Great local coffee shop in the South Shore neighborhood. Quick and courteous service with delicious brews. Their seasonal drinks are great too. The food is delicious as well (takes a little longer because they make it fresh). The jerk chicken wrap and the turkey bacon avocado panini are our favorites. Often we can't decide so we get both. Great vibe/energy in the place with great art work.

This is a wonderful spot to have a nice cup of coffee or quick bite to eat. The chai tea latte was made to perfection. The barista Jackie is perfect for this place. She is so polite and friendly! It is so nice to see a spot like this in this neighborhood. I grew up in this area. I really hope it continues to thrive!!!!

Visited 3/19/19. Had another good experience enjoying some coffee while working for a few hours. And had a nice chat the owner Corey about the cafe and what he wants this place to be in the neighborhood. Really nice coffee shop run by some great folks. Visited 3/13/19. This place has a great vibe. As good as any I’ve been to in the city. Very friendly staff, great music, floor to ceiling windows bringing lots of light in. And then you have really good coffee and food (had the tasty bacon turkey avocado sandwich). And all at really good prices. Great place to drop in or to sit and work (lots of outlets for plugging in). I’ll be back by for sure.

Walking in give you the feel like if it was and upTown coffee place, so warm friendly ladys taking your order, I had the turkey, bacon & avocado with a hot chocolate which was amazing full of favor. Will recommend to everyone I know to stop by and try it they won't be disappointed.. next time I visit I'm having the Grill-Cheese for sure.. love south shore need more of this hiding gems

Excellent service with a nice atmosphere inside! Baristas were playing some really good music and making even better food and coffee. Turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich was delicious

So STOKED to have a local coffee shop here in South Shore!. The location is great whether you walk, drive or need a quick somethin' before getting on the bus on Metra. Did I remember to mention that the service is first rate and my chai latte was as good as any I've gotten at Starbucks?

This unique coffee shop sits right on the corner of Yates & Exchange. The service is super amazing and the wonderful coffee is brewed fresh every morning. I love modern and simplistic feel of place. 💫

Bought a house in South Shore in February of 2020 and we all know what happened after that. So needless to say, we are a little behind on the neighborhood spots. When searching Yelp, full disclosure, I thought this was a brewery. Gotta admit, slightly disappointed to find out it's actually a coffee shop. But still bookmarked it right away. Finally visited this morning and was delighted with the service, offerings and presentation. Serving Metropolis roasts, a bountiful of special teas and solid food options, this will be a place we will visit often. With industrial decor and layout, plenty of seating and all COV19 protocols followed, SSB is a solid South Shore offering. Hoping the rest of the neighborhood follows suit.

I went in during my morning walk. There was no one in when I went inside. The two employees were very friendly. One was familiar with my area so we have a brief conversation. Due to covid, I had to get my order and leave otherwise I would have stayed and relaxed. I ordered an iced chai tea. It didn't take long for it to be made since there weren't lots of people inside. The portion and price was aligned. I enjoyed the drink when I received it. It was tasty. It wasn't really strong as chai teas may very. Overall great experience. Friendly staff. Helpful outside of my order when I asked additional information. I will be back once in town. Good customer service and friendly staff. Drink was good. Next time may try other menu items.

Can someone tell me the actual time this business is open? I've been here three times and now and each time I come here it's closed. This place was actually recommended by yelp but I am surprised how each time I come, it's closed. Google say they stay open until 2pm and I went there at 12pm but they looked closed, rung the doorbell and it was useless. What's going on?

Tasty Panini/Friendly Staff! I visited this little coffee gem Again(11/26/19.) A cold overcast day perfect time for a warm Friendly place-South Shore Brew! I tried the a Mocha (latte) & Panini (turkey bacon, avocado, spinach, mayo.) Delicious crispy toasted bread & fresh ingredients. Friendly staff! FYI: expansive menu coffee, tea & hot chocolate!

Food: Turkey bacon avacado panini: amazing! It was light with the right amount of everything in the sandwich! Drink: Chai latte: Great! Perfect for a cold day to warm you up. Interior: clean and cute with tables for one. Music was light and not too distracting. The employees were very patient and sweet to every customer that came in.

