Best Rooftop Bars and Restaurants in Houston | Eater Houston

"Though the sultry downstairs lounge at this Montrose cocktail bar might feel more like Paris, the rooftop terrace feels more like the South of France. Head upstairs for a bright ambiance, complete with cocktails like From St. Tropez, With Love — a Saffron-infused tequila drink mixed with Chinola passionfruit liqueur and habanero syrup, and house shots like the Riveria, a mix of tequila, mandarin, and lime. The menu also boasts a combination of shareable dishes like duck confit flatbread and heartier plates like the Sophie burger and lemon-butter fettuccine topped with caviar." - Marcy de Luna

"Montrose’s neighborhood collective heats up with this cocktail bar and lounge, which delivers a two-part experience with an air of French je ne sais quoi. Peek behind a curtain downstairs, and find a sultry cocktail lounge that channels the romance of Paris with velvet seating, oversized chandeliers, and cocktails like its My Friend Picasso. Made for two, this take on a gin and tonic features French gin infused with lemon and thyme topped with elderflower tonic. Upstairs, the bright rooftop bar is more French Riviera — with views of Montrose’s busy corner, live entertainment on select nights, and plenty of refreshing cocktails with floral garnishes. The food is just as alluring, with lemon-butter fettuccine topped with caviar, charcuterie boards, and its Sophie Burger topped with gruyere and caramelized onions." - Marcy de Luna

I had a wonderful lunch date with my daughters, and it was truly amazing! The food was delicious, and we all enjoyed it. The service was excellent; however, I’m not a fan of places that add service fees. The location is absolutely charming, and we captured some fantastic pictures. Just a heads up, parking can be a bit tricky, so I recommend using the valet service on the side street.

We visited Sophie Cocktail & Terrace Bar in Houston and tried the Baked Brie, Watermelon Salad, and Sophie’s Sliders. The menu is very limited—just a few salads, small bites, and some hot options like sliders and toasts. We expected the sliders to be more of a light bite, but they were basically mini burgers. The cocktails are pretty and Instagram-worthy, but very light—more for the vibe than for the alcohol. The real standout is the beautiful terrace: white couches, flowers everywhere, and cooling fans that make it comfortable even in the Texas heat. It’s definitely a cute spot for photos and a chill girls’ day out, but we’d love to see the menu expanded with more creative small plates.

What a great experience. They were pretty busy on the Saturday night after Valentine’s. My girlfriends and I chose Sophie. Despite being busy and lots of items on the menu were gone (it was 11:00 pm after all!) we received excellent service. The drinks were delicious and we enjoyed a tasty hamburger and mozzarella bites. Overall we enjoyed the vibe upstairs, decor, drinks, and snacks. Staff was amazing.

Nice and cozy bar. We made reservations but somehow it got messed up. But the host was nice to find us a place. We sat downstairs in the red room which was nice but needed more air. It was hot for Houston summer evening. The service was great and the cocktails were good. They don’t have a big food menu but it is a nice place to have some drinks before going for dinner. We tried mozzarella bites with Margarita, Lychee martini (too sweet), Mexican candy shots, The queen lover, and old fashion.

The ambiance and the place is so beautiful. The cocktails were all great! I didn’t try the food but will definitely go back for it. Got a lychee martini that was made to perfection.

Sophie Terrace & bar Restaurant is a gem! The interior is cool and inviting, creating a perfect ambiance for a relaxed dining experience. We enjoyed brunch there and everything was delicious. The cocktails were lovely and well-crafted. Everyone was dressed well. While it can get hot during the Texas heat, the outdoor fans they provide make it decent to enjoy the outdoor seating even in the summer. The Manager was really nice and made sure we were comfortable . A fun spot for a delightful brunch outing with girlfriend or your partner.

