kee Mao. I only wanted ONLY the Thai Basil & Tofu. They put weird Green & Red Peppers & Onion (Peppers aren't even listed in the menu description, but she specifically asked over the phone & I said NO pepper, no onion, no garlic, b/c some places decide to add extra garlic if you ask to remove those other veggies, which I cannot tolerate b/c of Sulfur intolerance). Whatever is in sauces is usually sufficient flavor & I have a sensitive stomach as well. I know exactly how to modify my orders & it shouldn't ! be that hard to Keep certain items OUT of a dish. It was a lil too wet & too much soy sauce? I thought it'd be a bit more pan fried like Kai Kua noodle. I love Thai basil & that was my nain reason for getting this dish, so there was barely any basil & no taste of it at all on the noodles or sauce, b/c I got home abt an hr later & it just had the pepper/onion flavor? This just had a weird slightly salty & bitter taste & I just ate the tofu & I'm tossing the rest to the seagulls at NTC park later. The shrimp rolls were ok-shrimp was a lil dry, but edible. Tea was ok a lil odd-kinda lemony-hope the coconut milk isn't soured. I will prob NOT return. The inside was lively, loud & full of younger folks. I picked up b/c I'm not a fan of the loud NP social scene, but if you like that sports bar level volume, go for it. It seems good for extroverts The lighting outside is really too dark, so it feels almost like a hole in the wall. It should be better lit on the sidewalk & entry outside.

Yelp
First time here. Obsessed with Thai food. Got the Thai basil fried rice specifically for the protein (fried egg and chicken). Where is the egg???! The rice lacks flavor too.. dissatisfied.

Yelp
I enjoy the small shop vibes. Party of 3 rolled in around 5pm, with all tables available! We ordered family style: Tom yum, thai basil fried rice, fish sauce chicken wings, curry puffs and pad see ew. The food came by within a short time and everything tasted so fresh! Not your typical thai place. You can really taste the love that they put into each dish. We ordered with our eyes, and had some spare to take away. All in all, delicious, low-key and home-style cooking.

Yelp
Basically a hole-in-the-wall place with difficult parking but killer Khao Soi: Thai Curry Noodle Soup. It's definitely worth the effort to try an authentic version of this famous soup, especially on a cold day!

Yelp
If anyone asked for recommendations for Thai food, I include Soi 30th in the list. Since their menu has so much variety, there's a chance to have a new experience each time but you can't go wrong with the classics like Pad See Ew or curry! Small shop but there's an outdoor patio that allows dogs! There's no dedicated parking lot for the restaurant so we had to circle around the residential area before finding some spots a block away. Because we had a larger group and a handicap dog in a stroller, the worker was kind enough to allow us to sit indoors (since the patio wasn't big enough) as long as the dog stayed in the stroller. Last time we visited, we did family style but it was kind of rough because everyone just got a bit of everything. Our group was too large and we should've ordered multiple of the same things. So this time, we all decided to just get our own food. Everything came out really fast, which is always much appreciated. Crispy Fried Pork Belly: Solid appetizer! You can't really go wrong with crispy pork belly and it's hard to mess it up. Each piece is bite-sized and, well, very crispy. I'm not really sure what they add to the creamy mayo sauce but it doesn't taste like regular mayo. Ribeye Beef Pad See Ew: I went a little fancier and chose the ribeye beef to go with my Pad See Ew. This is a classic Thai dish and honestly, a great comparator if you're trying to find the best Thai restaurant in San Diego. I really like Soi's because they did a great job with the wok hei flavor. And the ribeye was really tender. You can tell that they used good quality meat! Mango Sticky Rice: We weren't planning on getting dessert but the worker offered us a deal. Buy two and get one free so of course we said yes! I only took pictures of the one in front of me but he plated all three beautifully and differently. Most of the mangoes were sweet but found a couple that were a little more tart. The stick rice was really good though! I love the warm rice contrast with the cold, sweet mango. Really enjoyed our meal here and will be back to hopefully try new things! If you check-in on Yelp, you can get a free Thai tea but the offer is only good for the table, not each person.

Yelp
North Park has a great Thai Food scene and Soi on 30th is included in that list! A free Thai tea upon check in? Count me in :) So far, their noodle dishes are delicious. They have a solid Drunken noodle dish and I liked their Green Curry Noodle. The noodles were chewy and bouncy and the curry soup was creamy and I loved the flavor of the basil and mustard greens. Their papaya salad was vibrant, but could use something else as it was more of a pickled taste. I also didn't prefer their choice of beef for the proteins as I found it a bit tough and dry, so I would choose a different protein unless you are looking for something really lean. I would highly consider coming back and trying some more options, plus the free Thai tea is enticing incentive enough.

