All time favorite burger, a butter cheese burger, sounds insane and feels insane but is amazing.

My family and I stopped here on a weekend jaunt away, and my SO was excited to try the butter burger. We arrived and there was a short wait. This 'not-your-average' restaurant is built within a house and it's small, vintage dining space only seats about 25 people, where you sit and watch all of the magic of preparing your food happen. The wait was kind of a mess, as there were multiple families coming in and no one was there to greet or take names in order so folks were seating themselves out of line. We each ordered sandwiches and shared a plate of fries. The fries were hot and fresh, but nothing any different than what other places have. While the other two in my party really enjoyed their well known butter burgers, I opted for a BLT. I was a little worried after placing the order that I overheard the cook asking our waitress what a BLT was, and she had to instruct him on how to make one. Now, while I understand that this place probably makes way more butter burgers than anything else on their menu, a cook should be aware of the other options they offer on their menus. The plate looked nice when it arrived, but I felt the sandwich was drowning in butter and there was very little bacon on it. It was definitely not my favorite meal, but the others really enjoyed their burgers. So in conclusion, if you are feeling the urge to try a greasy, buttery burger, in a local, homely establishment, this would be the place to visit if in Milwaukee!!

All burgers are not equal. Solly’s are fantastic. Try the butter burger with cheese or one of the special variations. The fries are awesome and the atmosphere of a local eatery with friendly and engaging servers is comfortable. Top it all with a freshly made chocolate malt. Delicious!!

Wow! The butter burgers are so good we actually we went for lunch then went back again for dinner! James Beard Award winning most stop restaurant in Milwaukee.

This place is amazing! If you want the best butter burger, this is the place to stop. Staff was friendly.

Google
Im giving a mixed review because although the food was good (very buttery and crispy) but the atmosphere is a no-go for me. There are not any standard tables to sit at. You can only sit at the big curved bar which doesn't work for our family- we had our elderly grandma with us and a toddler, so high seats where we can't hear eachother just wont happen. My husband loved the food- but I'll never be back due to the seating situation.

Google
Peno burger (normal butter, lettuce, tomato) 5.6/10 Sassy Burger (normal butter) 4.5/10 Vanilla milkshake (8.6/10) Fries 4.5/10 Note to self. Ask for extra light butter or no butter. A normal amount of butter is a quarter cup of high quality Wisconsin butter that melts into the hot patty leaving your burger marinating in a shallow hot tub of liquid butter. It's just a bit too much butter and made me feel a little nauseous after ingesting the whole thing. I will still give the other burgers a try on my return visit

Google
Awesome burger place, with a lot of very cool history! Been in business since 1936. The food was great, the atmosphere was nice, the staff was awesome! My waitress was Mulanda, and she was wonderful! Very nice, and knew a lot of the history. It was certainly a pleasure meeting her! I will definitely be back for the Big Boy burger, the original I had today was great, but the big boy is next on the list!

Yelp
Love this local gem! Best breakfast in town! We always get breakfast sandwiches and the kids love the French toast. Amazing!

Yelp
Been coming for many years when I'm in town. Tonight it wasn't the same. Burger lacked butter even though they had a ton of it on the counter.

Yelp
I've been to Solly's a couple times since my first visit back in 2015, but never during breakfast hours. I finally had an opportunity to do so before work, so I ordered a ham and cheese omelette with a bagel. Since you can get burgers during breakfast, I also ordered their famous butter burger without onions. The omelette was ok, but certainly nothing special. I didn't love that it was a little runny on the inside and, without hashbrowns, it felt overpriced at $12.75. The buttery portion of the bagel was the best part of that plate. As I commented in my review from 2015, the butter burger is small and expensive for what you get. We're talking only a little larger than a standard McDonald's cheeseburger for three to four times the price. It's a good burger and I appreciate the amount of butter they use on it, but it's heavily bolstered by its reputation.