The place itself is cute but not worth it . We made reservations and they had us waiting around and nobody at the front . Some lady came up to us to sit us and she was still trying to figure out where to place us . The place wasn’t full at this point . It just seemed very unorganized. The menu was new so most items weren’t available, which is kind of weird because at this point when a new menu is put out , it should be available. The waitress was rushing and everyone seemed to be everywhere . My food was okay but very small for the prices . The drinks were overpriced. One one ounce drink from $17 bucks , which was practically juice , a big no for me . Once the check came you can see that they add a 20% tip , and a no cash fee , kinda weird for being an upscale place . People should have an option to tip whatever they want . I understand if it was maybe a large group but for small groups it is charged the same . The food came out at different times . The appetizers came out okay but then the main dishes came at different times. The pasta was the last thing to come out . By the time everyone was done eating they arrived with the pasta. I would say go try other places that have a better service and even better food .

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Went to Sophie’s last weekend for brunch, and I honestly felt like I was transported to the south of France! 🇫🇷 The food was out of this world. The croissant sandwich literally melts in your mouth—so buttery and flaky that it’s impossible to resist 🥐. And the omelette? Absolutely to die for! 🧀🥚 It’s perfectly cooked, light, and packed with flavor. Every bite felt like a small luxury. The portions are incredibly generous, so you’ll definitely leave satisfied. The drinks were crafted with precision and tasted amazing 🍹. Whether you’re into cocktails or a refreshing mimosa, their drink menu has something for everyone. As for the atmosphere, it’s impossible to beat. The terrace has a laid-back, elegant vibe with a touch of French Riviera charm 🌿. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, sip a cocktail, and let the world drift by. The decor, the music, and even the soft breeze just added to the magic. And the service? Beyond flawless! Our server was warm, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. They timed everything perfectly, checking in just the right amount without ever hovering. The whole experience from start to finish was pure perfection. ✨ Can’t wait to go back!

Yelp
I've been to a handful of spots in the Montrose Collective but last summer I noticed this place pop up on my search. After a girls dinner at Travelers Cart we felt this would be the perfect spot for a nightcap...and we were right! This is a review for the living room experience only because we were invited to the living room, but I highly recommend the living room specifically for a girls night nightcap! The space is sultry, sexy, intimate, feminine, and a little French. Hostesses care for each table and drink and food orders arrive with haste. We did not have to lift a finger! I originally tried the "From St. Tropez with love" but wasn't a fan of it as a sipper. The chinola liquor and habanero syrup overpowered the other ingredients. I'd love this little fire cracker as a shot, but not a drink. So my waitress graciously replaced my drink with an old fashioned - which was a bit sweeter than the classic but delicious. As far as shareables, the baked Brie is a must try (unless you can't take the spice). The toast points are house made and the dish tastes like edible comfort. It made me want to try the other menu offerings. It warms my heart to see their brunch offerings and a mini happy hour menu. We'll be back next month, we may have found a new post girls night hangout!

Yelp
Would sadly give it zero stars if possible - I'm actually reporting to you live from my table to tell every one of you to avoid this place. To start, drinks were mediocre - something I could have forgiven, if the rest of the experience was even remotely decent. Staff was too busy milling about and flirting(?) with random guests to come by and get our orders, or bring the check despite multiple requests to do so. One of us ordered the fettuccine with caviar (the most expensive dish on the menu) and it was legitimately inedible. The bathrooms had no toilet paper (very chic, very french!) or hand towels - not sure how that was possible seeing as we were some of the first people to enter the establishment tonight. I also want to clarify that I rarely write yelp reviews, let alone negative ones. Take that information as a warning sign to not patronize this establishment.

