"Step out on Newbury Street for a fashionable Thanksgiving dinner at Sonsie, which is open and accepting reservations from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the holiday. The restaurant put together a three-course prix fixe dinner for $75 per person that includes apple butternut squash soup, baked mushroom tarts, apple cider-brined turkey, pan-roasted cod loin, and more, plus dessert options such as pumpkin pie, carrot cake, apple pie, and a signature bread pudding served with duck fat cornbread with maple bourbon butter." - Erika Adams

It was just okay. You’d think food places on Newbury Street would be memorable and delicious . Especially for the price. I’ve eaten at less expensive places with better food. I asked for medium rare and received what looks like almost rare. Cooking for another 1-2 minutes would’ve made it perfect. It was so chewy. The seating was very tight. We seated facing the street. Very close to the people next to us and in front of us. Restrooms were in lower floor so would be tricky for anyone who can’t manage stairs.

Busy venue but we had a reservation on Saturday night. Good service and acceptable prices on an eclectic menu. We enjoyed the Caesar salad which was substantial. For entrees we selected pepperoni pizza, shrimp scampi and pasta Bolognese. All were delicious. Full bar and wine list available, desserts and small plates to share. Service was good and the bustling atmosphere was okay ( you could still carry on a conversation). We had a pleasant experience.

Today was my second time back and it was just as incredible as the first time. Had the same wonderful waitress- Michalah T - who was very attentive and quick with everything. The salmon Caesar salad is by far the best I’ve ever had. I can say the salmon itself is the best salmon I’ve ever had as well. Tried a local beer this time (Jacks Abby House Lager) and that was excellent as well. Will definitely be back and would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend. The calamari is also incredible!

I came here for my birthday and had such a great meal! Great menu selection for all different tastes, we got dumplings, bao buns, focaccia, escargot, various pasta dishes and pizzas, and everything was so good! Our server was very nice and funny, too. The restaurant was pretty inside, very nice atmosphere. Drinks and desserts were great as well!

We had our first date after becoming official at Sonsie and had a great experience (and obviously our relationship worked out!) so decided to celebrate our wedding here as well! It was an exceptional experience working with Sari, the events coordinator, and the night went perfectly. Communication and collaboration through the planning process were very easy and a delight throughout. We really appreciated the thought and care she put into making our day special, from printing out and framing welcome and table signs to saving the rest of the cake in the fridge after the wedding so we could take it home the next day to enjoy. And when I went to pick it up the next day, I had forgotten to take a menu the night of but the manager kindly printed out another copy for our keepsakes. The food was superbly seasoned and portions generous. The eggplant meatballs were a standout appetizer and the little gem salad was also very tasty! My salmon entree was nice and hot, with decadent crispy skin. It can be tough to maintain the quality when serving many people, but they did an amazing job! They also made special other dishes to accommodate dietary restrictions. The wine room was a very intimate and lovely venue. All the guests complimented the food and the whole evening. Thank you to Sari and the whole team. Would highly recommend for a night out or any special event!

We came here after 9pm, not so busy and was able to have a table right away. The waiter was friendly but he forgot my beer for long time. But foods were delicious.

This place was great! Very European vibe- great outdoor space and open indoor space. Great food options. Loved my dish. Our waiter was great too!

Sonsie, nestled in the heart of Boston's Back Bay neighborhood, is a vibrant and bustling restaurant offering a delightful blend of European-inspired cuisine and a chic, inviting atmosphere. Known for its lively ambiance, this iconic spot attracts locals and visitors alike. Upon stepping inside Sonsie, you're greeted by an energetic atmosphere filled with the buzz of conversation and the clinking of glasses. The restaurant's interior boasts a cozy yet stylish decor, featuring exposed brick walls, candlelit tables, and large windows overlooking Newbury Street, making it an ideal spot for people-watching. Service at Sonsie is attentive and friendly, adding to the overall enjoyable dining experience. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and can offer recommendations based on personal preferences.

