"Opening in Spring 2023 at Del Mar Highlands Town Center, Steak 48 will occupy a 12,500-square-foot stand-alone corner spot at Del Mar Heights Road and El Camino Real that previously housed Searsucker. The multiroom space will feature multiple dining areas and eight private dining suites, all with a view of a glass-enclosed showcase kitchen, plus an in-house butcher shop for hand-cutting steaks and a 3,000-bottle wine vault. Co-founded by Jeffrey and Michael Mastro along with their father Dennis Mastro and partner Scott Troilo after selling the Mastros chain, the brand already has locations in Houston, Chicago (ranked by Eater Chicago as one of the city's top steakhouses), Philadelphia and Charlotte, with another outpost opening in Beverly Hills. Known for its strict dress code and an ultra-luxe menu, the restaurant centers on 28-day, wet-aged prime steaks as well as domestic and A5 wagyu, alongside extensive seafood and raw bar selections; some of its most popular dishes include wagyu tartare, chicken-fried lobster tails, Alaskan king crab, rock shrimp mac & cheese, and steaks topped with crab cakes, burrata or black truffle green peppercorn sauce." - Candice Woo