Yelp
I was looking for a nightcap after having dinner in the Montrose area when I stumbled upon 'Sophie'. I knew this spot was relatively new, and since it was a Thursday evening and many bars were closed it seemed like a good option The entrance is very trendy. As we entered the establishment a downstairs bouncer popped his head out and startled us asking if we had reservations. Again, this was late on a Thursday and the place seemed dead, but the question stopped us in our tracks. We said we didn't have reservations and he said we could go upstairs. He then said "why are you looking so scared," which kind of put us off because we had never been there before and the reservations question through us off We went upstairs to the bar area where a couple employees were glued to their laptops. Again, we were asked is we had reservations. We said no and looked around and there were almost no guests. One of the workers (maybe a manager) said we could sit anywhere. We went to the main seating area We sat at a table for 5+ minutes waiting to see if a server would come by or if we needed to go to the bar. No one checked on us. After 5-10min I went up to the fully stocked bar but no one was behind it. I waited a few minutes then sat back down. I looked around to see if there was anyone else I could ask about the ordering protocols. I didn't see a menu anywhere. Eventually we decided we would just walk to another bar. The employees were still glued to their laptops when we walked out. I think they last minute said "goodnight," and didn't even question why we hadn't stayed too long The entire establishments is gorgeous. The decor is trendy, chic, and inviting. I wish I would tell you if the drinks were good, but we never got a chance to try them. It looked like a fun spot, and if I try it again I'll definitely update my review with notes on quality. I will also take more photos on that trip because it's actually a beautiful bar I don't have any tips for the patrons. I would suggest the Sophie staff maybe explain how it all works when you walk through the doors. And maybe you only need one gate check for reservations Cheers

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place by accident! Aren't those the best?! Cute, quaint little cocktail lounge with an intimate speakeasy downstairs (reservations via phone only, I hear). Perfect vibe when you're exiting a delightful Dinner of raw oysters and charcuterie boards on an unusually warm fall evening with bae....you're full on food but not quite on licka The drinks tasted about as delicious as drinks at your typical Craft cocktail bar. Not strong...nothing like that, but you will feel a little fancy! Plenty of seating at the bar! I hope your bartender takes a shot with you like ours did! I feel like this is the place the "cool kids" go, ya know? I'm aim to be "cooler" and visit that speakeasy in the near future.

Didn't know about this hidden gem but so glad we stumbled across it and visited! The atmosphere was great! The people...the vibe...the drinks...everything was amazing. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We had a wonderful Sunday brunch experience at Sophie's with a party of seven. The ambiance was perfect--stylish décor and a beautiful outdoor patio made for a great atmosphere. There are multiple parking options, to include street parking, free valet, and a nearby garage. The brunch menu for Saturdays and Sundays were somewhat limited. I ordered the salmon flatbread and had a strawberry lemon drop with it; both were delicious! Though our drinks took a bit longer to arrive, they were so worth the wait because of the taste. The food, on the other hand, came out quickly, and everyone in our group enjoyed everything. Our waiter was attentive, checking in regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. All in all, Sophie's is a lovely spot for brunch with great food and tasty drinks. Looking forward to coming back!

Best drinks, food, ambiance and service. Great place to meet amazing people! Try the Sophie burger. You will thank me!

Yelp
Came here for drinks with my friend and we had a great time!! The outdoor patio was beautiful, felt so girly and French. We also arrived just in time for happy hour so we enjoyed $10 cocktails and the burger which was $10 as well for happy hour. Our drinks were absolutely delicious! The burger was good, I will say though that they do not advertise on the menu that the burger comes with a sauce but it did. We also asked for our burger to be cooled medium and it was cooked well done. Our server was so nice and made sure to check in on us during happy hour so we can take full advantage of the happy hour deals. Our server also gave us great suggestions on drinks I will definitely be back for more cute cocktail moments, this is such a gem in montrose!

