Today, I visited Stamey’s Barbecue to try North Carolina-style BBQ for the first time. I ordered a plate where you can choose your own sides, but I accidentally forgot to include one item I had really wanted to try—the hush puppies. Before going, I had done a bit of research and planned to try the chopped BBQ with collard greens, add a quarter chicken, and also get a cup of Brunswick stew. As someone who truly enjoys BBQ, I wouldn’t say the flavors were dramatically different from other regional BBQs, but it was still a special experience to taste a style that’s been around for over 90 years in North Carolina. What stood out the most for me was the Brunswick stew—it was hearty and packed with ingredients like corn, potatoes, peas, baked beans, and more. It had a richness and comfort to it that felt different from chili, but just as satisfying. What really makes me want to recommend Stamey’s to others is the genuine friendliness and efficiency of the staff, along with the warm, down-to-earth atmosphere. With food that good and service that welcoming, why wouldn’t you want to come back?

Google
Pleasant barbecue experience, except no ribs. Pulled pork and chicken is their specialty and they do it well. However, not offering 1/4 dark chicken is unfortunate. Food is well prepared and good portion sizes.

Google
The service here was excellent. Friendly, attentive and welcoming from start to finish. While I appreciate the effort and quality, I personally didn't care for the Carolina-style chopped and sliced BBQ or the vinegar based sauces (or no ribs). Its just not my preferred flavor profile. That said, if you enjoy that style of BBQ, this spot might be a great fit for you.

Google
First time in Greensboro, had to try this place! Really enjoyed the Brunswick stew, and the chopped pork plate. The vinegar based slaw was delicious with a little tang. I would definitely recommend enjoying the delicious food here. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I can see why they have been around for 94 years.....

Stamey's has always been one of my favorite places to eat in Greensboro (I usually go at least every couple of weeks) but I went by there today (5/28/25). It was about 11:15 AM so I was thinking early lunch with no wait. I went in and there was hardly anyone in there. I took a seat and I waited and waited and no one ever acknowledged that I was even in there. Two girls were at the cash register looking at a cell phone .... two different waitresses walked all around me and never even came over to my booth. I finally just got up and left. I never, ever post negative reviews but this was so aggravating. I realize that they won't go broke if I never go back but I guess the business is good enough that they didn't need my business. This is happened before but I have never walked out before without eating. If they had been swamped I could understand but 11:15 in the morning and it was almost empty in there. I hate this because it was one of my favorites. Food is very good ... service not so much. I got a reply from the owner for a feedback email ... it says invalid email so that was no help ... I probably won't be back

Google
This is the best and freshest BBQ I’ve had in a long time. The collard greens are fantastic and the iced tea is perfect. I must mention the servers as they are the best so nice and keep your drink filled. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention their cobbler, it had the best crust in the world and the ice cream on top makes it perfect.

Google
When I don't know what to have for dinner I go to Stamey's because there will always be delicious food. After my experience this time it was ok, the portion was smaller than before and there were many hard pieces in the BBQ. With every bite I had to watch out very carefully. I will always be a fan of this place, so next time I'm sure it will be excellent as I'm used to. 👍 😊

Google
This business has been around for almost a century. Something that lasts that long has to be good. The barbecue chicken has a very sweet red sauce and sometimes I will order the combination plate with the chopped pork and white meat BBQ chicken. It is very reasonably priced and you also get two sides. Normally I get the red slaw which we call barbecue slaw. And most of the time I get the collard greens. Does sweet tea is plentiful and the service is outstanding.

Yelp
Super quick and friendly service! Our food came out hot and full of flavor. We were in and out in about 20 minutes, which was perfect. The place has a clean, family-friendly vibe--spotless dining area and bathrooms. Highly recommend the BBQ, hot dogs, and don't skip the peach cobbler!

Yelp
We went to Stamey's on Battleground for lunch. I got the BBQ chicken with slaw and fries. My wife got the BBQ plate with slaw and hushpuppies. Everything was good and service was great. We did not have room for Cobbler and Ice Cream! Clean refurbished location.