Yelp
Food: 5/5 I love the green curry with chicken!! Whenever I'm in San Diego, I go out of my way to come here and get the green curry. I've tried other green curry and the flavor and richness does not compare. Their serving size is great too, I walk away super full with leftovers. Tried the mango sticky rice and it was very yummy, can't go wrong with it! Service: 5/5 Friendly service, definitely has the hospitality of a small family run business. The man at the front gave us extra mango slices so that was a nice treat :) Ambiance: Casual Nice and casual, there's seating inside and outside. Good to come here with a couple friends, but maybe not the best for a large group.

Yelp
In town visiting and gave this place a try. We shared the Chinese broccoli and beef, the beef was tough. We sat outside which was a nice vibe. The Thai tea was tasty. The service was good and the restaurant was busy. I'll try this place again next time and get something different. The sticky mango rice was delicious!

Yelp
Had this place bookmarked for the longest time and finally got to check it out recently! Came on a Saturday for early dinner and it wasn't too busy. Service was quick and friendly. KHAO SOI: Been on the hunt for some good khao soi recently since not all Thai restaurants around here seem to offer it. Soi 30th was one of the places that was recommended to me, so of course I had to order this when we came here. Theirs comes with 2 large chicken legs and a knife to scrape all that meat off with. Tasty soup and plenty of crispy wontons on top! THAI CRISPY CHICKEN WINGS: Crispy but didn't really stand out to me flavor-wise. Came with 5 pieces as well as some sweet and sour sauce on the side that you can drizzle on top. MANGO STICKY RICE: I'm not big on desserts but mango sticky rice is something I have a hard time saying no to. Theirs had the perfect consistency and sweetness and I was scraping the plate by the end! We ordered 3 of them for our table, and one of them was beautifully presented with the mango slices arranged into a rose. Tried my friend's Panang Curry as well and it was delicious! Overall, solid choice if you're craving Thai food. Located in North Park so parking can be a hit or miss depending when you come. Check in on Yelp for a free Thai Iced Tea, but only one per group.

Yelp
I came here with a friend yesterday for dinner. We ordered the fried tofu, which was just average--nothing bad, but I probably wouldn't get it again. I had the Pad Thai with roasted pork and extra vegetables. It was a bit on the soupy side, but still delicious. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. I ordered the Pad Thai at the "hot" spice level, and she kindly warned me that it might be too spicy. I appreciated the heads-up, but it turned out to be just right for me. My friend also really enjoyed her noodle dish. We'll definitely be coming back again!

Yelp
Three years ago I wrote my first review for Soi 30th - "I will be back" I'm pleased to update that I've kept my promise a few times a year - this is one of my favorite takeout spots in the area. It's consistent and delicious. They have plenty of options for vegetarians, too, making it easy for everyone to find something they will enjoy. My go-to order is always the pumpkin curry with whatever protein I'm vibing with at the moment; today, I got the lemongrass wings, which were also delicious. Prices are reasonable in person, higher if you go through a 3rd party app. I've yet to be disappointed by anything I've ordered!

Yelp
NOT MY FAV LOCATION (2 stars) Uhm. - FOOD: depends (at the NP location) - PRICE: fair - SERVICE: friendly - AMBIANCE: small simple eatery Of the 3 locations they have (NP, OB, PB), this is not my favorite. My assumption was I'd get the same amazing flavors their sister locations but I stand incorrect. Their menu is different (less) than their sister OB location and when I asked about it they serve mentioned something about them not having a grill(?) like the other location and the menus differ. :: ORDER :: PAD THAI WITH TOFU ($15.95) - Meh. The flavor wasn't there. The portion of my noodles was plenty. At first glance, something about it looked off but at could not quite put a finger on it. The pad thai was sauced up and at the bottom was a pool of sauce, I don't like saucy pad thai, I like it when it's just coated perfectly. Maybe it appeared this way because it was in a to-go box. After a few bites I was underwhelmed by the bland yet tart flavor - the tamarind sauce didnt please my pallet. Then it dawned on me, cilantro and crushed peanuts were missing. I also noticed in my pad Thai was a mistaken mix of pad see ew thick noodles and then in made me question about mixing pans and cross contamination (I'm not vegan or vegetarian but I'm curious for them). There were green onions but the overall flavor didn't pop-out like their other location (OB - which is my favorite). I ate it to just eat it because I didn't want to be wasteful but I'll have to pass on this place next time. I think I'll stick with their OB location because it has more on their menu and their kitchen executed well. Until the next review..

Yelp
Scammed my online order. I paid an extra $6 for pork belly and didn't get any. Also had a bone shard in my chicken.

