Steak 48 is amazing! Consistent excellence is the best way to describe this restaurant. You will always have amazing service and food every single time. I've tried almost the whole menu and they just don't miss. I've been to Ocean 48 and also Dominick's numerous times and this is by far my favorite location. I visit this location often and i'm always welcomed with a welcome back Tyler and a smile!

I did not have high expectations for this place but i can honestly say, everything about our dinner was phenomenal. The esthetics were modern and sleek. The food was phenomenal and I cannot say enough about their service. Shoutout to Veronica who took care of us. All of our steaks tatsed and great and cooked to our liking. The drinks added another element to the dinner. And to top it off, the two desserts who got ended the night perfectly. Highly recommend.

We had an amazing dinner here for our honeymoon! We are seasoned travelers and this is in the Top 3 best steakhouses we’ve been to in the United States. The Japanese Waygu filet was a 10/10, it cut like butter. I had the bone in filet which I’d give 9.5/10, phenomenal! The corn crème brûlée was amazing, and so was the au gratin potatoes. Everything from the bread, drinks, and dessert was amazing as well. The service was absolutely unmatched. They called me the day before our reservation to confirm we were coming for our honeymoon. They gave us a private table that felt like our own room and covered our table in rose petals. Our server Trevor knew the menu like the back of his hand, he said the servers have intense training for 1.5 months, weekly quizzes, and certifications they have to maintain. I believe it with the level of service delivered! The manager came and checked on us multiple times to see how we enjoyed our meals. They gave us free champagne and a free dessert for our honeymoon. We concluded dinner with a warm towel and multiple good bye’s and congratulations from the amazing staff. I’ve never experienced this level of service before and I’ve ate at hundreds of fine dining restaurants. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and can’t wait to come back! Side note: We are traveling to Vegas next week and cancelled our nice steak dinner reservation because we figured that it won’t be as good as this restaurant was and we’ll probably just compare it the entire time to Steak 48 lol.

Google
Amazing dinner. We were lucky enough to get a kitchen booth by requesting in advance. Service and food were great. While the steak wasn't the best I've ever had it definitely made the top 5 list. The only complaint would be the brussel sprouts were extremely salty. Some of them were almost uneatable.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Incredible Experience at Steak 48 - Del Mar! I had an amazing experience at Steak 48 - Del Mar, and it was all thanks to James at the bar! From the moment I sat down, he made me feel like an old friend, providing top-notch service and incredible hospitality. He recommended the best steak, and let me tell you—it was absolutely perfect! James went above and beyond, even giving me a short tour of the restaurant, which really added to the experience. I’ve been to many high-end steakhouses, but the level of service and genuine care he provided was over the top. Because of James, Steak 48 - Del Mar is now my all-time favorite steakhouse. If you're looking for impeccable service, outstanding food, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, this is the place to go! Can’t wait to come back! 🔥🥩🍷

Exceptional, unparalleled, on another level, top-notch, unmatched...I can go on but I'll just say, this was a dining experience like no other. We were recommended Steak 48 for a special occasion and came for our 1 year wedding anniversary. I called ahead to ask if they do anything for special occasions and sure enough they had a table with rose petals waiting. The whole night was perfect. Our server, Taylor, was personable and spent extra time with us talking life, going over the menu, giving the best recommendations, and even threw in a couple extras to make the evening more special. The manager, Justin, also came by to hang out, chat, and check in a few times. It didn't feel like the normal manager situation walking around. He was genuine and cares for the patrons. He even caught us on our way out while waiting for our car at the valet to thank us for coming in. The busser, Juan, was even a delight. He needs to be promoted to server ASAP! Food: We had the yellowtail hamachi, 22oz ribeye cooked medium rare plus with the black truffle green peppercorn enhancement on the side, crab cakes, the crispy hasselback potato, and the sauteed wild mushrooms. The food was impeccable. It was cooked to perfection with attention to presentation. Elegant, simple, not over the top. Drinks: Basil cucumber limeade, the walnut old fashion, and the Browne family cab with dinner. The specialty cocktails are heavy on the pour and the flavor profiles are spot on. The old fashioned even has "Steak 48" engraved in the cube. Dessert: Key lime pie - pretty good but Houston's steakhouse takes the lead on this. The peanut butter pie was also pretty good especially if you're a PB fan. *raises hand* To top it off, the restaurant called us the next day to ask how our evening was. That attention to detail to call the patrons and ask how their dining experience is second to none. Top tier customer service and care. Long story longer, we had a wonderful night. Everyone was the perfect mix of friendly and welcoming yet professional. Steak 48 goes above and beyond with the ambiance, the service, the food, drinks, and the details. Thank you, Steak 48, for an unmatched experience. Will be a hard one to top.

I came out for a date night and left amazed. The Service was Equisite , Each entree was served by an actual staff member, and the food was piping hot 🔥. The cocktails were awesome 👌 just an overall grand experience. Thank you to the staff and management. I will be back. P.S. Bring your wallet greatness is not served cheap. Thanks again. E.K.C

We celebrated my boyfriends dinner here and they truly made it a very unique and special day! Our server, Benjamin, was amazing! From offering great wine recommendations to food recommendations, we enjoyed our night with spectacular food and service. He was very attentive and helpful when it came to picking the right options of food for us. This restaurant goes above and beyond to showcase their hospitality to guests. From the time you check in to the time you walk out, you experience great service and attention. From the small things such as resetting our table to cleaning after every dish and checking in on us, to serving delicious food, this restaurant is one I’d recommend to friends and family over and over again! Truly a special occasion setting.

Yelp
Some of THE BEST steak I've ever had!! Rib eye was JUICY TENDER and VERY flavorful! Cooked perfectly and it melted in my mouth. Every bite was an experience. The hasselback potatoes were PERFECTLY crisp on the outside! Seasoned very well, herb garlic taste! The waiters were fast and the ambience was low lighting but not too low where I have to squint to see across from me.

Yelp
I came here at 430p Saturday for early dinner and everything was very smooth! There are plenty of self parking lot and we were seated right away. I had my newborn and toddler with me and the restaurant called me beforehand make sure I had enough space for stroller and was very accommodating to my request. Very nice personal touch The restaurant is super nice and big. My son really liked the decoration lol I didn't get to take much of the pictures but for appetizers we ordered Yellow tail hamachi, pricey and small but it was tasty Crispy shrimp, this was disappointing... it was way too salty for my taste but the manager came out and apologized for the taste. Umph he didn't have to do that haha but thanks anyway Oh can't forget about their amazing complimentary house bread. It was so warm and delicious! I love how outside has little crispness and inside is moist and warm. I usually don't eat house bread but I ate most of it I ordered roasted beet salad and it was pretty tasty For entrees, we ordered two rib eyes and scallop. Rib eye was pretty good but, my son ate most of whole steak by himself so I guess he approved and good Scallop was pretty good too For sides we ordered mashed potatoes, mushroom and crispy Brussels sprouts.... I wasn't super impressed with it. I feel like mashed potatoes were not really from mashed potatoes but from packaging... Also mushroom was just ok The food were just ok but not too bad but service was very very goooooddd.