Yelp
This place looks a lot bigger on the outside. We decided to come in before a Brewers and it was already full at 11am. It's a diner counter style seating, and we had to wait about 10 minutes for some stools to clear up. Their customer service was great. The lady working there was awesome. Very cheerful and made sure you didn't leave without a smile. We started off with an order of their cheese curds and we all ordered their Original Butter Burger w/ cheese. Although I definitely should have ordered a double. They were on the smaller side but tasted phenomenal. Definitely a lot of butter dripping off this burger as well. The cheese curds were good but some were still cold inside. Will without a doubt definitely be returning.

Yelp
How can you not love Solly's from its nostalgic charm to its creation and innovation of the Butter Burger. You really feel like you're stepping back into time when you walk into this place and our waiter at the counter was super patient and made some helpful suggestions on how to navigate our orders. I also have to compliment how impeccably clean Solly's is too. We went ahead ordered the Cheesehead burger with easy butter. I wish they would have given me the Solley's burger but in a double, but they said they couldn't do that. Anyway, that 1/3lb burger on the Cheesehead was a bit too tough and thick and I couldn't taste much of the meat quality on it. However, easy butter is the way to go. I could still taste the delicious butter as it slowly melted over my burger but I wasn't having a coronary at the same time either. Even our waiter said every employee gets their burger with easy butter. The steamed onions were also a nice touch. All in all, I would call this burger the absolute best White Castle burger I ever had, because that's what it tasted like. I hate White Castle lol, but this burger made it seem like this is what White Castle was aspiring to be. I

Yelp
My first memory of eating at Solly's is 1972. I came here with my dad and brother during my sister's sweet-16 party. I've eaten here dozens of times and it never disappoints. But today!!!! - I will try the brand new double decker "Big Boy" burger for the very first time - Let's GO!!!

Yelp
We heard about Solly's and were told it was better than another burger joint we have been to. Of course we had to try it out then, because I am always down for a burger. Solly's offers a pretty wide array of things but we were really just there to try out the butter burgers they take pride in. Let's talk seating, it's minimal. They have two wrap around counters in an open kitchen concept, old school diner. We brought a larger party so we split between the two counters and that was only inconvenient because it was two different servers so we weren't able to get one check. So if you're a larger party, expect to wait a while for seating if you want to sit together or pay on one check. We ordered the cheese curds, and a few different burger options. The curds came out in a cute little fry basket with a small cup of ranch. They were good, actually really good. The fries came out before the rest of the food, which led to me eating almost all of my fries while waiting for my Big Boy burger. The fries were really hot and crispy, but didn't have any salt. Salt is readily available on the counter, but it doesn't really stick to a dry fry as well as it does the ones fresh out of the fryer. The burgers came out. The big boy is two 1/3 lb patties with a bun in the middle. I added bacon, because bacon. The bottom bun of the three bun sections was stout, but it had to be due to the butter pool coming off the burger (not knocking it, just calling it how I see it). The bottom of my bun had a large unmelted chunk of butter on it. To me a butter burger means the butter is in the meat, but I am not positive if there is butter in the burger meat or not at Solly's. I only add that because with how the butter was unmelted I feel like it was just spread on the buns and not in the meat. The burger was ok. I had high hopes and that may have tainted my experience, but the burger was relatively flavorless and somehow both really juicy and messy, but magically so dry I had to drink my soda in large gulps to clear my throat. I finished the whole burger, so it wasn't horrible, it was just really flavorless. When I went up to pay for both of the checks (remember couldn't put them together), I was told the card reader wasn't working. In their defense, there was a sign on the door that I missed walking in. Sadly, this wouldn't have been an issue if the on site ATM was working or if the QR code on the receipt worked for paying. Basically, I had to leave my family to go to an ATM offsite to get cash. Listen, I hate writing a less than spectacular review, but the overall experience was underwhelming. The wait staff was super sweet and this isn't a reflection of them or the cooks. I think the burgers are something you either like or don't. For me it was simply not something I liked. I would have given three, maybe four stars if there wasn't the issue with how to pay at the end. If you do go here, just be ready to doctor your food up with whatever condiments you can find unless you like the burger coming out tasting like buttery cooked beef.

