"Customers at South Park Cafe, a 32-year-old SoMa business that just reopened after a two year closure, wouldn’t necessarily know it’s owned by a hot credit card startup valued at $2.6 billion. Sure, it’s not the picturesque, low-key French bistro it used to be — but with trendy new decor made by local artisans and an all-day cafe menu with items like McFarland Spring trout and bread with house-cultured butter, it could be almost any other new, independent restaurant." - Caleb Pershan

South Park Cafe is a local favorite of ours. Outdoor seating near a park with daily specials. The people are awesome and always up for a good chat and drink. Their take & bake cottage pie is rich and dynamic. Excellent flavors all around!

Great revival of an old classic! The food is a mix of traditional favorites that are made with a twist and with plenty of top notch fresh ingredients. I highly recommend the trout and fried chicken dishes. Simple elegant and subtle

How have I not written review for this hidden gem?! South Park Cafe is in South Park which is between SoMA and AT&T Park. I first came for the burger and fries, and then I kept coming back for the burger and fries. Pre-pandemic this would be one of the spots for team lunches we would hit up. Their dinner menu is also FUEGO -- some of the hits are the mussels and the fried chicken. During the pandemic, I'm still getting their burger and fries. I think a recent add was a fried chicken sandwich -- which no surprise was really good! I was nervous about the hotness but it's not a hot-spicy, it's more a hot-kick. Even if you order comes with fries, get more fries. You're welcome!

Very romantic and cozy place. The vegetarian option was pretty good, but could have been a bit more flavorful. My husband said his meat entree was delicious. The desserts were great. Service was very friendly and attentive.

Just had the lamb cheeks lunch special -- it was braised in red wine -- very delicious!! Again, I ate in and it just doesn't have the cozy ambiance that would improve the dining experience here. I ordered the pork confit salad a few times and decided I didn't really like it -- I really hate escarole and that's what the salad mostly is. What I do like is the lamb stew with pasta -- it's very hearty comfort food. I typically take my food to go -- the dining room is uncomfortable to eat it. It lacks character and the banquettes aren't cushioned. For those on solo lunches, bring your own reading materials -- they've only got US News, pretty boring.

The food here is delicious and the atmosphere is very low key. I would consider this a date place as its tucked in South Park away from the hub yet its quite elegant inside. The service was friendly and made you feel special during the dining experience.