Yelp
Ambiance- fake plants, Taylor Swift on sound track. Tv with sports in the background. This place charges outrageous prices and has the class of a sports bar. One dairy free item on the appetizers, salad, and sides. No potatoes without cheese. This place is the ultimate in the SAD diet. Nothing organic. Nothing locally sourced. Corn- feed beef. In a word. DON'T. Nothing inventive here.

Yelp
Very nice dinner experience in a lovely restaurant. We celebrated our anniversary a little early as we will be out of town. We went to the bar for a drink awaiting our table. Very nice. Great manhatten. Our table was ready in a few minutes and we were seated. Our lovely waitress brought us bread and water and took our wine order. Had a nice glass of red. We started with calamari and shrimp, very good. The mrs had the crab cakes. I had the small filet and baked potato. One small flaw. My steak came out stone cold in the middle. I ordered it medium rare. I had to return it. They retired it and returned it. It was cooked nicely. We finished up with chocolate mouse dessert with an added touch.

Yelp
I usually don't post reviews after just one visit, which I probably should but there are so many reasons why I don't. So this review will have our first visit and because I exceeded the review length, I will post a second follow up review. Our first visit, is a 2-star review. I had made reservations to celebrate an early Valentine's Day dinner with friends. I had seen this cute booth in photos and called and asked to see if it was available, and it was! I was super happy and excited and let my friends know. They were excited too! It was a Saturday night, when we arrived it was busy, we waited some time and then we finally were taken to our table, when we got to the table it was this tiny little round 4 seater, and we just looked at each other like what the heck is this?!? I had requested the booth and it was confirmed , so I was fairly upset when they told me it was no longer available. How is that?!? So I waited for a manager... and our group waited some more! So not fun just standing around in heels! After who knows how long, we finally got seated at our booth! For drinks: the hubs got the French and I got my usual lemon drop. He seemed to like his drink. Mine was underwhelming, not horrible, it was just muted, not super tart. I like that the shaker was left and it was more than just a single martini. For appetizers: - House rolls: This was brushed with butter but I wish this was swimming in it and topped with rock salt. - Meatballs: these were tasty although my gf didn't like them - Pacific yellowtail hamachi: I didn't care for this at all. The tomato taste completely threw this off. Pass on this. - Crispy Shrimp Deviled eggs: these were good. I get they think their crispy shrimp is amazing, it wasn't bad... but I would've preferred it without. I think a dollop of caviar would've worked better. - Chicken Fried Lobster tails: of the appetizers, this was my favorite. The lobster was perfect with the chicken fried batter. It was probably the best cook on lobster I've ever had! The main entree: We got the Bone-in Ribeye. My friend got the 45 day dry aged ribeye. Both were tasty, but I love that mine was covered in a blue cheese crust with a side of truffle butter! Desserts: - Beignet Tree: My gf really wanted to try these. The tree came with 5 beignets on a decorative silver spooky tree. These were not my favorite. It was dense and chewy. I didn't care for the dips either which were chocolate and vanilla. - Triple layer Key Lime pie: This was absolutely delish! Tons of key lime flavor and topped with finger limes which I've never had. - Complimentary mini Chocolate Chip cookies: these were tasty. The perfect little sweet treat to end the night. Our server was JP and his assistant was Jacob. They did a good job but my impression was soured from the start. We were celebrating a valentines dinner, I wish our dinner didn't start out horribly by not having a booth ready for us which left us waiting and them trying to pass off a teeny tiny table for our group. Stay tuned for our second visit and a follow up review. 2024: 17

Yelp
Wow what an experience. We celebrated a birthday here and the entire staff made it very memorable. The lobster Mac n cheese knocked it out of the ball park. It was incredible. 10/10. Highly recommend the deviled eggs if you're a fan, if not, you must order the crispy shrimp. It should be criminal to taste that good. The scallops were super good, prepared well with a yummy sauce. The Oscar topping is a no brainer addition to any steak. And the oysters were unbelievable, I loved trying all the different sauces and vinaigrettes. I didn't get to take a photo of the cream corn brûlée because they started serving it, but it was also a must order. So gooooood. Both salads were good, but the wedge took the spotlight. They brought out a dessert of choice with a candle for my boyfriend's birthday and truly made the night special. Very good gelato cake. The music was all popular throwbacks, which kinda surprised me but it was enjoyable. The seafood bar area is very impressive! The bathrooms have heated toilets, so yeah you can't go wrong. Thank you to Phil for taking such good care of us. You were funny, attentive, and a great server.

Yelp
We finally came here after hearing so much about this upscale steak and seafood restaurant. It was the BEST STEAKHOUSE we've had in years. They go a step above in your culinary experience such as offering dark or white linen napkins, offering hot lavender towels between courses, offering course or fine black pepper, and using refrigerated silverware with your salad. The restaurant decor is refined, warm and comfortable suitable for fine dining. The service was top notch. Our waiter Devan was an expert at the menu and made great recommendations. He was attentive but not intrusive which is perfect. The filet mignon and sides were cooked perfectly. Everything was outstanding. Seafood here was exceptional and very fresh. The wine list selection is enormous and one of the best I've seen. This is a must try restaurant for your special birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and etc!

Yelp
Went to Steak 48 for our anniversary and so glad we did!! Ambience Service Food Server Our server, Arman, made our special night even more special. He took care of us like a king and queen the entire evening. Absolutely the BEST!

Yelp
Such a wonderful experience at steak48. We celebrated our 4 year anniversary here and were absolutely touched by all the effort the staff had put into making our special day memorable. I have nothing but good things to say about the food. Just be mindful that if you order the steaks, the 500 degree plates are no joke and are very very hot. The interior is very nicely decorated, can be a tad dark in there so apologies if some of the photos are a bit hard to make out. Overall I'd definitely come back, especially for a special event.

Yelp
Steak 48 is amazing and everything is delicious that I've ordered there. I've been there multiple times and they never disappoint. This time both Andrew and Ian were helping us out and they were amazing!! They remember so much about the menu and really were terrific. I always like to try something new when I come to Steak 48 and it's always amazing. You cannot go wrong with anything here. The only thing I didn't get a picture of was the bone in rib-eye, which also was delicious. I highly recommend coming here if you thought about trying it. The inside is so well decorated as well. They do have a dress code so be sure to check out their website for it. Overall very nice experience and we will be back!!

Yelp
Everything about this place (minus the bathrooms) was a vibe. The service was on point, no waiting at all. Somehow we were able to snag a last minute reservation at the end of the night and it was super busy too!! The caviars were 10/10 as well as the filets that come out on a hot butter plate. Everything was amazing and I would definitely recommend Probably the best steaks in San Diego

Yelp
This upscale steakhouse is nestled at the end of the Del Mar highlands plaza and offered a variety of steaks, sides, salads, and an extensive beverage menu. We came here to celebrate Father's Day and had a reservation. We were seated instantly and it was a packed restaurant. The servers were kind, but service was a bit slow. Nonetheless, the food came out yummy, but a bit on the saltier side. They season your plates with herbs which I thought was a nice touch. I really enjoyed their house bread which was dense and buttery.