Yelp
We went on the Saturday after Christmas before New Years and it was an off night. Unfortunately, they were short-staffed and trying to keep up. I'll chalk it up as a one-off and try again not during the holidays when it seems everyone I know is sick. It's still an experience, counter seating, talking to your neighbors, laughing with the server, and drippy delicious butter burgers. I have been coming here since I was a kid, and before I was born my grandma worked here. My niece and her boyfriend wanted to try it and the food did not disappoint. We ordered a large fry to share and the server took the time to put it in 3 plates. The chocolate malts are still amazing; although, the fries have changed I don't care for them as much. If you haven't been, definitely a place to try! And please for the love of God, break the diet, eat the butter and top it off with a MALT- not a silky shake. Let me know how it was for you when you go!

Yelp
Known for their burgers but have you stopped for breakfast? We stopped in after golfing nearby at Lincoln Park for breakfast. Burgers are still available in the morning. I opted for an omelette. Food was delicious as usual. I always need to remind myself that this is almost exclusively countertop seating. There is one table off to the side. Lunch and dinner times have always been really busy when I've gone here. Breakfast did not seem to be as busy the weekend we went and there was plenty of seating.

Yelp
I am for the most part a vegetarian, but will flex and eat meat occasionally. I very rarely eat red meat, saving it for when you're at a place where you get the beef. This is one of those times. I had heard of butter burgers before and was thrilled to have the opportunity to eat one where they were invented. I arrived in the early afternoon on a Monday and there were only a couple other people there. The restaurant has an interesting layout with a curved counter in the center that is most of the seating (with some other tables on the side). I opted to sit at the counter so the server wouldn't have to go out of his way to get to me. I went basic: double butter burger with some fries on the side, opting for regular butter. My server was super friendly and walked me through everything, and I found the history of the burger and the restaurant on the menu interesting. The burger was great. The butter was SO creamy and the whole thing melted in my mouth. It was worth the flex! I also really enjoyed the fries: super crispy. I liked that I could watch my food being made in front of me. I'm glad I got to experience the real thing! Worth the stop when you're in town. It's clear they have a lot of love from locals and foodies alike.

Yelp
Niche place on places to visit in WI. Tried this when I first moved for their famous butter burger and they really weren't joking about how much butter there was. It was by no means best burger I ever had but a unique experience in the old school decor and bar seats. Original owner was there and the waitress was really friendly. I got their strawberry rhubarb pie and it was amazing. Onion rings were on point too. Cute little late night diner vibes I would come back and maybe try a different item.

Janice P.

Yelp
Food is great. French fries are like homemade. If you're looking for a good butter burger this is the place to try.

Yelp
I haven't been here in many years. Wanted to see if I was missing out. I started with a cup of Lobster Bisque, which was pretty solid...good flavor and texture. I added a basic cheeseburger with a side of fries. Looking at photos, it seems they don't use as much butter as they used to, which is not a bad thing. I thought they used way too much butter the last time I went, which I felt was gimicky (is that a word). I love crinkle cut fries, but these were over-cooked and not seasoned, or under-seasoned if they were. I added salt and pepper to help, but that is best done when they are fresh out if the fryer, so the seasoning sticks to the oil before it absorbs into the fries. I will say the service I received was very good! She was attentive and friendly. I think Solly's burgers are still good, but the burger game in Milwaukee is MUCH improved, so I feel there are tastier options available now that were not available during Solly's earlier years. It's still a great place to bring out-of-towners for the nostalgia and Milwaukee institution" status.

Yelp
If the restaurant is busy you will receive terrible service with long wait times for food. Also, food will come at different times. We order burgers, fries and cheese curds. Burgers came first, 15 minutes later cheese curds arrived, 15 minutes later here come the fries minus one order of fries. After we ate the burgers and cheese curds we were ready to leave but the waitress kept telling us the fries will be right out. The food was great but not great enough to wait 15 minutes for each food to arrive. I live within walking distance from Sollys but we rather drive to Culver's or Kopps for better service and for us to get all of our food at once.
google avatar

Yelp
What a joint. Small little bar setting. Real diner feel, great service. She called me sunshine. Which hasn't happened since I was 6. Burger is solid, great melt on the cheese and nice butter to soften the bun Nd add to the flavor. Get the Onion Rings for sure and some "Sassy Sauce" to complete your meal.

