Best New Cocktail Bars in Austin, April 2025 | Eater Austin

"Opened in November in the old Austin Eastciders space, Stargazer is the newest addition to Springdale Station. The all-day space, owned by Moya and Colin McIntyre, who also own the neighboring wedding and event venue, has been updated with new landscaping and decor, as well as plenty of shaded seating. The outdoor area also features a vintage rocket ship playscape for kids. Expect to find a diverse drink menu, which includes specialty coffee drinks, like the Golden Moon with espresso, turmeric, and black pepper, and cocktails, plus wine and draft beer. Those skipping the alcohol can find mocktails and CBD and THC-infused drinks (like Calexo Citron with apple, lemon, sparkling water, and hemp). Two food trucks are on site: Dipping Springs Tender Co. and Santo Patio." - Darcie Duttweiler

Stargazer Coffee Stargazer is a standout coffee shop tucked inside what looks like a converted warehouse, with soaring ceilings and a spacious, open layout that feels both industrial and thoughtfully designed. From the moment you walk in, you get the sense this place is about more than just coffee – it’s a creative hub with energy and style. We visited on a Sunday and were met with live DJ music, filling the space with deep, resonant sound thanks to excellent acoustics. The vibe was electric but relaxed, with a great crowd and an inviting atmosphere. There’s also a large patio for those who prefer to enjoy their coffee outdoors. Events seem to be a regular feature here – there was a posted schedule of upcoming happenings, hinting at how much more this space offers beyond the daily café experience. The coffee was great, the space inspiring, and the overall ambiance made it feel like one of Austin’s rising gems. Whether you’re here for a drink, music, or just soaking in the scene, Stargazer deserves a spot on your list. It feels like one of those places that’s about to become a local legend.

Chill vibe & atmosphere, delicious coffee, pastries, and ice cream, kid-friendly, shaded seating, indoor & outdoor areas, knowledgeable and friendly staff, well-maintained, and 3 food trucks to choose from on most days. We went on a Monday around noon when two of the three trucks opened with my 2 little daughters and a friend with her 3 little kids. The kids were entertained for 3 hours with the single rocketship tower (made of metal so the slide was too hot), and the wooden building blocks. My family ordered food from Santo Patio- a shrimp taco, 2 egg, cheese, and bacon tacos, and the beef machaga and egg taco- and our friends ordered from Dripping Springs Tender Co (Atlas Sandwhich Co isn't open Mondays) and we were both happy with our meals. I also ordered a hot half-caf oatmilk latte and blueberry cobbler bar for myself, and grabbed chocolate milks and Lick mint chocolate chip ice cream for the girls, all delicious! I love the mugs they use for the coffee and ice cream- they're cute and feel more cozy to hold. I will say their choice of slatted metal tables on the lower patio area isn't my favorite- a little less food & drink friendly with the gaps and slight unevenness but not a big deal. The music they had playing was perfect for a happy, cozy, chill environment. We will be back, but we live about 30 minutes away, otherwise we'd definitely be back more often!

We absolutely loved this place. Great atmosphere, open plan indoor/outdoor seating surrounded by lots of live plants. They have great, affordable cocktails and coffee. There are food trucks outside and you are allowed to bring food from them inside while having a beverage. We came to see Angelo Moore and the Brand New Step. This was a pop up performance for SXSW with members from Fishbone, Thievery Corporation and the Cardboard People. By far the best live show I have seen in a while.

Google
Their signature coffee is my absolute favorite. I have a pleasant interaction with every barista I order with. I’m not a fan of the DJ/house music that plays at times, but the patio is big enough to go someplace quieter on the weekends. It’s dog friendly too!

Google
Stargazer has great espresso but don’t sleep on their matcha either. I enjoy spending time on their patio and listening to live music. Great place to bring friends and family to enjoy a cup of coffee.

June 2025 I went here for an art event that was absolutely excellent. That said, I'm not sure how much this was the event or the venue. The venue was very fun and eclectic, had a really nice Vibe. Nice outdoor patio, doubled downward, and a neat indoor space with a few different little rooms. The restroom situation was a little weird as they wanted you to go outside down a hallway to another place, but that could be because it was an event. The bartenders were great and they were definitely people that worked there and not part of the event. I feel like drink prices were relatively high, but not insanely.

Great service, super friendly and accommodating. Had an awesome dj playing world beats vibes. Very enjoyable. Beautiful atmosphere. Different options in food trucks outside. Fun play area for kids.

Been a few times. They always have fun events happening and the coffee is super delicious. Nice food options from the surrounds restaurants and food trucks. One evening their espresso machine was being weird, but said we could order an espresso martini ashen we asked. They didn’t know we needed 3 and got really pissy about having to do 3. He was probably stressed but swan theory is real. I’d still recommend coming out here for a great time!

