The 38 Best Restaurants in Bangkok, Thailand

"Most Bangkok Thai restaurants excel in one or two dishes, so you rarely encounter a menu where every dish is a star. But good luck finding a single dud at this stylish place, which specializes in the herb-forward, seafood-focused cuisine of Bangkok’s eastern seaboard. Don’t miss the deep-fried fish, piled high with garlic and turmeric, or the assertively herbaceous stir-fry of chicken thighs and Siamese cardamom." - Chawadee Nualkhair, Austin Bush, Sirin Wongpanit

Very pleasant, elegant-tasting Thai seafood. The food here is delicious & first-rate. A delicate and smoothly balanced Crab Nam Prik Sauce went perfectly with the accompaning Thai vegetables and herbs. Fresh Water Shrimp fried in Trat fish sauce on top of a lightly fried rice, served with boiled shrimp, pork, soft boiled egg and Nham Jim sauce, created a well balanced harmony of flavors, I will not forget. Finally made it after three visits. I somehow didn't have it at the top of my want to visit list . A big mistake . The ratings are well deserved.

This restaurant's name always comes up when people ask for good, authentic Thai food—and for a reason! They serve delicious Eastern Thai dishes, so make sure you try their signature items. On this visit, though, I was pleasantly surprised by how amazing their signature cocktails were. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more! Another highlight is the service—true Thai hospitality. When my daughter mentioned that the air conditioning was a bit too cold, they kindly brought her a blanket. It’s those little thoughtful touches that make the experience even more memorable.

Authentic flavours, warm hospitality — a must-visit in Bangkok! We had a fantastic meal at Sri Trat — one of the culinary highlights of our Bangkok trip. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and bursting with bold, authentic flavours. We started with the fried prawns and the betel leaf prawn, both of which were incredibly fresh and packed with flavour. The betel leaf prawn especially stood out — a perfect bite of spice, texture, and aroma. For mains, the Thai green curry and chicken fried rice made a comforting, flavorful combo. The curry was creamy and fragrant with just the right amount of heat. And the soft shell crab noodles were a showstopper — crispy, indulgent, and absolutely delicious. The staff were warm and attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere was both relaxed and elegant — ideal for a nice dinner out. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience refined Thai cuisine with heart and soul. We’ll definitely be back!

Our experience at Sri Trat started on a high note, the ambiance was welcoming, and we were seated promptly. Starters arrived in a timely manner and set a great tone for the evening. However, the overall service began to fall short as the night progressed. We were asked for last orders and decided to go with two desserts. That’s when confusion started. A server brought out the dessert plate for the mango sticky rice prematurely before our mains had even arrived. It turned out that our main courses had been forgotten entirely, only showing up after we followed up. After finishing our mains, it took another 10–15 minutes before a manager came by to check in, seemingly to assess if we were done so dessert could be served. It was disappointing, especially considering the number of staff on the floor. While there were many servers, none seemed to be actively checking in on the tables, which left the service feeling inattentive and somewhat disorganised. That said, the food itself was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. It’s a real shame that the service didn’t match the high standard of the cuisine especially at a place where expectations are naturally elevated.

Finally got to try Sri Trat after a few failed attempts—definitely book ahead, as walk-ins are tough. The atmosphere is quite nice and well-suited for a night out. As for the food, it was underwhelming. We tried the special stir-fried crab meat and red curry barramundi, but both tasted fairly ordinary. In fact, the honey-glazed chicken wings were the highlight for me. Prices are on the high side, and honestly, there are better and more flavorful Southern Thai options elsewhere in Bangkok. Worth a visit for the setting, but not a must for the food.

Got recommended by the local people. This place is famous for northern Thai cuisine. The staffs are very friendly and helpful throughout the course. Truly enjoy their dishes even when the taste is different from other places in Bangkok. You should definitely try their Durian dessert, not so sweet and unique👌😃

We came here by chance because it's near our hotel. The restaurant seems to be very popular and full of diners so we were quite pleased to manage to get a table without booking. The service is top notch, one of the best in Bangkok. Food is very delicious and different from what you usually get from Thai restaurants. We had the fried red ruby fish and the curry with young durian; both were excellent. Prices are on the high side but not above similar range restaurants in Bangkok

Service was great. Super friendly and patient. I popped in for lunch and got a couple things because a friend recommended it for their classic desserts. The soft shell crab noodles were quite sweet and reminiscent of Thai food in America…not great. Unfortunately the dessert was also underwhelming.