Yelp
A few friends were getting together at Sophie Cocktail and Terrace and invited us to join them. We were excited to checkout a rooftop bar and spend some time catching up with friends. The entrance declares an upscale aesthetic, with most seating outdoors with cross hatched fencing that primarily leaves a view of the sky. We were a group of six, seated on the sofas. While visually pleasing, the sofa arrangement made conversation within our group nearly impossible - requiring the group to break into smaller conversations. The depth and height of the sofa also left us fairly uncomfortable as well (we're a little older so this might not be a problem everyone faces). Nonetheless, the ambiance was striking. We took a little while to get served due to a mix up, but the server was incredibly attentive and friendly once she realized what had happened. As the evening wore on, the music got louder, making conversation more and more difficult, especially with the odd seating arrangement. We, as a group, ordered fries, baked Brie, vegetarian Flatbread and numerous cocktails and a couple mocktails. I did not get a chance to try the cocktails and I understand these were the definite highlight for Sophie. The fries were a solid 3.5/5 - skinny, but crispy and tasty with a special seasoning to add flavor. The mocktail I had was oddly flavored and did not taste the way I had expected. The vegetarian Flatbread was deeply disappointing - 2/5. The bread itself was okay but the chosen vegetables, cheese, and moisture were odd or lacking. The baked Brie was the best item, but was hard to cut and no actual cheese knife or cutting knife beyond a butter knife was provided. The cherry on top of this average experience was the fact the restrooms were unable to be locked, were sticky, and smelled. I unfortunately cannot recommend coming to Sophie, except only for the ambiance/vibe and rooftop experience.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night for dinner. Initially wanted to sit upstairs, but decided against it as the environment was extremely chaotic. As I was waiting for a table to be cleaned, I felt like I was in the way, and there was no where to stand and wait. It was also super loud, and the table configurations made it so you had to sit across from your dining parter, and I did not want to yell all night. The outside patio area is more manageable in terms of noise level, but I felt the best space would be the downstairs lounge. We got the My Friend Picasso drink (for 2), which is one of three drinks that is only served downstairs, as it is immersive. The presentation was great, very Aviary-esque, in which there is a fire that allows the herbal flavors to get concentrated for the G&T. The drink was good, but note that it was nearly $50. We were not impressed with the food. The main (caviar fettuccine) arrived before the app (steak tartar). The pasta was mediocre, and it was very difficult to serve into our individual plates. I wish they had provided a spoon for the caviar, because a lot of it was sitting in the sauce on the plate, and we could not get it onto our plates in an elegant manner. The tartar was bitter. I'm not sure which ingredient made it so. We added on the fish and chips, as portions were small. This was the best food dish! Service was friendly. The decor is much nicer in the lounge area, but the back entryway is very sub-par. Valet is complimentary. Very limited street parking.

Yelp
We came here for drinks on a Saturday afternoon and had a very good experience. We had a table on the terrace, which is beautiful - very south of France vibes. Our waitress was great - attentive and took good care of us. I ordered the Mademoiselle Sophie and the King's Lover, both of which were tasty. Only downsides about this place, I'd say, are the prices and the parking. Prices are on the high side although not surprising anymore for this area of town. There's some street parking on the side streets but not much. I ended up parking in the parking garage across the street in Montrose Collective which is very expensive.

Yelp
Limited menu.. 20% gratuities added PLUS a non cash fee 3% and my friend tried to pay cash and waitress said they would have to find cash to give back so you really can't pay cash. Shared bathroom with men and women . No toilet paper holder and toilet was wonky and could have failed in. Also the croissant sandwich was $19 and i can't justify paying that much. Also the croque madame sandwich was literally two pieces of white bread with small amount of ham with an egg on top . very sad. Honestly don't know how this place will stick around . The outdoors is nice and cute place but a lot of issues . The service wasn't very good either , no coffee for brunch either . music wasn't too loud .

Yelp
TLDR: this place is a hot mess don't waste your time i made reservations for my birthday dinner over the phone. they spelled my name wrong on the reservation so they wouldn't seat my friends who got there early. i have a pretty unique name so it's very clear it was mine?! it took over an hour for the table to be ready (i have receipts) and several other LARGE groups that were NOT POC were seated before us. they made our whole group hang out in the tiny lobby area for so long before making us leave to "wait" for our RESERVED table elsewhere so we left to get burger joint. i know this place looks cute on insta but it seems like the service, management, and food are not worth your time or money when there are so many other great restaurants on westheimer.