Yelp
I really have no idea why you'd give this place anything other than 5 stars! Sure the (signature) drinks are a $8 bucks instead of the $7 at Starbucks but they're unique and more importantly you're getting access to an amazingly decorated place to sit, chill, work for a few hours, get dinner/dessert, watch Rick and Morty, play free ping pong/pool, enjoy some free music and/or enjoy a free show, oh sorry I'm rambling. As far as service, some thoughts... sometimes you have a bad experience with someone, sometimes the interaction is weird, sometimes things are slow... but you know what, that's a human you are interacting with who's navigating the same situation and in this case you can actually affect some of how that happens or tends to be. I'm talking about doing something low key or something that might help encourage a better interaction indirectly. Anyway, rambling again... This place is a hidden gem, period.

Yelp
Saw signs for this place so felt inspired to check it out for a Friday happy hour and what a delight that was. It was busy in the front area with people wrapping up their work day. Super casual, especially since it's a coffee shop in the morning. The back area is a secret gem. It looks so fun! I want to bring some friends back here. The bartender was telling us about all the fun events they have throughout the week like open mic nights and comedy. Definitely need to check them out. The frozen margarita had a $5 deal. I'm not sure if it was just for Fridays or an everyday happy hour thing. The frozen Aperol Spritz was really something special. They didn't have any food besides pasties but Handsome Dan's next door had some snacks so we enjoyed that with our drinks from Stargazer outside on the shared patio. Great time and WILL be returning!

Yelp
Part coffee shop, part. cocktail bar, party cutesy venue - I envision small open mic nights or comedy shows in this space. And guess what, when I checked their website I saw that they do all of that and more. Book swaps, trivia night, concerts... I met up with a colleague for a caffeinated meeting - though we were both so tempted to try the frozen aperol spritz! I'll def return for that. The wifi worked, the tunes were good, loved all the plant vibes. Only thing that wasn't so great was being swarmed by flies. Dunno why, but they were obsessed with my matcha.

Yelp
Hello Stargazer!! Wow, this place was like a maze to find and tucked behind Eastside paddleball-hidden toward the back of the buildings. You turn right, walk all the way down until you see an open patio area and then turn left (please add appropriate signage!) There is parking behind the building, however there's limited parking in front on the weekend as it's extremely busy. Now I love a good coffee-wine bar but this one was meh. The only reason I came to Stargazer was for the collab event with Masshole! I've been wanting to try this food truck for the phenomenal Lobster!! As I was walking to the Masshole food truck I was confused by the Stargazer sign that said no outside food.. very off for a coffee shop that serves no food and collabs with the local food trucks right outside. This should be fixed. Service was pretty slow and extremely nonchalant. No friendly hello or warm service. I ordered a strawberry matcha and it was mostly milk, no strawberry and no matcha taste. They don't offer or suggest non dairy milk option which is shocking for a coffee shop in Austin. I was pretty disappointed in the service here and most of all my $9.33 matcha. I will say the inside is decorated nicely, it's chill and pretty with lots of plants and high ceilings. That was my experience but try it out for yourself.

Yelp
This place sits on busy Springdale Rd tucked behind some other businesses. It's actually almost not even visible from the road. It should be mentioned that parking can be a real problem during peak hours. As the other reviewers have already mentioned, it is a good place to bring your friends, the kids, your laptop and your dog. Connected to this business is Hansome Dan's bait shop, a climbing place and other businesses. The place is divided into two parts by a line of oak barrels. At the entrance is the bar and several tables to sit at while music plays loudly overhead. Behind the barrels is a room that can be rented out for private events or overflow. The back room still shows traces of the former East Ciders tank farm footprints. There's also plenty of seating outside under umbrellas and shade trees. There's also a small live music stage, but there's only one unisex bathroom inside. You'll find a couple of cozy couch nook areas and a foosball table. Perhaps due to the high ceilings the AC struggles to keep it cool. Along with coffee and some decent alcoholic drinks, including frozen drinks, they have baked goods and ice cream. One thing I noticed is that as the evening starts to cool off with the setting sun, it becomes a relaxed and romantic place setting. 10 informative photos to get you more familiar with the business.

Yelp
I am here in Austin and always looking for new spots for drinks and coffee. Stargazer has an excellent selection of cocktails and coffees. I loved my Cosmic Cruiser cocktail made with Toto's vodka, raspberry and blood orange syrup. With a great indoor outdoor ambience Stargazer is wonderful for a lazy day with your kids and pets. I can imagine it's also great to work or study during the week, or play boardgames with friends over the weekend.

