Where To Have An Early Dinner In London - London - The Infatuation

"Polka Kitchen is always a little sleepy, which is part of its charm and makes an early bird booking here totally acceptable. Plus, it’s the only way to make full use of the impressive cake counter—think regal, tiered slices of black forest gateau—without getting a midnight sugar rush. The twinkling chandeliers, velvet booths, and operatic soundtrack at this Polish spot in Ealing suit well-behaved family gatherings. Ones where toddlers bounce on the knee of grandparents who try—mostly successfully—to steer plates of comforting beef stew away from their grabby little hands." - rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, jake missing, heidi lauth beasley

Polka Kitchen - Review - Ealing - London - The Infatuation

"Polka Kitchen feels like a grand, European cafe on a cobbled street in a historic city. And it should be used as such. During the day this Polish spot is all about regal, tiered slices of delicious black forest gateau, comfy upholstered armchairs, and sipping coffee. Come evening, twinkling chandeliers and velvet booths lend themselves to family gatherings. The sort where your uncle can sit in his 'for best' blazer eating comforting, tasty dishes. Despite having a loyal following of Ealing locals, most evenings it's calm and quiet, with the operatic soundtrack dictating a well-behaved vibe. Dishes are presented with flourishes like carrot spears balanced on roulades and quenelles of smooth mashed potato. It might lack some excitement, but the food is all beautifully presented, well-cooked, and feels appropriately special. And the rose-shaped orange garnishes in Aperol spritzes? Our kind of kitsch. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Pause Unmute" - Sinéad Cranna

Where to Find the Best Polish Food in London | Eater London

"There is no definitive English-language genealogy of pierogi — distinctive differences in style do exist — depending not only on the stuff inside, but the makeup of the dough, and the chef’s own preference. At Sowa, where the pierogi are made at a counter in full view of patrons — note the conspicuous bags of extra-fine Polish flour — they’re twice the size of tired supermarket varieties, and rich fillings are balanced by a substantial rope of springy dough at the hand-closed edges. It’s as good as these underrated little dumplings get. Sowa serves one of the UK’s oldest Polish communities, in Ealing, and the upholstered chairs and monogrammed windows seem suited to the central European business-type. There is a good patisserie attached, where you can find the preserve-packed doughnuts known as P? czki." - Stephen Buranyi

Polka Restaurant – Ealing Broadway If you're looking for authentic Polish flavours in London, Polka Restaurant in Ealing is an absolute gem. From the moment you walk in, you feel warmth, comfort, and true Polish hospitality. The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming—just like home. The food is outstanding. 🥟 The homemade pierogi are a real highlight — fresh, soft, and incredibly delicious. You can truly taste the care that goes into making them. 🍲 Traditional Polish dishes prepared daily 🛒 Fresh Polish products available to buy, just like in a high-quality deli ☕ Great coffee and fresh desserts Another thing that makes this place special is the exceptionally friendly and professional staff. It’s rare to find such a dedicated and kind team of waiters. They make every visit a pleasure. Polka is a place you want to return to — whether for a warm meal, a coffee, or to pick up fresh Polish products. Beautiful interior, great service, and fantastic food. A truly charming and atmospheric place ( I love every single tiny vase , on each table, with fresh flowers 💐)!!! The restaurant is very interesting inside — despite many tables (usually full), you can always find a quiet corner, and no one disturbs anyone. From the moment you walk in, the staff greets you with eye contact and a smile, which immediately makes you feel welcome and noticed. Big plus! The menu features traditional Polish cuisine. I do think potato pancakes should be included, but apart from that, everything I tried was excellent. I ordered chicken soup, a pork chop, pierogi with potatoes and cheese, and pierogi with raspberries and white chocolate. For dessert, apple pie and a raspberry ice cream cup. The presentation was beautiful, with attention to detail. Flavor: 9/10. Portions are generous, although the broth bowls are definitely too small — even my kids struggled with the tiny plates and large spoons. One of the biggest attractions of the restaurant is the lady working at her own pierogi-making station right in front of the guests. She prepares the dough, fills it, seals the edges with impressive precision, and forms each pieróg by hand. It’s fascinating to watch — a mix of craftsmanship and tradition. What makes it even more special is the fact that these exact pierogi, made before your eyes, later land on your plate. For children, foreigners, and anyone curious about Polish cuisine, it’s a unique, memorable experience that adds real authenticity to the visit. Watching her work feels like stepping into a small Polish kitchen from years ago, full of warmth and tradition. The location is another advantage: tucked away from the busy street, making the place truly cozy. Curtains in the windows help create an intimate, home-like atmosphere. The restaurant is very family-friendly, with plenty of space even for strollers, and in warmer months there’s also outdoor seating. Cleanliness: 10/10, including the restroom — warm, spotless, cozy, with music and even a hanger on the door (small detail, huge difference!). There’s also a small shop where you can buy sweets, desserts, and traditional Polish treats. Right by the entrance, you’ll find a shelf with chocolate products from well-known historic Polish brands — perfect as a gift. Overall, I highly recommend visiting Polka Kitchen— whether alone or with the whole family. Delicious food, great atmosphere, wonderful service, and authentic culinary craftsmanship. Definitely worth a stop!