Yelp
Great ambiene, great service. Love coming to this place. Chill night hang out on the patio, but date night can go downstairs to the Sophie's Livingroom which is difficult to get into at times. Brunch is also on point.

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place out after seeing it all over social media! However it turned out to be such a huge disappointment from the get-go. The customer service was unfortunately atrocious. Upon entering, security told us to go up the stairs and then to the right to be assisted. Once we got to the 2nd floor, it was busy and there seemed to be some gurls taking photos... no hosts or hostesses in sight. The servers we saw seemed busy and avoided making eye contact with us. I told my partner maybe the hostesses stepped away for a second and will be back in a few. We waited a couple minutes and nothing changed... all servers were avoiding us and the girls were still doing a photoshoot. I thought maybe this was a lounge setup where you have to seat yourself, but once we went to the patio a server told us to go back and talk to the hostesses. So we go back and it turns out that the girls that had been IGNORING us to take photos were the hostesses. We ask for a table of 2 and they immediately had attitude when we told them that we didn't have a reservation. They gave us the crappiest table inside, stating that there were no other tables available. However, when our server came by we asked to move and she told us to go wherever we wanted. At this point I had a bad taste in my mouth. We had been ignored multiple times by multiple people. The hostesses also seemed to care more about getting their photos taken than taking care of customers. I told my partner that I refuse to spend money after being treated that way and we left.

Yelp

Yelp
I celebrated my birthday here and had a girls brunch and both times were fantastic!!! I tried the omelette, watermelon salad, duck and fig flatbread , French toast , beef tartare and Nutella crepe. Every dish was delicious! The service was amazing. The server was patient and attentive to a huge group of women. The terrace is cute and the lounge downstairs is beautiful.

Yelp
We came on a Saturday with a reservation. We sat on the terrace which was really cute. Loved the decor and the vibes. It was still a little hot though which isn't a surprise with the Houston heat. They have fans around the area. It took a while for someone to take our order. They finally took our order and we ordered mock tails, but they brought us drinks with alcohol. This was really disappointing. They didn't apologize and they took our drinks and brought out the right ones. The food was delicious and came out really quick! It's a little pricey but pretty typical for brunch in the area. It took a really long time for them to come bring the check as well. They also charge a 3% credit card fee and a 20% gratuity regardless of the size of your party. I wanted to like Sophie but the service was really poor. The vibes were great but I don't think I'll be back.

Yelp
Visited on the July 19 grand opening with reservations for 2 @ 10:30 pm. Hostess was friendly and seated us immediately at the outdoor upstairs terrace by the bar. Our table was situated between a pillar and the bar. There was a lot of people walking by that bumped into our table but it's just how it is with small spaces. Decor is super cute south of France flare. Made me miss St. Tropez! Good vibes and crowd. Make sure you get Giovanna to make your drinks! He's the best! There was a live band that we missed, but afterwards there was a DJ spinning trance/pop songs. Our waiter informed us that food was taking longer than expected due to it being the grand opening. However, he never gave us a food menu. Although we just came for cocktails, I still asked to see a food menu for Yelp! We were given two dishes on the house. Tartare de Boeuf: good light flavors Scallop crudo: a little warm for me, sauce was good I can't wait to revisit when the full food menu is complete and try the brunch!

Yelp
Sophie is cute! You can come here and get the pics for sure. It's aesthetic and cute cocktails before getting to the real bites. We just had fries that were slightly cold and a drink which were pretty good, everyone was mentioned about the burger which looked tasty. So, the music was the loudest I've heard in a restaurant in a long time. I couldn't hear my friend and we were sitting right next to one another and then at some point all 4 lights around us (pictured) turned completely off now we sitting in the dark, and we had to use our flashlights. The server wasnt very friendly, maybe sitting inside would yield different results.