Yelp
For NC bbq, Stamey's offers a solid take at great prices. People who aren't familiar with NC bbq may rate the pork lower but if you know how it differs from other styles of bbq, you can better appreciate it. Chopped pork is going to have a softer mushier texture than pulled pork. You won't get the heavy smoke flavor like other forms of bbq. The sauce is suppose to be watery and vinegar and not thick and bold. If you come in expecting Texas bbq then you'll be disappointed. If you understand these differences then you know Stameys keeps true to the style. Their red vinegar slaw is addicting. It's sweet unlike the typical white slaw you get. Their collards are packed with smokey flavor. The hush puppies have great texture though I found myself wanting something to dip them in. The Brunswick stew was some of the best I've had and worth a try. The peach cobbler with vanilla soft serve was the perfect way to end the meal and a must get. A regular plate at $10 is a steal. Large portion size loaded with meat and more than enough food for one person. Great friendly service and food came out fast.

Yelp
I use the drive thru usually and the service is so fast. Food is always good! I love crinkle fries and this is my favorite place to get them! I think the prices are really affordable.

Yelp
The food was okay. The drive-through service was fast. I got pulled pork with hush puppies.

Yelp
This review is probably going to surprise a lot of the people who know me well, but as per usual, I always try to keep an open mind whenever I go to a restaurant, regardless of any past experiences or memories I may have had over the many many years I have lived in the Triad. To that note, Stamey's was never one of my personal go-to BBQ places, even though it has been a staple haunt of my family at large for longer than I can remember. We had a family member who had moved far away come back to Greensboro to visit, and they were craving the nostalgia of a Stamey's trip with the family. The Battleground location is where we always went due to home proximity, and though that location burnt down and has since been rebuilt, it still has a pretty familiar feeling in there just with some more modern touches, all positive. If I said it has been 7 or 8 years since my last Stamey's trip, that would be true. I will say emphatically, that many things have improved since my last visit. Most notable, the customer service. Our server was energetic, patient, and exceptionally responsive even with a large group that was taking more time than usual. Service was always prompt before, but not always friendly. The restaurant was clean, and the prices remain very approachable for the average family. The food tastes the same, but has improved, if that makes sense. In all honesty, I have always wanted more smokey flavor in Stamey's Q and would really loved to see it pulled instead of chopped which would keep it more moist. What has gotten better, the basic chopped BBQ sandwich is nice and loaded with a generous amount of Q and the right amount of slaw to match. I am more of a "white slaw" person, and would love to see that on offer, but that is not their way here. New to the restaurant since my last visit is the "Hot" BBQ sauce at the table, which adds more pepper and I think tomato sauce to their classic vinegar sauce. THIS was a welcome addition for me, and I think makes a big difference in the ending taste of the sandwich. The sandwich combo came with some good hot fries, and a drink (great tea), none of which I can complain about. I also got a hot dog to go with it, and again, this is an area where white slaw would be appreciated. The flavor of the red slaw kind of dominates the whole thing, and after I took some off, it was better. I do like the frank they are using, and the chili is good enough. In general, I came away from this Stamey's experience much more pleased than I had expected to, and that is a big win for the restaurant. I like some of the small changes, and while I would love to see some big ones, I'll take the improvements where I can get them. Cheers to the staff at this location for making it a solid evening.

Yelp
Food is always delicious & super fast service! They provide all Allergen Information: Dairy Free, Egg Free, Soy Free, Gluten Free, Tree nut free, Peanut Free, Wheat Free. It's on their website & provided below! Super helpful as i am dairy free & most restaurants don't know if there is dairy in each food item they serve, but Stamey's does!! Very Allergy/Intolerant friendly:)

Yelp
It was good but not great. Definitely lacking and a little dry. Price was fair and it was quick to come out