Yelp
Absolute Dining Perfection!!! That says it all! I have been to the Steak 48 Houston location twice and was thrilled when I heard that a Del Mar location was opening. Steak 48 is in the portfolio of the Mastro's restaurants. From the minute I walked in, it was an absolutely perfect experience. The ambience is modern but yet still has that classic steakhouse feel. The hospitality and welcoming attitude of every single person in the restaurant was incredible. Every single person seemed genuinely happy to be a part of Steak 48. Miranda and Oscar went above and beyond to anticipate everything we could ever want. Ben wasn't even with our party but he also made it a great experience! The real star of the show is the food. I had the filet and it was cooked to a perfect medium. I had the mashed potatoes and broccoli as sides, which are served family style, and were outstanding. The wine list is extensive and offers a wide range of price points and flavors. DO NOT leave here without getting the butter cake dessert. You will definitely regret it if you don't order it, but share it because it is extra delicious and extra rich. There are four private rooms with the smallest accommodating 16 and the largest accommodating up to 80. There is a quieter large bar in the back of the restaurant, which can also be reserved for dinner. This is a gem in Del Mar and I hope it's here for many many years to come!

Yelp
Let me start by saying that cowboy star is usually my go to place for a steak dinner for any special occasion. But I decided to switch it off this year for my birthday and boy am I glad that I did. Brian O'Malley and his assistant John went above and beyond to make my special day great and make me feel like I was the most important girl in the room. I decided to go out to dinner by myself because I wanted to have a peaceful day by myself with nobody bothering me and they really cater to me to make me feel special and make me feel like it wasn't totally weird that I was out to dinner by myself. From the minute, I sat down they made me feel super special, chatting with me, asking me how my day was, asking me if I needed anything.constantly (but not to the point of annoyance) .. we had great conversation about some important things going on in my life (they will know what I am talking about) .. and they really created a very memorable experience for me. While I was there, I texted several of my friends that I was having the best time and an honestly was the great nightcap to a really great birthday. The food was great, but honestly, the experience was even better and I will absolutely be back. I ordered the petite filet mignon, the lobster tail, the whipped mashed potatoes, the sautéed broccoli, the Caesar salad to start, which was unbelievable with homemade croutons the best croutons I've ever had in my life, and it was finished off with a complementary Keylime pie, which was the best Keylime pie I've ever had. Ask to sit in Brian O'Malley and has assistant John's section you will not be disappointed. What a great night thank you so much steak 48 and thanks guys. You made this girl very happy on her birthday!

Yelp
Looking for a steak place to celebrate life? This is the place! Of course, for some, this is a special occasion type place. For us, our 20th anniversary. After my husband are the reservations, the night before, he got a call asking about our special anniversary. When we got there, we were given a card with the congrats on 20 years. Nice touch Steak 48! I got the petite filet mignon, Oscar. To start with, just about anywhere you go, the petite cut is usually around 6oz. This one was a perfectly cooked 8oz cut. Now, when I say perfectly cooked, our server made it clear that they error on the side of under. So anywhere else I go, I ask for mid-rare. Based of of reviews and off of what the server said, I went for mid. It was perfect! The Oscar style was just another level. 9x out of 10, Oscar isn't even offered anymore! Thankfully, it is offered at Steak 48. The crab meat is the most delicate crab cake measles perfectly on top. I basically looked at it wrong and it fell apart! It was pretty much nothing but lumps of crab with not much holding it together. Best Oscar style steak to date. Just sayin! The margarita was delicious! When asked if I had a tequila preference, I simply said, " Cadillac" and they figured it out from there. I did say no salt, oops! But they made up for the mistake nicely. The location is perfect! All the other great steak house options seem to be in unique settings we just are not willing to go to... such as GasLamp district. So this puts Steak 48 at the top of the list due to quality and location.

Yelp
Brian our server was amazing!! From start to finish, he hit all points of steps of service - from a warm greeting, guiding us through the menu, recommending dishes, etc. He did not miss a thing. The service all around was impeccable. When the food arrives, the team will serve the side dishes table side on a very hot plate... ladies first the men after. :-) Ambiance was chic, modern.. they have a few options for private dining and 2 bars! 1 bar is self seating and the other is based on reservation and/or wait list. As for food, we had the following: House Bread 5/5 AMAZING, MUST ORDER!! Crispy Shrimp 3/5 Tasty, I had a couple of pieces, but could not have any more. A bit saucy for my liking.. it took away from the crunchiness Wagyu Beef Tartare 5/5 Yum, you could taste the freshness.. served with Pita Bread (interesting) Main Lobster Escargot 4/5 Not escargot... like snails. Tasty. I have not experienced something like this before. Basically lobster pieces in an escargot shelling vessel Filet Mignon 5/5 Bone in Ribeye 5/5 *all meats were cooked to temperature. Steak 48 offers enhancements.. we chose black truffle peppercorn and asked for horseradish on the side. DELISH! Chef Daniel's Au Gratin Potatoes 5/5 MY FAV! Soo yum!!! The right amount of cheese, baked to perfection (Gouda and Mozzarella) Crispy Hasselback Potato 2/5 Just okay. Nothing horrible about them, but nothing amazing about them Roasted Brussels Sprouts 5/5 Can't go wrong with Brussels! Bacon and sea salt, amazing Sautéed Sweet Corn 4/5 Did not expect it to be super sweet like a dessert, however, it complimented savory items (steak and potatoes) when eaten together Red Velvet Bread Pudding 5/5 AMAZING. Not too sweet, very tasty and hit all the details of a bread pudding. Served with a side of white chocolate ganache. Warm Vanilla Cake 4/5 served with gelato and whipped cream - Tasty, but more on the sweet side with the caramel in it. This is made for all the caramel lovers! Beignets 3/5 - presentation is on a tree stand, cute! They didn't seem as fresh or did not have that soft dough like a typical beignet or doughnut. Just okay. Also, bathrooms are cute and clean. Seats are warm! Will be back to try other items. Wonderful to have a steak house with amazing service in Del Mar.

Yelp
Stepping into Steak 48 is like entering a realm of culinary sophistication, where every detail is meticulously crafted to perfection. The star of the show? The steak, of course. Each cut is masterfully cooked to your preference, resulting in a beautifully tender and flavorful experience that's sure to leave you speechless. But it's not just about the food - the service at Steak 48 is truly fit for royalty. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warmth and professionalism, ensuring that your dining experience is nothing short of extraordinary. However, despite the wow factor, some may find that the food falls slightly short of expectations for such a high-end establishment. While the quality is undeniable, there's a sense that it could reach even greater heights. Nevertheless, Steak 48 remains a must-visit destination for those seeking an indulgent dining experience that's sure to impress even the most discerning palate. So, why not treat yourself to a taste of luxury at Steak 48? You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I want to preface that I was here for a work team dinner so my review is based off of not paying for my meal. Ambiance: It's VERY dim but it's a beautiful and large venue... So lovely to look at and experience... Even the restrooms are bougie! They have those smart toilets... So unnecessary but so fun to experience this place. The music was random also... I was hearing so many random songs that sometimes I would pause and laugh with my coworkers at the random songs playing! Service: Our server was phenomenal, patient, and accommodating. There wasn't a question too dumb, there wasn't a request too frivolous. I wish I remembered his name because I honestly don't recall... He had a tattoo rose on his hand I think... I love that they allow servers to be tattooed because tattoos don't make you less classy! Food: For appetizers we got the meatballs (so good!), the even better flaky and buttery bread, and a few other apps that didn't stand out enough for me to recall in this review. I got the cap-cut steak, which is the cap of the ribeye roast... That is not on the menu, it's off the menu and at the market price... Idk how much it cost cause I did not pay but I assume it's not cheap. It was very tender, but I wish I had gotten the rib eye bone-in just because it's my favorite cut and the size of it was massive... That said the cap cut was very delicious. The sides are family style... I really loved the whipped sweet potato...and the au gratin potatoes. Overall it was an awesome experience and I am glad I got to dine here, I am not sure I would pay my funds for this restaurant but I would go to another work dinner here!