Yelp
This is probably the best espresso martini in all of Boston. I love coming here, the staff is genuinely nice & accommodating. They aren't super needy or constantly interfering, this is a place to really sit and relax. If you need staff they are there but they are perfect to not become bothersome. I really love the ambience as well it's so homey & comfortable. I recommend sonsie to everyone. Super underrated little spot. Tried their fish and chips and it was great! Had their cheesecake and that was pretty good too. Probably my fav spot as of now.

Yelp
Have always been curious about this spot. Didn't love the air-conditioned yet open windowed policy in the summer. That definitely turned me away. But given the reviews had to check it out. Food was delicious. One of the better Eggs Benedict in Boston. Coffee was good. Service was excellent. Can't give full stars because of the summer issue (see above).

Yelp
After a long night, I was craving a bowl of soup and was pleasantly surprised with the sheer amount of soup that comes in their order. My friends had ordered drinks and one of the drinks had ingredients that ran out so the waiter asked if a replacement ingredient was fine. The waiter allowed my friend to try it and offered to make a completely different one if he didn't like it. I really liked the seating, in the front, it's French style where the chairs face the street and I'm assuming the big window wall opens up on nice days. I'll have to come back when it's nice out and find out!

William Z.

Yelp
Good spot for brunch on a Sunday afternoon, I really liked the atmosphere and decor. The food was good and everything was under $20-25 for brunch. Great to bring friends (tables of four) or just you and one friend for the two-person people-watching tables at the front! Would return.

Nequel B.

Yelp
Came here for brunch and was not disappointed. My friends and I sat outside in the patio area and it was so cute. The restaurant was very spacious. Great for a solo breakfast or catching up with friends. The food was delicious. Our server was really nice and helpful when it came to ordering.

Yelp
Great summer night dinner here on Saturday before the long Memorial Day weekend. We were walking outside over the Mass Ave bridge enjoying the really great evening that it is today. Then decided to head over to Newbury Street for dinner. Saw Sonsie open with nice outdoor seating and walked in. They said they close at 10 and if that was ok because it was 9:04 pm. We said it was totally fine as long as their service was efficient. I got the roast salmon which came with mashed potatoes and shishito peppers. The salmon was amazing perfectly cooked tender and flavorful buttery - I'd say one of the best salmons I've had and I've definitely had a lot of salmon lol! It is my go to dish!! The mashed potatoes were also really good creamy and buttery too really really nice couldn't stop eating! The shishito peppers were nice too. The hubs ordered the wagyu beef burger which came with a ton of fries. He really enjoyed the burger and said "this is just what I needed" and he remarked more than once how good it was! I tried the fries and they were perfect crisp on the outside tender soft on the inside. Our server Dawson was great very friendly and good service with a smile. The hostesses were also very nice. Overall great ambiance sitting outside soaking up the atmosphere on a warm summer night and a really great meal!

Bailey B.

Yelp
We got seated at one of the tables looking at the street and they had the doors open. It was actually quite cold, so I wish they would have waited to open the doors until it got higher than 60 outside. I got the french toast which was ok. The strawberries on top were clearly of the compote/possibly frozen variety and had that really soft texture. I wish they would have used fresh strawberries. Otherwise service was good. My friend got the traditional breakfast and really enjoyed it, and that was the same price as my french toast. I would highly recommend getting the traditional breakfast instead.

Winni Z.

Yelp
I find the dinner menu mix funny. There are pasta and pizza options, but also dumplings and fried rice? The food was good. I thought the bolognese was flavorful and comforting. The chicken dumplings were nicely crisped on the outside, but a mushy mess on the inside. The focaccia was okay but unfortunately way too salty. I did think the serving size was appropriate and plenty of food for 2 people. I would come back to try their brunch options. The inside of the restaurant was roomy and dim, despite it being bright outside. I liked being seated in a corner so it wasn't very noisy. Our server did seem very busy, however, as he was not the most attentive and forgot to put in our order for calamari (or the kitchen forgot to make it).

Jungwon K.

Yelp
I've been to Sonsie a few times now, and have had a great time every time! The interior is beautiful and a great space for dates or dinner with friends. My boyfriend and I shared the spaghetti and meatball entree (mainly because the prices are pretty high for anything other than pizzas) and planned to eat somewhere else after. The pasta was delicious, but wished there were more meatballs. We did order drinks, which were really good and had a nice time catching up with friends. The service is also nice and quick! I've heard their brunch is great, so maybe we'll stop in for that at some point, but because of the cost, we'll probably go elsewhere for dinner.