Yelp
Just had this for dinner - this a is typical takeout dinner "go-to" for my family - it's quick, easy, and has something for everyone! The star rating and some of the reviews baffle me - so, I felt compelled to add my "2 cents." OK - it's not the most amazing dinner you will ever have... BUT it's a really good - and tasty - Greensboro/NC staple! Because it's a staple, soooo many have their own biased opinions - admittedly, including mine. Stamey's is the answer to that horrible and almost too late night question: "Wth are we doing for dinner? What's quick, not a typical fast food chain, and pretty good with something on the menu to satisfy everyone?" I find everything good - from the bbq to the hotdogs to the bbq chicken to the hush puppies to the red slaw (love this!) to the collards... and I LOVE the Brunswick stew! Also, I've never had a single stale cracker from here ... and if I did, I still wouldn't care - because I'm not coming here for a frickin' cracker (what kind of silly review did I read!!?!!!!)! The salads are basic, but the ranch dressing is drinkable (if you're a ranch person) and don't miss the sauce for the bbq - the vinegar one (if you're a vinegar person)! They sell it by the bottle for us fan gals and pals! The food is good! It's a bbq joint with delicious southern staples! 5 stars for consistency and a safe bet on lunch/dinner, EVERY time! PS - the milkshakes and cobblers deserve more than 5 stars!

Yelp
Busy times at lunch today for this Stamey's location, but I was still able to find a seat without waiting too long. The restaurant is a seat-yourself arrangement with a rustic feel, simple and maybe a bit noisy due to the crowds, but comfortable all the same. The waitstaff was quick to welcome me and to take my order, and service remained timely and accurate throughout my stay. Brunswick stew seems particularly appropriate this time of year, and so I ordered a cup. Plenty of veggies in there, but I couldn't find much meat among them. The flavor was pretty good but not amazing. My pulled pork sandwich was more impressive than the stew, especially in the amount of barbecue and slaw aboard it. Stamey's pork is a bit drier than I prefer, but the slaw helps out with that. I added a hot dog as well to round out my meal, adorned with slaw as well as mustard, onions, and chili. The frankfurter gets lost a bit beneath all that, especially overwhelmed by the slaw. In short, Stamey's doesn't win any awards for me, but if I'm in the area and in the mood for a quick meal (and prompt service) it's a place I'll return to. 3.25 stars. Maybe 3.5.

Yelp
I usually utilize the drive through and am always impressed with how fast it is. The staff is always friendly and the food is great. Great value. This is one restaurant that I don't feel the prices have increased much. It's been a while since I've ate inside but service is always good.

Yelp
This was a trial for someone who never had BQ and they loved it! We got the quart chicken and hush puppies with dinner rolls along with the cobbler. The service was quick and their BBQ sauce deliciously sweet and spicy. The hush puppies were crispy and chicken juicy! The sad part was the cobbler as it tasted raw and hence 4 stars. We only had take out so can not comment on the ambience, but it looked like a nice restaurant for the few minutes i was there for.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my experience at Stamey's! The employees were so kind and seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs! This is my first time trying NC BBQ and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The chopped pork was very rich but the vinegary sauce and vinegar based coleslaw paired well with it and cut through the richness. They also have delicious hush puppies and hot sauce! The restaurant was packed, but we had great service. Very happy to have been recommended this place!

Yelp
Came here while visiting family in Greensboro,NC. The Brunswick Stew was very good and just how it's supposed to be. Seated promptly. Drinks and food came in a timely manner. The chopped pork bbq but not as juicy on its own as some I've had, however, adding the vinegar sauce mixes well with it and creates a great flavor. My bbq had some bark in it and will try to request "no bark" next time. Hushpuppies were average but good. I was not impressed by the French fries. Plates are priced reasonable and is a good portion. Sweet tea was perfect. Our server was nice, friendly and attentive - checking on us and coming by to refill our sweet tea. Ambiance - Place was clean, well-lit and not loud. Lots of parking. The place has a drive-thru which I think is a plus. I will definitely return when I come back to visit Greensboro,NC.