Yelp
Hands down the BEST steakhouse in San Diego! (This coming from someone who has been to almost every high end steak house there is) The food is delicious, always so yummy, so fresh, flavorful... the service is top notch, the experience touch points give it the icing on the cake, from the best chocolate chip cookies with your bill, to warm lavender towels to finish your meal, from start to finish our favorite place. So many cool dining room options, each with a different view and vibe. SO glad to have you in San Diego. (Visit the restroom to experience the Toto - thank me later)

Yelp
Came here for a birthday celebration and I think this has to be my new favorite steak place in town. I got the filet mignon, jumbo shrimps and oysters, Caesar salad, and different sides. If you want something heavy to go with your food, I recommend the potato gratin and creme brûlée corn. Wow, so flavorful and rich! The corn was sweet, savory, and creamy while the potatoes were perfectly soft and cheesy with a crispy top! The steak is seasoned nicely not too salty and not too bland. I got the petite filet mignon and I still couldn't even finish it. Service was amazing. They were so attentive and even gave us free dessert on them! They even called me a couple of days later asking how their food was and how my dining experience was, which I thought was really nice of them. This is definitely a nicer steak place. Inside is dark and relaxed kind of vibe. They do have some fun music playing though so it is at the same time lively! Will definitely come back here again!

Yelp
From the moment my husband and I noticed the construction of Steak 48, our anticipation grew exponentially. The wait was undeniably worth it! Upon arriving, the sight of Ferraris and Bentleys in the parking lot was our first hint that we were in for an extraordinary experience. Our waiter, Chee, was exceptional. His attentiveness surpassed any we've encountered before. He expertly detailed every item on the menu, ensuring we didn't overlook a single option. Chee's knowledge extended impressively into wines as well. What a delightful and knowledgeable professional! I opted for the Maine lobster tails, served warm. They were, without exaggeration, the finest lobster I've ever enjoyed. The tableside service to unshell them was a thoughtful and elegant touch. My husband chose the New York strip steak, and it was nothing short of phenomenal. Each bite was tender, bursting with rich flavors. It was, undoubtedly, the best steak I've ever tasted. We also savored a crisp wedge salad, tender calamari, and aromatic truffle fries--all satisfying in their own right. The ambiance of Steak 48 was dark and romantically intimate. A word of advice: bring your glasses, or be ready to use your cell phone flashlight for the menu, as we noticed several diners doing. A humorous highlight was discovering that the restrooms featured heated seats--a luxurious touch that added to our evening's amusement. To save room for dessert, we requested our leftovers to be packed. The staff did so beautifully, arranging everything in a neatly organized, Tetris-style packed bag. For dessert, we indulged in a creation resembling a giant Ferrero Rocher chocolate, which was as delicious as it was visually appealing. Pairing it with coffee perfectly complemented the rich chocolate mousse flavors. Reflecting on our visit, it was truly an amazing experience. My husband even mentioned a return visit for my upcoming birthday, which I eagerly anticipate! The following day, we received a thoughtful phone call from the restaurant to ensure our satisfaction, and I'm pleased to say, we had absolutely no complaints!

Yelp
All I have to say is EXQUISITE. From greeting to dinner service staff was top notch. Food made to perfection. Loved the entire experience and ambience. Definitely will be back. Great for special occasions with reservations dates or business gatherings.

Yelp
Wow! We were really impressed with the food quality and exemplary service at Steak 48. The star of the show was undoubtedly the 22-ounce bone-in ribeye. Cooked to perfection, it had a mouthwatering sear on the outside while remaining tender and juicy on the inside. The flavor was exceptional, with a rich, smoky taste that left me wanting more. No additional sauce was necessary but we got the truffle butter on the side, which complemented it very well. The side dishes were equally impressive. The crispy Hasselbeck potatoes were perfectly seasoned and had a delightful crunch, complementing the steak perfectly. The corn was sweet and buttery, providing a nice balance to the savory flavors. The shrimp appetizer was huge enough to share for a full table. Fresh baked bread rolls were perfectly buttery and warm. When the staff brought out the food, a huge group of servers came so everyone would get their dishes at the same time--great attention to detail. We topped off our perfect meal with beignets - everyone had one and loved it! ----TL;DR---- Pros: Outstanding bone-in ribeye - perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. Delicious and well-prepared side dishes, especially the crispy potatoes and corn. The ambiance was upscale and inviting, with a comfortable atmosphere. The service was attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall dining experience. Cons: Prices are on the higher side, making it more suitable for special occasions or those looking for a splurge. It can get quite busy, so reservations are recommended. Bottom Line: They offer a top-notch dining experience with its exceptional bone-in ribeye, delectable side dishes, and inviting ambiance. While it may be a bit pricey, the quality of the food and service justify the cost. If you're looking for a memorable steakhouse experience, Steak 48 is definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
******1st review of 2024******** Finally checked out steak 48! The initial insanity of their grand opening has subsided (still a packed house) I'll start my New Years Diet soon...promise. we arrived early for our reservation and found a seat in the bar to wait. they came quickly to retrieve us for our table but we opted to stay where we were. We started with drinks. round #1 drinks: -paloma : smokey and delish...but too much ice (ha) -blackberry bourbon (slightly sweet but amazing!)...in fact I took this from my husband and gave him my glass of ice (ahem I mean Paloma) starters: deviled eggs and chicken fried lobster ... both were amazing but putting price aside the chicken fried lobster was the clear winner. round 2 of drinks: Coastal Rita- perfect marg. tastes exactly like the one I get at my favorite dive bar in TJ...just double the price The walnut old fashioned. - yum yum Entree: bone-in Kansas City strip... delish...cooked great. sides: this was the hard part to decide...honestly I could just eat the sides -au gratin potates -whipped praline sweet potato -corn creme brûlée (amazing!) - sautéed wild mushrooms. it was WAY TOO MUCH food for the two of us and we came home with leftovers. looking forward to exploring more of the sides and the drink menu... after dinner we walked around the rest of the restaurant. ...we checked out the reservation only bar....SO MUCH QUIETER in there! the front bar is if you're going to the bar to hang and see people (or be seen)...this back bar is quite and more intimate...and be hidden.