Yelp
Stargazer is the newest occupant of the former Eastsiders space. It's a super cute, bohemian coffee and cocktail spot thats perfect to hang out and yap. The owners have created cozy corners that are perfect to have deep conversations and even a spot in the back where events can be held. For me, I felt their specialty drinks--whether coffee or cocktails--were a bit too eccentric. The space theme is fun, but the offerings need work-- offer more simple drink options and offer more food items.

Yelp
Austin Eastciders has new life (as of 2024)! I love that the old signage is still up too. The concept here is really great. I particularly like the play area and the rocket ship playscape. This coffee shop/cocktail bar/beer endeavor is really fantastic. It's a huge warehouse space that's totally got a brewery vibe happening. I dig the various seating throughout whether it's tables, living area seating, or the bar. Huge outdoor patio as well. Good drinks. They have a really decent mocktail menu too and I really appreciate that. Nice selection of draft beers as well as ciders. Great environment. Welcoming and comfortable.

Yelp
Cute little spot to hang out with your kiddos or your pup. They have coffee and cocktails, and there are some food trucks outside. I'm super hyped for Atlas to open up our front

Yelp
Loved the vibe here! Gorgeous atmosphere to chill or meet some friends for a few drinks on a beautiful day. The drinks are a bit overpriced, but I guess you are paying for the ambiance as well. Definitely check it out!

Yelp
Overall super chill spot near East Side Paddle Club. Gave me toga studio vibes with their mellow music and overall decor, while still paying homage to Austin Eastciders. Definitely would come back to this place and hang or work. Prices are a little on the higher side imo.

Yelp
Cute spot! There is a nice selection of seating, good for dates, meetings or coworking. You can order food from the food trucks or coffee/alcohol from the counter. I haven't loved their specialty coffees, they have been a bit too sweet or had a weird aftertaste, but that just might be me. They also have Lick ice cream and Lazarus beer on tap, which is awesome! I haven't seen that anywhere else. I like that there is a big back space, seems good for large groups or events. My only dislike is that the music is always too loud. It's too loud for taking calls, getting work done, or really even chatting. Not sure what's up with that. Otherwise, love it!

Yelp
THOMAS WAS AMAZING!!!! We had the best time ever. We had some time to waste before the theater show and we chose to go to Stargazer. Best decision we could have made! Thomas took care of us and entertained us for an hour.

Dalia G.

Yelp
let me start off by saying that everyone is entitled to a bad day, however, it seems like no matter what the staff here is so dry
google avatar

Tracy K.

Yelp
Food: to-go sandwiches and OK food trucks. Service is always pretty good. Taps and drink selection makes me miss the old Eastciders. So expensive! The place is decorated nicely and the seating is comfortable. I love the patio. Here's the rub: We used to come for the music. One guitar player singing original songs. The new line-up feels...senior...as in citizens. A quartet singing slow songs and rapping up by 8-10pm? I thought I was in Austin!?!

Yelp
This is one of my new favorite coffee shops! I ordered a pistachio cappuccino and it was so good. Really cute vibes inside and outside, had a good kolache. Food trucks outside. Tons of parking. Good WiFi. My only complaint is that the music inside is a bit louder than I'd like (using the space to work in the morning/afternoon), but it's not unbearable.

Yelp
Great place to have morning hours. We had Jazz music in the morning. Cocktails and coffee were amazing, they were just 11 days in after opening. There were two trucks(Dipping Springs Tender Co and Santo Patio taco truck) serving really good foods. Stargazers had some breakfast options like bagels, sandwiches etc, and pizza.

Yelp
We just stumbled upon this spot as a way to get our toddlers energy out but it ended up being so much more than that. Their wines were incredible and then we got an old fashioned that blew our minds! It was like Christmas in a glass! Truly an amazing cocktail bar in Austin with a lot of shaded outside space
google avatar

Yelp
Nice space, friendly staff... wonderful Jazz trio with harp, drums, and woodwinds... Enjoyed Lunar Landing... Mezcal + Lime + Pineapple... want to try the Mezcal sampler... Outside space looks good for warmer days

Yelp
Went recently for the first (and last) time. Encountered three different staff here for various questions/ordering; unfortunately every one of them have a piss-poor attitude. Not sure why.

Yelp
love this spot! i've been multiple times already, had a cool indoor jungle feel with so much light! great outdoor seating and the food trucks outside are so fire. coffee is SO good- the tea is hit/miss depending on who's making the london fog but i really love hanging out here and spending time.

Bo C.

Yelp
The best coffee place with the sweetest people, vibe is immaculate, and has the BEST taco truck outside!