Sarah F.

Yelp
The food was good and reasonably priced! Their menu has a lot of options of different cuisines and there was plenty of seating. Just a thing to note that they charge you $7 for "still water" and don't mention that when they offer, so make sure to ask for tap! Which is better anyway because it's cold. Conveniently located on Newbury Street.

Cheryl P.

Yelp
Sonsie is a pretty famous restaurant on Newbury St and has super large windows that give an amazing view of the just as famous street for peoplewatching. I came here for dinner with a large group (10+) a while back and they had arranged for rectangular seating, which honestly wasn't really my favorite since it was hard to see everyone in the group and leaving my seat for any reason didn't feel like an option when all the tables were completely squished next to each other. Their menu is pretty extensive but had fairly limited options for those who follow a gluten-free diet. I would recommend their vietnamese spring rolls as an appetizer! They were super flavorful and fresh! I also tried their duck confit that was served on a rice crepe but I thought it lacked a bit of flavor and the serving size was pretty small. Overall, I think its location and ambience are positive points but not sure if I would come back again since the menu is pretty limited to my dietary restriction, but I know of many other people who really enjoy coming here!

Joy Q.

Yelp
This place is located conveniently on Newbury. Food was okay. The whole restaurant smelled very stuffy though service was friendly and the front facing seating was very interesting like in France I had a reservation and was seated on time

Yelp
3.75* For an iconic Boston brunch spot, the food was just okay, but overall experience was good! I got the breakfast sandwich, and it didn't feel too heavy, but it lacked something I couldn't quite put my finger on. I also asked for the spicy mayo on the side, but it never came. The traditional breakfast was huge, but I found the eggs to be overdone, the bacon to be too greasy, and the toast over buttered. However the star of the show were the breakfast potatoes/homefries- they were perfectly crispy and not overdone, like they were prepared in an air fryer. So good. Overall the ambiance is nice, and the wait staff are very attentive. I would recommend sonsie as a whole, but I wouldn't say their brunch game is out of this world.

Kayla W.

Yelp
I don't often write bad reviews and I don't like to, but this was so far the worst restaurant I've been to in Boston. The ambiance is awesome, super cute inside. The hostess was so kind and bubbly. I was so excited to come here but unfortunately the food was awful... we didn't even finish our dishes and paid almost $100. Our server completely stopped checking on us. We waited almost an hour for the food to come out, and after the server took our order there was never an update or a refresh of waters or anything. We were super kind customers and the server avoided us the whole night. We constantly had to ask others for service. The focaccia was dry, and the olive oil "dip" with olives was quite gross. The bolognese was flavorless and sad, and the Cod did not live up to any hype whatsoever. Were extremely bummed with the service and the food. We will sadly not recommend and not be back.

Toni T.

Yelp
We came on a day with absolutely horrible weather! Many people left their umbrellas in the interior vestibule inside the removable doors, but I was surprised that there was no place upstairs to hang our soaking wet coats. While the waitress offered to bring them downstairs for us, the offer felt more like an afterthought than an observation that sitting with a soaking coat against your back isn't comfortable, and gets the floors wet and likely slippery for the service staff. No pictures today; I was damp and too grumpy to take my phone out of my (wet through-and-through) bag! The interior ambience is great. It had a bit of a French bistro feel, with lots of wood, subtle lighting, cozy spacing between tables. Our waitress was very attentive and patient as we asked our questions and decided what to order. I had an excellent glass of Pinot Noir and a selection from the small plates menu, the eggplant meatballs which the waitress tried to tell me might not be enough, as it was just 5 very small meatballs. (Those of us at the table were surprised that it looked like light-dinner sized when it came, though.) Others at the table had pizza (2 different versions), and a pasta dish. My meatballs were fine, but more ok than excellent: deep fried, with a crispy breadcrumb and cheese outer crust and a soft interior. I couldn't taste any eggplant in them at all, but I trust that was the soft center, under the coating. They came with a minimal amount of a tasty tomato sauce, served in what seemed to be a very shallow plate for teeny deviled eggs. Seriously, the recessed cups each meatball sat in were deep enough that the knife couldn't easily cut them, and the sauce just pushed out along the side of the dish when I tried to slice through them. A small shallow bowl might have made for a less pretty plate, but one that made eating less of a struggle. The pizzas were both good but not remarkable, and the same for the pasta. Dessert on the other hand was excellent - the chocolate bread pudding was next level, and the teardrops of whipped cream on top? More please! Overall, it was a really pleasant meal if not one that knocked my socks off. I'd definitely come back to try the brunch since that looks to be pretty special, and the vibe here would make for a relaxing morning.