Much needed business in this community. Black owned, modern and Pretty, spacious, clean, affordable and really good. Would be 5 stars but Service can be slow. My ticket got overlooked my second visit here, waited exactly an hour for a panini sandwich, was only comped a coffee. Mango jerk chicken wrap is spicy but it literally ooze with flavor. Turkey bacon paninis delicious. Both hearty fair portions. I'd recommend a different coffee brand than the current one.

Smooth jams playing. Door open enjoying this Chicago breeze. My coffee wasn't the best but the baristas are figuring it out so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I owe it to myself and the south side to be here. Oh and it's black owned y'all!!!!!

Espresso is on point-rich, velvety chocolate feeling roast. Reminds me of Collectivo's Toro roast. I can tell South Shore Brew are artists who care about offering a quality product. Their roast and their machines and their extraction of this delicious essence are all superb. Thank you! :)

Beautiful, new cafe in the South Shore area, with friendly, young baristas and excellent lattes. We finally arrived after an early golf game (I'm learning to play golf), just in time before closing (we've been eager to try this place out for a couple months now). The atmosphere was great for reading, meeting friends, and working. This location offers plenty of sunlight, and particularly friendly, happy baristas. The coffees (lattes/capps and drip) were medium-roasts, so strong enough to taste, but not overpowering. As good as coffee can be, what makes cafes wonderfully charming is truly the staff; they are cordial and hospitable here (for a Middle Easterner, that goes a long way). This is an excellent addition to the area; try them out.

I recently came back in town and they were closed at 9am on a Saturday! Usually I sit in with my mom when I'm back. That is the second time I came and they were closed. Finally we got to sit in and we ended up leaving with nothing because the service was slow. Everyone got served before us even while we waited to dine in. I don't even think they noticed us walk out

The service was excellent. Very friendly and helpful baristas. The seasonal drinks are a great add with the always delicious food.

This place is awesome! South shore was definitely missing a place to get some coffee and this place is the best! The staff is awesome! They are always willing to answer questions, make recommendations, and they look like they're having so much fun all the time! The coffee is to die for and the prices are right. I see that people have rated the food pretty well too, so I'll have to come back and try the food and make an update once I have a real opinion. I don't even live in the neighborhood but I do love to stop by for my caffeine fix if I'm anywhere near the area!!! Also they have a rewards program and their coffee is better than Starbucks!! Just give them a try!!!!

Lovely Black owned coffee shop on the east side. Grew up in the area and it's nice to support a small business instead of Starbucks a mile away. Parking is sometimes tricky, but this place is worth stopping in for. Highly recommend.

Always love coming here. Summer time especially. Try the key lime basil pie. Also, I will be there this week for the blueberry acai smoothie I believe it is. Looks great. Love the ambiance, shirts they have to buy, artwork, and of course the snacks and drinks. I have to give a shoutout to the vegan apple crisp pie. When I come there all the time, the lady behind the counter knows what I usually get in snacks. But that Key Lime Basil pie is superb.

Say whatttt? A new brewery in South Shore? And it's black owned?!!! Say what say what! Oh wow what a breath of fresh air for the neighborhood. My fiancé and I dropped in for some hot brew and paninis. So sad I missed the grand opening but happy I came to peep what's new, in my neighborhood. The co-owner and staff welcomed us, like we were family. We really enjoyed chatting with him about all things new in South Shore. It's good to talk to someone that's also pumped about your thriving neighborhood. Such good vibes. We ordered a turkey bacon and cheese panini with avocado on the side. It was so flavorful, where y'all get that turkey bacon from? It's sure not from Jewels on 71st lol. Keep up the good work and keep up the beautifully designed brewery! Yay South Shore

The corner café takes on a whole new meaning when you enters the doors of South Shore Brew. With varying offerings of coffee, teas, or smoothies, you can get a refreshing drink or a light snack to keep you moving throughout your day. This quaint coffee shop is great for a Meetup or a little neighborhood chill spot. I got the hazelnut frappe which was really good and the peach cobbler cup. Both were delicious!

