A few friends were getting together at Sophie Cocktail and Terrace and invited us to join them. We were excited to checkout a rooftop bar and spend some time catching up with friends. The entrance declares an upscale aesthetic, with most seating outdoors with cross hatched fencing that primarily leaves a view of the sky.
We were a group of six, seated on the sofas. While visually pleasing, the sofa arrangement made conversation within our group nearly impossible - requiring the group to break into smaller conversations. The depth and height of the sofa also left us fairly uncomfortable as well (we're a little older so this might not be a problem everyone faces). Nonetheless, the ambiance was striking.
We took a little while to get served due to a mix up, but the server was incredibly attentive and friendly once she realized what had happened.
As the evening wore on, the music got louder, making conversation more and more difficult, especially with the odd seating arrangement. We, as a group, ordered fries, baked Brie, vegetarian Flatbread and numerous cocktails and a couple mocktails. I did not get a chance to try the cocktails and I understand these were the definite highlight for Sophie.
The fries were a solid 3.5/5 - skinny, but crispy and tasty with a special seasoning to add flavor. The mocktail I had was oddly flavored and did not taste the way I had expected. The vegetarian Flatbread was deeply disappointing - 2/5. The bread itself was okay but the chosen vegetables, cheese, and moisture were odd or lacking. The baked Brie was the best item, but was hard to cut and no actual cheese knife or cutting knife beyond a butter knife was provided.
The cherry on top of this average experience was the fact the restrooms were unable to be locked, were sticky, and smelled.
I unfortunately cannot recommend coming to Sophie, except only for the ambiance/vibe and rooftop experience.