Yelp
I'm actually disappointed to see my Yelp app check-in for here did not work. Darn it! Maybe I was too excited for having made it to the original home of the butterburger a mere three days after learning about it on a National TV program! Read on... This review is based on a lunch experience on November 2, 2023. I was watching one of my favorite cooking programs "Cooks Country" when to my surprise, they said they were going to teach the preparation of Wisconsin butterburgers. How could there be preparation for this I thought? If you don't know this show they give a little origin story as to why they share the recipes that they do. She said she discovered these burgers when she come to Wisconsin for a wedding and ate at Solly's. The inventor of the butterburger. I bet you thought it was that other place that does all the advertising! So did I. I decided to look up where Solly's is so that I could go to the original home of the butterburger someday. I was surprised to find that this is in the middle of Milwaukee, four miles from a work conference I would attend a few days later. Score! The butterburgers at Solly's have a softened browned onion topping, and distinctly different from the place with multiple locations, you can taste the BUTTER on these burgers. It's like eating a stick of butter, in a good way! According to the TV program, it's two tablespoons per burger. I didn't have the nerve to ask my server if that is true. It tasted true. And while you can get a burger fixed all kind of ways I suggest the first time get it as intended. Onion and butter is not basic on this burger! My dining partner ordered chicken tenders, fries, and lobster bisque. So you've got options if you need more than a burger. Also, our server was Steven! He is excellent! Y'all need to make sure you don't sleep on Steven! He was on it with our Coca Cola refills! Big plus is the interior which I'm assuming has not changed it's counter service and stools since original days. I meant to ask about the names on the gold plates. I assume the names are longtime customers. I like too that when you enter you see the accolades. I dig the low key atmosphere. I also appreciate that there was 30 to 50 years age difference between me and my dining partner and the rest of the patrons. That longevity tells me that people know what's good and stick with it! Just because that chain is doing constant advertising doesn't mean they invented the butterburger or that they're doing it best! Bookmark Solly's right now. You never know when you'll be in Milwaukee and can get the tried and true original Wisconsin butterburger.

Yelp
A Whitefish Bay classic! I always love stopping into Solly's whenever I get a chance. Me and my family have gone here since I was little and the experience never gets old! The old school, diner style seating and the open kitchen give a special ambiance you can't get anywhere else! My mom always gets the double Solly butter burger and I had a bite- wow! The butter could make me drool! It's a bit messy but the thin Pattie's and meaty cheese and onions pack a flavor punch. I opted for the veggie burger that also came with a mound of that signature butter and it was good! It was a bit bland and I didn't love that the bun wasn't toasted but I think the fresh veggies and butter pulled it together in the end! Me and my dad shared the chocolate malt and that was delicious- always a staple whenever I go and never fails! Try out Solly's grille (preferably on a cheat day)!

Yelp
Recommend the vintage set up diner! Had cheese curds and hit the spot.. known for there butterburger.

Yelp
I really enjoyed Solly's! I've lived in the area many years and I finally got to try it! Okay, first things first, the size of this place from outside perspective is very deceiving. There is only bar seating available, first come first serve. I feel this information is important because if there are no seats together, and you're with a partner or multiple people it can be tricky. I saw people bring their children, which some took up seats and some sat in parents laps. Not much room to wait for a spot. You basically have to stand near the front to wait and see when spots get freed up. I had heard about the butter burger but maybe should have read reviews before getting my own. The butter is way too much for me. I didn't actually enjoy it. The tomato on my burger ended up too warm for my liking, which also made it mushy and I rather prefer my tomatoes cold and crisp. My burger was supposed to come with onions, but it came without. It was rather busy so I didn't send it back. The overall taste of the burger was good. The fries were cooked to perfection. I had to order a side of Solly's Sassy Sauce; it did not disappoint! Make sure you try this. I ended my night ordering a vanilla milk shake which was absolute heaven! Haven't had a diner milkshake in years. An older male came out and helped clear the counters. I'm unsure if he was the owner, be he was friendly, greeted us and asked us how our food was. They give you a chocolate at the end of your meal, which is a nice gesture, although I did not care to eat mine. But the thoughtfulness did not go unnoticed. The staff were so friendly! Although our server was soft spoken so it was hard to hear and understand her, which probably was the reason for the onion mistake. I'll definitely try Solly's again!
google avatar

Rick W.