Jenny T.

Yelp
Food: The 4 of us finished everything! The smoked salmon bagel was delicious, I devoured it! It was the perfect ratio of cream cheese to salmon. The mixed greens were also very fresh. However, would not recommend getting coffee here. The "iced Americano" was like warm. Good brunch, but nothing spectacular. Service: Food was pretty fast, but strongly recommend making a reservation in advance. Thank goodness I made one on a Saturday for brunch. Ambiance: The restaurant is pretty dark inside, but there is outdoor seating. A detractor I will say, is the women's bathroom door wouldn't lock. The bathroom also was tiny, and could've been cleaner.

Kristi Y.

Yelp
came in on a particularly busy weekend. we didn't have a reservation so we got seated at the bar which was fine. ordered a pepperoni pizza which was pretty much just a standard thin crust pizza. the toppings were pretty generous but nothing to write home about. we each also got some mocktails which were pretty darn sweet, but tasted fine. i know it was busy, but it felt like we were being rushed to leave. we were eating our pizza and before we could even order anything else or even ask (nobody really stopped to check in on us), they set down the tab.

Savannah B.

Yelp
By chance, my family and I had been just outside this restaurant when it started to rain, so we decided to come in for an early dinner. I decided to order their steak frites which is a NY strip 12 oz, peppercorn butter, & red wine demi. My mom ordered their spaghetti pomodoro, which is cherry tomatoes, basil, breadcrumbs, burrata & pecorino romano, and my friend got their Margherita pizza which is house-made mozzarella, fresh basil & san Marano tomato. We all loved our food and were so pleased with the quality of everything. My steak was so soft and cut like butter. The fries were ever so slightly oversalted but perfectly thin and crispy. I would come back and order the same thing again. Our waitress was also outstanding. They always kept our soda glasses full and checked up on us enough without hovering. The menu itself is pricey in general but reasonable for Newbury Street in Boston. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a spot for a great dinner in the area.

Salma S.

Yelp
I have wanted to try Sonsie for a while, and I'm very glad that I did! My friend and I ordered the Eggs Benedict, and it was delicious. The eggs were the perfect amount of runny, and the hollandaise was flavorful. The home fries were also seasoned very well. The vibe of the restaurant itself is so nice - it's a perfect brunch spot to enjoy while the weather's nice, with an open view on Newbury Street. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. The only flaw I'd say is that there are no meat alternatives to pork, but other than that it was a great experience. I would recommend Sonsie for a nice brunch with friends!

A C.

Yelp
This place is known for his ambience and view of Newbury st. You can reserve a table in advance online or walk in and ask for a table in the front. There's about 10 or so tables that face the front but only four main tables that are at the front facing the street. You pay for the ambience and view of the street (you can people watch lol) since it's a big glass window (during the summer it's completely open so you can breathe the fresh air in). Basically the food is okay, decent normal American food and some appetizers here and there, but can be pretty pricey. You pay for the views/ambience really but I have been twice and it's worth it in my opinion.

Harrison I.

Yelp
Sonsie was quite a nice restaurant with a great vibe inside. All of the windows were open into the restaurant on the night we went which was really nice. The food was really good. The chicken parm sandwich, which sounds simple on the surface, was elevated and was the best chicken parm sandwich I've ever had. The pasta was good too. The service was excellent!

Kevin B.

