We were excited to visit our first michelin star outside the UK. The restaurant is situated under a hotel which didn't seem to fit the ambience of an upmarket restaurant. The staff were very nice and attentive although did seem stretched once the restaurant was busier. I had made a reservation via email in the winter months to make sure of availability and yet when we arrived they didn't have our booking but they did seat us anyway which was a relief. In busier times I'm sure it would have been a problem though. The menu had a lot of choice for a michelin, normally it's a tasting menu with adaptation for dietary requirements. This restaurant had three tasting menus with the option of going a la carte which I don't think helped the restaurant staff with managing all the different choices. We went for one of the tasting menus with wine pairing. Some of our dishes were fantastic, pics included. Some of the dishes were nice but not amazing, all down to personal taste really. The wine pairing was nice but not great in terms of elevating the meals. Would have been more interesting to have some red wine in the course of the meal, and some wines were used for 2 courses. Overall a good experience, just not really what we are used to with michelin quality or price!