Yelp
Cool location and friendly people. Had to wait but got a quick seat at the counter. Nice tasty burger. If you're health conscious, you may want to look away when they add the butter. Interesting! Definitely worth a try for the experience.
google avatar

Viv P.

Yelp
We went all out and got the Cheesehead Burger. Each was a whopping $16.50. Hubby says he'll just get their original butter burger. He'll get 2 of them, and it's still cheaper than the cheesehead burger, which wasn't that good anyway. The server was super nice, which made up for the whole experience.

Dave T.

Yelp
Horrible service. Ordered burger and fries. Fries came 45 minutes before burger. Are you kidding me. Sent fries back to be served with burger. Also had a second order of tenders and fries that came 20 minutes before the burger. Sent those back as well so we could have a hot meal together. This is a one and done place reputation or not. Very bad experience. I'd give it a zero star rating but that's not an option. After an hour ended up walking out.

Jill G.

Yelp
The food was awesome! Darcey waited on us and the service was impeccable! The restaurant is very clean and not too noisy. Coming back here brought back memories of my college days at Concordia University! This place is still as good as I remember it from years ago! I will be back!

Yelp
Thank God I don't live within walking distance, or I would weigh 400 pounds. This is a dive in the best sense of the word. Great food, great service. Keep it up!
google avatar

Aus M.

Yelp
The chicken NOODLE soup had absolutely no noodles therefore you're using false marketing. And the root beer floats are 90% ice cream and 10% root beer so you don't get to enjoy your the drink.

John S.

Yelp
Get ready for tons of butter! If you have a weak stomach beware. My kids and I love it while we are eating it, but you will be burping it up for hours. Be nice to the staff, you are an annoyance to them. You have to apologize for them forgetting parts of your order. If you have a strong stomach, you will enjoy it.
google avatar

Yelp
My burger was amazing. Staff members were friendly. Dining area was clean and night. Small crowd inside. Peaceful! Will dine in again.

Yelp
I love this place. The burgers are great, but more so I am enamored by the charming mid 20th Century ambiance. It's like a trip in the Wayback Machine with Peabody and his boy Sherman, set to 1968. Only the racism is gone and the draft is Russian not American. Now I don't know how many of the underwhelmed reviewers here are old enough to know what I'm talking about but they use an old school Hamilton to make the shakes, the counter seating, the home made pies, it's all so heartwarming to this Boomer. I have a special place in my heart for the steady and stalwart, change is not always progress. Comparable to Mazo's on the Southside but I slightly prefer this place. Great soups. Very clean.
google avatar

Leah Y.

Yelp
The food was hot, fresh and delicious. I like the high counter seating and being able to see the food being prepared. The staff were really nice but kinda slow! Food was great tho!

Laura F.

Yelp
A cozy atmosphere with the best burgers! Sure, there's butter.. but it's not a requirement. The crinkle fries are perfect for dipping in their "sassy" sauce aka aioli, and their milkshakes are the BEST! They use real Wisconsin butter, not the fake stuff. This is the perfect spot for that cheat meal ;) Oh and if you like onions.. their secret stewed onions on the burger are a must have!
google avatar

James L.

Yelp
This is a a bar/grill that serves some pretty decent food. I ended up getting the shrimp and corn chowder and the chicken tenders with fries. The chicken tender with fries were just your average chicken tender with fries nothing to make a fuss about. The shrimp and corn chowder on the other hand was some of the best that I've had besides the Creole shrimp and corn chowder I've had in my home state of Louisiana. I'll be the first to admit that I really wasn't expecting much. So this was a pleasant surprise.