Yelp
After long anticipation, I was jazzed to have the opportunity to dine at Steak 48. I say, anticipation, because construction seemed to be lengthy. That said, one look at the interior will explain why. Steak 48 is a completely rebranded restaurant than the previous establishment with great ambiance and class. Extremely large with accommodations to fill just about any occasion with multiple bars and dining rooms. For us, the occasion was special and the staff were exceptional which was kicked off with an offering of dark napkins unsolicited. The server was exceptional who was teamed with several individuals that never left a glass low or a plate lingering seconds too long on the table. We kicked off with three appetizers: Meatballs, Shishito Peppers and the Hamachi. Each one of these were extremely good and I tip my hat to the creator of the Hamachi as it was extremely well balanced with flavor. The freshness of the fish was superb. I overlooked taking pictures, but they are well represented by their website or fellow Yelpers. Appetizers were preceded by a bar menu that is well stocked and renditions for just about every preference. One thing that came as a surprise was the corkage. Yes, $85 is steep for corkage. For this occasion, it was worth it based upon what we brought, but you may not reach the same conclusion. They have an amazing wine list and you will find something that you will enjoy for any wine connoisseur. On this occasion, the preference was beef. The selections are hand cut and of very good quality. I chose the New York steak. It was cooked to perfection on a blazing hot plate. If a lower temperature doneness is what you prefer, please recognize that the end of the meal may produce something different from when you started. The group selected an array of side dishes that could be shared among many. No standouts, but good. Normally, I would be inclined to rate such a high class steak spot much higher, but there were a few things require some enhancing. There were several in the party that had beef that was simply too heavy on salt. For those sensitive, it may behoove you to request light seasoning or seasoning on the side. The corkage will not be for all and you will not be able open your own bottle if they carry it in stock within an age range of their inventory. I would certainly dine again at Steak 48 as the service was exceptional and options were very good from the bar to entrees. This is a very good option for you for that special occasion. Enjoy!

Yelp
Steak 48 in Del Mar offers a fine dining experience that leaves patrons satisfied and impressed. With this establishment just opening this year, it was extremely difficult getting a reservation. With that, my friends and I sat at the bar which was already packed by 4pm which is their opening time. We started our steak campaign with oysters 4 varieties, 2 from the east coast and 2 from the west coast - full of flavor with that briney freshness. Also during this time, they brought out warm delicious flakey croissant like bread that just melted in your mouth. I had to be careful to not go overboard with the bread like I usually do. Next up was the fried lobster tails which at first you thought was fried chicken with that batter but then you taste that fresh succulent lobster. For the main, of course I had to go with the classic ribeye cooked medium rare and it was spectacular with full flavor of juicy goodness. Every thing our group ordered was delicious, flavorful and left you wanting more. The ambiance is that of a traditional steakhouse, dark and cosy. If you are steak lover, make a reservation and experience a fantastic meal.

Yelp
The service is excellent. Very friendly, professional and attentive staff. The ambiance and decor are great. For me the food choices were limited because I'm allergic to shellfish and I don't eat bacon. My steak was cooked to perfection. I was disappointed with their house bread. Not that it was bad and I'm sure most people love it. I just didn't like the taste or how it was prepared.

Yelp
FINALLY A GREAT CHICAGO-STYLE UPSCALE STEAK RESTAURANT IN DEL MAR My wife and I have tremendously enjoyed two dinners at Steak48, the first was a simple "Date Night" on 6 Nov 2023 and then the 18th Anniversary of our First Date Night" on 18 January 2024. Steak48 has created what I might describe as the "perfect upscale steakhouse" with exceptional personal service, an attention to detail that is perfection focused, courses create serious challenges on what to select to eat because every dish is worthy of savoring memory, and an environment that is elegant and comfortable. My professional career has allowed me to travel the world to the most amazing cities and to dine at so many exceptional, memorable restaurants, Michelin-star world renowned restaurants and amazing hole-in-walls in Asia and South America that have created savory memories of taste and time and , . . . . . . and Steak48 is on my forever list. And I am looking forward to returning!! Two great details: STeak48 has big pours for a wine by the glass - and it is always perfectly chilled. I love their Rex Hill Pinot Noir from Williamette Valley, OR. Every person you meet from Steak48, from the person who handles water, to the servers, to the staff that brings your dishes/courses to your table, to the person who collects your plates and ensures there are NO crumbs on your table - has a focus on perfection and kindness. I can't wait to go back!!

Yelp
Ok, I am officially on gout watch after this visit! Everything at Steak 48 was remarkable from start to finish. I haven't been to all the high-end boutique steakhouses around downtown and Little Italy but this establishment is a noticeable step above places like Fleming's, Donovan's, Ruth's, HK, etc. Just the vibe, architecture and layout of the restaurant is quite unique and impressive. Many different rooms and sections all with their own personality and level of privacy. Loved the background music. Service is top-shelf of course, and sometimes a bit much. Very personal. The waiter wanted to give me an in-depth tour of the menu. I let him know I had been studying it online for days in advance and just about had it memorized. They called me the day before to confirm reservation and the morning after to see how everything was. Their attention to detail is excellent in every way. The restaurant is quite dimly lit so getting good photos was challenging. I ordered the Bone-In KC Strip, topped with sauteed blue cheese. Outstanding char and such a rich, beefy flavor. Their doneness standard here tends to the under side. I ordered medium and found it perfect for me. Pink throughout and some red in the center. Served on a screaming hot plate. Many great choices of shareable sides. Mac & Cheese is my favorite vegetable so we of course included that. Probably among the finest steakhouse macs I've put in my mouth. Simple, no frills, although flawlessly executed. Creamy, stringy, well blended and hot throughout. They use cavatappi pasta which I adore. The Au Gratin Potatoes were delicious. Rich, cheesy, buttery, creamy and hot. While they tried to hype up their ($$$$) Seafood Tower, we simply started with the Colossal Shrimp Cocktail. You choose how many you want at $11 each. I requested 4 for the 2 of us and it was perfect. Almost the size of a small lobster tail. Highly recommended. Bring a fat wallet.

Yelp
Happy New Year! The first review of the year and I'm so excited this was it. We came here last night for a late Christmas dinner with our friends and while yes, we've all been to some finer places, this was a showstopper. The ambiance, the food, the vibe and even the temperature was so great. We felt incredibly taken care of and had the best server, Michele. So was so fun and knowledgeable and really made the whole experience that much better. So the food... well we definitely had eyes bigger than stomachs but when you're gonna splurge you're gonna splurge. Drinks: Passionfruit mocktail, blackberry bourbon, coastal Rita, Pom/blood orange martini and pear martini. All so delicious and the only complaint was that the guys didn't like how tart the Pom martini was. Good thing I did since it was mine lol. Apps: Crispy Shrimp, East and West Oysters, House bread, Pork Belly and Tartate. The bread was good of course, a touch heavy but very nice. Every appetizer we got was unreal. All flavorful, not overly salty. Perfect. The shrimp and tartare were the stars for everyone. I loved the oysters as they weren't too briney and the accompaniment of sauces was crazy. Mains: 45 Day Dry Aged Ribeye. YUM. KC Strip. YUM. Both cooked to perfect medium rares. Crab cake Oscar topper and truffle butter were great additions but I think a little unnecessary next time. Sides: Buckle up... Corn Crème Brûlée was hands down my favorite side. It was exceptional. The au gratin potatoes were rich and savory, a table favorite. The Brussels were the only thing we would skip next time because they weren't as crispy as we usually like but still decent. The asparagus was delicious and cooked tender. The hasselbacks were beloved but I don't do cream cheese so it was a no from me dawg. But the table loved them. Dessert: Off menu beignet tree was fun and the creme anglaise sauce was a winner. The nutella was a touch too rich. The vanilla cake was drool worthy, so good. A perfect ending. The whole mood: Obviously it's fufu in there, what did you expect? However, the warm towels and table scrapers between the courses were wild and honestly made us laugh a little with how extra it was. But did we yuck it up? Sureee did. Price: ... what did you expect lol? For all the food and the quality and service, including tip we paid $700 even. If you're going to complain about the price, don't come here lol. Do your research, look at the menu and the reviews and decide if this is something you wanna splurge on. If not, don't. But we will be back and highly recommend.

