"State Fare serves up Gulf Coast and Southern favorites with inspired touches that are a fun and welcome update on the classics. Start with the fried green tomatoes topped with lump crab, remoulade and crisp rings of bright red jalapeno, and the shrimp Louie salad, a staple at Gulf Coast seafood houses. Feast on a classic seafood platter or the “H-town” fried chicken, served with collard greens and potato salad. Lighter fare includes the EADO poke bowl and pan-seared Palacios redfish with sauteed spinach. The spiffy, well-lit bar is a prime spot for meeting up with friends for cocktails and appetizers, while the fire pit on the restaurant’s waterfront patio is a nice spot to cozy up during cold fronts. Weekend brunch features avocado and street corn toast, oversized griddlecakes, French toast, and substantial breakfast burgers, along with frozen cocktails and flights of mimosas and bloody marys." - Laura L. "State Fare Kitchen & Bar, known for its Southern comfort foods, opened its third location in the Woodlands on Monday, April 18, with picturesque views of Lake Woodlands. Located at Hughes Landing, the new 6,050 square foot space will offer a lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch menu full of Southern cuisine similar to its Memorial City and Sugar Land locations, which opened in 2016 and 2020, respectively. Highlights include fried green tomatoes, its signature dill pickle dip with barbecue chips, birria grilled cheese, funnel cakes, avocado street corn toast, H-Town hot fried chicken, its secret menu “brunch board,” and the XXL Buttermilk Griddlecake. Cocktails will include colorful flights of frozen drinks and bloody marys, a smoked Old Fashioned, and an assortment of mocktails. The restaurant, which features nearly 200 people in its main dining area, overlooks Lake Woodlands, with a large covered patio with a fire pit and fans to keep diners cool. A private dining room, also with views of the lake, can accommodate up to 30 guests. Gensler Houston, the same architect who designed State Fare’s Sugar Land location, also designed the Woodlands location, incorporating a sleek white decor with blue accents and natural woods and the signature marquee “Good Vibes Only” sign, which overlooks the bar area. The restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. Sunday." - Brittany Britto Garley

Oh my goodness, let me tell you about the Easter Brunch board at State Fair! It was absolutely fantastic. From the moment it arrived, it was a feast for the eyes – beautifully arranged with such a delightful variety of treats. Honestly, every single item on that board was a winner. It was such a fun and delicious way to celebrate Easter. I would highly, highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special brunch experience. State Fair really knocked it out of the park with this one. Fingers crosse, they decide to make this Easter Brunch board a regular menu item. It would be such a treat to enjoy something this wonderful again!

Was excited to try a new place. We went specifically for the vegan brunch options. I was really excited to try the tofu scramble. Unfortunately, we were told they didn't have them, and we could have vegan spaghetti. That really is not a brunch food. You can do better. Then, the waiter took my clean fork and knife off a saucer, and placed them on the table. Ewww. The cocktails were good, but that's it. It was way too expensive for what it was.

Went here for a birthday brunch, staff was great, it did take them a while to bring out the food but it was good, big portion size. With the drinks there’s no free refill. My drink in the photo costed $6 I believe and I spent $24 on the food. Spent a total of almost $40 for just myself because they also automatically add a gratuity to your bill. The only thing with the food is that the catfish is smaller than I expected and the fried crawfish? It was so dry. Wish they would’ve just cooked it in the food. The playlist was great they played a lot of bangers so that was pleasant. Over all 8/10 I would go back.

Came in this evening to celebrate my birthday. I found this place by searching tiktok for some fancy food, and the magarita flight is what ultimately brought me to choose this place. I just skimmed the menu before coming in. Initially coming in I was amazed by the layout and design of the establishment. We first was seated inside, but I asked if we could sit outside and was told yes. So, outside, we went and was served by Miss Payton. 02/26/2025. Golly, we got the empanadas and crabcakes. Those were so good, so flavorful, just YUM! There were three of us, I got the ribeye with roasted potatos, asparagus, and bacon green beans. My husband got the seafood platter, and our friend got the chimichurri flank steak with Brussel Sprouts. Only bummer was no steak sauce, but very flavorful regardless. If I were to choose out of those three veggies to get, it'd be hands down the Brussel Sprouts. Just bursting flavors! Back to the margarita flight. There are four flavors, each one unique from the other. A regular margarita, a lavender flavor, a peach flavor, and I think a lemon flavor. The peach and lavender flavors were the best! My husband and friend got an expresso type drink and an old fashion. I have no idea about the old fashion taste but the expresso one was good! All in all, our waitress (Payton) was phenomenal (she is a huge fan of kitties as I am, which was a great conversation starter), the food was boastful with flavors, and the drinks are top-notch as was the atmosphere outside by the water! Chefs, kiss! Highly recommend and will be back again! Thank you!

Service was good with food coming out hot and fresh. The brunch board was a great variety for several people to eat from and try several things. The birria grilled cheese was also a nice sandwich to cut up and share. It would be nice to have some live music or DJ during brunch or better music being played as alternative. I would also not recommend ordering shots as they charged us $12/each for Green Tea Shots.

Let me start with my favorites: 1. I LOVE their margaritas 2. They make their Shirley temple with whip cream and it’s AMAZING. Whip cream on a Shirley temple is my new favorite junk food drink. They also have these little to-go necklaces things for your margaritas which I was obsessed with. It turns your margarita into a giant capri sun that you wear around your neck. Food wise I love their tortilla soup and I also really love their wedge salad. I try to stay as healthy as I can and this place definitely has some options if you are trying to be careful about what you eat. If you aren’t trying to be careful, the list is far longer and the options are super delicious. You can’t go wrong. The staff is also super friendly!! I have never had a bad experience here

State Fare's name conjures visions of a deluxe Cracker Barrel, but the reality is an elegant, relaxed, yet still upscale restaurant with refreshing takes on classic foods that weren't greasy at all. There are two other locations in the Houston area. I went in for Houston Restaurant Week and tried the Sweet Green Salad and Cheeseburger. The salad was surprisingly fresh and light, and I loved the mixture of nuts and apples; I wish it had come on a larger plate. The cheeseburger wasn't greasy; the bun was light, and all the flavors worked well. The fries were seasoned and matched the burger perfectly. The restaurant itself feels high-end, but with its mixtures of plush seating, sofa, and natural woods, it still feels inviting and cozy. There is a bar, but it by no means dominates the restaurant. Oddly, the menus are crinkled paper, which doesn't match the food's quality or the restaurant's atmosphere. The restaurant was slow at 1 PM on a weekday, with only a few people in the relatively cavernous main dining hall, so I opted to sit at the bar. Value-wise, it's a costly lunch, especially if you have a cocktail, which was also excellent. Overall, it was just a surprising experience and an enjoyable lunch; I'll be back to try dinner or brunch with family.

The birria sandwich was mouth watering good ! The Oreo French toast looks really good but a bit dry , try with syrup! Service was great , atmosphere was nice and quiet.