Yelp
Walked in to kill some time over a quick bite and what a lucky find it was! I was immediately impressed with the old-fashioned diner interior and the friendliness of the owner and the waitress. Ordered a bowl of chili first and it was delicious. Then heard the waitress explain the menu to another customer and was shocked to learn that Solly's is apparently the birthplace of the original butter burger- a Wisconsin staple that I adore! Thats how my low carb lunch turned into a cheat meal and boy it was worthy of breaking the diet! Onions cooked in meat juices and butter is what really made the burger sing for me! The waitress winked at me and offered a fork so I could pick up the deliciously looking drippings, she just read my mind as I was not going to leave one bit behind. My whole experience felt like going back in time and I admire places that have that time-machine quality to them. Bringing back my whole family next time to do a full experience with their famous melts and a slice of homemade pie but already looking forward to a another bite of their amazing burger.

Nikki L.

Yelp
OMG, the butter burgers are simply divine!!! When served the food is hot as the butter melts and almost runs down your arms! Solly's is a Milwaukee treasure!

Marvin G.

Yelp
Years ago, couldn't wait to eat here, Sorry things have changed. I guess Milwaukee has changed its burger game, many other places have stepped up! Somewhat disappointing, both flavor and price. Guess I'm still stuck in the good old days. Blessings

Marilyn S.

Yelp
The burgers were as good as they were 30 yrs ago! Friendly staff (although the woman cashier was a bIt pushy with her annoying sales pitches to buy merchandise),enjoyable counter service. But....$32.00 for 4 hamburgers is way too high. Yes, prices have gone up but the size of the burger doesn't warrant the steep cost!

Erika D.

Yelp
Worst service I've ever had. No hello or how is everything? Nothing. Never got a menu. Had to grab one myself. She Stood there with pad and pen said you have 2 mins to order breakfast. Never got my water. Hoping the food was at least good. What a disappointment!Food came wasn't what was described and I couldn't eat it because the oil was just pooling on the plate. Nasty in my opinion. Hope I don't shit myself from the 2 bites I ate. You got the tip you deserved. Actually no tip should have been given. I've been in this business for 30 years and I'm shocked this place is even still open. Do better ....

Alex M.

Yelp
This place has so much character that I can't give it under 5 stars. The butter burger was decent and a novelty but the service and ambiance was incredible.

Yelp
I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this place before. Granted, I've only visited it twice in the 16 years I've lived in Milwaukee. I know the butter burger is a big deal around these parts but in general, I'm not a fan. I'm especially not a fan when the burger itself is relatively bland and flavorless. Solly's allows you to choose the level of butter from a lot to light on the butter. I do appreciate that. Burgers run from $7 for a plain burger/no fries to $17 for a designer burger with all the trimmings and fries. We settled on the $12.5 double cheese burger with fries. The burgers aren't bad but they use sirloin, they steam them, and they don't really season the meat so it's a bit underwhelming. With the stewed onions, it's kind of a like a high end White Castle burger. The glorious melted cheese helps and the buns are good. The crinkle cut fries are large, the portions are large, but mine kind of tasted like stale frozen fries from a bag. Not the whole order, just a few here and there. The interior is small. There are two counters with seats and a few tables here and there. The service is good but the food is kind of slow to come out.

Yelp
We got a seat at the bar right away! Drinks were served fast. The tuna salad is so good and fresh! The mushroom Swiss was great ( pictured), the fries are crisp and hot, the butter burger is also delicious! Highly recommend, don't believe the bad reviews!!

Yelp
Ok, I know Solly's is supposed to be a Milwaukee institution for being the spot to get a burger. I've been here a few times and I just don't get it. So Solly's is a greasy spoon type diner. Seating is around a counter and the place isn't all that large. So what are my issues with Solly's? So you order a Solly combo (burger & fries) that comes to just under $10. Your fries are brought out to you about 5 minutes before your burger. This might not be a thing for some, but unless I've ordered an appetizer I prefer to get all of my food at the same time. Now onto the burger. Can you say overpriced for what you get. The bun is about the size of a value burger at McDonald's and the patty is only slightly thicker than that same McDonald's burger. As another reviewer noted, the dollup of butter slathered on top is almost as thick as the burger itself. The patty itself is a delicious heart attack in waiting soaked in the melting butter. There just isn't much of it there. For the price the burger should be about twice the size that it actually is. I've not visited Solly's for anything other than the butter burger so I can't speak to the rest of the diner options. If a butter drenched burger is your thing Solly's is the spot. Just be prepared to be underwhelmed with the size.

