"Run by Adam Dahlberg and Albin Wessman of Michelin-starred Adam & Albin, Solen is a large, welcoming venue in the meatpacking district. The menu takes inspiration from the chefs’ many trips to Los Angeles, as well as cuisines around the world. The dining room, which is outfitted with a high ceiling and an open kitchen, holds almost 150 seats, making it a great place to dine with a group." - Per Styregård

"If there's such a thing as ‘industrial elegance’, then they’ve found it at this bang on-trend spot in the city’s meat-packing district. Exposed wires and concrete pillars combine with white tablecloths in a chic space that’s proving hugely popular with Stockholm’s diners. It’s owned by the experienced operators behind Adam / Albin and is an impressively well-run place; the cooking borrows from around the world, including small selections of tacos and wood-fired pizzas. On a cold day, sit round the impressive fire-lit chimney." - Michelin Inspector

We ordered prosciutto pizza and the cod and shrimp main with a side of cauliflower. The food was good, but a bit pricey for what you got. The atmosphere and vibe is the restaurant is great, but the room is quite loud and echoed. We (party of 2) were seated at a shared table next to larger groups -- so maybe not the best choice for small groups.

To celebrate my father-in-law’s birthday, we planned to dine at Solen, but they were fully booked. After being waitlisted for two weeks, we finally received a slot. However, due to a technical issue, I couldn’t complete the booking. When I called the restaurant, Anton was incredibly helpful and secured our reservation after I provided my credit card details. The dinner itself was both a visual and culinary delight. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, which was especially helpful since the menu was entirely in English, and my in-laws primarily speak Swedish. Some international culinary terms, like "saltimbocca," "txistorra," and "ras el hanout," were unfamiliar to them, so we relied on Google for clarification. As a vegetarian, I was pleased with the variety of options. Although the portions were on the smaller side, they were surprisingly filling. I’m still dreaming about the beet and fennel tajine — it was absolutely delicious. I also highly recommend the cauliflower with romesco sauce. In fact, all ten dishes we tried were phenomenal. We appreciated that our water glasses were constantly refilled and that our server checked on us regularly without being intrusive. One area for improvement would be to offer a bilingual menu, and the front desk experience could have been warmer. The two men at reception were somewhat intimidating and seemed disinterested in assisting with check-in.

We stayed five days in Stockholm. We tried many restaurants from cheap eats to a two star restaurant. Only three we would go back to. This is one of them because of its quality value. The place is relaxed, fun and tasteful. We tried the crispy Caesar squid tempura. Unique and great. The beef tartare served with a wonderful oven hot bread is delicious. The main dish of tacos of carnitas hit the spot. With the most reasonable wine list in Stockholm. Also they have one of the coolest clocks.

Very recommendable place just outside Stockholm city centre. Sharing platters with a lot of love.

Outstanding! Welcoming, great and knowledgeable staff, very good wine list extremely adapted to the food. It is good to listen to staff recommendations. Some dishes rate 11 out of ten and others 8,5/10. Atmosphere 11/10. Will come again I'd love to get a feeling of this place a warm summer evening.

Food is just alright - very small portion. We love the pistachio tiramisu tho! And the drinks are pretty good. But the best thing is the vibes in the restaurant and around the area. Cool hippie area.

For an extraordinary culinary experience coupled with a unique interior from a former slaughterhouse, this is the place to visit. It stands out as one of the most prominent restaurants in Stockholm. The standout items during this lunch were the hummus and pasta, complemented by a diverse selection of quality wines. While the staff was extremely friendly, a touch more professionalism and education could enhance the experience, though that's just a personal preference. Overall, I highly recommend it and plan to return!

Solen attempts to bring the Mediterranean to Stockholm, and does so with ease! Deep fried calamari, fresh salads, extravagant pastas and meets grilled over open fire. Those are only a handful of the many dishes served at Solen, all presented beautifully and tasting even more so! As someone who isn’t big on deserts, I was surprised to say that the desserts were the best part for me. Borge the crème brûlée and the sticky toffee pudding where to die for! For drinks there is a wide range of wines to choose from, with labels from all over the world, however, with a focus in wines from the Mediterranean coast. I had a glass of Assyrtiko which went especially nice along with the calamari’s and tostadas, making me feel like I was sitting in a seaside somewhere! The service was very professional, but unfortunately I lacked a little bit of a personal touch from the front of house. The service wasn’t bad by any means, but a touch of more personality would help bring everything to the next level. The open and minimalist dining room provides a really nice atmosphere, while also allowing for a view into the open kitchen. During some parts of my visit, the open dining hall proved a little to open though as thing got slightly to loud for a proper dinner conversation. Overall though, Solen had done a beautiful job at capturing the Mediterranean spirit in their food and drinks, proving that they know what it means to live La Dolce Vita. Looking forward to my next visit!