Yelp
What an exceptional experience from start to finish. Walking into the restaurant, you couldn't help but feel like you were entering another world. You were first welcomed by a collection of wines - and to your left were lovely hostesses greeting you. Promptly, we were seated at a corner booth table that could look into the bar and view the outdoor sky. It was a perfect table for a family reunion that enjoys the ecstatic energy of the steakhouse. Not long after being seated, we were offered beverage options and informed that the house bread was on its way. Becky was an amazing and attentive server. Besides being knowledgeable, she was personable, elevating our dining experience. She acknowledged the reason why we were here and offered great recommendations from appetizers to entrees and to what kind of plates our food will be served on - to ensure that our fish was not over cooked when being shared with the steak's 500 degree hot plate. She was remarkable and lovely. Food was remarkable - and I mean it. To start off, we got the Crispy Shrimp and Pork Belly. The pork belly stole the show with tender meat on a bed of spinach and sweet Thai chili - perfect combination of sweet and savory. We also ordered the Superfood Salad along with our appetizers. I'm sorry but this is the best salad that I ever had and you can't change my mind; all the salads that I have after that experience just don't hit the same. The sweet fruits paired gorgeously with the crunchy texture of the sunflower seed and richness of the goat cheese. In fact, I'm craving it again as I'm writing this review. Moving onto the entrees, we shared the Filet Mignon, Maryland Style Lump Crab Cakes, and the Chilean Sea Bass with spiedini style. Their steaks are USDA Prime Beef so you are getting the best of the best. Our filet mignon was so tender and juicy - thus chefs served it sliced so it was easy for sharing. The crust of the sea bass was crispy - what a great contrast with the flaky fish. I was honestly too full to try the crab cake. Lastly, dessert time!! I unfortunately opted out for one of the entrees to save my stomach for my sweet tooth. The Peanut Butter Pie satisfied my love for peanut butter. The graham cracker crust complemented the decadent peanut butter mousse deliciously. But to my surprise, the Blood Orange Sorbet was beyond amazing. I wish I can have it for breakfast, lunch, dessert, and after every of my workout. Special thank you to Alex, Matt, and Stacey for stopping by our table to make us feel beyond special.

Yelp
This was such a superb dining experience and we were taken care of from the day before to after. I was able to get a dinner reservation for a bday and the day before, I got a call to not only confirm the reservation but to also ask for the name of the persons bday so that they can have a card ready when we checked in. We were greeted warmly and brought to a cozy table in the back. I was astounded by how much space was inside and it was nice to be seated in the back room where it was quieter than around the bar. Our waitress and wait help were exceptionally friendly and took care of us all night. My favorite bites of the night were the chicken fried lobster tail appetizer, the scallops entre, and the key lime pie dessert. The entrees came out on 500 degree plates and were of the perfect temperature. There was so much food that we essentially had to pack a bit of everything to go. The next day, I got a call asking how our experience was. So definitely a 5 star service.

Yelp
This place is not to be missed! Russell the bar manager is so kind. Amanda and Katelyn took care of our table and we're on everything to make sure everything was perfect. The food was phenomenal. A lot of great vegetarian options.

Yelp
Overpriced and parking is horrible. I would go to try it, but it's not a quick "return to" place.

Yelp
This was an absolute gem of a restaurant to find. Steak 48 in Del Mar will be the up and coming place to enjoy a fantastic food experience. Starting with the service that was incredible and our server (brunette with amazing hair, personality and service last night ) She paid such close attention to our needs before we even knew we needed it! It is a week before our wedding and she made it so special. Alex the manager was so kind and welcoming that we felt like we were the only patrons there. The food was outstanding. want to impress that someone special? This is it. Starting with my martini with blue cheese olives and cocktail onions, and my fiancés (soon to be husband!) special old fashioned ( from their old fashioned menu ), to the shishito peppers, delectable butter rolls, Caesar salad with warm poached egg, chilean sea bass, petite filet with truffle lobster enhancement and the chefs special gouda potatoes to the desserts of the beignet tree and fresh berries, this was a phenomenal culinary experience in so many ways. We will be back over and over to this restaurant and it is one of my new favorites

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience here. Everyone was extremely friendly. The space has been renovated 1000% differently than Searsucker space previously. There are many different seating options in different rooms, different privacy levels. Noise level is loud, but energetic. The main dining bar was packed. Saw the other little nooks everywhere and an another bar in the back that is reservation only. Service was wonderful. Every person says hi to you. Food on par, expected at this high end steakhouse. Definitely pricey, but worth the experience. Even the bathrooms all had bidets. Wagyu tartare was delicious, a little disappointed that it was served with pita bread, instead of some crusty, thick bread, which would have been more appropriate. We got the petite fillet, as well as the New York strip, which were super delicious. Sides were the truffle fries which look like steak fries, but more thinner, definitely crispy and delicious. Also got the cream spinach, which was very thick and heavy but delicious. We ordered cocktails that were good. The bread in the beginning were buttermilk type biscuits that flaked like a croissant. Super delicious. Overall wonderful experience. We will be back for sure. I am glad that it is in the neighborhood!