Yelp
Parking: There is parking available in the garage behind the restaurant. To my knowledge they do not offer valet parking, only Marmo across the street does. Seating: You 100% need a reservation. There is no waiting area. There is a small restaurant space downstairs, a few tables inside upstairs, and then the terrace. If you have a large group you will be seated on a couch with a really low table, similar style to a lounge, and not ideal for eating. I came in Saturday night with a group of 3. We had a reservation for the terrace and we were sat at a normal table. We started off with drinks and the baked brie. They have a bar outside so the drinks came quickly. The brie took a little longer but it was very good and worth the wait, it was sweet and spicy, the pistachios added a good crunch. I only ordered mocktails, so I can't speak to the drinks fairly but my friends enjoyed their drinks. For entrees we had the Sophie burger and caviar fettuccine. GET THE BURGER. Presentation? Terrible. BUT it was delicious! The caramelized onions were fantastic and even the fries were good. The fettuccine was a pass, I feel that the caviar didn't add anything to it flavor wise, it was just a garnish. A downside is the terrible lighting, we were struggling to read the menus, some of the light fixtures didn't have working lightbulbs, and the little fake candle on the table isn't doing anyone any favors. But by far the biggest downside is the bathroom situation. It's a co-ed bathroom hallway & some of the doors don't lock. I almost had a random man walk in on me. Totally not his fault. But they should be keeping up with the bathrooms enough to notice broken knobs. There's also a bathroom attendant, which feels odd and out of place especially for having such a small bathroom space. Beyond that, this is a cute place for a date night or a girls night. I'd definitely recommend stopping by and giving it a try.

Yelp
My experience at Sophie's started off a bit rocky, but thanks to the owner and our waiter Kennedy, everything was quickly made right. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly Sophie's burger--it truly is the best in town! The drinks were equally impressive, refreshing and perfectly crafted. The ambiance adds to the charm of the place; it's pretty and aesthetically pleasing, with a dark and mysterious vibe downstairs that sets a unique mood. Overall, despite the initial hiccup, Sophie's has a lot to offer, and I've already returned and brought my girls with me.

Such a cute place to dine and drink with friends. Went downstairs to enjoy bottle service. It was a great night, would definitely be coming back!

Yelp
This place was so cute. We loved it, we only went for a drink and the drinks were so good. I will say it was a little loud to have conversation so not a place for that but I would for sure go again with a group of girlfriends.

Yelp
I've been to this place multiple times, most of the time for some type of event, never casually. The ambiance and decor of the place is very elegant and definitely good for pictures. The terrace is beautiful and would definitely be a nice environment during ideal weather. The drinks are good, nothing extraordinary and there are better craft cocktail places I've been to (they just don't have the Instagramable factor to them). Prices are normal for what it is. I've only had the food from here once, and it was just a charcuterie board. While that was good, the remainder of the menu could use a little more variety or tweaking. Nothing else food-wise appealed to the large group I was here with and we actually ended up going somewhere after to eat. The service has been decent the times I've been here, but expect to have to flag down your waiter when it gets crowded. If the place had a more solid food menu, even if it was just smaller bites, I could see my review getting better. Definitely a cute place for pictures though!

Yelp
I was not all that impressed with Sophie's. Maybe because I came at night time but the vibe wasn't all that great. The DJ was playing very loud music, it was hard to have a conversation. The vibes give off sit down chill but again hard to do when it was loud and packed. I didn't get any drinks or food here because it was overwhelming here but I definitely think for brunch or something, this is a good spot. As far as nighttime goes, I wouldn't come back here.