Yelp
Small Thai spot across from Modern Times in the North Park area. Order at the counter, seat yourself and enjoy the delicious food. Staff were quick and friendly. Went for a light lunch and shared a crab fried rice which was super flavorful- would get it again! No parking lot, just street parking all around.
google avatar

Yelp
Very small place and you have to order at the counter, which I wasn't aware of at first. The staff weren't very friendly and acted annoyed while I was asking questions about the beers/ciders they have. I didn't enjoy my cider at all, Red Skies at Night, as it was supposed to be tart and it was incredibly sweet. As for food, the Shrimp Wrap was absolutely amazing as an appetizer! Very crunchy and unique. I would come back just to eat that again. The Wonton soup was disappointing and lacked any flavor whatsoever. By far some of the worst wontons I've ever had. The last thing I tried was the Crab Fried Rice. This was okay. The flavors get muffled together so you can't really taste the crab anyways. Honestly, I would come back for the Shrimp Wraps and that's really it. The staff needs to work on their attitude for sure.

Yelp
One of my favorite thai places in San Diego. The flavor of yellow curry and pad thai here are unmatched. I find myself taking leftovers home every time since the portions are almost family sharing size and tastes amazing even as leftovers! Another key menu item to try is the pineapple rice! You have a choice of protein for almost every entree item (chicken, tofu, shrimp, etc. just ask). I dream of becoming a regular here since the staff are the sweetest and I always overhear conversations with other patrons simply catching up with staff or getting to know one another. Parking is always tricky and you will probably find yourself walking a bit, but it's all so worth it! There's inside and outside seating (it's right on the sidewalk so be mindful that you'll be a little closer to the street).

Yelp
I'm always down to try a good khao soi and this place passes the test! The broth was creamy and thick and they had two big chicken drumsticks too! I also got an order of the Thai chicken wings and they were perfectly crispy. I really enjoyed the sauce that came with it. I also got to try the drunken noodles with beef and the noodles were good but the beef was kinda chewy. I was not a fan. Don't forget to check in for a free Thai tea as well! This place is priced very well considering the prices of going out to eat these days. Service was good and attentive given that we were seated outside as well.

Yelp
Stopped here to try Lao food but turned out to be Thai food, which was fine too. Tried their tofu pad thai with mild spiciness. It had more sauce than the usual pad thai I've tried in the past but it was probably because of the region of the thai origin of that type of cooking. It was good also ease silky with lots of lime to cut the sweetness of the sauce. It had sprouts and eggs and peanuts. The lady that served us was really nice. She recommended a Lao place close by to try next time. This is a casual Thai restaurant at North Park area. Parking can be challenging here but we found one spot on the street.

Yelp
One of my favorite Thai spots in North Park area. All of their dishes are made so well and all taste great. Here are a few of my favorites: 1. Panang Curry 2. Green Curry 3. Papaya Salad 4. Pad see ew I personally think they have some of the best mock duck. Can't wait to go back and try more dishes.

Yelp
The food here was really good. Anytime I go to a Thai restaurant for the first time, I will order pad thai. That's what I loved to eat in Thailand for the one year I lived there and the standard to which I hold if a place cooks food that tastes authentic. The pad thai at Soi 30th held up real well to my expectation. The flavors were rich and very delicious and the servings generous. I took home my leftovers and made another two meals out of it, but I have a slightly smaller appetite. It was a little more soupier than I remember from street vendors in Thailand but it actually made it taste even better as leftovers and did not make the noodles soggy. It was so delicious my mouth is watering just writing this. It will definitely be my to-go Thai restaurant when the cravings hit from now on. Since my only favorite Thai restaurant closed in National City, I haven't found one to replace it until now and I've tried quite a few San Diego spots. The ambiance felt very much like being in Thailand and eating like a low-key local, which was nostalgic. I randomly chose this spot based on Yelp reviews and the fact that its name sounded authentic. "Soi" means street and I had lived on Suhkumvit Soi 71 back in the day. So finding a place called Soi 30th sounded genuine. I like how the vibe was created on purpose. Our waitress was really nice and friendly. The price was affordable. As a teacher, I can't afford to spend too much but the generous portions made it even more worth it. I hope nobody reads this so the place stays low-key and affordable but at the same time I want to give it its well deserved review. Two thumbs up!

Yelp
this place is so good omg. the food is genuinely so delicious, one of the best Thai places in the area in my opinion. tried khao soi for the first time here, and absolutely loved it. the broth was so rich, and the chicken drumsticks were so tender. my friend got the khao soi vegetarian, and they were super accommodating for her food needs! i also tried the pad see ew which was so good and fresh, would definitely recommend. my friend also got the pad kee mao and loved it! their portions are huge so we all ended up having leftovers to eat for lunch the next day. the place itself is pretty small and casual, and there's a spot to order up front. the staff were also super sweet too and answered all our questions. i would definitely recommend if ur craving Thai!