Yelp
We were glad to finally try steak 48. Reservations were made via open table and that forum was the easiest to select the available times (which were either super early or super late). Make sure to reserve weeks in advance to get your preferred time. Someone from restaurant will call to confirm the day of and also ask if it's a special occasion for the dinner. They even ask for specifics (what year is the anniversary, etc) which I thought was a thoughtful touch especially when they present you with a card at dinner. They have pretty much the entire bottom parking lot for valet so self parking can be difficult. Friday evening was really busy even at 530p. The hostesses were welcoming and wished us a happy anniversary. The restaurant is incredibly huge, dimly lit, and plays loud music. There was a hustle and energy that was pretty palpable. Our table was by the corner with views of Del Mar Heights Rd and El Camino. The tables seem close together. Our server was equally welcoming. I wasn't sure how expensive the wine list per glass would be but rest assured that there are affordable wine bottles. I believe their wine pours (per glass) are 9oz. Our bottle of Pinot Noir didn't break the bank and was a nice wine to share over dinner. So have comfort to know you can come to Steak 48 and it can be affordable. The complimentary rolls were served hot. I would agree that it tasted similar to Pillsbury crescent rolls (not a bad thing). We tried: Rhode Island Calamari & Shrimp: - the small fried pieces of calamari and shrimp were average. We were expecting a bit more in presentation and taste. This dish could be found at any standard restaurant. I would skip this appetizer. 48 Caesar w/ warmed poached egg: - they did an amazing job with this salad. Their split plate presentation was wonderful. The dressing was creamy and the poached egg was nice. The oversized croutons were crispy on the outside but soft on the inside Bone in 22oz ribeye: - the steak was served on hot plates and split well for the both of us. They even asked who would like the bone in split. The char and medium prep of the ribeye was well executed. Unfortunately the steak was tough and had quite a bit of gristle Black Truffle green peppercorn sauce: - this was a delicious sauce but a tiny portion for the price Crispy Hasselback potato: - this appeared to be two medium sized baked potatoes that were sliced and then deep fried. It was nicely crispy with a side of chive cream cheese sauce. Roasted Asparagus: - I think it says sauteed on menu but it appeared roasted. The asparagus were large and stems were well shaved. It was a nice portion for the price. We were treated to a dessert which I believe was their butter cake. The bussers and helpers to the servers are worth a shout out as they would often come to our table to make sure all was well . It was a memorable evening and we were glad to have celebrated at Steak 48.

Yelp
Came here for our 4th year anniversary and everything from start to finish was amazing! Service was fantastic. When we sat down there was a card on the table greeting us Happy Anniversary! We were sat a table near the bar and the place was pretty busy so the noise level was a little louder, but I really enjoyed the music they played! Here's what we had -- The free bread - this was ok, could've been more buttery and softer but that's just me Lobster escargot - SNAIL FREE!!! This was so good! I recommend Crispy Hasselback potatoes - wasn't exactly crispy but they were still pretty good with the sauce they came with Wagyu tartare - the steak tartare itself was good. The flat bread/pita(?) It came with was flimsy though which made it a little annoying to eat as I would've preferred something on the crispier side. It still tasted pretty good though! Corn crème brulee - THE BEST PART!! I was skeptical at first but it was really good!!! Filet mignon - I ordered mine medium and it was cooked perfectly and not chewy so it was good! Crispy shrimp - it was okay Ultimate warm vanilla cake - it had a happy anniversary message on it!!! This tasted pretty good and definitely satisfied my dessert cravings! They also gave us 2 little chocolate chip cookies at the end which was a nice touch. The drinks we had tasted fine and were a little on the stronger side lol. Our waiter did a great job and was super helpful in explaining everything. Be wary though the explanation of the menu for first timers can be a little long and a bit overwhelming lol. They had individual gender neutral restrooms but this wasn't an issue because they had sufficient restrooms and they were super clean. Oh yeah THEY HAVE FANCY SELF CLEANING BIDETS!!!! Overall an amazing experience and would come back again for special occasions.

Yelp
Went last night, we LOVED it! The bar is sexy, the bartenders are legit top notch and staffed correctly! We were a party of four and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We had assortment of steaks, loved the sides..... get the corn crème brûlée (chefs kiss ). We needed this restaurant! It was pricey and I don't care, so nice to dress up and not feel over dressed like most of the restaurants around here . This steak restaurant is the BEST steak joint in all of San Diego, period!

Yelp
They're raising the bar in Del Mar. They completely revamped the Burlap/Searsucker space. Ceilings have been lowered, it's a more intimate space. They've been overstaffed since day one and service is fantastic. I'm not super crazy about steak-on-a-plate places because they he menus are all mostly the same but I prefer this place to an Eddie V's or Ruth's. Rare Society in Solana Beach is fantastic too--their family style approach is cool.

Yelp
Loved this place!!!! My new favorite steak restaurant. I do have to say the restaurant was too dim for my taste but I understand it's the ambiance. LOL. Everything we ordered was amazing. Since I can only post 10 photos , these were the items that stood out for me. I loved the crispy shrimp deviled eggs. Best deviled eggs ever! My other fav were these buttery rolls that were so soft and buttery. They resembled cinnamon rolls in a skillet but obviously savory. One of the specials was ribeye cap. My husband and I love the cap so we had to get that. And you can't go wrong with the bone in ribeye. Cooked to perfection. It was so tender! We ordered a medley of seafood consisting of Alaskan king crab legs, oysters, and jumbo shrimp. So fresh! The braised pork belly was another delicious appetizer. Im not a martini fan but since they specialize in martinis I got a sweeter one , maybe it was the ginger peach ? Nonetheless I enjoyed it and loved that it came with more in the shaker. They gave us an assortment of desserts for my friend's birthday . And we ordered the beignets. We ordered 3 bottles of Cabernet.. forgot the brand but it paired so well with the steaks. Loved the presentation of everything! We ordered so many more dishes but these were the favs. Service was great. Definitely an expensive evening but hey you only live once! I highly recommend this place for steak and seafood lovers. Definitely a go to for a special occasion!

Yelp
I gave it a 4 star for its ambiance and staff attentiveness. What a beautiful venue and pleasant atmosphere to grab dinner or drink/appetizer. However the steak (hence the name) fails in comparison. They look very pretty but unless you purchase a sauce (extra fee upwards of $15) it is very bland. But I'm of the old school sensibility that a good steakhouse should present tasteful regardless of additional sauce. Just a good sear and butter render. This isn't it. The sides are wonderful - delicious whipped potatoes and crepe corn brûlée. I'd go back but not for the steak.