Yelp
This place is super cute! The patio is soooo nice but needs a little more air to combat the Houston heat. My drink was above average but the patio vibes made it a little tastier. Hope to see more snacky options on the menu in the future. Our server was also great. Look forward to coming back when the weather is more favorable.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this place! Everything about it was phenomenal- food/drinks, atmosphere, staff, and ambiance. This is a perfect place for a drink and patio views! I will be coming back for sure.

Yelp
I was a little confused when I entered because there wasn't a host out front but the ambiance of the entire cocktail bar was cute! Definitely not my scene as far as music (they only play electronic dance music- no r&b, hip hop or even pop music). But cute if edm is your vibe. Food was decent but a bit pricey. Drinks were great!

Yelp
The rooftop patio is beautiful!! With the decor and plants I thought I had left Houston. Lots of couch seating for groups and wicker tables and chairs for couples. I had the Scent of Rose cocktail while my friend had a French 75. The menu is more expensive than other cocktail bars in the city, but they have happy hour until 7 where cocktails are all $10. Great deal. They do take reservations, but they also have 10 or so chairs at the bar counter that are first come first serve.

Yelp
Had the Pain Perdu was absolutely delicious! Our service was top tier! Had the Aperol spritz & Paloma which did not disappoint. Great atmosphere, fun crowd & dj. Definitely a must try!

Yelp
I got the thon cru as an appetizer and the burger as my entree. Both were really good! This spot is really cute inside and out for a girls night or intimate setting

Yelp
I love the concept of it. The entrance and decorations were fab. Nice chill hip music as background. Service was efficient and fast. Drinks were ok. Would love a place for maybe dancing and didn't like that the terrace was covered with plastic. I would go back during day time because it's a cute place for brunch.

Yelp
I've seen Sophie all over the socials so I was excited to book my 25th birthday here with a group of 10. Unfortunately, I did not get to even see my rez through. I made a reservation on OpenTable for a group of 10 on a Saturday. A couple days later I got a phone call from Tiffany, the Event Coordinator, stating that groups of 8+ booked on a Friday or Saturday are required to meet a $75 person minimum ($750 tab for a couple hours). I was confused because this wasn't posted on their website, Yelp, Google, or OpenTable. I told her to cancel my rez because if that's their policy I simply can't guarantee that. She said to call her back tomorrow because she was going to lower the min spend. I have never heard of a min spend requirement from a cocktail bar before. I was expecting her maybe to ask for a deposit or disclose that there will be an auto-gratuity applied. If you look at the menu, the drinks and food are reasonably priced so to meet a spend minimum of $75/person would require 4-6 drinks (within a couple hours) each which is an unsafe and large amount of alcohol for some people in my party (one of the reasons why I couldn't guarantee to meet the min spend). I called Sophie's back and asked for a manager because if a manager could reinforce that the policy is legit & explain the reasoning behind it then I would understand & consider my options. However, Tiffany called me back. During our conversation she asked "what number did I tell you before was the minimum spend?" and at this point I knew it was a faux policy because there's not even a set price. I asked her if she could pass along the message that I wanted to speak to a manager and she agreed. Four days went by and I had heard nothing from this place. I decided this isn't worth the headache and cancelled my rez on OpenTable. Once it was cancelled, that's when I got a call back again...from Tiffany (not a manger). She acted surprised that a manager never reached out and wished me well since I already decided to book somewhere else. I have to chalk up the no manager contact to either a manager wasn't notified of my situation, & if they were then that's poor customer service. Hopefully others get a better experience than I did. I'm actually bummed this didn't work out.

Yelp
This place is pretty cool not going to lie. I've been to a lot of places in Houston and the vibe is definitely there. Great talent. Great cocktails. It's a good place to have a Cigar. Light it up and catch a vibe here on your next outing.

Yelp
Girls night out was such a fun and classy time here we enjoyed two drinks and we were having a blast with the bartenders. friendly staff and such a classy aesthetic. Careful walking out from the upstairs I did end up falling due to a step and the stairs on the way up/down will be difficult if you have problems walking or needing of assistance in anyway. Thank you to the manager that needed up helping me up! Staff is so nice and welcoming.

