I swung around the back of the property with my 18 Wheeler, parked near a tree with plenty of shade. My first time ever trying Somali food. It definitely won’t be my last. They topped up my sweet chai tea with some fine milk! Their “tortillas” are made from scratch, definitely not store bought. I can’t wait to be back delivering to Pepsi or Tyson again.

I stopped in here after hiking and the food and service were both too notch. We got the goat and rice, the options were limited, but that makes sense and what they do, they do well. The goat was perfectly savory, tender, and rich. And the rice was beautifully seasoned and cooked. The gentleman helping us seemed knowledgeable about his food, and slightly amused we were there. From the outside I was a little skeptical but the inside was neat and well worth it.

Respectful mama owner who makes sure food is served with open arms; delicious food, welcoming faces. And after food, please don’t forget to try their spicy Somali tea with milk! Fantastic!

The food was delicious. The woman at first said she only had beef and fish and then she brought out spaghetti and rice and this soup that was delicious. The food was halal and the spices were wonderful. The chai was perfect. Definitely would recommend going here. The Somali woman running this place really knows how to cook Mashallah.

For $22 plus tax, I got a humongous serving of goat, with rice and a side bowl of curry, small salad and a hot chai tea. Delicious! Came with a wonderful hot sauce on the side. Like makes your eyes tear up a bit it's so good. Incredible depth of flavors. Texas sized serving. Yum! Oh! And they care about the quality of water they serve. It's not tap water, it's from a pure water place. I care about my water quality and I was happy to hear they do too.

We had a very enjoyable meal of goat meat on rice and a bowl of beef stew. One plate was plenty for two of us. The owners were very friendly and helpful and we tried to figure out what to order.

Ok the place doesn't look appealing from the road, but it does get a 97 out of 100 from the heath department. The food is authentic and the noodles have enough flavor to be a meal by themselves. The goat perfectly cooked, tender with little gristle that can be common with cheap cuts. The people are very nice if you engage with them. No menus so you have to ask what you want. Just get goat, noodles, and rice.

$20 for the goat curry plate. Very low key, hole in the wall place. Cash only, when I went they only had one thing available. Luckily it was the goat, which was great! I wish there was a little more meat for the price but the rice was great also. Simple meal and nice lady working there.

Good tasty food but slow service you need patience or maybe order in advance. There's parking for semi trucks

Food was tasty & meat was tender. Spice was balanced. There is language barrier but when ordered our food at 3:00 pm. It was almost gone. They still served us goat meat with spaghetti & lettuce salad on a side in large size platter good enough for two persons. Food was delicious. Restroom was clean & parking space is available. Restaurant was located at Amarillo Blvd but building looks quite old. Just ask them for Menu with price.

Best Somali restaurant in town for sure you gotta come and taste this delicious food she makes. Mashallah this lady can cook this a top notch restaurant I recommend it to everyone specially if you're a truck driver come check this place out they got big parking u can park the truck. Amazing Somalian food. There is no menu, they serve what they make. I have to say the location is not great and it constantly appears closed, but be brave and walk on in any way. The people working there are extraordinarily happy and welcoming. The food is full of flavor. Their rice smells like lavender and has great taste. They have some of the best goat meat I have ever eaten.

I wanted a new place to eat and a new experience. The place isn't much to look at, but the food is AMAZING! Pasta hands down was some of the best I've ever had. The spices were just right. The owner was nice and inviting. For sure a place to go outside of your normal box. $13 for the plate and a soda. Cash Only

I wanted to come here on my last trip to Amarillo but I didn't find out about this place until a day or two before I was due to leave and there just wasn't time so it was on my Amarillo bucket list for this trip. It was definitely worth it. I had an absolutely delicious meal with so much food I could only eat half of it and had to get a to-go box for the other half. I'm going to elaborate more later when I have time but for now let it suffice to say I had a wonderful meal and hope to make it back again before I leave town. ---------- I won't say it isn't a little intimidating to walk into a restaurant with all male customers and the only females covered except for their faces. I certainly don't mean to offend anyone's beliefs by not being covered and can only hope that they accept my attire as I accept theirs. Everyone was perfectly nice to me so I hope that's how it was. I saw no menu and no prices so I asked the lady behind the counter what the choices were or if they had a menu I could look at. I think because they cater to regular customers who speak the same language they just tell them and once they've been in one time their customers know what there is to order. As near as I could figure out there was beef, chicken, and spaghetti. Beyond that I had no clue. However, I have never ordered a meal I didn't like in an African restaurant and I've been in several across the United States, possibly as many as a dozen, so I just figured I couldn't go wrong. I ordered the beef, no clue what the actual name of the dish was, and it was phenomenal. Whatever spices they use are absolute perfection. And the rice couldn't have been any better. There was a side salad that was as crisp and crunchy as you could hope for, just lettuce and a little onion, nothing fancy, a bottle of ranch dressing on the side. The platter was fairly large, full of aromatic rice and flavorful tender beef with a little bowl of some sort of sauce that seem to also include beef, onion and potatoes which I assumed was either to dip the beef pieces in or dribble over the dish. I did a little bit of both. There was a half lime which again I wasn't sure which part of the meal it was to go over. Since I like lime I just squirted it over everything. There was also a banana which I wasn't sure if I was supposed to eat separate or mix with the meal. Again I did a little bit of both. The meal also included a bottle of water. I had no idea what the total price was going to be but that became irrelevant because everything was so delicious I just figured I'd take whatever came. The meal only came with one utensil, a large spoon like you would serve with. I'm sure I was supposed to be eating with my fingers and maybe after I got comfortable in the place I would. I have no problem eating with my fingers when I go to African restaurants that include injera bread or Fufu to help pick up the food but I was hesitant to do it my first time here, not being sure. They might have found it humorous to see me eating my salad with a serving spoon. Oh, and the meal ended up being $13 which I thought was fair enough for the deliciousness, quality and quantity of the food. I also took home close to half so it made a second meal the next day, just as delicious as the first. I hope I will get back there before I have to leave town to try another dish. I've been in town for nearly a month and I'm pretty sure this is the best meal I've had on the whole trip of all the places I have tried, and I eat one meal out nearly every day.

I love really the food she cooked. It's delicious and everytime I cross amarilo. I never pass. no matter I come west or east i have to go and eat the delicious food. It remind me the delicious food my mom cook me every day when I was home in somalia

This restaurant is called the African Safari in Amarillo, Texas. They serve Somali food by the plate. This is an authentic African restaurant frequented by Somali people. This place is simple in appearance but it's worth visiting. They give big plates of basmati rice with vegetables and spices, meats and salad with banana as a desert. The owner is very friendly and the cooks are excellent. We shared what they call one plate (which is really two plates) for two people and that was perfect. It cost us $12 so it's a great value.

Wow! Wow! Choose based on reviews, and it was so right! Get the pasta!! Somalia was colonized by Italians, among others, and they have put a spiced twist on the dish and the texture was perfection. We also had aromatic rice, beef, goat, chicken...the goat was not gamey at all. There is no menu, just ask the very friendly family what they have that day. Dont let the unassuming (dark at night) store front fool you. This is a gem that your palate and digestion will thank you for!

Tried to check this place out on a monday at 11am but it was closed. It looked like its closed permanently, but couldn't tell because there were no signs anywhere. Too bad. We were looking forward to it based on reviews.