I love hanging out at South Shore Brew on weekends ! Great vibes and the baristas are polite with ample knowledge on all the drink selections. The sandwiches and pastries are fresh and delicious. Every drink I've had so far, met to my satisfaction.

Great little coffe place. South shore needs many more business like this one. Loved the theme inside, embracing the community. Breakfast sandwich was tasty and the chi was tasty. Service was very friendly and welcoming.

After being open for nearly two years, it's becoming a neighborhood staple. Amazing coffee and teas, delicious bites to eat and refreshing lemonade and so much more to offer. I wish I could rate it higher. When you go, do try the Turkey Bacon Avocado Panini.

wifi has been down the past couple of times i've visited and tried to get some work done while enjoying my tea/food (which i hardly have been able to actually enjoy because my drinks are almost always extremely hot or made unsatisfactorily. this place has really fallen off from what it used to be. i come here out of convenience bc it's close to home but i think i will just start traveling elsewhere.

For many years, I have said that this location would make a perfect coffee shop (even when this was Jesse Jackson Jr's office space). It is directly across the street from the Metra South Shore line, and it is close to the town houses and condos on 71st Street near South Shore Drive. There are plenty of working professionals who live within walking distance and take the train downtown each day. Finally, someone listened to my subliminal message! I was thrilled to hear that South Shore Brew was coming. They did a great job transforming the space into a clean, modern space that is open, bright, and welcoming. The walls of windows really bring in the neighborhood and make it feel connected to the community. The coffee is excellent, and the food is really, really good! I've tried at least 3 of their breakfast sandwiches. I recommend places like this over Starbucks any day of the week.

This place is tucked on the corner of 71st and exchange, residing in a well architectural corner stone you could very well miss it if you're not paying attention. The inside is a very chill, modern feel with melodies of study chill trap playing in the background. Images of some of Chicago's greats such as First Lady Obama and Rev. Jesse Jackson are displayed on the walls; giving big kudos to the Historical neighborhood of South Shore. Coffee is da bomb! I never found a coffee shop to do a vegan latte just right (almond milk instead of cream). Kendra hooked me up! The Baristas Kendra and Jennifer are super friendly in a warm, "I've known you all my life" kinda way, which is so necessary for early Monday Mornings. Starbucks move over, South Shore Brew is brings the Flavor this neighborhood needs!This is my new spot!

My only concern is that the customer service isn't the friendliest and because of the mask wearing one should make sure one doesn't give the wrong milk to the wrong customer. Dag?! I said almond milk in my loudest deepest voice and you type it in wrong for me as a VEGAN drink regular milk!? Yet I have tried to be nice, friendly, speak or attempt to get to know the staff. Nah, I'll just make sure I enunciate clearly so I can get my drink and leave.

I would give 0 stars if I could. I couldn't even order because of how unsanitary the store was. Flies and rodents everywhere. Not to mention, the owner was very unprofessional and rude to her employees.

Beautiful atmosphere with an amazing menu of specialty drinks, food and coffee. Walking in this place literally shifted my mood. The South Side of Chicago deserves more places like this!!

This place is amazing! The service is impeccable. The ladies are super nice. They have a great selection of drinks. The sandwich menu is limited but tasty. My husband got the breakfast sandwich and it was savory. It's on an English muffin so it's pretty small. I got the cucumber and chicken panini and it was sooo good! I highly recommend it! It was pretty big and so good. I loved it and my husband was in my plate too. I would suggest adding some chips and it is a perfect meal. The hot chocolate was good and they have non dairy options too. I really liked it and I'll be back. So nice to have a great local option in the south shore!

They need to update their hours of operation... they now close at 1pm every day, not 3. Hopefully this review will save another patron from making the drive.

I'm super excited they opened a place like this in South Shore. The cappuccino and vegan carrot muffin were both delicious. Friendly staff and they have WiFi. I will definitely come back and I hope this place thrives!