Yelp
Stamey's is a Greensboro BBQ staple. I will be honest, it is not my usual choice stop, but many in my family love it. When it was decided to be the gathering spot with some out of towners, I went in with an open mind. When I walked in I immediately noticed how clean and spacious it was. Lots of booth and table seating. Simple decor but fit the vibe of the place well. We were a larger party and our waitress was top notch. Some of my family is a bit difficult, and perhaps embarrassing, and she handled every interaction and request with absolute grace. You could just tell that level of customer service is the general expectation here which made for a lovely experience. Our food came out hot and very fast. I got a two meat plate with the barbecue chicken and chopped pork. The sauce on the chicken was tasty, but a bit too sweet and I felt a bit in excess for my liking. I like sauce typically, but I went through so many napkins trying to eat it as it was quite messy. But beneath all that sauce that chicken was very moist which is key for good chicken. The chopped bbq was fine enough, I just feel it lacks much flavor on its own. I was very happy to see that they had like four side sauces you could add as you wish. I used the smokehouse hot sauce and mild dip a lot as they both vinegar based, my preferred. They helped to enhance the flavor. For the two sides I got collard greens and hush puppies. The greens were good but nothing special, but the hush puppies for sure the standout. I love hush puppies and these fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside babies were delicious. Also must say that the plate of food is huge for the price. So you do get a lot for your money. I couldn't eat it all as I was just absolutely stuffed.

Yelp
Disclaimer: I realise I'm not a big barbecue person. My mum was in town, and we wanted her to have a taste of southern barbecue. Now fair warning, we all don't eat beef and she doesn't eat pork either, so we only had the chicken options available for us. We ordered a take away of chopped Chicken-Q, hush puppies, Mac and Cheese, and a peach cobbler. We paired our chicken with bread, which tasted nice, but my favourite were the Mac and cheese and the cobbler. I think their Mac and Cheese were one of the best I'd had (I've not had many, but still!). And their cobbler was so warm and sweet - it hit the right spot! The quantity of their hush puppies is insane, so if you get that for a side, you're set. I would recommend it to someone trying BBQ for the first time at least. It's a nice meal.

Yelp
They have been making bbq since 1930. It's a historic and local establishment. I ordered the sliced sandwich combo with hushpuppies and a cheerwine to wash it down. Here's a food hack. Ask for the chicken sauce to dip your hushpuppies in. So goood! The food was hot and quick!!! There's two locations. One right in the coliseum on West gate city Blvd and the other one is off battleground Ave! So if you're near, stop by and give it a try!!!!!! The waitress was a old lady, but she was fast and gave great service. I think she has been there since the 1930s. Just kidding. But it's a family vibe.
google avatar

Yelp
Chopped BBQ made right. Dine in for a casual experience. Or order it for take out in their drive thru, or inside at the counter. They have full meals, or family packs that are great deals. A family of 4, can eat BBQ, and slaw, with hush puppies, and fries for about $21.50. You can't come close to that at a fast food burger place.

Kenneth M.

Yelp
Bbq is subjective thru out the country but if you are now a fan of vinegar this is not the place to be

Robert M.

Yelp
Stamey's is a culinary disappointment that truly deserves to be forgotten. The food lacks any semblance of flavor, leaving you wondering if the chef even bothered to season anything. It's astonishing that a place like this is still open; it feels like it should have been shut down when the Great Depression ended. If you're looking for a dining experience that excites your taste buds, do yourself a favor and steer clear of this flavorless establishment. Last but not least this is not BBQ! It's a food pantry food line....or maybe on par with your local jail cafeteria. Sweat tea and hush puppies were decent I guess.

Yelp
What can you say about Stamey's that hasn't been said before? Stamey's BBQ is renowned in Greensboro and has worked hard to earn its reputation for delicious barbeque pork. Its location on Battleground Ave is very convenient to quickly blow through the drive-thru and pick up lunch for a hungry household. I can't say enough about the macaroni and cheese served at Stamey's. It reminds me of the southern-style comfort food I grew up eating and it evokes many good memories. The mild BBQ sauce is really good when poured over the BBQ sandwich, I can't recommend it enough. I really like the crinkle fries available with sandwiches. My only complaint is that the hush puppies, normally one of my favorite sides with BBQ, have absolutely zero flavor. It would be nice if they were looked over to see how they could be imbued with more depth and taste. With all that said, you would be remiss if you didn't stop by Stamey's while in Greensboro. There are two locations, one on Battleground Ave and the other on Gate City Blvd, near the coliseum. See you there!

Ella M.