Yelp
I grew up in Glendale in the little neighborhood just behind Solly's, across from Sprecher Brewery. As a kid, I would always ride my bike over to Sprecher to get a soda and then to Sollys for a butter burger. Absolute, classic diner, sollys has the original, and the best butter burger around. My mouth is watering writing this. The staff are always quick and friendly, no bs straight to it. I've always loved the set up, it gives such a nostalgic, feel sitting at the counter, watching your burger being made from a distance, everything made front of house. One of my all-time favorites are the malts, it pairs so nicely with a burger and fries. The fries are always scolding hot, fresh crisp and salty. To this day, I make a trip to sollys at least 2 to 3 times a year. I think after this review, I'll have to go get another butter burger. Its all about the experience, butter drenched bun, patty covered in melted butter, and every bite just melts away in your mouth. Sollys is a MUST try. A midwest staple

Yelp
Wonderful burgers and shakes. The hostess, Kim, was SO friendly and kind! Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Iconic old fashioned "burger joint". Malts and milkshakes made the way they did them 70 years ago. Prompt service. Best butter burger you will ever taste. Big two thumbs up, for the staff also.

Yelp
As a burger connoisseur, I knew I had to make it up to Sollys for a butter burger. Being in Wisconsin, plus the home of Culver's , I thought it was a must eat because I love butter burgers. You can pass, not much to see here. Service was terrible. Took forever to take our order when we sat down, and when I asked about her favorite burger.....her answer..... "I don't eat burgers, so I have never had one."Hahaha...oh your serious....WOW, ok. Clearly it is a steamed burger in butter, normally I would be a player, but this was boring, not much flavor and tiny! No bigger than a McDonald's cheese burger. Ok, so that means it's cheap right?? Nope! 2 burgers, 1 small fry and 1 soda....$25 before tip. Not a good value at all. Timing, it's everything in a restaurant, got to get it right. Haha, not here! Burger came out and we were told the fries take a while, yea, they came out once we were done with our burgers. Not awesome. If you like pickles and other things on your burger? Keep moving, they don't have them. So we will count this as a loss for lunch and move on to the next.

Yelp
I really don't understand the hype around the burgers here. They are highly priced compared to the competition and there is not much flavor to the meat. The flavor all comes from the stick of butter dropping from the burger if a cardiac arrest is what you're looking for. It's hard to get past the taste of butter and actually enjoy the burger. The entire bun was soaking wet and even the bag was soaked in butter. I really was hoping for it to be better based off of the good reviews. But it was a huge miss and I highly advise against it.

Yelp
Came on a Monday for lunch so no issues with seating. Steve was an amazing server, def made the whole experience better. Ambiance was chill like what you'd imagine for a burger diner in a movie. Food was great; their butter burger was good but nothing to rave about (although i only got light butter so perhaps the experience would be different with the normal amount) but their Sassy burger with added lettuce and tomato was absolutely excellent. I'll definitely be coming back for that one!

Yelp
Fantastic place for breakfast and lunch. Homemade food that is so incredibly good. Totally recommend this place. Very casual, but some of the nicest people and best food. Just delicious.

Yelp
We heard this was the best burger spot in town. I tried the double super bacon cheeseburger with easy butter and I could tell from the first bite why it is an award winning burger. The wife got the super cheeseburger special with easy butter as well and after tasting a bite of her burger, I was underwhelmed. We should have ordered two of the Double super bacon cheeseburgers. I paid the up charge for the onion rings and it was worth it. They were very good. Wife opted for the crinkle fries. They were good but not sure how they won the "Milwaukee's Best" title. On to dessert. We shared The Crazy Cow shake that had oreo, banana, hot fudge and caramel and it was amazing! There is plenty of parking however, seatings are limited due to the current social distancing norm. We enjoyed outdoor seating and the server was very pleasant.
