Somu – Baia Sardinia - a MICHELIN Guide Restaurant

"With experience in Michelin-starred restaurants behind him, owner-chef Salvatore Camedda demonstrates his talents to the full in this restaurant, where he combines top-quality Sardinian ingredients with flavours and aromas discovered on his travels around the world. Every dish showcases the superb produce of the region, from casizolu and fiore sardo cheeses to Cabras bottarga (cured fish roe) and wild herbs from the Costa Smeralda, all prepared in contemporary style with combinations that are unusual not only for the general public but also for more gourmet-focused palates. The stunning location offers views of the beach and the bay." - Michelin Inspector

The 16 Essential Sardinia Restaurants

"The Costa Smeralda in northeastern Sardinia is an oligarch’s playground, as famous for mediocre, overpriced food as it is for white sand beaches. Somu stands out in a sea of uselessly contemporary tourist traps. Chef Salvatore Camedda leverages modern techniques to capture the essence of local flavors in dishes like risotto with sweet and sour peppers, amaretto butter, and horseradish, or roasted turbot with spring onions, beer, and bitter greens. Every meal comes with an emerald green sea view." - Katie Parla

We decided to try this highly rated restaurant and it did not disappoint. We selected a tasting menu and the courses were seemingly endless. We did get the wine marrying with it and the wines were amazing. Our waiters were attentive and explained everything we were eating and drinking. The flavors were amazing. Pricey but that's to be expected.

Good restaurant in the very typical village of Baja Sardinia. The location is really nice as you'll have dinner in the terrace just above the sea. The personnel is nice and professional. The cuisine is creatively made and globally everything is good. Both the vegetarian and the classic menus are well prepared with Ingredients of the territory.

We were excited to visit our first michelin star outside the UK. The restaurant is situated under a hotel which didn't seem to fit the ambience of an upmarket restaurant. The staff were very nice and attentive although did seem stretched once the restaurant was busier. I had made a reservation via email in the winter months to make sure of availability and yet when we arrived they didn't have our booking but they did seat us anyway which was a relief. In busier times I'm sure it would have been a problem though. The menu had a lot of choice for a michelin, normally it's a tasting menu with adaptation for dietary requirements. This restaurant had three tasting menus with the option of going a la carte which I don't think helped the restaurant staff with managing all the different choices. We went for one of the tasting menus with wine pairing. Some of our dishes were fantastic, pics included. Some of the dishes were nice but not amazing, all down to personal taste really. The wine pairing was nice but not great in terms of elevating the meals. Would have been more interesting to have some red wine in the course of the meal, and some wines were used for 2 courses. Overall a good experience, just not really what we are used to with michelin quality or price!

What an amazing dining experience! The setting really can't be topped, what a beautiful bay to look out to during a sunset dinner. We got the identity menu (they want the table to have the same menu) and it was excellent. The risotto was one of my favorites, actually followed by the noodle soup. The multiple desserts were decadent and surprising! Definitely worth stopping in! Also the hotel has parking for the restaurant.

Very interesting tasting experience, with flavours that I would not usually choose in a restaurant. Very nice staff, although they could explain the dishes a bit slower (I struggled a bit to understand, maybe because neither of us was a native English speaker).

We booked the restaurant before our arrival to Sardinia as it was attached to our hotel. We only read the Google reviews when we arrived and become very sceptical of going ahead with the reservation. I’m so glad we did as the food there is absolutely amazing! Can only think that the people who had left negative reviews didn’t do the tasting menu and that they picked individual dishes. The Chef chooses a tasting menu for a reason and in restaurants like this it’s a journey. Highly recommend the “Territorio” option with the wine pairing option. While in Baja Sardinia we managed to try almost every restaurant in the area and this one beats everyone hands down. It does cost x3 as much as the others but that’s no surprise with it being a 1star Michelin. We love trying the local food of where we visit, in which chef Salvatore Camedda does perfectly. All the staff there make you feel so comfortable, the atmosphere is very relaxed as you gaze upon one of the best views you can while you eat. The portion sizes are small individually but as a whole tasting menu I came out stuffed, the photos added are of the amuse bouches, didn’t want to post the meal and spoil it for people. Grazie mille Somu!!

Fantastic restaurant! By far the best restaurant in the area, obviously as they have a Michelin star. Stunning view, very tasty food and incredible service! Don't understand the negative reviews.. Very reasonably priced for a tasting menu at a restaurant of this class. Don't listen to the bad ones, definitely worth a visit!

Easily the worst food I have EVER had in my entire life and I’ve been to quite a few Michelin star restaurants (I’m not sure how this one ever even got one). The entire group I was with could barely have more than one bite from each plate. If it wasn’t for the bread we would’ve all left feeling extremely hungry. We were ready for the entire 2 1/2 hour experience to just be over already but every time they would keep coming with more food that looked even more unappetizing than the previous and that was absolutely inedible - to say the very least. Also that chocolate mask at the end was a scary way to end this horrible dinner altogether. Would never recommend this place even to my worst enemy. The only thing that made it worth it was the view. Please avoid this tourist trap with subpar service and go try something local that would taste at least hundred times better than this place.