Yelp
This is a lovely restaurant and one that we would visit again. We came here for brunch while in town for a conference and we had a large group, so we were seated downstairs in the wine cellar, which was a great setting for a meal. Our service was very good considering we had a group of 18. I had the chilaquiles and my wife had the fried French toast, both of which were cooked well and were delicious. The real star of the meal for me was dessert as they had a fluffernutter ice cream and I couldn't pass that up (it was amazing!). We'd definitely come back!

Pam O.

Yelp
Service was great! Food was also great and large portions. The vibe was fun but not loud.

Jesan A.

Yelp
The food here was great, loved the ambiance and service as well. You can opt for a French bistro style of seating both indoors and outdoors (season dependent of course). It's a fun intimate setting to enjoy with others, I would recommend checking our Sonsie at least one. Your typical French/American restaurant fare food-wise, so if you're looking for something very unique of out of left field, culinary wise--aim for somewhere else.

Chengru L.

Yelp
Cute brunch spot on Newbury. We came here for a Sunday brunch and it was pretty packed. I got the chowder and French fries on the side. They were both pretty standard. The cocktail The Garden was amazing! Didn't even taste alcoholic so highly recommend.

Hegne G.

Yelp
Sonise is very nice! Food is delicious, costumer service is great and drinks are on point. Really enjoyed the entire experience.

Erin O.

Yelp
Finally got around to trying this cute restaurant at the western end of Newbury St! This place has always caught my eye with their nice interior design, so I was excited to check it out and it did not disappoint. I got a reservation for Friday lunch, which I'd honestly recommend because they did end up getting pretty crowded. We got seated in the back of the restaurant, which was just as nice as the front, but slightly comfier and cozier. It was the perfect spot to talk and catch up with friends, but also just enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant. I ordered a cold brew irish coffee - which strangely didn't get sent to our table until after the food had already arrived. And for my main dish I ordered their eggs benedict. I really enjoyed the eggs benedict as the eggs were perfectly runny, the sauce was lightly sweet and flavorful, and the home fries were delicious and covered in sauteed onion. The portion size was perfect for brunch and left me satisfied. The irish coffee was good but nothing super special. I'd definitely consider coming back here for brunch or dinner to try something else off their menu!

Madison S.

Yelp
Terrible experience. We were told the wait would be an hour so we agreed to wait. After an hour of waiting right by the host stand while multiple tables sat empty I checked in with the hostess who couldn't have cared less. She said she didnt know how much longer it would be, maybe 30 or 40 minutes. The manager didn't care either. He said sorry I will tell them not to do that. We understood the reservations issue, but you cant quote a walk in wait time with no intention of ever sitting them. Even worse is to know you have no intention of sitting a party and have them stand right next to your for an hour and you never think to say hey, we actually are not going to be able to seat you. Unbelievable.

Robin H.

Yelp
We stopped in for a cup of tea so cannot comment on the food. While the tea was presented nicely in individual pots, the tea was weak...nice to sit and watch the passersby and great service though. And our one friend that had a mock tail loved her selection.

Emma C.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday for a friend's birthday dinner. It was surprisingly quiet but we brought the fun!! Really loved the inside but wish we had a circle table so we could all be close to talk. Our table ordered 2 focaccia apps which was delicious (warm olives- yum!) For my main entree I ordered the shrimp scampi which was great but a little spicy (be warned!) and not much shrimp...The main reason why I could not give 5 stars was because of our waiter. He was not bad in any means but definitely did not like us from the second we sat down. I understand a big group of 25 year old women can be a bit much, but as the restaurant was not that busy, he could have been a little kinder.

Raven M.

