Standard Proof Review - Rainey Street - Austin - The Infatuation

"Things that feel in-place on : Lime scooters, / parties, DJs. Things that feel out-of-place on Rainey Street: Standard Proof. This is the second outpost of Nashville-based distillery and tasting room, Standard Proof, and it’s located at the far end of Rainey Street at the bottom of an apartment complex. Unlike most of the spots on Rainey Street, Standard Proof is minimalist and spacious inside, with a massive wall displaying all the various whiskey infusions they offer. And while Rainey Street probably isn’t the first place we’re heading for a calm, early evening whiskey flight, the cocktails at Standard Proof are excellent. Combine that with a pretty solid Nashville hot chicken sandwich from the food menu, and you’ve got a great start to a night out." - Nicolai McCrary

Nashville Whiskey Distillery Standard Proof Opens in Downtown Austin - Eater Austin

"Nashville whiskey distillery Standard Proof Whiskey Co. is opening a second tasting room on Rainey Street, bringing a Tennessee food menu with it. The tasting room will be at 51 Rainey Street, on the ground floor of the SkyHouse building, and is slated to open Wednesday, February 1. Standard Proof will serve tasting flights of its whiskeys: straight rye and rye infused with ginger, pineapple, coffee, mint, honeysuckle, or pecan. The whiskeys will also be served in cocktails like a Sazerac or a pecan picker cola. It will also serve wine by the glass and bottle and offer cocktail classes. Food-wise, the bar will offer hot chicken, pulled pork, and similar dishes." - Erin Russell

Where to Find Crispy, Cheesy Birria Tacos Around Nashville | Eater Nashville

"From Nicky’s Coal Fired to Redheaded Stranger, Mijo Gordito has been making the rounds all around town with rustic, homestyle cooking ripped straight from abuela’s kitchen. But for now, you can find the duo on Sunday nights at the Standard Proof tasting room, popping up with a signature “big ass oxtail birria pizza” with a side of consomme for proper dipping. Chef hand rolls each tortilla, crusted with plenty of crispy cheese then stuffed with mounds of juicy oxtail and slathered with zingy salsa aguacate, chipotle mayo, pico, and pickled red onions. Orders can be placed via Instagram DM. Keep an eye on their IG for more information on future pop-ups and menu offerings." - Delia Jo Ramsey

8 Tennessee Whiskeys Perfect for Last-Minute Holiday Gifting - Eater Nashville

"Truly born behind the bar in Nashville, Standard Proof Whiskey Co. offers an imaginative lineup of Creative Director Robert Longhurst’s craft-infused rye whiskey that was originally created as a well-kept secret, shared only among fellow bartenders and regular patrons. The Red Eye Rye that launched it all starts as a 95-percent rye-based Southern American whiskey, which is aged for 12 to 18 months in new American oak barrels. They then infuse it with ground coffee beans for around 10 to 12 weeks before bottling." - Delia Jo Ramsey

Our family of 5 (all adults) stopped in to this unassuming bar and had a wonderful experience tasting their awesome cocktails. The music was not loud and obnoxious which made it possible for us to talk and hear each other and the bartender, Billy, who took care of us very attentively. Thanks Billy! We enjoyed the straight & infused whiskeys. Our favorite drinks were the "honey bee", the "key lime pie", "the bandito" and the "espresso martini." But, hey, all their cocktails were very good. We highly recommend!

We ended up here 3/4 days in town that's how much we enjoyed this place. The vibe is super chill, the staff are very energetic, funny, and inviting. The whiskey is delicious. We really enjoyed the whiskey flight to try them all. They also have great drinks besides the flights and they have specials as well. It's just a really greag spot and will definitely be back. Also loved that its a little off the strip to escape the chaos.

I got to visit 2 times during my trip to Nashville and received amazing service (shout out to Nina!) the bartenders were very knowledgeable about their craft, offered customization to cocktails on the menu and the venue is beautiful, by far the best cocktails we had in Nashville so far! Highly recommend the espresso martini or the Suzie Q (if you like ginger, ask to add some ginger syrup or try it with their ginger rye!)

OMG! If you like or love bourbon, this is a must! Jeremy is amazing. He wants to you to have an experience. Old Fashion Pecan… smooth as Tennessee…. I don’t need to say more. The atmosphere is smooth like jazz club. Quality, quality, quality. This place is for people with an experienced palette!

Love this place! Nashville is the OG location! We come every time we are in town, actually we come EVERY SINGLE DAY we are in town from Texas! Billy and Jacob were the bartenders this go around and both gave excellent customer service!! Off the beaten path of broadway and well worth the visit! Billy introduced me to a new crazy amazing drink. Thx Billy for great drinks and a great conversation!

Me and my boyfriend visited here as a stop on a brewery/distillery tour and the servers were awesome. The guy pictured and the lady pictures helped us out. He was very knowledgeable and she was just a vibe. The lady was doing a cocktail class but we didnt have time but i wish we did. 10/10 would definitely recommend.

This review is overdue. I visited Nashville about 2 weeks ago with friends to celebrate my birthday. We booked the Whiskey Tasting at Standard Proof for a Friday night. It was truly an awesome experience and a highlight of our trip. There was 7 of us so it’s perfect for groups. Kat led the tasting and she was super fun and knowledgeable. I’m not a whiskey person but this tasting changed my mind for sure! The cocktails we made at the end of the class were delicious. If I’m ever back in Nashville, this tasting experience will be at the top of my to do list! Thank you Kat for making my birthday such a fun and memorable night.