Yelp
Honestly, if I could give it 0 stars, I would! Stamey's is a total disaster. It's ironic that the owner's name is Craver because if you're craving flavor, this is the last place you should go. The food is bland and tasteless, making you wonder if they even know what seasoning is. Seriously, save your time and money--there's no flavor to be found here!
google avatar

Justin R.

Yelp
Greensboro staple... can't beat Stameys! If you like barbecue sauce, order the quarter chicken and chopped combo and ask for the sauce ON the chicken. You will get messy but you will be happy in the middle of the mess! Great for large families because it also CHEAP!!! Support local and eat at Stameys!
google avatar

Kong L.

Yelp
I knew this Stamey's location existed but I'm so used to the one by the Greensboro coliseum that I don't ever come to this one. This experience changed my mind! I'm loving this location. From the natural lighting to the spacious dining room -- it's a hit. The food was fresh as always, especially right around lunch time! The pulled pork was just right, paired with coast slaw and fries. Not to mention -- washing it down with sweet tea! The prices are affordable for the quality and quantity. The large BBQ plate was so big that I couldn't finish it. I think I'll go with a regular next time. Best of all is the vinegar base BBQ sauce. You must be that on your bbq! Overall, the management is fantastic here. The hospitality from the servers made it feel like eating in my own home. I look forward to visiting this location again in the near future.
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
I love coming to visit family in North Carolina because it always guarantees some Stamey's BBQ. This time we took it to go and got chopped pork barbecue, coleslaw and collard greens. I love their vinegar based bbq sauce and put it on my barbecue and collard greens. Both are chopped up a lot which I like. The coleslaw is good on its own but is a little spicy.

Nikki K.

Yelp
I think the food, service and atmosphere were great. I would recommend the chopped pork sandwich combo .

Lynn E.

Yelp
Awful pulled pork. Zero flavor and seemed like it was warmed over from the day before. But...their hush puppies are FANTASTIC, as is the sweet tea. I could make a meal out of just that. The place really needs a reno though. Old, dark, and dreary.
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
We were in Greensboro and decided to get takeout from Stamey's Barbecue, based on seeing one of the locations on the TV show "My Big Fat Fabulous Life." We really like BBQ and this place did not disappoint. We had shredded pork BBQ, coleslaw and baked beans. Everything was very good. I can't wait to try the chicken. Next time we are in Greensboro, we are going to back to Stamey's.

Lisa Kincaid W.

Yelp
I love Stamey's.. but tonight... the chopped pork bbq had a funky taste... like possibly old. I don't know...my company even mentioned it.
google avatar

Mary W.

Yelp
We love good barbecue and Staley's is consistently good. Our waitress was very sweet and provided great service. I didn't get a picture of the fresh blueberry cobbler because my husband gobbled it down before I could get the camera out. I love their peach cobbler but I think all of the cobblers are good. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is because the bun was not hot and soft as usual. Next time we will just remind the waitress to make sure we get a steamed bun as I think it makes all the difference. The restaurant is always very clean both inside and outside.
google avatar

Anthony N.

Yelp
Stamey's is a good barbecue place. I reserve the adjective "great" for Country BBQ, but that doesn't mean I would pass up the opportunity to eat at this location again. The sides are fresher than Country's, but the portions are lesser and the sauces aren't as flavorful (think vinegar). You'll get all the standard BBQ fare here, for sure, and the chopped chicken BBQ is great. I think it's worth a return trip to sample their pork BBQ, which appears to be the centerpiece here.

Keith M.

Yelp
Great good, huge portions. I got the bbq plate, a side of Brunswick stew and a side of collards. Loved everything. And great prices!

Yelp
Amazing food. The service is great and the food comes fast. The mood is like a Saturday lunch with cousins and really great. Love the chili cheese hotdog and the barbecue chicken. You need to try it out.