Yelp
This place is one of my favorite local spots - I haven't had the brunch yet but I love it for dinner, so much so that my fiance and I go every year for Christmas Eve. The menu is often updating which is fun, the restaurant is very cute and romantically dim, (also they decorate very well for Christmas haha), and the food is good. I do agree with other reviewers that the food is generally pretty salty, but I love salty food so it isn't too much for me! Today was the first bad dish I've EVER ordered there so I am sharing it (do NOT get the French fried scallops) but the experience wasn't bad enough overall for me to remove a star just for one terrible, albeit creative, dish (the server quickly took it back, took it off the bill, and gave us free dessert which was very kind). Today we ordered the croquettes (4/5), the spaghetti pomadoro (4/5, needed a little something more but very good overall), the French fried scallops (0/5 what were they THINKING, it was 90% mushy cold french fries surrounding a very little scallop-y mush center. I saw two other tables send it back), the mee krob (5/5 amazing, quite spicy though - I love spicy food and have an iron stomach but halfway through my eyes almost started watering so be warned!!) And chocolate bread pudding (5/5 YUM).

Miranda G.

Yelp
Didn't plan to come here, but was super impressed with eat layout of the restaurant. It's right on Newbury and they have a section where you can sit facing the street and people watch! I thought that was super cute and added a lot to the ambiance. The food was also delicious and I would definitely come back to try more of the menu. I especially liked the French toast.

Brandon Q.

Yelp
Had been here previously and remembered the great food, so came in without a reservation and sat at the bar. Liz gave us awesome service, she recommended the chicken parm sandwich and it didn't disappoint. She also makes the best espresso martinis! Thank you Sonsie- great as always and thank you Liz, we'll be back because of you!!

Hannah R.

Yelp
I came here with a group of friends for their Thanksgiving menu! Food: It was delicious with rich flavors. My favorite part of the meal was the mashed potatoes & the apple pie. The potatoes were well seasoned & the crust on the pie was incredible. Vibes: we were seated in the back & were able to chat without it being too loud. We enjoyed looking at the art hanging around the dining room. Service: great service! Our server was attentive & we never had empty water glasses. Transportation: easily accessible by the green line.

Willow O.

Yelp
The food is overrated in my opinion, as they have very limited plant-based options. The tables are New York style and very close together. However, if you are looking for an aesthetic photo-stop they have very pretty drinks and some cute backgrounds. I was surprised that they had aperol spritz pitchers for a decent rate!

Melanie H.

Yelp
This place caught my eye as I was walking on Newbury because it looked so cute and quaint and boy did it not disappoint! The place was pretty packed on a weekend afternoon but luckily my friend and I didn't wait long without reservations and ended up getting a cute table facing the street windows that usually open up during the summers/when it's nice and hotter out. Honestly just the placement of their two seater tables is such a cute design to enjoy the outside while catching up with someone and eating brunch. The food was absolutely delicious. My friend and I split the breakfast pizza and the chilaquiles. For someone that doesn't usually like eating eggs, I'm really glad I tried the breakfast pizza because it was so yummy and filling. The chilaquiles takes the cake, though, for being just the right amount of flavor, meat to tortilla ratio, and crispiness. I would definitely want to come back, especially during the summer time!

Simone P.

Yelp
I came for quick bite and drinks. The octopus was amazing and a great portion size. The mushroom croquettes were fine, but not necessarily very flavorful. The espresso martini however was very disappointing and included Bailey's so very creamy and not a traditional one. All in all I'll be back to try more items abs service was great.

Hannah G.

Yelp
Came here a couple weeks ago with a friend and had the most amazing meal. I had been before for brunch but never for dinner. We sat right near the open ceiling to floor windows and got some great people watching in. When the Tuna Tartare, pork belly Bao, and mushroom Croquettes came, we knew we were off to a good start. The Tuna Tartare has crispy rice in between the tuna and avocado, adding the perfect crispy element to it, and the mushroom croquettes were just heavenly. The pork belly Bao was also very good. For mains, you can't go wrong with the Sonsie Smash Burger or the Burger pizza, they just really know they're burgers here. The bolognese is also great, and the drinks are as good as they look. Highly recommend this spot if you're on Newbury.

Liz R.

Yelp
I came here with my family after spending the day on Newbury Street. We read a bunch the menus outside and this one stood out to us. Inside the ambiance is upscale, yet relaxed. Our waitress was super kind and always made sure our drink glasses were full. I ordered the margarita pizza and it was delicious! I am kind of picky with my pizza, but I loved this one. My only complaint is that the bathroom is down a large flight of stairs which wasn't accessible.

Kirtana S.