Yelp
I'm pleased to see a high-end steakhouse chain opening in the San Diego area after several have permanently closed over the past few years (e.g. Donovan's, Truluck's, Larsen's). The long vacated Searsucker space in the Del Mar Highlands Town Center is now the home of Steak 48 which is a branch of the Mastro family's empire of upscale dining. The 48 in the name is a reference to the 48th state of the Union (i.e. Arizona) which is the home base of their company. The exterior of the building was understated with a simple sign posted on the wall facing south towards the parking lot. When you walked past the hostess stand, there was a sequence of multiple dining rooms that could host nearly 500 guests. Some of the areas were more private and secluded than others. A couple of them were adjacent to the kitchen where you could see the army of chefs working their craft. They also have an onsite butcher shop and a wine vault containing a few thousand bottles. I would describe the ambiance as new-school modern compared to old-school vintage. Some natural light came through the windows if you dined before sunset. The music being played on the overhead speakers was a mix of classic and contemporary tunes from the past several decades. As soon as I sat down, the waitress asked if I wanted to switch from a white napkin that matched the tablecloth to a black napkin that would conceal any mess made from eating and drinking. That was the first time I have encountered such an option. The one-page menu was anchored in the middle by prime steaks and chops that have been wet aged for 28 days and hand cut by their butcher. That section was divided into small (3 to 12 oz) and regular (12 to 22 oz) portions. The rest of the menu featured appetizers, salads, raw bar, caviar, seafood, sides, and more than steak. Decadence was available if you wanted it in the form of Alaskan king crab, Maine lobster, and three grades of osetra sturgeon caviar. Some of the appetizers were unique like Crispy Shrimp Deviled Eggs and Chicken Fried Lobster Tails. Complimentary house bread was provided in a cast iron pan. They were shaped like cinnamon rolls and were so buttery and delicious. I ate one piece and boxed the other six to take home. For my dinner, I chose the Prime Steakhouse Meatballs, a Crispy Hassleback Potato, and a corn-fed 12 oz NY Strip cooked medium. The waitress noted that the kitchen undercooks the meat by one level. The medium was closer to medium rare at other restaurants. Her advice influenced the degree of doneness I selected for my cut. The meatballs were a blend of prime beef and pork with lots of garlic seasoning. They were so tender inside the crusty exterior. I chose three for $12 versus five for $16 to save space in my stomach. The potato was actually two spuds that were sliced but kept whole and then deep fried with smoked sea salt and truffle butter. A side of cream cheese sauce was available as a dip. The product was like eating fresh fried potato chips with sour cream. The steak was served on a 500-degree plate with lots of butter. That kept the meat cooking at the table which was why they undercooked it in the kitchen. I didn't have enough room for dessert, but a special tree of beignets caught my eye from another party across the way. The item was not listed as a regular dessert offering so you need to inquire if it's available off-menu. A complimentary chocolate chip cookie was provided as a palate sweetener when I was done eating. I was given a large Steak 48 bag to hold the boxes of leftovers from my meal. There were so many people assisting with various aspects from bringing out food to clearing used plates to boxing up leftovers. This place certainly does not have an issue with staff shortage. The waitress was well-trained as all of my menu questions were adequately addressed without having to consult another team member. If you have a special occasion and/or a budget to splurge on a luxurious dinner, then Steak 48 is the new kid on the block that should be considered. PS: Thank you to the manager who gave me a guided tour of the facility after I settled the check.

Yelp
As soon as you walk up to the entrance, the door is opened for you with this phrase delivered perfectly with a smile, "Welcome to Steak 48". I can sum up my Steak 48 experience with one word... incredible. This was hands down the best dining experience I have ever had in San Diego, and it's not even close! The Mastro brothers, Jeffrey and Michael, James Beard nominated chefs, are the brains behind this amazing restaurant. They are the original owners of the Mastro's Steakhouses (which was sold to Landry's over a decade ago). This is the Mastro brother's return to steakhouses, Steak 48, and are we lucky they chose San Diego. Located in the space that use to house Burlap / Searsuckers in Del Mar Heights, Steak 48 looks nothing like those previous restaurants and it shows. Multiple dining areas, a great bar, endless types of wine on the wall, a butcher shop, a raw bar, and a wall of cleavers that is very IG worthy. The ambiance and decor are something that we've never had here in San Diego. This is all next level. The service is easily the best I've experienced in San Diego. Everyone was very attentive, welcoming, and friendly. Brian was our server, and he knocked it out of the park. Gave great recommendations, awesome sense of humor and good vibes. Russel, the bar manager, was also very attentive making sure everything was to our liking. The food, buckle up, because you are in for a treat! We started with the bread, which I almost completely devoured. Next up was the Superfood salad, which had a great champagne fir dressing and some very flavorful berries. I'm telling you the bar kept getting higher with everything that came out. The Bone-In Ribeye, medium rare, phenomenal. Add the truffle butter, it is out of this world! For sides we got the Truffled & Salted crispy fries, which are highly addictive. Sautéed sweet corn, amazing, and the sautéed wild mushrooms, WOW is all I have to say! For dessert we got wild, the Triple Chocolate Bomber, just get it. You'll be happy you did! Just to keep this easy: -House Bread -Superfood Salad -Bone-In Ribeye with Truffle Butter -Truffled & Salted Crispy Fries -Sautéed Wild Mushrooms -Sautéed Sweet Corn -Triple Chocolate Bomber We both absolutely loved everything here! I was bummed when we left, if I wasn't so full I would have kept ordering, so come hungry! The bar gets hopping. I would shoot for an 8-9 reservation if you want to be in the thick of it. Great energy! The complimentary cookies at the end were a nice touch. As full as I was I ate them... both. I can't wait to go back! Steak 48, Welcome to San Diego :-)

Yelp
Grand Opening night was a HIT! Congrats to the amazing team from the valet, greeters, hostesses, managers, chefs, runners, bakers, the list goes on they ALL deserve an applause! We felt seen, taken care of, and most importantly welcome! I know the staff had to undergo rigorous testing and training and it shows! Our waitress Veronica was exceptional! She guided us through the night delivering our food at a steady pace. Her recommendations were outstanding. She even offered to bring us a complimentary dessert even though we were too full! It was so appreciated- thank you! The night was perfect we got the best table in the house! It's one of the private glass booths with a full view of the kitchen! So much fun seeing all the behind the scenes! We ordered the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. They served it on plates that were 500 degrees and even pre-seasoned with butter and parsley. Loved the lavender cleansing cloths in between meals what a nice touch and must needed after eating my king crab legs! We loved it so much I made 2 more reservations to come back again soon! Welcome to the neighborhood- finally!

Yelp
Lots of parking but Valley only. They need half the valley parking spots than they have to accommodate their patrons. This leaves a negative experience before you walk into the door

Yelp
Steak 48 has really upped their game. I must say we had a memorable dinner last night. I requested a booth and we had the best one in the restaurant, not to mention our server Stacy, a pure delight, super attentive with a great Old School Martini charm. Very few places in SD do you get your Martini Shaken and served next to you. Meal was Excellent, we all had Steaks, Appetizers just as great and not to mention the sides (Creme Brulee Corn and Hasselback Potatoes) and then the Vanilla Cake WOW. everything was excellent. I can actually say that this is the best Steakhouse in San Diego.

Yelp
Corn Crème Brûlée! Corn crème brûlée! Chant with me.... corn Crème brûlée.... Haha okay seriously. Excellent meal, excellent service, excellent ambiance. I think steak48 knows what they are doing. Hubby brought me here for a celebration and boy am I happy he did! The gentleman who served us went through the menu and guided us with his recommendations. They start off with a bowl of bread. The bread was perfection and I kept trying to stop. I had food coming but nooooooo of course I kept eating the soft, perfectly baked, great temp bread. Well, we moved on to pork belly app which is a must. Pork belly is cooked two ways: the right way and the wrong way. Go Steak48 because it was perfect! We ordered a steak, whipped potato and you guessed it, corn crème brûlée. Anyone who has already been there knows that the corn stole the show. I don't need to eat steak everyday...... but I could sure eat corn crème brûlée daily. Okay I'll stop! Enjoy.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience! I love that they put this location in Del Mar. I walked in to be seated and I noticed a woman who felt so entitled and spoke to the host so rudely, but Abbigal handled her with so much grace and smiled throughout. Give this girl a raise! I started with a few appetizers - hamachi and wagyu - and I can't brag enough about their yellowtail hamachi! The New York strip steak was cooked beautifully and tasted like there was a hint of spice, which was so good. I appreciate that it's grass-fed. I had Arhman tonight, and he was so sweet, smiling the whole time! I'll be back, and next time I'll bring the whole family. Thank you for the experience!
