"Spilt Milk in Logan Square is the kind of dark, laid-back neighborhood bar where everyone (including the bartenders) is really friendly. But those same bartenders will also leave you be if you need time tackling a smashburger out of their resident kitchen, Chubby Boys. Their Chubby Smash is a loaded masterpiece—two thin, salty patties with cherry peppers, béarnaise, bacon jam, fried onions, and Chubby sauce (a creamy, sweet, and smoky concoction). Now, the pop-up has a smashburger operation based in Logan Square’s Split Milk that proves they aren’t a one-sandwich wonder. The highlight is The Chubby Smash—a maximalist combination of sauces, cheese, and crispy onions that fuses into a balanced flavor bomb of saltiness, tang, sweetness, and spice. Pair it with a half-off draft beer during Spilt Milk’s happy hour, or a rotating cocktail like the Erykah Baiju. Food Rundown Chubby Smash Our favorite burger on the menu. Between the salty patties, cheese, bacon jam, bearnaise, cherry peppers, Chubby sauce (a creamy, sweet, and smoky concoction), and fried onions, saying this burger is “a lot” is an understatement.