Yelp
Good drinks but not good food. Over priced and service is decent. There are better places to choose on Newbury than here.

Amanda G.

Yelp
Food was very good and it's a much bigger establishment than expected! The server was good and the vibes were cute! Parking could be very hard to find as it's in Newbury St, so keep that in mind if you're driving. I will say, it is very close to public transportation, so still very easily to acce

Huilei X.

Yelp
Lovely atmosphere! Food is ok but be careful they we got charged $14 for still and sparking water as they didn't mention it when asking if you'd like tap or still water.

Bea T.

Yelp
This has been my go-to place for the past 2 decades! Yes it's been there for ages and the ambiance has not changed! The only difference is that they did change the menu which is equally Delicious from back then and they still have the warm chocolate pudding. The only thing is that the presentation is poor unlike how it used to be presented in the past. They put him on a small place and it looked like cow dung in the dark. It tasted the same though. Thank goodness. The service was so nice we had a lovely server name Sara. I had this year's scallops and the pork belly buns and the Korean chicken wings were which were actually delicious! I would love to come back again to my Old neighborhood Restaurant.

Erin W.

Yelp
Went here midday for "linner". The place is so cozy inside. It was decorated for the holidays. Really impressed with the ambience!!! Very romantic. We sat at the bar. Got assertive service ... but not the friendliest service. Kind of disappointing, since most bartenders are extremely friendly. Maybe it was because we came at an off time, in between lunch and dinner, but still ... not really an excuse for a lack luster personality in a customer service position. Anyway, the drinks were ok. The cocktails were a little pricey ... but pretty par for what's out there. They're all really creative. Loved that. However, mine was definitely missing the edible glitter, so thumbs down to that. ESP since I got the drink ... for the glitter. #basic We also got a super "special" beer on tap. It was called the Hill Farmstead Edward. In all honesty, it was really good!!! Would definitely get again. So weird though that it was marketed as being super limited edition, but the bartender couldn't tell us why ... or really anything about the beer. We had to google it ... so another thumbs down. With regards to the food, it was tasty, but in my opinion, too expensive for the portion size. We left ... still hungry, AND we got dessert too. Hate to say that, but it's true. There's nothing more disappointing than leaving a pricey meal still hungry. All in all, so loveddddd the look of the place. Everything else though ... wasn't really worth it for the price. Especially when there are so many other restaurants like this out there. I'll probably go back at some point ... but not for awhile.

Yelp
I was visiting Boston from out of town and came here for Sunday Brunch based on their positive reviews. Sonsie did not disappoint! Their menu featured classic brunch favorites, along with creative options. Our table ordered their Avocado Toast, Traditional Breakfast, and Brunch Pizza. All three were delicious! The Brunch Pizza was full of flavor and texture with so many toppings that worked perfectly together (bacon, home fries, caramelized onions, roasted tomatoes, diced green onions, mozzarella cheese, Tabasco, hollandaise sauce, and a fried onion). Their Avocado Toast and Traditional Breakfast were fantastic as well, and worthy of being restaurant favorites. Drinks were great, and server was attentive and friendly. I'd return here in a heartbeat the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
I've heard mixed reviews for this place but my first visit and impression were rather positive. The servers here are super professional and friendly but seem to be quite busy so this is a good place to go if you are not in a hurry. 2 of us split a bottle of wine and each got an entree. I tried the bolognese ($27). The pasta was cooked al dente and the sauce tasted meaty but I wish there were more bits of meat in the sauce. Overall the dish was on the saltier side but nothing unmanageable! The decor inside is cute and you can sit at window-facing tables to get the outdoor feel without freezing in the cold.

Yelp
Came here for an early dinner, ordered the pepperoni pizza, mushroom/oyster appetizer, and dumplings. The ambience is great (love the open patio concept), but the quality of food is quite average for the price tag.

Yelp
The bartenders were very creative with their drinks here, and you have great recommendations for what a tourist should be doing in Boston. A great spot for a cocktail or a quick appetizer in the heart of Newberry Street. You can't go wrong here.

Yelp
A Boston institution. Still awesome after so many years! Great drinks, great food, great people watching on Newbury.