Yelp
90 years of bbq- YES PLEASE! Voted #1 best bbq in North Carolina! Seriously- yum! They also offer catering. This was our post science center lunch break & it was good! Big dining area- both sides of the building- seat yourself. Our server was at our table taking drink orders & we figured out of food order while she was there- small menu but mighty bbq options! Paul & I opted for the copied pork sandwiches w/fries & hubby & sis went for the dinner platters w/2 sides. Coleslaw, fries, hushpuppies & baked beans were their sides. I'm so serious- food was out in 5 minutes. I was stunned. I'm not a vinegar girl- so I skipped sauce with no regrets- hard wood coals flavor perfect- meat was juicy & moist & gone quickly! Each of us got the chopped pork & Hubby & sis enjoyed the vinegar based bbq sauce while Paul & I enjoyed the meat naked. The hushpuppies were more crescent moon shaped & yummy! I stuffed myself further by ordering the blueberry cobbler (cobbler of the day) with soft serve vanilla ice cream and Oh My Yes! I didn't finish it- but it was worth finishing the meal with an amazing dessert! This placeis all the way give stars from fast service to delicious bbq!

Yelp
My coworkers and I visited here. We had a huge party of 12 and was seated within minutes...2 separate tables but side by side. We arrived around 11:45a and the lunch crowd was starting to hustle on in. Our waitress was Amazing and very patient with me(I have a difficult time ordering). Our food was on our table within 6 minutes of us ordering. Waitress kept our drinks / water full and confined to check on us throughout our meal. I ordered the chopped bbq sandwich with coleslaw and baked beans. Very Delicious!!! No complaints... Totally forgot to snap a pic of my dessert. I ordered the Peach Cobbler, in a to-go container. Let's just say I finished half of it while we were sitting. Being extra cautious with the rapid COVID-19 I washed my hands for 20 seconds using soap and water in the restroom and what do I see before I exit... A door with a Foot Handle!!! How Awesome Is This? I was so impressed I snapped a pic. Great way of keeping our hands clean when leaving the restroom. Signed... A Satisfied Customer.

Yelp
this was my first visit there and was told it was some really good bbq. I was met by my server, I never got her name but she was a young girl, very friendly and took care of us promtly. I ordered the chopped pork and 1/4 chicken with a side of mac and cheese and baked beans as well as a side of BBQ sauce. The food arrived promptly, the chopped pork was tasty, I did use some of their house hot bbq sauce and boy that was good. the chicken wasn't dry at all, pulled it right off the bone and dipped it in the side of BBQ sauce and that hit the spot. Their sides are flavorful too. the one knock I have against the visit was that we were also helped by an older waitress, wore a mask...my stepdaughter had asked for a milkshake and was given the wrong flavor,....it happens...she let the waitress know that it was the wrong one, the waitress then rolled her eyes and took it away an brought another one. My stepdaughter then asked for some ranch dressing and that same waitress said "no"...and walked away.... I was a bit shocked but asked the younger waitress who initially helped us for some ranch and she brought it right out. Other than that, I'd the food was good and flavorful...oh, but the menu is limited...no ribs or such...just chicken and chopped pork, if you're looking for ribs or something else, you'll have to go elsewhere.

Yelp
Barbecue plate with hush puppies and macaroni and cheese was phenomenal! Perfect portion and the sides were delicious! Definitely recommend trying their desserts as well!

Yelp
The best hotdogs in Greensboro.. I like the old fashioned steamed bun .. with the hot dog chili and Carolina style slaw ( vinegar based ) .. and the one place I always get Cheerwine .. seems to go well with the hot dogs .. and don't miss the peach cobbler .. Delicious

Yelp
My gf and I have done 13 of the 20 NC Historic BBQ trail spots in the state. We were very excited to try out Greensboro's best shot at BBQ. We found it to land right in the middle of the trail offerings. We enjoyed the meal, and would definitely call it above average bbq, but wouldn't put it in our top 5 compared to the rest of the trail we have tried out. The bbq was chopped nicely, and the price is great. Just nothing very memorable we can keep with us. It was just basic bbq done right, which I can appreciate. If we lived in Greensboro, this would be a regular stop. So I definitely recommend stopping in, but if you're looking for best bbq in a 50 mile radius, Winston Salem is very close by with a few stops on the trail.