Yelp
This is a very beautiful restaurant with a super cool atmosphere and great music. My experience with the food was absolutely delicious--I tried the Sophie Burger, and the cocktails were incredibly tasty. The service was outstanding, with excellent recommendations from my waitress. The vibe is fantastic, and the DJ playing House Music made it a perfect spot for a night out if you're in the Montrose area.

Yelp
It is a reservation only place. We didn't know and just wanted to get some drinks before dinner at uchi. They were so unbelievably rude when we tried to go in. They even shut the door in our face.

Yelp
Came to Sophie on a Friday night with some girlfriends. The decor and vibe felt like I was out of town and not in Houston. Immediately entering we where greeted by the hosts. We dinned downstairs in the speakeasy. It was very private and intimate, music was not too loud and we where able to have a conversation. We all had drinks and everyone enjoyed them. I had the caviar fettuccini and I added chicken. We shared the cheese and charcuterie. We also tried the Sophie burger and it was so delicious! If you had to pick one thing on the menu it would be this burger! When we where done with dinner we decided to go upstairs to the patio area. I must say that the ambiance here is everything. This place is also good if you just want to hang out and have drinks, very classy. They also have complimentary valet so that's a plus. Overall, I had such a good time, it checks off many boxes (food, drinks, location, ambiance, service etc). They also have brunch on the weekend, I can't wait to try!

Yelp
Hosted a birthday party here at night on the second floor patio and our party was absolutely dying from the heat. The numerous fans did absolutely nothing, couldn't even feel a breeze from them because they're so small. They need a better cooling system. If it's a hot day, I can't recommend their second floor patio option, it's just unlivable. Our party was so uncomfortable we decided to leave. Otherwise the decor and ambiance of the place were very sophisticated, everyone got the memo to dress up. On a cool day it'd be a neat place to meetup for drinks and just drinks. Their food options are much to be desired.

Yelp
Of course had been looking forward to coming here because of all the attention it's received since opening, but honestly I was pretty disappointed in Sophie. I'll start with the positives. The cocktails we had were pretty good. They seemed to be well made and balanced drinks that were a pleasure to sip. The baked Brie dish was also decent. Had a good flavor. Now for the negatives - We had a 6pm reservation for the outside terrace, but somehow we ended up being sat inside upstairs. The inside was so hot and stuffy it was pretty uncomfortable. They also were pretty busy and the inside space isn't very big so people were frequently standing right behind us waiting for tables. The service wasn't very good either. Our server acted as if she was too busy and overwhelmed. I had to ask for water 3 times before she brought it. She always walked away very quickly as soon as we ordered even one drink so we kept having to try to stop her and flag her down to order a drink for someone else at the table or put in our order of food, despite being ready to order everything at once e from the beginning. She simply didn't allow us the time to even give our full order at once, just would walk away after we said one thing. Were any of the negative things outright horrible? No. However, I feel like there were enough small negative things that I likely won't be going back, and will have a hard time recommending it to others.

Yelp
The space is beautiful and has so much potential. The food was delicious even though our charcuterie board took 1.5 hours to arrive after ordering. Our cocktails were tasty but a little too sweet even though we asked for recommendations that were not sweet to taste. The real issue was the service. Our waiter, William, was dismissive even when present and engaging with the table. He wasn't very helpful or knowledgeable about the menu and seemed like he was withdrawn from the start. We had to ask for more water, ask twice for the missing food items, ask for him to take dirty glasses, etc. When William came to tell us what happened with the missing food items, he said "I don't know what happened to your stuff." And shrugged his shoulders. Say nothing rather than add confusion. The manager came to bring Champagne to the table which was kind. This was on a Monday and it wasn't even busy. For such a great spot, do better with the quality of service offered. Otherwise, this will be another amazing closed location.