We had such a wonderful evening at this restaurant! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt modern and welcoming – stylish décor, cozy lighting, and a beautiful setting made it perfect for our dinner together. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel comfortable without ever rushing us. The food and drinks were delicious, well-presented, and served at the right pace. We especially appreciated the little details, like the fresh flowers on the table and the refreshing jug of water with lime and mint. A lovely place to enjoy time with family – we will definitely be coming back!

I absolutely love this place. Food is delicious and presentation of it even better. They do not compromise on quality the dishes whilst keeping it reasonably priced. I would recommend this place to everyone who loves Polish food! The restaurant is elegant and staff is friendly. Everyone was really helpful making recommendations. Hands down to the owner for coming up with this great concept whist keeping prices reasonable. There are many restaurants charging fortune for poor quality food and services. This place is different! They provided us with great customer service and we will definitely be back. Restaurant is located slightly off the main road in a quiet alleyway. Their selection of freshly baked cakes is unbelievable!

An exceptional culinary experience; outstanding ingredients you won’t find in ordinary shops (porcini and bay bolete stuffing, slippery jack mushroom sauce, wild boar meat), excellent cocktails, and very friendly service. A convenient location for everyone (there is an underground car park next door). And those treats from the “Sowa” patisserie—absolutely delicious (you can even take a whole cake!). Attractive décor, clean and well kept. Tables are well arranged, providing comfortable space for guests who prefer to avoid crowds. Even a visit to the restroom turned out to be a positive experience in a clean and well-maintained environment.

Yelp
I am an avid lover of Polish food and have been to Poland several times. I an always looking for places to satisfy my cravings in London and I am soooo happy to report that Sowa is an excellent option. The restaurant itself is located on a side street in Ealing Broadway. It's a large glass-fronted restaurant with a bakery on the other side of a smart glass partition. A light, bright, airy room with comfy chairs and a smart set-up. Onto the food: my greedy friends and greedy self tried ALOT of food last night. The mixed dumplings were good, all fillings tasty and dumpling skin nicely chewy, these weren't pan-fried though which is my preference. Served with onions, sour cream and smoked bacon. Boar dumplings with creamy mushroom sauce was lovely, super-stuffed with boar meat. Mmmmmm. Steak tartare was small but price reflected this, beetroot carpaccio was beautifully presented and so were the herrings, all of these were lovely, good starters. The beetroot soup was excellent. I had the pork tenderloin for mains, oh gosh, it was so soft and tasty, I was so surprised!! Mash was good, needed more sauce though and the salad didn't match the rest of the plate, veg would have been better. My friend's salmon dish was tasty and beautifully presented, just not typically Polish in my opinion. But, I was here for the potato pancakes with mushroom sauce.....90% as good as the Polish cafe in Gdansk which stole my heart. We had 2 desserts which were lovely, tip: walk over to the bakery and pick your cake from the bakery, not just from the menu. Both were lovely. 2 soft drinks, 2 hot drinks and all this food came to £90. Excellent value, service, atmosphere and I loved the food. Afew tweaks would make this place great-cranberries on pierogi, sprouts and salad garnishes didn't work in most cases and they need to re-word the menu as it just didn't do the food justice. And they need to offer their dumplings pan-fried!! Overall a great option, I am so happy I found this place!!

Yelp
If you're craving pierogies at lunchtime, come here. There are plenty of tables, decent service, and you can even watch the woman who makes them (behind a glass wall)! You can get a small or a large portion, and they come with caramelized onions on top. Aside from pierogies, the lunch menu is on the smaller side (for someone with food restrictions, anyway). That said, my warm tomato soup was delicious and comforting. (I don't believe it's gluten-free, as there are pieces of something resembling spätzle in it.) They were even nice enough to treat my husband's pierogies and my soup as one (affordable!) 2-course lunch. On the other side of the restaurant is the patisserie, with delicious-looking tarts behind the counter and small tables perfect for an espresso-and-pastry break.

Yelp
Super unprofessional service. I was waiting for really long time to be served but ppl who came after me somehow managed to place thier order first and even get the drinks when i was still waiting for someone to come to my table. I waited for few minutes longer and i had to leave the restaurant.