Yelp
A standard in Greensboro. My son was in town and wanted some local favor. Stamey's is an example in Western NC which means it is only from the shoulder (not whole hog) and the sauce has a bit of ketchup in it. I find that I enjoy the sliced more than the pulled. The meat seems to have a richer flavor and I like the mouth feel. I also enjoy the Brunswick strew and my go to lunch is a sliced sandwich, stew and iced tea. Service is very quick and always friendly. If you find yourself in the area, you ought to stop in.

Yelp
Stameys Barbecue is a Carolina Classic, I'm pretty sure you can't live in the area and not have heard of it! I kept seeing a new menu item the chili cheese dog and I wanted to try it, I wish there was a little more chili and a little more cheese but overall it was a good dog. The BBQ, hushpuppies + fries have been consistent throughout the years and amongst both locations. They have online ordering and car side to go if needed. They also offer catering and you can order ahead through the website. Another great thing about Stameys is the price point, we got a bbq sandwich, chili cheese dog, hushpuppies and 2 fries for $12 and some change.

Yelp
I've been to Stamey's several times throughout the years and their food is always on point. This time I did takeout and it was just as fresh and hot as if eating in the restaurant. I decided to go with the chopped barbecue plate and it was delicious! If you're not a fan of sweet hush puppies, Stamey's is the barbecue place for you! Their hush puppies taste like warm buttermilk cornbread fresh from the oven.

Yelp
From someone who grew up in Texas, let me tell you, this shouldn't even be considered barbecue. Whatever that was that I just ate cannot be considered barbecue. And the sauce...what a joke...vinegar with meat drippings?! No other true barbecue sauce to disguise the flavor of the "barbecue"? Unfortunately we ordered several pounds of it so my husband who has very little sense of smell will finish it up. Save your money and find a place that serves Texas-style barbecue...true smoked pork and beef brisket and real sauce. See photo of cold "barbecue"

Yelp
Down to earth and family friendly place. We were vacationing and found Stamey's BBQ through Mark Wiens food review video. Have never had Carolina style BBQ (with vinegar) but the BBQ was delicious at Stamey's. What made the experience even better was the kindness that the cashier and cook showed, knowing we weren't locals. They were patient as we took our time to consider the menu, ask questions, and order. They could have rushed us as there were others behind us, but customer service was top notch. They even gave us samples to try. Food was excellent (pulled pork and chicken BBQ), and the people at Stamey's are kind and patient. Would absolutely come back to Stamey's in the future! Thanks so much for an awesome intro to Carolina BBQ.

Yelp
Why in the world do people love this place so much? Their Brunswick stew is nasty. Just plain out nasty the last time. I got some, I got a bunch of crackers that were stale. Packaged stale crackers oh my God, seriously? Don't go sick of this.

Yelp
This was worst BBQ plate I've ever had. The meat was bland and did not have enough sauce. The collard greens were so bitter, and the hush puppies tasted like they were fried in old grease. I'm so disappointed in this NC BBQ joint.

Yelp
If you're anywhere near the Greensboro Coliseum, this is a must stop spot. I opted for the BBQ chicken and pork BBQ plate, which was beyond 'on point'. The meat was super moist, there were a number of different BBQ sauces, and the prices were from the 1980's. It's a large, yet unassuming spot in Greensboro. You aren't going to be going here for a romantic dinner, but if you're in the mood for some simply outstanding grub for a prehistoric price, this is the spot!

Yelp
The food here is disgusting. The BBQ is bland and tastes microwaved. Staff is nice and the place looks great. Such a shame. Maybe it's time has come and gone.

Yelp
We visited this recently remodeled location for an early lunch today, and came away very much impressed - with the decor, the food, and the service. The interior is very bright, clean, and airy, with a kind of rustic feel to the place. The main dining area is still to the right as you enter, and it seems bigger now that the off fashioned counter with stools is gone, replaced by a row of spacious booths. The take out and new drive-thru area is to the left as you come in, and there are now 5 or 6 tables in that area, as well. The BBQ Pork is as good as ever, especially the sliced pork. The hot dog seems much better because the chili is thicker, tastier, and the Hershey's Chocolate Milkshake is a monster, and goes for $2.75! Glad they're back open, glad to see they were busy, even early in the day.