Yelp
I'm a local and live in the area. I've ordered from this restaurant a few times as well as eating there with friends. Tonight I ordered the green papaya shrimp salad (Somtum Thai). And when I tell you, it had two pieces of shrimp in it I'm not exaggerating ...that's all it had. I've had this before and it had plenty more shrimp than that. I called for the waitress and asked, "There are only two pieces of shrimp in my salad- is that the correct?" She then nodded and said yes. I don't understand how this could be a papaya SHRIMP salad when there's only two pieces of shrimp. Their food is usually amazing and good, but this experience was not.

Yelp
Loved Soi's! Came here for a later lighter lunch and shared the crab fried rice. It was delicious! They have a good assortment of chilis that you can add and it rounded out the dish perfectly. I'm excited to come back and try out their other menu items for a bigger meal. Located in North Park so there isn't a dedicated parking lot - it is all street parking.

Yelp
Soi is the only place I go to for khao soi. It is SO GOOD! We split a bowl and also got an order of chicken wings. Highly recommend trying this insanely good curry soup!

Yelp
Service was quick and the food was delicious! I got the pad see ew and my friends got the pad Thai and the roasted pork fried rice, and the obligatory Thai teas. Portions were also huge, I'll have enough for tomorrow's lunch too

Yelp
Delicious! The yellow curry and pad Thai are an absolute must. First time trying this place and I already want to come back. The paid Thai had the best flavor. I got the medium spice and it for sure had a kick. This is now my go to Thai spot! Open on Labor Day and super quick service.

Yelp
Great service and food! We had pad that and a curry dish and they were both delicious!

Yelp
Ordered delivery and specifically added utensils at checkout since I was onsite. Order came with no utensils so I had to go on a quest to find some. Crispy pork belly laab - pork was not crispy at all. Some pieces were jaw breaking hard to chew. Also didn't come with mint like mentioned in the menu. Cmon guys, it's just mint, throw a little down to elevate the flavors.

Yelp
Food is delicious and flavorful. Absolutely love their khao soi. Seems to be the best I have had in San Diego (so far). Portion is plenty. Service is good. Definitely the best thai spot in NP.

Yelp
My fiance is still on the quest to look for the best local spot for Khao soi. He has previously tried Soi 30th and was so excited to take me there. He ordered medium-spicy khao soi with braised chicken drumstick and I got the Thai Basil fried rice with an addition of crispy pork belly and fried egg. Service - quick and fast! Our food came out in just about five minutes or so Serving - probably one of the largest servings we've had in a while. The bowls were enormous and each dish can easily be split. Definitely worth the price. Khao soi - creamy and rich broth. It looks lacking in color at first glance but that doesn't translate to the taste. It came with two braised chicken drumsticks (so generous!) -- something you'd be hard pressed to find in other Thai restaurants that only usually serve chopped chicken. Noodles can be more al dente as per my fiance but they were fine for me. Thai basil fried rice - the egg was overcooked at first but they gladly recooked it to be runnier for me. The rice itself is flavorful and saucey and the addition of the pork belly made it even more amazing! I would order this dish again if I need something filling.

Yelp
Always happy when I'm here! We decided to bring our oldest daughter here for the first time. The decor and space is cute, open and airy. There's also a good little outdoor patio to sit and eat too if you want to. Service is always good and food always comes out rather quickly. We all got our faves and were not disappointed at all. Again, it was my daughter's first time so she ordered what she would typically get at any Thai restaurant. She ordered shrimp pad see ew with zero spice and fried pork belly and chicken wings. I ordered my fave, khao soi and Hubz ordered chicken pad Thai level 4. The appetizers were so good! Crispy and crunch pork belly and chicken wings with a side of sticky rice. Like that's just straight up comfort food! Shrimp pad see ew - "Mom, there are so many shrimp!!!" If I remember correctly, my daughter counted 12 shrimp in her noodles! She said this shrimp pad see ew is her favorite and was delicious! Khao Soi - DELICIOUS, and that is why I order it every single time. Yummy curry broth base, two chicken stump sticks, egg noodles, crunchy egg noodles as garnish with sliced onions, cilantropickled mustard greens and lime wedge. Chicken pad Thai - another favorite in our house! Even though this dish is a regular at all Thai restaurants, the one here always blows my husband away. He loves it! Soi 30th is probably one of our fave quick Thai restaurants and always a treat when we are in the area. Always looking forward to going back!