I needed a caffeine fix and Starbucks just didn't hit the spot. South Shore Brew hit the spot. The staff was welcoming and helpful. Made my coffee to perfection. I'll go every day I'm in Chicago. I even bought beans for when I go home. I'm Really looking forward to coming when the COVID is subsiding. A welcome space in the community that will always be my Home base.

what a great coffee shop! the ambience was sooo comfortable, and there was so much natural light especially since the building was at the corner/ all the walls were practically windows! i got a wonderfully refreshing watermelon mint lemonade and strawberry scone to last me through the afternoon while i got some work done, and it was the perfect pick me up :) they heated up the scone and it was super tender and not too sweet!! there were also lots of outlets :)

This is a nice spot neighborhood spot. Had a cortado and a cinnamon roll, both were great. Good vibe, ok staff.

I just heard about this new cafe after recently moving in the area. I was very happy to see that they open so early and I was able to stop by on my way to work. SUCH EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! I ordered a chai latte with cashew milk. I was glad they had an assortment of milks to chose from. It was tasty and the temperature was perfect. I'll definitely return to try one of their breakfast sandwiches.

I guess I need to wait for the Spring menu to come out. Didn't try the coffee or any of the drinks. This sandwich was just dry, no flavor, nothing for me to remember. It felt like a sandwich for a 4 year old. Very thin, very plain, just blah.

You're greeted at the door, and the coffee drinks are really good. My favorite is the hazelnut iced almond milk latte, and hubby enjoys the caramel frappe. There's seating in side where you can socially distance, and a couple of tables outside.

An absolute Gem!!! I could give South Shore Brew 5x10 stars. I absolutely love this place and I am so happy they opened just minutes from my home. Every Saturday morning I sit and drink my green smoothie in this extremely welcoming atmosphere with the most friendly and capable staff and owners. I also grab my green smoothie daily before hopping on the train to go to the office. Can you tell I love the green smoothie? It doesn't stop there though, the food is also very delicious. If you're thinking about going, please don't hesitate because it will quickly become your 'Cheers' (minus the alcohol of course). They make it easy to patronize this black owned establishment.

This place is fantastic. I loved my turkey avocado panini and recommend the raspberry chai latte. Also the staff were so friendly and welcoming. I love that I have a coffee shop in walking distance of my home. This will definitely be a staple of mine.

1st time visiting n I live so closeeee. I ordered a caramel macchiato and a breakfast panini. Sooo good! Freshly made! I signed up for the rewards program too. Definitely will be going back.

Visited South Shore Brew for the first time recently. I love the location and the cozy atmosphere of the shop. Nice music, clean environment and just a dope vibe. The reason for 3 stars - the drinks were not good at at all. I had an iced latte which had entirely too much ice. I finished my drink in 3 sips. My husband ordered a latte that had no flavor- just warm milk. He didn't taste any espresso or any sugar or anything. It was Just bland. Maybe the barista (who was really sweet) was having an "off-day". I'm open to giving them another try in the future.

i have had good experiences the times it's been open, but it's closed a lot. it's after 9:30am on Wednesday and it's closed. no hours are posted on the door but online says 8-2. I would love to give them more business if you hey were open for it.

Don't let the confusing streets nearby run you off if you're not familiar with the area. This shop popped up on a quick search for coffee on the way out of town and I was stoked that it did! Great coffee, food and even better people! We walked in and not only were we immediately welcomed by the two people working behind the bar, even some of the customers did too! Very cool to see a community atmosphere like that. Couldn't have been happier with the choice to go there, only wish I could go more. Definitely will make a point to go back anytime I'm in the area though!

The perfect coffee shop. I ordered a raspberry mocha, which was basically a perfect, mature hot chocolate. The group I was with ordered the peach cobbler and a cinnamon roll - both dainty, and absolutely perfect in terms of taste. The best part of this place is the lighting - today was cold and windy outside, but the windows let in so much sunlight and the plants made the space warm and cozy. A great Sunday afternoon hangout spot.

Love the hot chocolate with oat milk. It goes down smooth. The grilled cheese and kale sandwich is my absolute favorite. Always a peaceful at atmosphere whenever I go.
